• ISA - Why do i suddenly need to specify settings on the client machines?

  Have been pulling my hair out over this one for hours, and wondering if someone can help. I have a server with two network interfaces that was running isa 2004 and humming until i installed sbs service pack + isa 2004 service pack 3. Grrrrrrrrrr I can get the client machines to connect to the internet but only by installing the ISA Client on each machine or setting proxy settings etc in the internet settings. Ideally i want the client machines to just work with no configuration or proxy server settings as they were before. Where do i start, and what other information do you need from me if any to find out what im doing wrong Thanks!

• "Sent on behalf" not appearing when delegates sending mails

  Ringo is a delegate of Paul's mailbox in Exchange, but when Ringo sends mail from Paul's mailbox, the recipient sees "Paul" in the sender field, rather than "Paul Sent On Behalf Of Ringo" Paul has set "Editor" permissions for Ringo to his mailbox, and Ringo has been granted "Send on behalf of" permissions in Exchange. Ringo did at one time have "Send As" permissions for Paul's mailbox in Exchange, but this has since been removed. This is also the case for all other delegates to Paul's mailbox. How do I make it so that emails sent by Paul's delegates show the "Sent On Behalf Of" information in the Sender field? Using Exchange Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Outlook 2007

• Generate or update a PDF to include an encrypted, hidden watermark?

  Background Using LaTeX to write a book. When a user purchases the book, the PDF will be generated automatically. Problem The PDF should have a watermark that includes the person's name and contact information. Question What software meets the following criteria: Applies encrypted, invisible watermarks to a PDF Open Source Platform independent (Linux, Windows) Fast (marks a 200 page PDF in under 1 second) Batch processing (exclusively command-line driven) Collusion-attack resistant Non-fragile (e.g., PDF - EPS - PDF still contains the watermark) Well documented (shows example usages) Ideas & Resources Some thoughts and findings: Natural language processing (NLP) watermarks. Apply steganography on a randomly selected image. http://openstego.sourceforge.net/cmdline.html The problem with NLP is that grammatical errors can be introduced. The problem with steganography is that the images are sourced from an image cache, and so recreating that cache with watermarked images will impart a delay when generating the PDF (I could just delete one image from the cache, but that's not an elegant solution). • MaaS minimum requirements with juju-jitsu?

  I've browsed through so many different sites and found so much contradictory information. As I am getting tired of this and do belive this question affects many other users, so I would like to collect the "once and for all times" answer. Unfortunately, the documentation on MaaS and Juju is ... well, not the best, sorry to say that. What are the minimum system requirements for setting up a MaaS cluster, which is going to be orchestrated with juju-jitsu? Do they need to have the exact system specifications or can I just combine different hardware? What are the minimum requirements for the master machine? E.g. "You need at least 8GB of RAM, a dual core CPU with at least 3.0 GHz." How many machines to I need to deploy MaaS on? I've read six machines, nine machines, and so on. I clearly want to know: "You need one for the Master and e.g. five nodes." Do I need to attach as many NICs (network interface cards) to my master machine as there are nodes, or can I simply attach two NICs and a switch? One NIC for connecting to the internet, one for handling the MaaS tasks, connected to a switch, which connects my nodes to the master? Is Juju now ready for local deployment? The last time I experimented with juju and had to reboot my machine, the services orchestrated by juju were gone. This was an issue I also found on the official juju site. Unfortunately, as mentioned above, the documentation is not the best, so I could not find the necessary info on that again. So: Can I use juju on a local environment or will a reboot break my setup?

• Bluetooth mouse Logitech M555b not recognized on a Macbook Pro 8.2

  I just bought a Logitech M555b Bluetooth mouse today. My computer (a Macbook Pro 8,2) has a bluetooth connection, and it works perfectly fine on Mac OSX (I set up a new device, click the connect button on the mouse, and voilà, done in 5 seconds). I cannot get it to work on Ubuntu 12.04. When I follow the same steps as on Mac OSX under Ubuntu 12.04, Sometimes I will see the mouse name appearing for 1 second on the screen, and if I'm fast enough to click on "Continue", I will have a message telling me the pairing with my mouse failed. Here are the steps I follow: Turn off Bluetooth on Ubuntu Turn Bluetooth on. Bluetooth icon Set up new device... Turn on the mouse, and press the Connect button. Press "Continue" on the Bluetooth New Device Setup screen I see the mouse name for one second, but then it disappear. Click on PIN options... to select '0000'. ... nothing, Ubuntu won't see anything. How can I get the Bluetooth to work properly? Help!

  I have installed MySql 5.5 server under windows 2008r2 x64 Apparently I can see that MySql service stops even if is configured to start automatically What can I do to find out why this is happening? MySql database is used as backend of ASP.Net web site Is it possible that web site was not active for a while and system stop mysql service? Update: It was mysql-5.5.7-rc-winx64. I could be an issue with this version (release candidate). Now I am trying to install mysql-5.5.8-winx64 And I have an issue with configuring MySql to work using name pipes I did uncheck use of TCP/IP protocol and configuration wizard just hangs Update: I have found workaround. It is required to configure MySql to use TCP/IP first, then reconfigure to use named pipes It looks like this link also has some information about the possible problems How should I diagnose ERROR 1045 during MySQL installation?

