• Thumbnail preview rotator on mouse-over - what is it called?

  I've been searching for hours now but can't get any tutorial on this. I have these thumbnails on my homepage which are the first images of their corresponding posts. What I want is that when I mouse-over a post on the homepage... the corresponding thumbnail should also show/rotate the other images of that particular post... bit like a sneak-peak image rotator... Does anyone know where I can get a tutorial regarding this? How's this called? It seems like I'm searching for the wrong keywords on google as I can't find anything.

• Ubuntu install doesn't run on latest Nexus7 64Gb?

  I tried installing Ubuntu on my recently purchased (for this purpose!) Nexus 7 64Gb, with the Cellular option. When I rebooted with Ubuntu, it didn't come up. I know, I need to post the errors I received. I was in a hurry to get back to something usable for the holiday (on the road, Thanksgiving, etc.), so I just reinstalled Android for now. When I have time, I'll post more of the errors. All I remember right now is that it dropped into busybox and I didn't have a keyboard or any way to attach one. (I used the 32Gb Ubuntu, by the way.) Have others seen this? Happy Thanksgiving! More later, I promise.

  I am looking to set up Ubuntu Server as a headless NAS for my home. I would like to have file storage there, as well as a central hub for my MP3s and pictures. What are the best packages out there to handle this? Can someone post a link to a good tutorial or post some tips? One constraint I have is that it has to be Windows 7 friendly. By that I mean the shares and streaming should work for a Windows machine.

  What is a good approach to an anti-spam algorithm for a website similar to reddit? Their anti-spam algorithm seems awfully broken (banning on words in the title and doing a horrible job for that matter). Considering a post spam because it has the word 'spam' in the title is really not a wise choice. Anyway, how can one approach such problem ? Are there any tools that help in such cases? Also, what are the /technical/ reasons behind reddit's choice not using reCAPTCHA on every post submission? It seems like a much better solution than what they have right now. Since reddit is basically a community-driven website why not give such power to the communities' trusted members?

• As good as no bounces are registered in Google Analytics [on hold]

  For a client I am having an issue for which I can't find an explanation. For some reason, bounces are no longer measured (or almost none) in GA. In GA I can see that the issue started in January 2013. I have been looking at the code inside and out, but I can't find any reason why. On the production site, there is (will be removed soon) a POST done on page load, so I thought that Google might see this as user interaction, hence never counting a bounce, but on staging i removed this POST and in the GA account for staging, still no bounces are registered. I have also checked if the tracking code appears twice on the page, and this is not the case. I tried with the GA debug plugin in Firefox and Chrome to see if that would learn me anything, but no luck... The site in question is www.kiala.be.

• Clean Ubuntu 14.04 install taking longer to boot after kernel upgrade

  Hello this is my first post. I own an Asus Chromebox (2gb ram, 16 gb sdd, 3.0 usb ports) and fresh installed Ubuntu 14.04 x64. I decided to upgrade kernel because I was experiencing some freezing issues with XBMC, So first i installed stable kernel 3.14.04 from mainline and boot time was fine (it booted very fast I would say about 5 seconds) then after a while I installed kernels 3.15 and 3.14.06 BUT this time I also removed OLD STOCK KERNELS (dunno if that has something to do) after that the problem began, boot time is taking way longer, I would say about 30 seconds. Finally today I installed kernel 3.14.07, set grub to boot with that by default but same thing :( I post boot.log and dmesg, hope it is correct for this matter, if you need any other log just let me know. boot.log dmesg

• 13.10 suspend kills wifi

  i tried to post to this thread Hardware wireless switch has no effect after suspend and 13.10 upgrade for if i understand their question i am having the same problem but the answer option won't work for me and maybe i am not supposed to post there anyway, i dunno lol...ack when i come out of suspend, the wireless is disconnected with the only way to get it to reinitialize/be recognized is to do a full restart. at first i thought it was my gnome shell (for lock screen disappeared there with 13.10) but when i switched to the default ubuntu it's still doing it and it's kinda driving me nuts for i have to reopen all my files and browsers/tabs/windows everytime. i'm only a geekling so i don't know how to show the terminal stuff the above asker shows, but it sounds like the same issue and it only started with 13.10 upgrade a few days ago. any help would be much appreciated!!! thanks so much ser

