  • zend_form display group inside foreach

    - by Mike
    I want to create a display group generated from foreach() clause output. I can't seem to get the syntax correct. Here's the business logic: for each category row find the associated fees output the category description as a label and the fees as radio buttons then create a display group with the fees as the group elements and the category description as the legend. I then have a style sheet format the elements on the page. and here's the code: foreach ($categoryData as $categoryRow) { $fees[$i] = new Zend_Form_Element_Radio("fees[$i]"); $fees[$i]->setDescription(strval($categoryRow['description'])); foreach ($feeData as $feeRow) { if ($feeRow['categories_idCategory'] == $categoryRow['idCategory']){ $fees[$i] ->addMultiOption($feeRow['idFees'] . '-' . $feeRow['categories_idCategory'], $feeRow['amount'] . '-' . $feeRow['name']); } } $fees[$i]->setRequired(TRUE); $this->addElements(array($fees[$i])); $this->addDisplayGroup($feeRow['name'], 'feeGroup',array('legend' => strval($feeRow['description']))); $i++; } I tried placing the addDisplayGroup() code within the foreach(), but I get the error: Message: No valid elements specified for display group So, my guess is that I'm making some kind of novice mistake that you experts will spot right away. I appreciate your time and attention to this matter.

  • Best Youtube embed player sizes?

    - by Xeoncross
    I use tumblr to share videos and, unfortunately, when re-posting a video to your tumblelog it uses the embed code at 400x336px. This is neither widescreen nor very large. So I'm trying to set the player to better size and I'm finding that the youtube player really comes in many sizes. For example, when copying the embed code for and HD video I get the sizes 560x340, 640x385, and 853x505. Then when I look at the embed code for a SD video I get the sizes 425x344, 480x385, and 640x505. I was having the best luck with setting the player to 640 x 505 as it was large enough for HD and perfect for SD. print str_replace( array('400', '336'), array('640', '505'), $video_player_html); Has anyone dealt with trying to find a good standard embed size for a site? One thing that would make this a lot easier is to know whether the video was HD or not - however, that info is not provided in the embed code. I guess I am actually more interested in knowing the right ratio (or specific size) to use that works the best for youtube's mixed content.

  • Explicit behavior with checks vs. implicit behavior

    - by Silviu
    I'm not sure how to construct the question but I'm interested to know what do you guys think of the following situations and which one would you prefer. We're working at a client-server application with winforms. And we have a control that has some fields automatically calculated upon filling another field. So we're having a field currency which when filled by the user would determine an automatic filling of another field, maybe more fields. When the user fills the currency field, a Currency object would be retrieved from a cache based on the string introduced by the user. If entered currency is not found in the cache a null reference is returned by the cache object. Further down when asking the application layer to compute the other fields based on the currency, given a null currency a null specific field would be returned. This way the default, implicit behavior is to clear all fields. Which is the expected behavior. What i would call the explicit implementation would be to verify that the Currency object is null in which case the depending fields are cleared explicitly. I think that the latter version is more clear, less error prone and more testable. But it implies a form of redundancy. The former version is not as clear and it implies a certain behavior from the application layer which is not expressed in the tests. Maybe in the lower layer tests but when the need arises to modify the lower layers, so that given a null currency something else should be returned, i don't think a test that says just that without a motivation is going to be an impediment for introducing a bug in upper layers. What do you guys think?

  • Dynamically created "CheckBoxList" in placeholder controls throwing null reference exception error d

    - by newName
    I have a web form that will dynamically create a number of checkboxlist filled with data based on the number of row in database. Then this is added to a placeholder to be displayed. theres a button when clicked, will add the selected check boxes value into database but right now when the button is clicked and after the postback, the page will show the error "System.NullReferenceException". the following code is written in Page_Load in (!Page.IsNotPostBack) and in a loop that will dynamically create a number of checkboxlist: CheckBoxLis chkContent = new CheckBoxList(); chkContent.ID = chkIDString; //chkIDString is an incremental int based on the row count chkContent.RepeatDirection = RepeatDirection.Horizontal; foreach (List<t> contentList in List<t>) //data retrieved as List<t> using LINQ { ListItem contents = new ListItem(); contents.Text = contentList.Title; contents.Value = contentList.contentID.ToString(); chkContent.Items.Add(contents); } plcSchool.Controls.Add(chkContent); //plcSchool is my placeholder plcSchool.Controls.Add(new LiteralControl("<br>")); protected void btnAdd_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { CheckBoxList cbl = Page.FindControl("chkContent4") as CheckBoxList; Response.Write(cbl.SelectedValue.ToString()); // now im just testing to get the value from one of the checkboxlist } Anyone able to help, as it seems the controls are not recreated after the postback, therefore it can't find the control and throwing the null reference exception.

