• Utilu IE Collection IE6 crashes under Windows 7

  I've installed Utilu IE Collection under Windows 7 64-bit, but am unable to successfully run IE6 (specifically, "Internet Explorer 6.0 (6.00.2900.2180)"). I haven't tried other versions of IE from the package, so their behavior is unknown. It starts up fine, but the address bar isn't shown. (Attempted to post image, but I'm a newbie on SU and it wouldn't let me. Can be found here.) View-Toolbars shows 'Address Bar' already selected. • PHP pages are not parsed by Apache on CentOS

  I have installed Centos 5.x, Apache 2.2, PHP 5.3 and MySQL 5.5. I also installed phpMyAdmin. I am able to access phpMyAdmin through the browser without any issues. However, when I create a simple index.php with phpinfo() function in the default directory, that page is served without php parsing. As we all know, phpMyAdmin is a php application. This is working fine from the same server but not the simple php page from the doc root directory ??!!!. Of course, I tried moving this page into phpMyAdmin folder and tried accessing it, but no success. Please note that I updated httpd.conf file with appropriate directives based on the php installation guide.Following directives were added to httpd.conf. • How do I set up Tomcat 7's server.xml to access a network share with an different url?

  I have Apache Tomcat 7.0 installed on a Windows 2008 R2 Server. Tomcat has access to a share '\server\share' that has a documents folder that I want to access using '/foo/Documents' in my web application. My application is able to access the documents when I set the file path to '//server/share/documents/doc1.doc'. I don't want the file server's path to be exposed on my link to the file in my application. I want to be able to set the path to '/foo/Documents/doc1.doc'. In http://www3.ntu.edu.sg/home/ehchua/programming/howto/Tomcat_More.html under 'Setting the Context Root Directory and Request URL of a Webapp' item number two says that I can rename the path by putting in a context to the server.xml file.   Application Server Windows Server 2003 SP2 with IIS 6.0 IIS has a "Default Web Site" (port 18000, ssl 443, ID=1) with a certificate created by me. I have an specific site called "scj.galaxy.Weekly" (port 80, ssl 443, ID=1272369728) that is working fine. I have an entry in windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts that links galaxy.Weekly.scjdev.ds to the server ip in both my local machine and in the application Server. These sites works: http://scj.galaxy.weekly/test.html works http://scj.galaxy.weekly/test.aspx works But https://scj.galaxy.weekly/test.html fails Error message is: The connection was reset The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. The certificate was working fine for months. It was created with something similar to this: Selfssl /N:CN=*.scjdev.ds /V:3650 /S:1 /P:443 I have tried several options and none of them are working: 1) Create a certificate only in "Default Web Site" and link it to SecureBindings with command prompt cscript adsutil.vbs set /w3svc/1272369728/SecureBindings ":443:galaxy.Weekly.scjdev.ds" 2) Create a certificate only in "Galaxy Site" and link it to SecureBindings 3) Create a certificate in both and link them to secureBindings.   I tried the code provided by vba express for combining sheet, while execution it is displaying Run Time error 1004: Application Defined or Object Defined Error: My Scenario is: I have a Excel, in that I have first sheet "Connection" and after it I have Sheet1, Sheet2 and so on. • SQL Server 2012 memory usage steadily growing

  I am very worried about the SQL Server 2012 Express instance on which my database is running: the SQL Server process memory usage is growing steadily (1.5GB after only 2 days working). The database is made of seven tables, each having a bigint primary key (Identity) and at least one non-unique index with some included columns to serve the majority of incoming queries. An external application is calling via Microsoft OLE DB some stored procedures, each of which do some calculations using intermediate temporary tables and/or table variables and finally do an upsert (UPDATE....IF @@ROWCOUNT=0 INSERT.....) - I never DROP those temporary tables explicitly: the frequency of those calls is about 100 calls every 5 seconds (I saw that the DLL used by the external application open a connection to SQL Server, do the call and then close the connection for each and every call). The database files are organized in only one filgegroup, recovery type is set to simple. Some questions to diagnose the problem: is that steadily growing memory normal? did I do any mistake in database design which probably lead to this behaviour? (no explicit temp-table drop, filegroup organization, etc) can SQL Server manage such a stored procedure call rate (100 calls every 5 seconds, i.e. 100 upsert every 5 seconds, beyond intermediate calculations)? do the continuous "open connection/do sp call/close connection" pattern disturb SQL Server? is it possible to diagnose what is causing such a memory usage? Perhaps queues of wating requests? (I ran sp_who2, but I didn't see a big amount of orphan connections from the external application) if I restrict the amount of memory which SQL Server is allowed to use, may I sooner or later get into trouble?

