• Multi "column" DataGridView C#

  I have a DataGridView that's bound to a DataSet. It has columns DateCreated, Weight, DateUsed. Those three columns do not take up much horizontal space on DataGridView that is nearly full screen. Is it possible to have those columns wrap back to the top if the view is wide enough to support a second group of those colums. So across the header it would read DateCreated, Weight, DateUsed, DateCreated, Weight, DateUsed. Then when a row is clicked, only 3 cells would be highlighted, not all six. Is there something that can provide this functionality?

• Calculating the angle between two points

  I'm currently developing a simple 2D game for Android. I have a stationary object that's situated in the center of the screen and I'm trying to get that object to rotate and point to the area on the screen that the user touches. I have the constant coordinates that represent the center of the screen and I can get the coordinates of the point that the user taps on. I'm using the formula outlined in this forum: How to get angle between two points? -It says as follows "If you want the the angle between the line defined by these two points and the horizontal axis: double angle = atan2(y2 - y1, x2 - x1) * 180 / PI;". -I implemented this, but I think the fact the I'm working in screen coordinates is causing a miscalculation, since the Y-coordinate is reversed. I'm not sure if this is the right way to go about it, any other thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

  Hi, I have a linear layout which has a background image (a 9 patched png file). How can I add padding to left and right so that the background image does not take up the whole width? I have tried 'android:paddingLeft' and 'android:paddingRight', but that does not change anything. <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:paddingLeft="25dip" android:paddingRight="25dip" android:background="@drawable/background"> The whole background still stretches the whole screen width.   stack overflow wont let me post images so heres the link: http://4m0.org/images/qt.png This is my application. For this question, ignore the top part with the buttons. I have a QScrollArea Filled with many QGroupBoxes Filled with a horizontal box layout of QLabel (on the left) and QGroupBox (on the right) The right side is a vertical box layout of QPushButtons Every single element, the scrollarea, both boxes, the labels, and the buttons all have their style sheets modified so padding is 0px and margin is 0px. Why do i have all this extra space? The scroll area has space on all sides until its inner elements (the blue boxes) start. Then those boxes have space until its inner elements (the white boxes) start. Can someone tell me what is going on?

• R graphics plotting a linegraph with date/time horizontally along x-axis

  I want to get a linegraph in R which has Time along x and temperature along y. Originally I had the data in dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm format, with a time point every 30 minutes. https://www.dropbox.com/s/q35y1rfila0va1h/Data_logger_S65a_Ania.csv Since I couldn't find a way of reading this into R, I formatted the data to make it into dd/mm/yyyy and added a column 'time' with 1-48 for all the time points for each day https://www.dropbox.com/s/65ogxzyvuzteqxv/temp.csv This is what I have so far: temp<-read.csv("temp.csv",as.is=T) temp$date<-as.Date(temp$date, format="%d/%m/%Y") #inputting date in correct format plot(temperature ~ date, temp, type="n") #drawing a blank plot with axes, but without data lines(temp$date, temp$temperature,type="o") #type o is a line overlaid on top of points. This stacks the points up vertically, which is not what I want, and stacks all the time points (1-48) for each day all together on the same date. Any advice would be much appreciated on how to get this horizontal, and ordered by time as well as date.

• C# Console Application - Odd behaviour - char '\a'

  After extensive debugging of an application, I noticed the console window would hang when searching text for the char '\a'. The goal is to strip out characters from a file. The console window would always hang upon exiting the program, and it would make it to the last statement of main. I removed the '\a' from the switch statement and the console application does not hang anymore. Any idea why? • Normalized Device Coordinates to window coordinates

  I just read some stuff about the theory behind 3d graphics. As I understand it, normalized device coordinates (NDC) are coordinates that describe a point in the interval from -1 to 1 on both the horizontal and vertical axis. On the other hand window coordinates describe a point somewhere between (0,0) and (width,height) of the window. So my formula to convert a point from the NDC coordinate system to the window system would be xwin = width + xndc * 0.5 * width ywin = height + ynfv * 0.5 * height The problem now is that in the OpenGL documentation for glViewport there is an other formula: xwin = ( xndc + 1 ) * width * 0.5 + x ywin = ( yndc + 1 ) * height * 0.5 + y Now I'm wondering what I am getting wrong. Especially I'm wondering what the additional "x" and "y" mean. Hope the question isn't too "not programming related", but I thought somehow it is related to graphics programming.

• ExtJS panel does not render properly unless I open Firebug - WTF?