    Hi, when using this method public List<Field> getFieldWithoutId(List<Integer> idSections) throws Exception { try { Connection conn = this.getConnection(); Array arraySections = conn.createArrayOf("int4", idSections.toArray()); this.log.info("Recupero field"); List<Field> fields = this.getJdbcTemplate().query(getFieldWithoutIdQuery, new Object[] {arraySections},ParameterizedBeanPropertyRowMapper.newInstance(Field.class)); /*if (!conn.isClosed()) conn.close(); */ releaseConnection(conn); return fields; } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); throw new Exception("Errore."); } } I have an exception at conn.createArrayOf("int4", idSections.toArray());. The exception is: javax.ejb.EJBException : Unexpected Error java.lang.AbstractMethodError: org.jboss.resource.adapter.jdbc.jdk5.WrappedConnectionJDK5.createArrayOf(Ljava/lang/String;[Ljava/lang/Object;)Ljava/sql/Array; postgresql-8.4-701.jdbc4.jar is in jboss/server/all/lib dir.   • Multithreaded search with UISearchDisplayController

    - by Kulpreet
    I'm sort of new to any sort of multithreading and simply can't seem to get a simple search method working on a background thread properly. Everything seems to be in order with an NSAutoreleasePool and the UI being updated on the main thread. The app doesn't crash and does perform a search in the background but the search results yield the several of the same items several times depending on how fast I type it in. The search works properly without the multithreading (which is commented out), but is very slow because of the large amounts of data I am working with. Here's the code: - (void)filterContentForSearchText:(NSString*)searchText { NSAutoreleasePool *apool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; isSearching = YES; //[self.filteredListContent removeAllObjects]; // First clear the filtered array. for (Entry *entry in appDelegate.entries) { NSComparisonResult result = [entry.item compare:searchText options:(NSCaseInsensitiveSearch|NSDiacriticInsensitiveSearch) range:NSMakeRange(0, [searchText length])]; if (result == NSOrderedSame) { [self.filteredListContent addObject:entry]; } } isSearching=NO; [self.searchDisplayController.searchResultsTableView performSelectorOnMainThread:(@selector(reloadData)) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:NO]; //[self.searchDisplayController.searchResultsTableView reloadData]; [apool drain]; } - (BOOL)searchDisplayController:(UISearchDisplayController *)controller shouldReloadTableForSearchString:(NSString *)searchString { [NSObject cancelPreviousPerformRequestsWithTarget:self selector:@selector(filteredListContent:) object:searchString]; [self.filteredListContent removeAllObjects]; // First clear the filtered array. [self performSelectorInBackground:(@selector(filterContentForSearchText:)) withObject:searchString]; //[self filterContentForSearchText:searchString]; // Return YES to cause the search result table view to be reloaded. return NO; }

  • Are there any decent free JAVA data plotting libraries out there?

    - by Kurt W. Leucht
    On a recent JAVA project, we needed a free JAVA based real-time data plotting utility. After much searching, we found this tool called the Scientific Graphics Toolkit or SGT from NOAA. It seemed pretty robust, but we found out that it wasn't terribly configurable. Or at least not configurable enough to meet our needs. We ended up digging very deeply into the JAVA code and reverse engineering the code and changing it all around to make the plot tool look and act the way we wanted it to look and act. Of course, this killed any chance for future upgrades from NOAA. So what free or cheap JAVA based data plotting tools or libraries do you use? Followup: Thanks for the JFreeChart suggestions. I checked out their website and it looks like a very nice data charting and plotting utility. I should have made it clear in my original question that I was looking specifically to plot real-time data. I corrected my question above to make that point clear. It appears that JFreeChart support for live data is marginal at best, though. Any other suggestions out there?