I'm in the process of creating requirements for an internal PHP web server to submit to our architecture team and would like to get some insight whether to use a Windows or *nix platform and what applications would be required. The server will host a small PHP application that will be connecting to SQL Server. The application will need to send mail. We would also like to incorporate a FTP server to allow files to be dropped in. From what I've read regarding a Windows platform using IIS, it seems as though IIS would only be advantageous if using a .NET or ASP application. Does IIS have mail functionality? Or how is mail traditionally configured (esp. on *nix)? Also, does IIS have directory configuration functionality like Apache does with .htaccess? • How to keep multiple servers in sync file wise?

  I'm currently managing a cluster of PHP-FPM servers, all of which tend to get out of sync with each other. The application that I'm using on top of the app servers (Magento) allows for admins to modify various files on the system, but now that the site is in a clustered set up modifying a file only modifies it on a single instance (on one of the app servers) of the various machines in the cluster. Is there an open-source application for Linux that may allow me to keep all of these servers in sync? I have no problem with creating a small VM instance that can listen for changes from machines to sync. In theory, the perfect application would have small clients that run on each machine to be synced, which would talk to the master server which would then decide how/what to sync from each machine. I have already examined the possibilities of running a centralized file server, but unfortunately my app servers are spread out between EC2 and physical machines, which makes this unfeasible. As there are multiple app servers (some of which are dynamically created depending on the load of the site), simply setting up a rsync cron job is not efficient as the cron job would have to be modified on each machine to send files to every other machine in the cluster, and that would just be a whole bunch of unnecessary data transfers/ssh connections.

• Problem running MVC3 app in IIS 7

  I am having a problem getting a MVC 3 project running in IIS7 on a computer running Windows 7 Home-64 bit. Here is what I did. Installed IIS 7. Accessed the server and got the IIS welcome page. Created a directory named d:\MySite and copied the MVC application to it. (The MVC app is just the standard app that is created when you create a new MVC3 project in visual studio. It just displays a home page and an account logon page. It runs fine inside the Visual Studio development server and I also copied it out to my hosting site and it works fine there) Started IIS management console. Stopped the default site. Added a new site named "MySite" with a physical directory of "d:\Mysite" Changed the application pool named MySite to use .Net Framework 4.0, Integrated pipeline When I access the site in the browser I get a list of the files in the d:\MySite directory. It is as if IIS is not recognizing the contents of d:\MySite as an MVC application. What do I need to do to resolve this?

  Hello, I am interested in deploying several RHEL 4 Update 8 virtual machines for creation of a test environment. Here are the steps I am taking: In off hours, P2V/V2V the production machines and convert them to templates Deploy the virtual machines with a customization specification that changes hostname, IP address I am interested in how these processes are done and if there are any options for further customization. Are the machines brought on the network when they are powered on, before they are reconfigured? Is there a potential IP address conflict? Is there an option to run additional scripts which reside on the guest as a part of the reconfiguration? For example, restoring an Oracle Database. This is an option with Windows guests and sysprep, but I have been unable to locate anything showing a RHEL equivalent. I am dealing with a multi tier application. The main issue I am attempting to mitigate is that the application servers reference database servers by hostname and in tnsnames files. I am interested in scripting the reconfiguration of the application in the deployment so that the app/db servers are pointing to the test environment. I am OK with placing the 'cleanup' script on the source and executing it after the machine has been brought up. I am interested in the automation of the script's execution post clone/boot, as well as if there could be an IP address conflict. (cross posted to VMTN's ESX 4 community)

• Several web applications on a single port

  We're developing an online browser-based game. The game itself is a plugin in the web page, that uses TCP connection to a game server, and also sends http requests to "content server" web application. This makes 3 servers total: the site itself, game server and content server. Site and content server are IIS web applications, game server is a custom application communicating over TCP with proprietary protocol. While the game is in beta stage, all these servers are physically hosted on a single machine, and distinguished by ports. For example, website is game.example.com:80, game server is game.example.com:34285 and content server is game.example.com:50000. This works OK most of the time, but some of our players have ports other than 80 closed. Is there any way to make all these application work through port 80, while still having them one one physical server? Maybe using different sub-domains? There's probably a way to make IIS forward requests to different web applications based on URL alone, but that doesn't help with game server. Edit Server is Windows Server 2008, IIS 7

