  • mysql update unique index

    - by atno
    Is there a way to say UPDATE items SET qty=10 WHERE **unique key** instead of saying UPDATE items SET qty=10 WHERE userID=1 AND listID=10 and itemID=100 on the following table? CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `items` ( `userID` int(20) NOT NULL, `listID` int(20) NOT NULL, `itemID` int(20) NOT NULL, `qty` int(10) NOT NULL, UNIQUE KEY `unique` (`userID`,`listID`,`itemID`) ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 COLLATE=utf8_unicode_ci;

  • Setting last N bits in an array

    - by Martin
I'm sure this is fairly simple, however I have a major mental block on it, so I need a little help here! I have an array of 5 integers, the array is already filled with some data. I want to set the last N bits of the array to be random noise. [int][int][int][int][int] set last 40 bits [unchanged][unchanged][unchanged][24 bits of old data followed 8 bits of randomness][all random] This is largely language agnostic, but I'm working in C# so bonus points for answers in C#

  • Java, let CookieHandler work on only one instance.

    - by user435657
Hi all, I don't know how CookieHandler works system wide, I did view the source of CookieHandler but found no more information except the get/set methods. Where do TCP/HTTP connections use instance of CookieHandler, which I set by CookieHandler.setDefault(...) Which source file I should refer to? URLConnection & HttpURLConnection don't seem have things to do with it. Help, thanks in advance.

  • debug=true in web.config = BAD thing?

    - by MateloT
We're seeing lots of virtual memory fragmentation and out of memory errors and then it hits the 3GB limit. The compilation debug is set to true in the web.config but I get different answers from everyone i ask, does debug set to true cause each aspx to compile into random areas of ram thus fragmenting that ram and eventually causing out of memory problems?

  • Assembly Versioning in .NET

    - by pm_2
In the Visual Studio 2008 IDE, the properties page allows you to access the version. However, for executables, there appears to be two versions: Under the Publish tab, there is a publish version with a flag to auto increment. Under the Applications Tab (Assembly Info...) there is an assembly and file version - this appears to change the AssemblyInfo.cs file. My question is, what is the difference between the two versions and what are the implications of setting each?

  • Mercurial & Windows Server 2003

    - by tjsimmons
Hi all, I just set up Mercurial on our main webserver, hosting repositories via hgwebdir.cgi. The problem I'm having now is when I run hg push from my local machine to the server's repository, it takes an absolutely ridiculous amount of time to push a very small directory, with only a single changeset. Is it possible that I've set something up wrong? I keep getting HTTP Error 502: Bad Gateway. Thanks!

  • x=["key" => "value"]. How does it work in Ruby?

    - by Earlz
Ok, so I was comparing some stuff in my own DSL to Ruby. One construct they both support is this x=["key" => "value"] Knowing the difference between arrays and hashes, I would think this to be illegal, but the result in Ruby is [{"key" => "value"}] Why is this? And with this kinda syntax why can't you do x=("key" => "value") Why is an array a special case for implicitly created hashes?

  • What about buffering FileInputStream?

    - by Pregzt
I have a piece of code that reads hell of a lot (hundreds of thousand) of relatively small files (couple of KB) from the local file system in a loop. For each file there is a java.io.FileInputStream created to read the content. The process its very slow and take ages. Do you think that wrapping the FIS into java.io.BufferedInputStream would make a significant difference?

  • Update Statement Updates 0 Rows via the C# Winform Application?

