  • Where should test classes be stored in the project?

    I build all my web projects at work using RAD/Eclipse, and I'm interested to know where do you guys normally store your test's *.class files. All my web projects have 2 source folders: "src" for source and "test" for testcases. The generated *.class files for both source folders are currently placed under WebContent/WEB-INF/classes folder. I want to separate the test *.class files from the src *.class files for 2 reasons:- There's no point to store them in WebContent/WEB-INF/classes and deploy them in production. Sonar and some other static code analysis tools don't produce an accurate static code analysis because it takes account of my crappy yet correct testcase code. So, right now, I have the following output folders:- "src" source folder compiles to WebContent/WEB-INF/classes folder. "test" source folder compiles to target/test-classes folder. Now, I'm getting this warning from RAD:- Broken single-root rule: A project may not contain more than one output folder. So, it seems like Eclipse-based IDEs prefer one project = one output folder, yet it provides an option for me to set up a custom output folder for my additional source folder from the "build path" dialog, and then it barks at me. I know I can just disable this warning myself, but I want to know how you guys handle this. Thanks.

  • Oracle Cursor and JDBC ODBC

    I have some procedures to execute in the database that has an OUT REFCURSOR parameter. When I am connecting with the JDBC thin client, everything works fine. However, if I were to change the connection string to refer to the ODBC data source pointing to the same database, those procedures will fail. The procedures that do not use an OUT REFCURSOR will still work fine though. Is this situation the result of an error on my part or expected?

    I am currently in the process of creating an application that records current location of a mobile device in intervals, displaying the route as a coloured line on the device in real-time. At the same time the application is storing the longitude and latitude in a SQLite database as I want the user to be able to bring up that specific route again. The route has a primary key and each waypoint is linked to that route by a foreign key. What would be the easiest way to display the saved route on the map?.

In database design, should I put those two entities in one big aggregated table or two respectively designed tables.   • Where are Silverlight assemblies stored when a xap file is run?

    We currently have a XAP file which contains Foo.dll, and another XAP file (with a completely different name) which contains an updated version Foo.dll (but the same version number). When we run the second XAP file, it looks as though the Silverlight runtime on the client, is picking up the old version of Foo.dll from the first XAP file. Anyone know where the Silverlight runtime unzips the xap file before running its content? Or if the runtime executes on a single app domain which could explain these errors?

  • I've got to update a column in one SQL table with a counter stored in another table, and update that

    I'm using SQL server 2005 (for testing) & 2007 (for production). I have to add a unique record ID to all the records in my table, in an existing column, using a "last record ID" column from another table. So, I'm going to do some sort of UPDATE of my table, but I have to get the "last record ID" from the other table, increment it, update THAT table and then update my record. Can anyone give me an example of how to do this? Other users may be incrementing the counter also.

  • Japanese character stored in SQL Server DB using ASP page that assumed it as ISO-8859-1 encoding

    We have a legacy ASP based product that allowed the UI and Data languages of user groups to be configured according to their locations. CodePage and CharSet in ASP pages collecting data was set accordingly. I've noticed few instances in the SQL Server DB where users posted Japanese characters in the ASP page that assumes the oncoming stream to be of ISO-8859-1/Western and as a result, the data in the SQL table has gobbled up. While upgrading the client to our new product, I want to back-convert those "garbage" Japanese (in some instances Chinese) characters back to their actual form. Can I create some utility ASP page that would go through such data values and "fix" the wrongly-encoded strings and store everything back as utf-8 strings? In any case, I don't want to affect my French/Spanish/English characters that might be there as well.

    I need for html file/ ajax code to take the JSON message and store the PATHS as a javaScript array. Then my buildImage function can display the first image in the array. I'm new to AJAX and believe my misunderstanding lies within the converting of the JSON to Javascript. I'm confused also about if my code creates a JSON array or object or either. I might need also to download a library to my app to understand JSON? Below is a PHP file loading the paths of the images.     hi, I'm passing data to a ListView to display some restaurant names. Now when clicking on an item I'd like to start another activity to display more restaurant data. I'm not sure about how to do it. Shall I pass all the restaurant data in a bundle through the intent object? Or shall I just pass the restaurant id and get the data in the other activity? In that case, how can I access my restaurantList from the other activity? In any case, how can I get data from the restaurant I clicked on (the view only contains the name)? Any help, pointers welcome!     In my organization, we are just beginning to use the Entity Framework for some applications. In the past, we have pushed developers to utilize stored procedures for all database access. In addition to helping with SQL injection, we tried to grant logins access to stored procedures only to keep security relatively tight. Although inserting, updating, and deleting are easily done through stored procedures in the EF, it appears to be difficult to use stored procedures to query data with EF. However, using LINQ or Entity SQL and allowing EF to create the queries means giving a user read access to the entire database. How have others handled this dilemma?
