  • Android - I can't make a widget clickable to launch an intent

    Hi all. I am new to Android development. I have developed a very simple widget that was meant to interact with the user via an ImageButton. What I am trying to do now is as follows. When a user taps the button (after adding the widget to their home screen), I want the phone to dial a certain telephone number. A sort of speed dial for your home screen. Unfortunately when I tap the button nothing happens.     I installed mercurial 1.5.1 on win xp but the files listed in hg help config, were not created. Namely: %USERPROFILE%.hgrc (is that a valid windows file name?) %USERPROFILE%\Mercurial.ini \Mercurial\Mercurial.ini C:\Mercurial\Mercurial.ini (no such directory altogether) %HOME%.hgrc (what is this directory) %HOME%\Mercurial.ini HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mercurial (no registry created) .hg\hgrc (i had to create this file manually to solve my problem)

  • What is the impact of upgrading MSBuild to VS2010 for projects targeting .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.5?

    I’m working on the build process for a VS 2010 solution and some projects within it target the .NET framework 4.0. As far as I know, to have this type of solution built by TFS 2008 we will have to change the version of the MSBuild.exe file used by the build agent – modifying the TFSBuildService.exe.config file, pointing MSBuildPath entry accordingly. Do you know if this will have any impact to existing project builds that target the 2.0 and 3.5 framework? Are you aware of any known issues with this type of set up?

  • Cassandra hot keyspace structure change

    Hello. I'm currently running a 12-node Cassandra cluster storing 4TB of data, with a replication factor set to 3. For the needs of an application update, we need to change the configuration of our keyspace, and we'd like to avoid any downtime if possible. I read on a mailing list that the best way to do it is to: Kill cassandra process on one server of the cluster Start it again, wait for the commit log to be written on the disk, and kill it again Make the modifications in the storage.xml file Rename or delete the files in the data directories according to the changes we made Start cassandra Goto 1 with next server on the list My questions would be: Did I understand the process well? Is there any risk of data corruption? During the process, there will be servers with different versions of the storage.xml file in the same cluser, same keyspace. Is it a problem? Same question as above if we not only add, rename and remove ColumnFamilies, but if we change the CompareWith parameter / transform an existing column family into a super one. Or do we need to change the name? Thank you for your answers. It's the first time I'll do this, and I'm a little bit scared.

  • How to perform undirected graph processing from SQL data

    I ran into the following problem in dynamically creating topics for our ActiveMQ system: I have a number of processes (M_1, ..., M_n), where n is not large, typically 5-10. Some of the processes will listen to the output of others, through a message queue; these edges are specified in an XML file, e.g. <link from="M1" to="M3"</link> <link from="M2" to="M4"</link> <link from="M3" to="M4"</link> etc. The edges are sparse, so there won't be many of them. I will parse this XML and store this information in an SQL DB, one table for nodes and another for edges. Now, I need to dynamically create strings of the form M1.exe --output_topic=T1 M2.exe --output_topic=T2 M3.exe --input_topic=T1 --output_topic=T3 M4.exe --input_topic=T2 --input_topic=T3 where the tags are sequentially generated. What is the best way to go about querying SQL to obtain these relationships? Are there any tools or other tutorials you can point me to? I've never done graps with SQL. Using SQL is imperative, because we use it for other stuff, too. Thanks!

  • Android custom view - setting it to take up max space available but no more

    I have a custom View class in my app that I'm using in xml layouts. Wherever I'm using this view in my xml, I don't want it to stretch it's container, but I want it to fill out whatever space is available. Here's an example to make it a little clearer. I have a LinearLayout set to horizontal orientation with my custom view followed by a TextView. The TextView is going to stretch the LinearLayout so that it takes up the space it needs and no more. I want my custom view to take up the vertical space that the TextView has made available. Let's say the TextView ends up being 50px tall because of it's contents. The LinearLayout is thus stretched to about this height (not taking into account any margins or padding), so I just want the view to know it can stretch to that height and not "push on" its container. Without overriding and of the measurement methods of the base class (onMeasure, etc) my View is actually stretching to take up as much space as possible. I have already played around with wrap_content and fill_parent a bunch, so I'm assuming I need to do something in one of the View class' measure methods.

    Working in a medium size project during last 4 months - we are using JPA and Spring - I'm quite sure that JPA is not powerfull for projects that requires more than CRUD screen... Query interface is poor, Hibernate doesn't respect JPA spec all the time and lot of times I need to use hibernate classes, annotations and config. What do you guys think about JPA? Is it not good enough?

    It's very strange that the session will never expire if i use memcached store even i set config.action_controller.session :session_expires = 1.seconds.from_now And I use extended_fragment_cache to cache fragment, I meet the same problem <% Cache "my_page", {:expires = 1.minutes} do ... % never expired! Anyone know where's the problem?

  • How to generate an ear file from a maven-archetype-webapp artifact?