    - by peace
First of all, please help me out! I can not take this anymore. I could not find where the error is located. Here is my problem: I'm trying to update a row via c# winform application. The update query generated from the application is formatted correctly. I tested it in the sql server environment, it worked well. When i run it from the application i get 0 rows updated. Here is the snippet that generates the update statement using reflection - don't try to figure it out. Carry on reading after the code portion: public void Update(int cusID) { SqlCommand objSqlCommand = new SqlCommand(); Customer cust = new Customer(); string SQL = null; try { if ((cusID != 0)) { foreach (PropertyInfo PropertyItem in this.GetType().GetProperties()) { if (!(PropertyItem.Name.ToString() == cust.PKName)) { if (PropertyItem.Name.ToString() != "TableName") { if (SQL == null) { SQL = PropertyItem.Name.ToString() + " = @" + PropertyItem.Name.ToString(); } else { SQL = SQL + ", " + PropertyItem.Name.ToString() + " = @" + PropertyItem.Name.ToString(); } } else { break; } } } objSqlCommand.CommandText = "UPDATE " + this.TableName + " SET " + SQL + " WHERE " + cust.PKName + " = @cusID AND PhoneNumber = " + "'" + "@phNum" + "'"; foreach (PropertyInfo PropertyItem in this.GetType().GetProperties()) { if (!(PropertyItem.Name.ToString() == cust.PKName)) { if (PropertyItem.Name.ToString() != "TableName") { objSqlCommand.Parameters.AddWithValue("@" + PropertyItem.Name.ToString(), PropertyItem.GetValue(this, null)); } else { break; } } } objSqlCommand.Parameters.AddWithValue("@cusID", cusID); objSqlCommand.Parameters.AddWithValue("@phNum", this.PhoneNumber); DAL.ExecuteSQL(objSqlCommand); } else { //AppEventLog.AddWarning("Primary Key is not provided for Update.") } } catch (Exception ex) { //AppEventLog.AddError(ex.Message.ToString) } } This part below: objSqlCommand.CommandText = "UPDATE " + this.TableName + " SET " + SQL + " WHERE " + cust.PKName + " = @cusID AND PhoneNumber = " + "'" + "@phNum" + "'"; generates dml: UPDATE CustomerPhone SET PhoneTypeID = @PhoneTypeID, PhoneNumber = @PhoneNumber WHERE CustomerID = @cusID AND PhoneNumber = '@phNum' @PhoneTypeID and @PhoneNumber are gotten from two properties. We assigned the value to these properties in the presentation layer from the user input text box. The portion below where fetches the values: objSqlCommand.Parameters.AddWithValue("@" + PropertyItem.Name.ToString(), PropertyItem.GetValue(this, null)); The code below fills the values of WHERE: objSqlCommand.Parameters.AddWithValue("@cusID", cusID); objSqlCommand.Parameters.AddWithValue("@phNum", this.PhoneNumber); The final code should look as: UPDATE CustomerPhone SET PhoneTypeID = 7, PhoneNumber = 999444 WHERE CustomerID = 500 AND PhoneNumber = '911'; Phone type id is 7 - user value that is taken from text box Phone number is 999444 - user value that is taken from text box The above final update statement works on the sql environment, but when running via the application, the execute non query runs ok and gets 0 rows updated! I wonder why?

  • How important is it to unset variables in PHP?

    - by dd0x
I am somewhat new to PHP and I am wondering: How important is it to unset variables in PHP? I know in languages like C we free the allocated memory to prevent leaks, etc. By using unset on variables when I am done with them, will this significantly increase performance of my applications? Also is there a benchmark anywhere that compares difference between using unset and not using unset?

  • rvalues and temporary objects in the FCD

    - by FredOverflow
It took me quite some time to understand the difference between an rvalue and a temporary object. But now the final committee draft states on page 75: An rvalue [...] is an xvalue, a temporary object or subobject thereof, or a value that is not associated with an object. I can't believe my eyes. This must be an error, right?

  • printer assignments for windows xp workstations within an active directory environment

    - by another_netadmin
I'm using the following script to handle removing any old networked printers from machines and then assigning the propper ones and making one of them the default. This script is assigned to the OU the workstations reside in and uses group policy loopback so all users that login will get the appropriate printers mapped for them. I tried to use the new Printer Manager as part of W2K3 R2 but when assigning the default this way I get an error that the printer doesn't exist so I'm back to using the script. One flaw that I'm noticing is that it won't remove any printers that happen to be mapped from an RDP session (we don't see this everywhere but there are a few locations). Is there any way to enumerate all RDP printers and remove them similar to how I'm enumerating and removing networked printers? ' ' Printers.vbs - Windows Logon Script. ' RemovePrinters AddPrinters Sub RemovePrinters() On Error Resume Next Dim strPrinter Set objNetwork = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Network") Set colPrinters = objNetwork.EnumPrinterConnections For i = 0 to colPrinters.Count -1 Step 2 strPrinter=CStr(colPrinters.Item(i+1)) If Not InStr(strPrinter,"\\") = 0 Then objNetwork.RemovePrinterConnection strPrinter, True, True End If Next End Sub Sub AddPrinters() On Error GoTo 0 Set objNetwork = CreateObject("WScript.Network") objNetwork.AddWindowsPrinterConnection "\\printers1\JH120-DELL5310" objNetwork.SetDefaultPrinter "\\printers1\Jh120-DELL5310" End Sub