• Unity does not load after update

  There is no unity dash or nothing after I updated my system last night. System Information : Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Release: 14.04 Codename: trusty Kernel Version : 3.13.0-27-generic And I have NVIDIA drivers 331.67 installed. I have also tried to fix this by following the advice from this post : Unity doesn't load, no Launcher, no Dash appears But no luck. In the CompizConfig Settings Manager, Ubuntu Unity Plugins is enabled, but no unity, even after a reboot. If there is a way to retrieve the list of packages which got updated the last time, please tell me so that I can post them here.

• How to compare page views/visitors to site totals in Google Analytics?

  I want to measure the effects in total traffic (views or visitors) of a single URL across a time frame. For example, let's say I published a blog post on July 2012. I want to measure what chunk of the site's total traffic is coming to this particular post on a month-by-month graph from July 2012 to date. Is there a way to do this? Edit: I should clarify that what I'd like to do is to generate a month-to-month graph, similar to the one you can see comparing a metric on a period of time against the previous equivalent period (year vs last year, for example) but comparing a particular URL traffic to the site's total traffic. In other words, I can get to the part where I can see the URL's traffic for the timeframe I selected and it shows how much of the total traffic corresponds to the current URL: But I'd like to add a second line to the graph, representing the site's total pageviews, similiar to this (but this one is showing just a different metric for the same URL): Thanks!

• 'EditItem' is not allowed for this view - databinding issue

  Hi, I am trying to do data binding in WPF on data grid using a cutom list. My custom list class contains a private data list of type List. I can not expose this list however the indexers are exposed for seeting and getting individual items. My custom class looks like this: public abstract class TestElementList<T> : IEnumerable where T : class { protected List<T> Data { get; set; } public virtual T Get(int index) { T item = Data[index]; return item; } public virtual void Set(int index, T item) { Data[index] = item; } ... } The data is binded but when I try to edit it, i get "'EditItem' is not allowed for this view." Error. On doing extensive searching over web, I found that i might need to implement IEditableCollectionView interface also. Can anybody please help me to either give pointers on how to implement this interface or any suggest any other better way to do databinding on custom list. Thanks in advance.

• Need to override drawrect if your UIView is merely a container?

I have a custom UIView subclass that is indeed merely a container for other views. Yet the contained views aren't getting drawn. Here's the pertinent code that sets up the custom UIView subclass: - (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame { if ((self = [super initWithFrame:frame])) { // Consists of both an "on" light and an "off" light. • DRY Validation with MVC2

  Hi All, I'm trying to figure out how I can define validation rules for my domain objects in one single location within my application but have run in to a snag... Some background: My location has several parts: - Database - DAL - Business Logic Layer - SOAP API Layer - MVC website The MVC website accesses the database via the SOAP API, just as third parties would. We are using server and and client side validation on the MVC website as well as in the SOAP API Layer. To avoid having to manually write client side validation we are implementing strongly typed views in conjunction with the Html.TextBoxFor and Html.ValidationMessageFor HTML helpers, as shown in Step 3 here. We also create custom models for each form where one form takes input for multiple domain objects. This is where the problem begins, the HTML helpers read from the model for the data annotation validation attributes. In most cases our forms deal with multiple domain objects and you can't specify more than one type in the <%@Page ... Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage" % page directive. So we are forced to create a custom model class, which would mean duplicating validation attributes from the domain objects on to the model class. I've spent quite some time looking for workarounds to this, such has referencing the same MetadataType from both the domain class and the custom MVC models, but that won't work for several reasons: You can only specify one MetadataType attribute per class, so its a problem if a model references multiple domain objects, each with their own metadata type. The data annotation validation code throws an exception if the model class doesn't contain a property that is specified in the referenced MetadataType which is a problem with the model only deals with a subset of the properties for a given domain object. I've looked at other solutions as well but to no avail. If anyone has any ideas on how to achieve a single source for validation logic that would work across MVC client and server side validation functionality and other locations (such as my SOAP API) I would love to hear it! • Why do I get a connection error / timeout when using python suds to connect to Microsoft CRM?