  • Making pascal's triangle with mpz_t's

    - by SDLFunTimes
    Hey, I'm trying to convert a function I wrote to generate an array of longs that respresents Pascal's triangles into a function that returns an array of mpz_t's. However with the following code: mpz_t* make_triangle(int rows, int* count) { //compute triangle size using 1 + 2 + 3 + ... n = n(n + 1) / 2 *count = (rows * (rows + 1)) / 2; mpz_t* triangle = malloc((*count) * sizeof(mpz_t)); //fill in first two rows mpz_t one; mpz_init(one); mpz_set_si(one, 1); triangle[0] = one; triangle[1] = one; triangle[2] = one; int nums_to_fill = 1; int position = 3; int last_row_pos; int r, i; for(r = 3; r <= rows; r++) { //left most side triangle[position] = one; position++; //inner numbers mpz_t new_num; mpz_init(new_num); last_row_pos = ((r - 1) * (r - 2)) / 2; for(i = 0; i < nums_to_fill; i++) { mpz_add(new_num, triangle[last_row_pos + i], triangle[last_row_pos + i + 1]); triangle[position] = new_num; mpz_clear(new_num); position++; } nums_to_fill++; //right most side triangle[position] = one; position++; } return triangle; } I'm getting errors saying: incompatible types in assignment for all lines where a position in the triangle is being set (i.e.: triangle[position] = one;). Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

  • Perl XML SAX parser emulating XML::Simple record for record

    - by DVK
    Short Q summary: I am looking a fast XML parser (most likely a wrapper around some standard SAX parser) which will produce per-record data structure 100% identical to those produced by XML::Simple. Details: We have a large code infrastructure which depends on processing records one-by-one and expects the record to be a data structure in a format produced by XML::Simple since it always used XML::Simple since early Jurassic era. An example simple XML is: <root> <rec><f1>v1</f1><f2>v2</f2></rec> <rec><f1>v1b</f1><f2>v2b</f2></rec> <rec><f1>v1c</f1><f2>v2c</f2></rec> </root> And example rough code is: sub process_record { my ($obj, $record_hash) = @_; # do_stuff } my $records = XML::Simple->XMLin(@args)->{root}; foreach my $record (@$records) { $obj->process_record($record) }; As everyone knows XML::Simple is, well, simple. And more importantly, it is very slow and a memory hog - due to being a DOM parser and needing to build/store 100% of data in memory. So, it's not the best tool for parsing an XML file consisting of large amount of small records record-by-record. However, re-writing the entire code (which consist of large amount of "process_record"-like methods) to work with standard SAX parser seems like an big task not worth the resources, even at the cost of living with XML::Simple. What I'm looking for is an existing module which will probably be based on a SAX parser (or anything fast with small memory footprint) which can be used to produce $record hashrefs one by one based on the XML pictured above that can be passed to $obj->process_record($record) and be 100% identical to what XML::Simple's hashrefs would have been. I don't care much what the interface of the new module is - e.g whether I need to call next_record() or give it a callback coderef accepting a record.

  • PHP SoapClient() function returning a single XML string

    - by gjb
    I am having difficulty with the PHP SoapClient() function. The SOAP request is successful, but the response is returned as an object containing a single XML string with the key "any". For example: <?php $params = array('strUsername' => 'Test', 'strPassword' => 'Test'); $client=new SoapClient('http://www.example.com/webservice.asmx?wsdl', array('features' => SOAP_SINGLE_ELEMENT_ARRAYS)); $result = $client->strExampleCall($params); print_r($result); ?> This outputs the following: stdClass Object ( [strExampleCallResult] => stdClass Object ( [any] => <Response xmlns="" release="1.0.0" environment="Production" lang="en-GB"><ApplicationArea><Sender><SenderId>0</SenderId><ReferenceId>0</ReferenceId></Sender><Destination><DestinationId>1</DestinationId></Destination></ApplicationArea><DataArea><Result>1</Result></DataArea></Response> ) ) Subsequently, I cannot access properties of the object as I'd expect to: echo $result->strExampleCallResult->Response->DataArea->Result; Why isn't PHP parsing the SOAP response into properties of the returned object? I am using PHP 5.3.0 and believe the SOAP server is running .NET. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