    I currently have a project built with maven-archetype-webapp artifact. The default packaging for this project is war. Is it possible for me to insert the maven-ear-plugin in this webapp pom.xml generate an ear file that contains this project war? I tried that, but the war file doesn't get embedded in the generated ear file. It has everything except the war file. I read many Maven related articles, and perhaps I could use maven-archetype-j2ee-simple artifact. However, I'm reluctant to this use for 2 reasons:- This artifact handles ejbs and all the extra features that I don't use. It makes my project looks bloated. Second, it seems like it requires me to install the web module into the repository first before I can create the ear file. Is this the preferred way to create an ear file? How do I create an ear file that contains the war file using maven-ear-plugin from my webapp's pom.xml? If this way is not possible, what's the preferred way? I'm sorry if my questions sound a little novice, I realized I have whole lot more to learn about Maven. Thanks much.

  • How do I stop redirection after form submittion?

    I had a similar question posted here a few hours ago, just now I got the answer that I should look into using AJAX to do this. Since I want to complete this part of the site today I can't afford to learn AJAX from the basics to do this now.. This shouldn't be something difficult and I thougt that I would be able to do this but I'm not skilled enough... I have a form, when you click submit, it posts to twitter.com/statuses/update.xml and I need to be able to do so without being redirected there. Is there an easy way to do this or do I need to learn AJAX?   • Eclipse won't believe I have Maven 2.2.1

    I have a project (built from an AppFuse template) that requires Maven 2.2.1. So I upgraded to this (from 2.1.0) and set my path and my M2_HOME and MAVEN_HOME env variables. Then I ran mvn eclipse:eclipse and imported the project into Eclipse (Galileo). However, in the problems list for the project (and at the top of the pom.xml GUI editor) it says: Unable to build project '/export/people/clegg/data/GanymedeWorkspace/funcserve/pom.xml; it requires Maven version 2.2.1 (Please ignore 'GanymedeWorkspace', I really am using Galileo!) This persists whether I set Eclipse to use its Embedded Maven implementation, or the external 2.2.1 installation, in the Preferences - Maven - Installations dialog. I've tried closing and reopening the project, reindexing the repository, cleaning the project, restarting the IDE, logging out and back in again, everything I can think of! But Eclipse still won't believe I have Maven 2.2.1. I just did a plugin update so I have the latest version of Maven Integration for Eclipse -- 0.9.8.200905041414. Does anyone know how to convince Eclipse I really do have the right version of Maven? It's like it's recorded the previous version somewhere else and won't pay any attention to my changes :-( Many thanks! Andrew.

    Hello, Im now developping one application in C# with Remoting objects and NHibernate. So here is a image explaining how my projects are divided. Views Layer This layer will be responsible for the users interface. This layer will always use the Controls Layer to create and edit objects; Control Layer This is my persistence layer, here Ill have all the NHibernate configuration. This is my critic point, because ListSingleton Project will have only my RemoteObject. (Here I have the App.config file) Models Layer Entity layer. Here I only have the entities classes and their respective mapping. I’ve done a test solution with no remoting and only with the projects of the Control and Model Layers. It was all working ok. Now that I added the Views Layer and set the solution to start with projects Client and Server (Client calls the Control Layer and this would do a try to persist a object) I’m getting a error at : Configuration cfg = new Configuration(); cfg.AddXmlFile("mapping/User.hbm.xml"); InnerException: {"Could not compile the mapping document: mapping/User.hbm.xml"} InnerException.InnerException: {"Could not find the dialect in the configuration"} StackTrace in the InnerException.InnerException " em NHibernate.Dialect.Dialect.GetDialect(IDictionary`2 props)\r\n em NHibernate.Cfg.Configuration.AddValidatedDocument(NamedXmlDocument doc)" But I know that there is no error in the mapping file because I used in my test application.

  • MongoDB initialization error in Rails

    I have an initialization script to set up my MongoDB connection in the config/initialization directory. It is my understanding that these initializers run after all of the plugins are initialized. The problem I am having is that when a particular plugin I am using is initialized, it tries to access the mongodb before I have set it up. I get this error: uninitialized class variable @@database_name in MongoMapper My question is: Where can I initialize Mongodb that will run after the mongodb gem has been loaded and before any of the plugins are initialized?

    Hi- I have a website created in VS 2008 using asp.net v3.5. My requirement is to add both Routing and Infragistics controls the website. But noticed, I can have only one of these working - not both. My infragistics control works if I remove the following from web.config But by removing it- routing would not work. If this is possible, When I refer few dll's of 4.0 and setting application pool to 2.0 why Cant I run the website(I am getting errors).When we refer the dll's from web.config it means it searches for GAC when that particular 4.0 dll is available in GAC Why dont it load (How come it is not loading)..   • Every subsequent call to an Axis webservice fails

    I've been having a strange issue with an Axis webservice which is called through the https protocol. Basically, when an invocation is made, the call goes through just fine. When I first created the site with the ASP.NET MVC 1.0 site template in Visual Studio, the web.config page was configured to automatically connect to SQL Server Express as a User Instance. Can I completely remove this dependency? If so, how do I get rid of all this database stuff?

Currently my code below is calling in the entire contents for pubDate: <pubDate>Thu, 12 Sep 2013 07:23:59 +0000</pubDate> How do I just display the day and month from the above example i.e. 12 Sep? EDIT I should clarify, the above line of code is an example output I currently get but as I'm calling the latest 3 posts from an RSS feed, this date and time will vary. I therefore need the code to be more dynamic (if that's the right term!)