• Software disables itself when the PC is accessed via RDP

  We have a large, specialty printer that has vendor specific software that enables its use outside of it showing up simply as a printer in the Windows Control Panel. This software recognizes when we RDP into the machine and "disconnects" the PC from the printer within its proprietary control panel. All is well when an application like TeamViewer is used to access the machine. Ostensibly, the application is helping us be safe by "enforcing" that the machine used for the printer is a walk up workstation, or so the support folks informed me. If TeamViewer etc, fixes the issue, then what is the problem? We have many headless workstations in our warehouse attached to a variety of specialty machines, all used via RDP. We want/need to keep access to the machines the same for the sanity of our production staff. The meat of the question - how, specifically, might a machine know that it is being accessed via RDP (terminal services management???) and how might this be defeated without altering an application or driver. Of note, the system being used is a Windows 7 Pro machine hooked to the printer via USB. Thanks! Nat edit Is there any combination of /admin switches, etc. that will possibly fix this?   Let me start by saying that I am not a server guy - I am a developer. But I develop and manage an ASP.NET application that uses Windows authentication. I've run into the problem I am about to describe before, and I would just like to understand how to remedy it since I am the one who always gets the original support request. A user, let's call her JaneDoe, has just gotten married and her login has been changed to JaneJones. We have an application that uses Windows authentication to store the user's login name to a table and then redirects the user to another non-Windows authenticated site with a GUID which points to the table entry we just made. When the user reaches the second site, we read in the login name from the database using the GUID that was passed. Then, we look up the login name in another database where we track application permissions. The problem is that the user is logging into her workstation as JaneJones, but the Windows authenticated site is still receiving a login name of JaneDoe. Is this a domain controller issue? Is it a workstation issue? What's the best way to resolve this?

  We have a number of Database severs running MongoDB on Debian plus a number of Application servers also on Debian. The db servers hold replicating db clusters, so they need to talk to each other. Application servers need to talk to all db servers (for reasons of fault tolerance). The servers are potentially spread across multiple hosting centers, so we need secure channels between all servers. The number of servers is bound to grow, so we need a VPN solution that's easy to maintain and expand. This is why I feel that SSH that we use for testing might not be up to the task and OpenVPN seems the way to go. I have ruled out TAP, since I understand that this would mean all traffic going to all the servers - perhaps this is a misunderstanding and TAP acts more like a switch? With TUN devices I imagine that all DB servers would live in their own separate subnet, they would also need a client configured to be able to connect to each of their peers. The application servers could live in a common subnet range with a client config only. Does this sound like a reasonable setup? Strangely, on the web I did not find anything about multi-server with OpenVPN. Thanks for all insights and ideas!

  Hi all, I couldn't find a duplicate question, but I was wondering what the differences are between different read/write speeds for Bluray drive. I'm planning on buying one for a build but don't know if I can cheap out on getting a Bluray 2x drive or spend more money for a quality Bluray 8x drive. Will I just experience more lag/buffering times for Bluray discs on a 2x and none for a 6x or 8x? Thanks in advance.

• Any reason not to disable Windows kernel paging?

  So I'm planning on eventually going to 2 GB (mobo max) RAM from 1 GB, and I want to disable kernel paging once I do, because I've heard it can give a performance boost (and that I believe). Any reason not to do it or any general thoughts about it? Edit: for clarification, this is not disabling general RAM paging. This is disabling having kernel memory paged (or at least parts of it, as Charlls noted).

• How much time do I have to remove a domain controller that was lost using metadata cleanup?

  I am wondering how long after a Domain Controller has been permanently lost, from the domain due to it dying from hardware perspective, do I have before I have to clean up references of it using meta data cleanup? Planning on doing it soon but not sure if there is anything I should be concerned about. This dead or lost domain controller had no roles other than being a Domain Controller and having integrated Active Directory DNS. As well it held NO FSMO roles, it was just an older replication Domain Controller.

I use TrueImage on a regular basis to make backups, and to upgrade my harddrive without reinstalling everything. Will I be able to restore and boot onto an SSD?   i have a situation here, i bought a new dell xps 15z and was successful in making drive partitions through the help of this site (http://superuser.com/questions/313082/dell-xps-15-l502x-hard-drive-partition) now i have drive C with 100.55gb and a new volume with 578.45gb im planning to use EaseUS again to undo this and resize my drive C but im scared i might cause damage to my drive, is there a proper way to undo this and transfer the remaining 78.45gb from the new volume back to my drive C again? please help