  • Avoid PHP timeout when sending newsletter

    - by Lars
    Hi, I have recently implemented the Swiftmailer library, but the first time I used it, I got a php timeout error even though it only had to send out mails to around 300 people.. (I should mention that using the set_time_limit(0); workaround is not an option due to restrictions on the server) The way I use it is like this: $transport = Swift_SmtpTransport::newInstance('smtp.mydomain.com',25); $mailer = Swift_Mailer::newInstance($transport); $message = Swift_Message::newInstance(); $message->setSubject($_POST['subj']); $message->setFrom(array('email' => 'Mysite')); $message->setTo($recipients); $message->setBody(strip_tags($messagebody)); $message->addPart($messagebody, 'text/html'); $numSent = $mailer->batchSend($message); printf("Sent %d messages\n", $numSent); where $recipients is a commaseparated array of emails (built with explode() from a mySQL query).. I have no idea which part of the above code that generates the script-timeout, and since I use it for a newsletter function, it is rather difficult for me to test or debug it, so I would be really thankful for anyone coming up with a (near) bulletproof solution to this problem :) Thanks in advance ! • how to show avg of employees salary in a NSTextField using NSArrayController and cocoa bindings

    - by Miraaj
    Hi all, I am new to cocoa bindings so I tried to make a simple application which will simply calculate avg of employees salary and display it in a text field, using cocoa bindings. I followed these steps: Made the model class : Person with one property for now - @property (readwrite, assign) int salary; In the application delegate class I initialized a mutable array : personArray with certain objects like this: Person *person1 = [[Person alloc] init]; person1.salary = 5000; Person *person2 = [[Person alloc] init]; person2.salary = 15000; Person *person3 = [[Person alloc] init]; person3.salary = 7000; Person *person4 = [[Person alloc] init]; person4.salary = 9000; Person *person5 = [[Person alloc] init]; person5.salary = 11000; personArray= [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithObjects:person1, person2, person3, person4, person5,nil]; In IB I dropped a NSArrayController object, set its mode as Class - Person, added key salary in attribute pane. Then in bindings pane, binded contents array to ApplicationDelegate class with model key path set to self.personArray. Dropped a NSTextField on window. Binded its value to ArrayController object. Assigned controller key as - arrangedObjects. Assigned Model key path to @avg.salary When I executed the application I found no value being displayed in the text field. Can anyone suggest me where I may be wrong? Thanks, Miraaj

  • Character encoding issues when generating MD5 hash cross-platform

    - by rogueprocess
    This is a general question about character encoding when using MD5 libraries in various languages. My concern is: suppose I generate an MD5 hash using a native Python string object, like this: message = "hello world" m = md5() m.update(message) Then I take a hex version of that MD5 hash using: m.hexdigest() and send the message & MD5 hash via a network, let's say, a JMS message or a HTTP request. Now I get this message in a Java program in the form of a native Java string, along with the checksum. Then I generate an MD5 hash using Java, like this (using the Commons Codec library): String md5 = org.apache.commons.codec.digest.DigestUtils.DigestUtils.md5Hex(s) My feeling is that this is wrong because I have not specified character encodng at either end. So the original hash will be based on the bytes of the Python version of the string; the Java one will be based on the bytes of the Java version of the string , these two byte sequences will often not be the same - is that right? So really I need to specify "UTF-8" or whatever at both ends right? (I am actually getting an intermittent error in my code where the MD5 checksum fails, and I suspect this is the reason - but because it's intermittent, it's difficult to say if changing this fixes it or not. ) Thank you!

