  I made a css menu with css sprites but the problem is with sprite we don't use inline image we use in background only so if images are disabled in browser then nothing will show . any solution for this ? • Thoughts on moving to Maven in an enterprise environment

  I'm interested in hearing from those who either A) use Maven in an enterprise environment or B) tried to use Maven in an enterprise environment. I work for a large company that is contemplating bringing in Maven into our environment. Currently we use OpenMake to build/merge and home-grown software to deploy code to 100+ servers running various platforms (eg. WAS and JBoss). OpenMake works fine for us however Maven does have some ideal features, most importantly being dependency management, but is it viable in a large environment? Also what headaches have/did you incur, if any, in maintaining a Maven environment.   So I'm using a basic formmail script. Within the script I'm using a redirect variable. The value of the redirect is something like,"http://www.mysite.com/NewOLS_GCUK_EN/bling.aspx?BC=GCUK&IBC=CSEE&SIBC=CSEE" When the redirect action happens however, the url appears in the browser as: http://www.mysite.com/NewOLS_GCUK_EN/bling.aspx?BC=GCUK&amp;IBC=CSEE&amp;SIBC=CSEE you can see the &'s are replaced with "& a m p ;" is there any way to fix this?   Consider a link to a page for a user's profile. A page is creating that URL like this: //Model.Name has value "<bad guy>" Html.ActionLink("foo, "ViewUser", new { id=5, title=Url.Encode(Model.Name) }) The actual outcome was http://mysite/Users/5/%253cbad%2guy%253e When navigating to that URL, the server generates a HTTP Error 400 - Bad Request. Question: Given that the Model.Name may contain Unicode characters, or characters otherwise illegal in URLs, what's the best way to strip out illegal characters, or otherwise encode them? The problem surfaces when testing out 'interesting' user inputs with < and >, but anything could come from the user, and therefore be put in a URL by way of Model.Name.

  In 2010, would you serve URLs containing UTF-8 characters in a large web portal? Unicode characters are forbidden as per the RFC on URLs (see here). They would have to be percent encoded to be standards compliant. My main point, though, is serving the unencoded characters for the sole purpose of having nice-looking URLs, so percent encoding is out. All major browsers seem to be parsing those URLs okay no matter what the RFC says. My general impression, though, is that it gets very shaky when leaving the domain of web browsers: URLs getting copy+pasted into text files, E-Mails, even Web sites with a different encoding HTTP Client libraries Exotic browsers, RSS readers Is my impression correct that trouble is to be expected here, and thus it's not a practical solution (yet) if you're serving a non-technical audience and it's important that all your links work properly even if quoted and passed on? Is there some magic way of serving nice-looking URLs in HTML http://www.example.com/düsseldorf?neighbourhood=Lörick that can be copy+pasted with the special characters intact, but work correctly when re-used in older clients?

• How can I scrape the current webpage with php/javascript?

  I have made the following webpage for generating interactive todo lists: http://robert-kent.com/todo/todo.php Basically, the user pastes a numbered todo list and each task is placed into it's own div with a unique id. Users can add notes to the tasks (done with javascript) and can click the green check when the task is done to hide it. I'd like to add an Export button which would generate a report of which tasks were completed and which were not, along with the user-entered notes. After a bit of searching I understand that what I want to do is scrape the page, but I haven't the faintest idea of the best way to do it. Many of the articles and tutorials I have found with Google involve scraping other sites and don't really explain how I could iterate over each div on the page.   I am trying to prototype a Rpc Call to a JBOSS webserver from Silverlight (4). I have written the code and it is working in a console application - so I know that Jboss is responding to the web request. Porting it to silverlight 4, is causing issues: let uri = new Uri(queryUrl) // this is the line that hangs let request : HttpWebRequest = downcast WebRequest.Create(uri) request.Method <- httpMethod; request.ContentType <- contentType It may be a sandbox issue, as my silverlight is being served off of my file system and the Uri is a reference to the localhost - though I am not even getting an exception. Thoughts? Thx UPDATE 1 I created a new project and ported my code over and now it is working; something must be unstable w/ regard to the F# Silverlight integration still. Still would appreciate thoughts on debugging the "hanging" web create in the old model...   I'm using wget in a php script and need to get the name of the file downloaded. The page will not always be google though, so I need to find out the name of the file that was downloaded.   Hey, Has anyone been able to get the Areas in ASP.NET MVC 2 to work? I created a new Area called "Secure" and placed a new controller in it named HomeController. I then Created a new Home/Index.aspx view. However, when I browse to http://localhost/myapp/Secure/ it gives a 404 resource cannot be found. http://localhost/myapp/Secure/Home gives the same error.   I need to build a DSL Solution using MsBuild and want to be able to transform the TT files, I have tried the guide on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee847423(VS.100).aspx but I am getting the following errors: Failed to resolve include text for file:{0} and also Loading the include file '{0}' returned a null or empty string. There is a page on MSDN which has these issues and there resolutions : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb126242(VS.100).aspx but don't really give me enough information to resolve the issue. One thing to note in the error it has the following path: Error 72 Failed to resolve include text for file:C:\source\XXXXXXXX\Dsl\GeneratedCode\Dsl\ToolboxHelper.tt. Line=-1, Column=-1 Dsl but the location of the actual TT file is C:\source\XXXXXXXX\Dsl\GeneratedCode\ToolboxHelper.tt

  Hi I have done a bit of searching for a solution to wrap text around an image and came across the JQSlickWrap. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2457266/jquery-plugin-to-wrap-text-around-images-support-ie6 But it is not working in IE. Is there another way to wrap text around an image? Or is that just not possible for IE yet?...   I have an XML document that has a collection of objects. Each object has a key/value pair of label and value. I am trying to convert this into a DataSet, but when I do ds.ReadXml(xmlFile), then it creates two columns: label and value. • How to make parameters optional when using Rails named routes?

  I have a named route: map.find '/find/:category/:state/:search_term/:permalink', :search_term=>nil, :controller=>'find', :action=>'show_match' and the following URL matches it & works OK: http://localhost:3000/find/cars/ca/TestSeachTerm/bumpedupphoto-test but if I take out the 2nd last parameter i.e. "TestSearchTerm", then the route fails to get matched, even though I have :search_term=nil in the route. http://localhost:3000/find/cars/ca//bumpedupphoto-test Can anyone see what I am doing wrong? Being trying to solve this for a few days now. Thanks!