  When I try to connect to an MS CRM web service using suds/python-ntlm, I am getting a timeout on requests. However, the code that I'm trying to replace -- which calls out to the cURL command line app to do the same call -- succeeds. Clearly something is different in the way that cURL is sending the command data, but I'll be damned if I know what the difference is. Below are the full details of the various calls. • Creating a Sharepoint Development Environment from an Existing Production Environment

  I have very little experience using Sharepoint but a good amount using Visual Studio 2008, SQL Server 2005, Windows Server 2003 and IIS6. I need to create a development environment for a SharePoint 2007 system that will be used internally. The system is already deployed over two servers - one of the servers simply holds the database and everything else is on the other server. We are also using WSS 3.0. I have created a Virtual Machine with all the required software including a clean installation of SharePoint Server 2007 and I wish to use this single Virtual Machine as the development environment. Right now there are no custom assemblies being used on the production server as far as I am aware. There are 3 websites, one over port 80 for user accesss, one over a custom port for central administration, and one over another custom port. Not sure what the last one is for but my blank instance of Sharepoint on my Virtual Machine also has something similar. I attempted to use the STSADM tool to backup and restore these 3 sites from my production environment to my development environment and while the operations completed succesfully, the central administration site in my development environment acted strangely and I could not access port 80 - I did not seem to have correct credentials for it. I suspected that it would not have been so simple so could I please have advice on how to create my development environment so that I can use it to deploy updates to the production one.

• UIButton in UITableViewCell events not working

  I see this problem all over the net, and none of the solutions listed work for me! I have added UIButton to a UITableViewCell in IB. I have assigned a custom UITableViewCell class to the UITableViewCell. My custom UITableViewCell class has an IBAction that im connecting to the Touch Up Inside event (I have tried other events they all don't work) but the IBAction function is never called! There is nothing else in the UITableViewCell, I have added the UIButton directly into the Content View. And everything has user interaction enabled! It is as simple as that I have nothing complex going on! What is is about a UITableViewCell that stops buttons working? • When Logged out, one blog shows - logged in, all blogs show

  I've coded this Wordpress site but I'm finding difficulties with the blog area. Only one blog shows in the blog section but with I am logged in as an admin, I can see all the blogs on the page. I need it to show for everyone, whether they are logged in as a user or just a visitor to the website. I have attempted to see if it was a wordpress issue by checking the 'Settings Reading' settings and they are set just fine, showing to be 10 posts per page.. It could be something wrong with the loop. • Spoofing UserAgent in Opera

  I'm trying to spoof Opera (under linux) to be an other browser, in this case iPad for some testing purposes. Now I know sites can check which browser is accessing the using for example in PHP $useragent = $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']; and in javascript navigator.userAgent (or navigator.platform). In firefox you can use an addon to easily switch your useragent and other relevant information, but in Opera it seems it bit hard to do. First in opera.ini you can do: [User Agent] Spoof UserAgent ID=1 But this is limited to a predefined list of UserAgents. No room for custom ones. Also in opera.ini [ISP] Id=iPad This will add iPad to the User Agent of Opera. It's a start and works most of the time on the sites. In opera.ini you can set a 'User JavaScript file' to load a custom JavaScript file before loading a website: [User Prefs] User JavaScript File=/opera_dir/userjs/load.js In load.js you can do: navigator.userAgent = "Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; U; CPU OS 3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/531.21.10 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.4 Mobile/7B334b Safari/531.21.10" Because this file gets executed before loading the website I can modify the UserAgent, but this won't work when a site is checking the UserAgent via PHP, but it works for sites checking with Javascript) So here's my question: is there another way of spoofing a complete custom UserAgent?
