  • How can I embed the result of a rails view in another website?

    - by NotDan
I would like to allow users to call my ruby on rails app as a service which returns a 'div' with html content in it, and embed that div into their app (which will not be a rails application). For example, assume someone has their own php website that has a header/footer template that gets rendered, and a content area of the page that they need to fill based on some html I generate in my rails app. I would like to allow them, from php, to call to my website, get the 'div' I generate, and embed that as html in their php page. What I'm trying to do is host a service on my site that returns some html content, but actually show that content as part of another site, so that the end user only sees the other site and never really knows about mine. Is this possible?

    - by rymarchant
Hi All, I'm running into a similar problem as this: link text I've done the fix as in the answer but now I end up with an error a couple lines later: $$([overlay = (new Element("div", {id: "mbOverlay"})).addEvent("click", close), center = new Element("div", {id: "mbCenter"})]).setStyle is not a function [Break on this error] ]).setStyle("display", "none") It's on this page: link text When you click on 'showreel' it should pop up into the media box, but instead it just goes to a new page. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

  • ExtJS combobox acting like regular select

    - by bensiu
Hi, I try to use ComboBox on FormPanel, it is defined like this: xtype: 'combo', name: 'Reasons', store: new Ext.data.ArrayStore({ id: 0, fields: [ 'myId', 'displayText' ], data: [ [ 1, 'Reason 1' ], [ 2, 'Second Reason' ], [ 3, 'Something else' ] ] }), typeAhead: false, mode: 'local', valueField: 'myId', displayField: 'displayText', allowBlank: false, editable: false, forceSelection: true I would like to act like a ordinary select element, when I have editable as false I not able to re-select anymore, when as true ( default ) I need to remove selection ( by backspace or delete ) in order to re-select. What else I should turn off in order to downgrade combobox to select or shpuld I consider to use other component instead ?

  • Print new line in the source-code with jQuery.

    - by Kucebe
I have a simple function in jQuery that creates new elements in the DOM. the problem is in the html source code, it append every element in the same line, and it's very bad to read. function _loadNewElements(elements){ for(var i=0; i<elements.length; i++){ var fixedElement = $('<img />') var position = elements[i].position; var cssMap = { 'position': 'fixed', 'top': position.top + "px", 'left': position.left + "px" }; fixedElement.css(cssMap); fixedElement.addClass("fixedTag"); fixedElement.attr('alt', elements[i].text); fixedElement.attr('src', "elements/" + elements[i].id + ".png"); fixedElement.appendTo($('#board')); //i'd like to print something here like ("\n"); } } I tried document.write("\n") but in this context it doesn't work. Any solution?

  • Single-Page Web Apps: Client-side datastores & server persistence

    - by fig-gnuton
How should client-side datastores & persistence be handled in a single-page web application? Global vars vs. DI/IoC: Should datastores be assigned to global variables so any part of the application can access them? Or should they be dependency injected where required? Server persistence: Assuming a datastore's data needn't always be persisted to the server immediately, should the datastore itself handle persistence? If not, then what class should handle persistence and how should the persistence class fit into the client-side architecture overall? Is the datastore considered the model in MVC, or is it something else since it just stores raw data?

  • Do word boundaries work on symbol characters?

    - by Shawn31313
I'm trying to implement word boundaries in my emoticons feature for a chat. But for some reason I can't seem to get the word boundaries to work. I am new to regex. So when I do: var reg = /\b\Hi\b/gi; var str = 'HiHiHi Hi HiHiHi Hi'; alert(str.replace(reg, '')); This happens: Jsfiddle It actually works fine, and does remove those 2 Hi's that are standing alone. But when I change the reg to an escaped smiley and then change the string: var reg = /\b\:\)\b/gi; var str = 'HiHi:) :) HiHiHi :)'; alert(str.replace(reg, '')); This happens: Jsfiddle It just doesn't work. The string stays the same. Is it that word boundaries can't be used on symbols? If so, how does Facebook do it on their chats?

  • Regular Expression to return the contents of a HTML tag received as a string of text

    - by Nathan Hernandez
I have a string in my code that I receive that contains some html tags. It is not part of the HTML page being displayed so I cannot grab the html tag contents using the DOM (i.e. document.getElementById('tag id').firstChild.data); So, for example within the string of text would appear a tag like this: 12 My question is how would I use a regular expression to access the '12' numeric digit in this example? This quantity could be any number of digits (i.e. it is not always a double digit). I have tried some regular expressions, but always end up getting the full span tag returned along with the contents. I only want the '12' in the example above, not the surrounding tag. The id of the tags will always be 'myQty' in the string of text I receive. Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Cached Jquery selector behavior that I do not understand

    - by gaoshan88
Given the following code why am I getting different values for a and b? I would have thought they would return the same thing: (function() { var a = $('#foo'); var Test = function(){ console.log(a); //outputs 'jQuery()' var b = $('#foo'); console.log(b); //outputs 'jQuery(select#foo)' which is what I want }; })(); This question stems from me trying to stick frequently used selectors into vars. Originally I was doing it in each method (like I did with var b in the above example) but then I found I needed to use the selectors in multiple methods so I moved the assignment out to be available (or so I thought) to all of the methods in that anonymous function. As you can see, it does not work. Why is this?