  I have the following ExtJS Panel embedded in another Panel, which then resides in a TabPanel and the TabPanel is in a FormPanel. With that being said, these start/end date fields are initially displayed in very small cells -- the cells are so small that I see horizontal scroll bars. Now here's the weird part: if I open Firebug, everything pops into place. Does anyone know what's going on? • Error message: "$(window).width is not a function"

  Hi all, i am trying to use a jQuery scrollbar called "Jscrollhorizontalpane". when i am trying to use it i get the following error message: "$(window).width is not a function" in firebug's console. i am new to jQuery do this might be very basic but still, i dont know what that means and why there is a problem. the scroller comes in a bundle with a few files, one of which is called "jScrollHorizontalPane.js" and i believe it holds the code for the scroller. i tried replacing $ signs there with the word "jQuery" (in case there is a conflict) but it didnt seem to help. also important to add that on the same page i am using another jQuery scroller (a vertical one as opposed to the horizontal on mentioned above) which works just fine and when i examined it's .js file, i could spot lines with "$(window).width". any ideas?

• Looking for a better alternative to linklabels

  Please see the two long linklabels below (please ignore the black lines above) Linklabels' length is made dynamically during runtime, and as seen, could be that it's too long and overlapping other text we have (there is another text where you see 'Differences'). My questions are: a) Can I limit the maximum length of a linklabel? b) Is that possible to use a scrollbar with a linklabel (or any similar control) in case that it's too long? e.g. setting it to 200 pixels, and in case it's longer, the user has to scroll the horizontal scroller and see end of the text. • Remove margin between rows of overflowing inline elements

  I'm creating a tile-based game and am using block rendering to update a large list of tiles. I'm attempting to do this in the most simple manner, so I've been trying to work with HTML's default layouts. Right now I'm creating 'inline-blocks', omitting whitespace between the elements to avoid horizontal spaces in between them but when the blocks overflow and create a new line there is some vertical margining in which I do not know how to remove. Example to make this a bit clearer: http://jsfiddle.net/mLa93/13/ (Pretty much I just need to remove the spacing between the block rows while retaining the simple markup.)

• Animate/Ease an element to position when other elements disappear

  Please take a look at this fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/dhcyA/ Try clicking on a block. What I want is that when the other elements disapear, the selected block will animate/ease to his giving position instead of just jumping like it does now. Then the same animation repeats itself when clicking again on the box, but then back to place. Maybe to keep in mind: I'm using a reponsive design, which means those blocks can be vertical and horizontal after scaling the window. Any redevisions on the fiddle or suggustions would be great!

  I have two panels: main_panel child_panel The main_panel layout is set using: main_panel.setLayout(flowlayout) I then added child_panel to main_panel: main_panel.add(child_panel) The child_panel gets added to main_panel but its position is at the cross-section of horizontal midpoint and top vertical section of screen. I want child_panel to be at the top left corner, something I could have done by using child_panel.setlocation(a,b) method, if I have set the layout of main_panel as null. I have used FlowLayout here because I want components in the JPanel to keep adjusting with the size of JFrame. So can I add child_panel to main_panel at the exact location I want, even if I set the Layout of main_panel as not null?

• GWT: how to have different styles for splitters in different SplitLayoutPanels?

  I know you can change the styles of the splitters with the defaults styles listed in the docs: .gwt-SplitLayoutPanel .gwt-SplitLayoutPanel-HDragger { horizontal dragger } .gwt-SplitLayoutPanel .gwt-SplitLayoutPanel-VDragger { vertical dragger } and we've done that in earlier development. However, now I'm developing new stuff and would like to use a different style for the splitters in a new SplitLayoutPanel. Unfortunately, we haven't or can't split the app into different modules, which might make this easier. I tried creating a new style and applying it to my new SplitLayoutPanel, but it didn't appear to have any effect on the splitters. I thought there might be a method to get a handle on the splitters in order to apply the new style to only them, but I didn't find any such method.

I'm trying to finalize this horizontal scrolling I have and the last bit is to not just disable scrolling when the end is reached, but to also disable (well, change color) the scroll buttons at that point as well.   Hi, just a general design question that I'd like to hear some of your opinions on. I am designing a system for a client, and I'm using GridView' a lot. They need a lot of columns to be displayed in some of these, and I've had to resort to using a panel with a horizontal scrollbar. This presents some issues - keeping track of which row is which is difficult, even with alternating row colours, and it's generally pretty ugly. How have you dealt with these issues before? Are there any sort of AJAX controls that could help, so some data could be only displayed on hover or such? Or any other general ideas.

  Hey there, I've got a Filemaker calculation that generates an HTML page with several tables. If the calculation results in values for certain fields the result would be <table> <tr><td>Example value 1</td></tr> <tr><td>Example value 2</td></tr> ... </table> If the calculation finds no values to be displayed, the result would simply be <table> </table> In the first case, I want to the table to display a border at the bottom (or any other horizontal line); in the second case, I don't want to display a border at the bottom. I cannot find a way to get this done using a CSS... Thanks in adavance :-)