  • PHP Codeigniter Undefined Offset Error

    - by Matt
    Hello, I am building a Codeigniter shopping cart. On the cart details page I have a form input field allowing the user to type in the quantity required of a product, and a submit button to post the information to the update function. When there is just one item in the cart, when updating the quantity everything works as it should. However, when there is more than one item, changing the quantity of an item and clicking submit results in a ‘Undefined Offset 1: error on the following code in the Model (specifically the two lines within the array) : function validate_update_cart() { $total = $this->cart->total_items(); $item = $this->input->post('rowid'); $qty = $this->input->post('qty'); for($i=0;$i < $total;$i++) { $data = array( 'rowid' => $item[$i], 'qty' => $qty[$i] ); $this->cart->update($data); } } This is the View code to which the above refers: <form action="<?php echo base_url(); ?>home/update" method="post"> <div><input type="hidden" name="rowid[]" value="<?php echo $item['rowid']; ?>"/></div> <div><input type="text" name="qty[]" value="<?php echo $item['qty']; ?>" maxlength="2" class="chg-qty"/></div> <div><input type="submit" value="update" class="update-quantity"/></div> </form> And this is the Controller: function update() { $this->products_model->validate_update_cart(); redirect('cart'); } Please can anyone explain why this is happening? • Worse is better. Is there an example?

    - by J.F. Sebastian
    Is there a widely-used algorithm that has time complexity worse than that of another known algorithm but it is a better choice in all practical situations (worse complexity but better otherwise)? An acceptable answer might be in a form: There are algorithms A and B that have O(N**2) and O(N) time complexity correspondingly, but B has such a big constant that it has no advantages over A for inputs less then a number of atoms in the Universe. Examples highlights from the answers: Simplex algorithm -- worst-case is exponential time -- vs. known polynomial-time algorithms for convex optimization problems. A naive median of medians algorithm -- worst-case O(N**2) vs. known O(N) algorithm. Backtracking regex engines -- worst-case exponential vs. O(N) Thompson NFA -based engines. All these examples exploit worst-case vs. average scenarios. Are there examples that do not rely on the difference between the worst case vs. average case scenario? Related: The Rise of ``Worse is Better''. (For the purpose of this question the "Worse is Better" phrase is used in a narrower (namely -- algorithmic time-complexity) sense than in the article) Python's Design Philosophy: The ABC group strived for perfection. For example, they used tree-based data structure algorithms that were proven to be optimal for asymptotically large collections (but were not so great for small collections). This example would be the answer if there were no computers capable of storing these large collections (in other words large is not large enough in this case). Coppersmith–Winograd algorithm for square matrix multiplication is a good example (it is the fastest (2008) but it is inferior to worse algorithms). Any others? From the wikipedia article: "It is not used in practice because it only provides an advantage for matrices so large that they cannot be processed by modern hardware (Robinson 2005)."

    I need parse through a file and do some processing into it. The file is a text file and the data is a variable length data of the form "PP1004181350D001002003..........". So there will be timestamps if there is PP so 1004181350 is 2010-04-08 13:50. The ones where there are D are the data points that are three separate data each three digits long, so D001002003 has three coordonates of 001, 002 and 003. Now I need to parse this data from a file for which I need to store each timestamp into a array and the corresponding datas into arrays that has as many rows as the number of data and three rows for each co-ordinate. The end array might be like TimeStamp[1] = "135000", low[1] = "001", medium[1] = "002", high[1] = "003" TimeStamp[2] = "135015", low[2] = "010", medium[2] = "012", high[2] = "013" TimeStamp[3] = "135030", low[3] = "051", medium[3] = "052", high[3] = "043" .... The question is how do I go about doing this in C? How do I go through this string looking for these patterns? Note: Here the seconds value in timestamp is added on our own as it is known at each data comes after 15 seconds.

