Else i am getting the error as follows:- The RATING argument passed to the putNUsr function is not of type numeric.     I'm trying to think up a good hash function for strings. And I was thinking it might be a good idea to sum up the unicode values for the first five characters in the string (assuming it has five, otherwise stop where it ends). Would that be a good idea, or is it a bad one? I am doing this in Java, but I wouldn't imagine that would make much of a difference.

Example: String sql = " SELECT * FROM Products WHERE ID = @MYID AND Name LIKE '%@MYNAME%' "; SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand(sql, cn); If I removed the LIKE it works. Hence I am thinking its to do with the '' quotes? Thanks

    In writing functions my brain always spends a few milliseconds to check which order of parameters would be best for a given function. should I write: public Comment AddComment(long userID, string title, string text) Or probably: public Comment AddComment(string title, string text, long userID) Why not: public Comment AddComment(string title, long userID, string text) Do you follow any rules when ordering the parameters for your functions? Which parameter would you place first and which would follow?

    I'm trying to load some data to an Oracle database using SQL Loader. Is it possible to invoke it with specifying the server to load the data into using a DSN instead of a TNS? Right now my command line looks like this: sqlldr uesr/password@tns_id..., I'd like to replace tns_id with a DSN that points to tns_id. Can SQL Loader figure out the TNS from the DSN by itself?

What is really going on? I'm pretty sure it has something to do with how values are laid out regularly in memory, similar to an array; but aside from that, I don't know much else. How is SQL parsed in a manner to facilitate all of this?

  • Getting OpenID to work on an existing MyBB Install

    I am the administrator for a forum,The Vortex. It operates on the latest version of MyBB ver1.6.3. I would like to know how I can get OpenID to become the login for the forums, and also add the users to the MyBB Sql file and overwrite any users that are already registered. This must work on an existing install as I will not be dumping my SQL database to do a fresh install just to get OpenId to work. Any Thought?