  Hi, I'm trying to print a php generated document in Chrome. On the browser it looks fine, but my printer will not print any coloured backgrounds. I know that IE has an option to print background but Chrome does not. As the end user will print this off, I do not want to find alternatives like a screen grab or save file etc. I want to find a real solution to this. • DNS and IPs - Does DNS send the IP back to the client?

  I ran across a site that talked about routing all cients requesting by IP to a "dead end." The clients accessing the site via ip it claimed were typically automated exploit tools and bots. Legitimate users type in the web address by it's domain question. With this context in mind, I don't really understand how DNS really works. I thought it worked by sending an IP back to a client for the requested DNS (like a phone book.) The client then uses the IP to access the site.   I'm trying to install empathy. Current version has to be installed from source, but needs a list of things that have to be installed one by one. Previous version is in repository, but blinks (opens, then right after that, closes). Previous version of the previous version: apt-cache search -showpkg empathy shows general empathy information and a telepathy too, but not the rpm file name taking the rpm file name from a Google search result, apt-get install package=empathy-2.30.1-2pclos2010 says package package (twice, really) not found installing apturl, clicking the rpm file link, opening it with apturl, installation gui starts, but fails opening the rpm file with Synaptic doesn't work opening the rpm file with /usr/bin/apt-get doesn't work What now?

  I was able to use facebook chat with an external application using the following information: First, find your Facebook username by going to http://www.facebook.com/your_user/. Next, Open iChat, then select iChat » Preferences and click on the Accounts tab. Click on the + (plus) sign to add a new account, with these settings: * Account Type is Jabber Account * Account name is [email protected], and enter your password * Click the drop-down arrow to reveal Server options. Enter chat.facebook.com as the server name. * Enter 5222 as the port and click Done. Click Done again, and you are good to go. From reading this, it seems that it might be possible to telnet into facebook chat. I tried, but wasn't able to. Is it possible? How?

  Great Article, although it is a little dated at this point. Information Week Article Standards Matter: The Battle for Interoperability goes on Summary If you're guilty of relegating standards support to a "nice to have" feature rather than a requirement, you're part of the problem. If you want products to interoperate, be prepared to walk away if a vendor can't prove compliance. Don't be brushed off with promises of standards support "on the road map." The alternative is vendor lock-in and higher costs, including the cost of maintaining systems that don't work together. Standards bodies are imperfect and must do better. The alternative: splintered networks and broken promises. The point: "The secret sauce to a successful 'working standard' isn't necessarily IETF or another longstanding body," says Jonathan Feldman, director of IT services for the city of Asheville, N.C., and an InformationWeek Analytics contributor. "Rather, an earnest and honest effort by a group that has governance outside of a single corporation's control is what's important." In order to have true interoperability vendors as well as customers must be actively engaged in the standards process. Vendors must be willing to truly work together and not be protecting an existing product. Customers must also be willing to truly to work together and not be demanding a solution that only meets their needs but instead meets the needs of all participants. Ultimately, customers must be willing to reward vendor compliance by requiring compliance in products and services that they purchase and deploy. Managers that deploy systems without compliance to standards are only hurting themselves. Standards do matter. When developed openly and deployed compliantly standards deliver interoperability which provides solid business value.

  On November 16, 2011 the source bundle for OpenJDK 6 b24 was published at http://download.java.net/openjdk/jdk6/. The main changes in b24 are the latest round of security updates (e.g. the security changes in jdk repo) and a few other fixes.  For more information see the detailed list of all the changes in OpenJDK 6 B24. Test Results: All the jdk regression tests run with  make test passed. cd jdk6 make make test Per Kelly's  B23 Release blog: The new process is - all the jdk regression tests run with make test should just pass. Over time we will fix the tests that have been excluded, possibly add more tests, and exclude tests that fail to demonstrate stability (with a bug filed against the test). • [Kubuntu 14.04][Eclipse] (ADT) crashes at button OK from Project properties

  Since i upgraded to kubuntu 14.04, my Eclipse crashes at different situations. Mostly i can "simulate" it when going to project properties and press ok. Then it always crashes. But the application appearance also is ugly. Beside that i get a lot of errors/warnings like that: (SWT:6148): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_closure_add_invalidate_notifier: assertion 'closure->n_inotifiers < CLOSURE_MAX_N_INOTIFIERS' failed or other GTK warnings from the particular design, not having theme-engine. Which actually doesn't cause any crahs it seems so far. So i have 3 options: accept crashes accept warnings (maybe the best choice) accept ugly design What can i do to solve this issue without changing the design settings?

• Unhelpful Help

  Up until SQL 2012, I recommended installing Books On-Line (BOL) anywhere you installed SQL Server.  It made looking up reference information simpler, especially when you were on a server that didn’t have direct Internet access.  That all changed today.  I started the new Help Viewer with a local copy of BOL.  I actually found what I was looking for and closed the app.  Or so I thought.  Then I noticed something.  A little parasite had attached itself to my system.      Yep, the “Help” system left an “agent” behind.  Now I shouldn’t have to tell you that running application helper agents on server platforms is a bad idea.  And it gets worse.  There is no way to configure the app so that it does NOT start the parasite agent each time you restart help.  So the solution becomes do not install help on production server platforms.  Which is pretty unhelpful.