  • CF9 HQL Statement for many-to-many and Multiple Criteria

    - by Jeremy Battle
    I have the following setup: Listing.cfc component persistent="true" { property name="ListingId" column="ListingId" type="numeric" ormtype="int" fieldtype="id" generator="identity"; ... property name="Features" type="array" hint="Array of features" singularname="Feature" fieldtype="many-to-many" cfc="Feature" linktable="Listing_Feature" FKColumn="ListingId" inversejoincolumn="FeatureId"; } Feature.cfc component persistent="true" table="Feature" schema="dbo" output="false" { property name="FeatureId" column="FeatureId" type="numeric" ormtype="int" fieldtype="id" generator="identity"; property name="FeatureDescription" column="FeatureDescription" type="string" ormtype="string"; ... /*property name="Listings" fieldtype="many-to-many" cfc="Listing" linktable="Listing_Feature" fkcolumn="FeatureId" inversejoincolumn="ListingId" lazy="true" cascade="all" orderby="GroupOrder";*/ } I can select all listings that have a particular feature using: <cfset matchingListings = ormExecuteQuery("from Listing l left join l.Features as feature where feature.FeatureId = :feature",{feature = 110}) /> Which is fine, however, I'd like to be able to select all listings that have multiple features (for example a listing that has both "Dishwasher" AND "Garage") After a couple hours of googling and looking through hibernate documentation haven't been able to find a solution that won't give me an error. My guess is that the solution is pretty simple and I am just over-thinking it...anyone have any suggestions?

  • Help with boost::lambda expression

    - by Venkat Shivanandan
    I tried to write a function that calculates a hamming distance between two codewords using the boost lambda library. I have the following code: #include <iostream> #include <numeric> #include <boost/function.hpp> #include <boost/lambda/lambda.hpp> #include <boost/lambda/if.hpp> #include <boost/bind.hpp> #include <boost/array.hpp> template<typename Container> int hammingDistance(Container & a, Container & b) { return std::inner_product( a.begin(), a.end(), b.begin(), (_1 + _2), boost::lambda::if_then_else_return(_1 != _2, 1, 0) ); } int main() { boost::array<int, 3> a = {1, 0, 1}, b = {0, 1, 1}; std::cout << hammingDistance(a, b) << std::endl; } And the error I am getting is: HammingDistance.cpp: In function ‘int hammingDistance(Container&, Container&)’: HammingDistance.cpp:15: error: no match for ‘operator+’ in ‘<unnamed>::_1 + <unnamed>::_2’ HammingDistance.cpp:17: error: no match for ‘operator!=’ in ‘<unnamed>::_1 != <unnamed>::_2’ /usr/include/c++/4.3/boost/function/function_base.hpp:757: note: candidates are: bool boost::operator!=(boost::detail::function::useless_clear_type*, const boost::function_base&) /usr/include/c++/4.3/boost/function/function_base.hpp:745: note: bool boost::operator!=(const boost::function_base&, boost::detail::function::useless_clear_type*) This is the first time I am playing with boost lambda. Please tell me where I am going wrong. Thanks.

  • Compression algorithm for IEEE-754 data

    - by David Taylor
    Anyone have a recommendation on a good compression algorithm that works well with double precision floating point values? We have found that the binary representation of floating point values results in very poor compression rates with common compression programs (e.g. Zip, RAR, 7-Zip etc). The data we need to compress is a one dimensional array of 8-byte values sorted in monotonically increasing order. The values represent temperatures in Kelvin with a span typically under of 100 degrees. The number of values ranges from a few hundred to at most 64K. Clarifications All values in the array are distinct, though repetition does exist at the byte level due to the way floating point values are represented. A lossless algorithm is desired since this is scientific data. Conversion to a fixed point representation with sufficient precision (~5 decimals) might be acceptable provided there is a significant improvement in storage efficiency. Update Found an interesting article on this subject. Not sure how applicable the approach is to my requirements. http://users.ices.utexas.edu/~burtscher/papers/dcc06.pdf

    Here's my RegisterController: public function saveforminformationAction(){ $request = $this->getRequest(); if($request->isPost()){ //I NEED HELP WITH THE getFormValues() METHOD. $formResults = $this->getFormValues(); $db = $this->_getParam('db'); $data = array( 'user' => $formResults['username'], 'email' => $formResults['email'], 'password' => $formResults['password'], 'passwordc' => $formResults['passwordc'], 'name' => $formResults['name'], 'avatar' => $formResults['avatar'], ); $db->insert('Usuario',$data); } } And here's my registration view: <body> <h1>Thanks for signing up!</h1> <?php $this->form->setAction($this->url(array('controller' => 'registration','action'=>'saveforminformation'))); $this->form->setMethod('post'); echo $this->form; ?> <img alt="signupimg" src="/img/signup.png"> </body> I'm fairly new to Zend, but I'm eager to learn. How can I get the values sent in the form?