  • Is the google docs embeddable previewer out of beta and will it have an have an API?

    - by Jonathan Hendler
https://docs.google.com/viewer is awesome, but there are some customizations I need to make, and documentation would be helpful. Discovered here http://googlesystem.blogspot.com... . Haven't seen any public documentation that would help. http://code.google.com/apis/documents/overview.html covers the Google docs - where the above is more a clone of the Google Books previewer http://books.google.com/books .

  • JS: Object itteration fails

    - by Newbie
    Hello! In my JS, I have an object called box_object. It looks like this: ({ id:"3", text:"this is a box object", connection_parent:["1", "2"], connection_child:["5", "6"], connectiondata_child:{ 0:{id:"5", linepoint:"bottom"}, 1:{id:"6", linepoint:"bottom"}}, connectiondata_parent:{ 0:{id:"1", linepoint:"top"}, 1:{id:"2", linepoint:"top"}} }) Now, I want to add some position values to box_object.connectiondata_parent. Using jQuery I can use the .each() method. So I tried it, but it failed. In my function I do the following: $(box_object.connectiondata_parent).each(function(it, obj){ if(typeof(obj[it]) != "undefined" && obj[it].linepoint == "top"){ var point_position_top = new Object(); point_position_top.left = startingpoint_left; point_position_top.top = startingpoint_top; obj[it].position = point_position_top; }else if(typeof(obj[it]) != "undefined" && obj[it].linepoint == "bottom"){ var point_position_bottom = new Object(); point_position_bottom.left = startingpoint_left; point_position_bottom.top = startingpoint_bottom; obj[it].position = point_position_bottom; }else{} }); After the function my box_object looks like this: ({ id:"3", text:"this is third box", connection_parent:["1", "2"], connection_child:["5", "6"], connectiondata_child:{ 0:{id:"5", linepoint:"bottom"}, 1:{id:"6", linepoint:"bottom"}}, connectiondata_parent:{ 0:{id:"1", linepoint:"top", position:{left:500, top:104}}, 1:{id:"2", linepoint:"top"}} }) It seems it only writes the values to the first "value". Any Ideas why?

    - by HP
I have an embed window media player which is always on top of other DIV tags. I used wmode = opaque; WindowlessVideo = -1 but it does not help. • Cookie value to define style on page load

    - by zac
I am using the scripts from here http://www.quirksmode.org/js/cookies.html and have successfully created a cookie.. but am having trouble doing anything with it. I would like to have a style defined if a cookie is present. The function for the readCookie is function readCookie(name) { var nameEQ = name + "="; var ca = document.cookie.split(';'); for(var i=0;i < ca.length;i++) { var c = ca[i]; while (c.charAt(0)==' ') c = c.substring(1,c.length); if (c.indexOf(nameEQ) == 0) return c.substring(nameEQ.length,c.length); } return null; } I am trying to use it on page load with something like this window.onload=function(){ var x = readCookie('myCookieValue'); if (x) { document.getElementById('div').innerHTML = "<style type=\"text/css\">.form {display:none}</style>"; } } What would be the correct way of writing this?

  • Fix internal links in JS

    - by FB55
I just created a script which extracts the article out of a webpage via server-side JS. (If your interested: it's used for http://pipes.yahoo.com/fb55/expandr .) I just got a little problem with internal links. Some pages include links like: /subfolder/subpage.html What I would need to do is fixing them and setting there root, like this: protocol://secondlevel.firstlevel/subfolder/subpage.html I'm using E4X for processing the page. I don't want to show my current creepy try, it's buggy and slow. Does anybody have a solution for me?

  • How to split page and reveal stuff underneath?

    - by sudo rm -rf
Hi there. I've already achieved this on my iPhone app, but I want to know if it's possible on an HTML page, maybe using CSS effects or similar. As you can see, the current view is split, the bottom part is moved down, and another view is revealed underneath. I have a page I'd like to try this on. Any ideas if this is possible, and any specifics as to how I can do it? I'm quite new to HTML coding, so please take it easy on me. :) Thanks in advance!
