  • c++, object life-time of anonymous (unnamed) variables

    - by Joe Steeve
In the following code, the object constructed in the last line of 'main()', seems to be destroyed before the end of the expression. The destructor is called before the '<<' is executed. Is this how it is supposed to be? #include <string> #include <sstream> #include <iostream> using std::string; using std::ostringstream; using std::cout; class A : public ostringstream { public: A () {} virtual ~A () { string s; s = str(); cout << "from A: " << s << std::endl; } }; int main () { string s = "Hello"; A os; os << s; cout << os.str() << std::endl; A() << "checking this"; } This is the output: Hello from A: 0x80495f7 from A: Hello This is the gdb log: (gdb) b os.cxx : 18 Breakpoint 1 at 0x80492b1: file os.cxx, line 18. • PHP Regex: How to match anything except a pattern between two tags

    - by Ryan
Hello, I am attempting to match a string which is composed of HTML. Basically it is an image gallery so there is a lot of similarity in the string. There are a lot of <dl> tags in the string, but I am looking to match the last <dl>(.?)+</dl> combo that comes before a </div>. The way I've devised to do this is to make sure that there aren't any <dl's inside the <dl></dl> combo I'm matching. I don't care what else is there, including other tags and line breaks. I decided I had to do it with regular expressions because I can't predict how long this substring will be or anything that's inside it. Here is my current regex that only returns me an array with two NULL indicies: preg_match_all('/<dl((?!<dl).)+<\/dl>(?=<\/div>)/', $foo, $bar) As you can see I use negative lookahead to try and see if there is another <dl> within this one. I've also tried negative lookbehind here with the same results. I've also tried using +? instead of just + to no avail. Keep in mind that there's no pattern <dl><dl></dl> or anything, but that my regex is either matching the first <dl> and the last </dl> or nothing at all. Now I realize . won't match line breaks but I've tried anything I could imagine there and it still either provides me with the NULL indicies or nearly the whole string (from the very first occurance of <dl to </dl></div>, which includes several other occurances of <dl>, exactly what I didn't want). I honestly don't know what I'm doing incorrectly. Thanks for your help! I've spent over an hour just trying to straighten out this one problem and it's about driven me to pulling my hair out.

  • PHP - error when insert date into MySQL

    - by Michael Mao
Hello everyone: I've got a typical problem when trying to insert a date into MySQL. The column defined in MySQL is of type DATE. My PHP version is 5.3.0 Apart from this date-related issue, the rest of my code works just fine. And this is my PHP script to do this: $tablename = BOOKS_TABLE; $insert = mysql_query("INSERT INTO $tablename (barcode, book_name, volume_num,". " author, publisher, item_type, buy_price, buy_date) VALUES ". "(". "'" . $barcode . "', ". "'" . $bookname . "', ". "'" . $volumenum . "', ". "'" . $author . "', ". "'" . $publisher . "', ". "'" . $itemtype . "', ". "'" . $buyprice . "', ". "'" . getMySQLDateString($buydate). //"'STR_TO_DATE('".$buydate ."', '%d/%m/%Y'))'". //nothing changes in MySQL ")"); And this is the faulty function : function getMySQLDateString($buydate) //typical buydate : 04/21/2009 { $mysqlDateString = date('Y-m-d H:i:s', $strtotime($buydate)); return $mysqlDateString; } The first commented out line wouldn't do anything, the script is executed with no error, however, there is nothing changed in datebase after this. The current approach will cause a Fatal error saying function name must be a string in this line. Actually I followed this thread on SO, but just cannot pass the date into MySQL... Can anyone help me figure out which part is not right? How would you do it, in this case, to get it right? Sorry about such a journeyman-like question, thanks a lot in advance.

  • What is the difference between using $1 vs \1 in Perl regex substitutions?

    - by Mr Foo Bar
I'm debugging some code and wondered if there is any practical difference between $1 and \1 in Perl regex substitutions For example: my $package_name = "Some::Package::ButNotThis"; $package_name =~ s{^(\w+::\w+)}{$1}; print $package_name; # Some::Package This following line seems functionally equivalent: $package_name =~ s{^(\w+::w+)}{\1}; Are there subtle differences between these two statements? Do they behave differently in different versions of Perl?

  • MS Access 2007 - Property for text box to allow end-user to hit enter for return, not next

    - by Justin
So I have a form that user's use for data entry, and on one form there is a text box there that is basically used. To enter notes. However, if the user hits i need the cursor to stay in that text box, and start a new line (uh....like word would)....but currently it is jumping to the next control (text box). So is there a simple property setting that would do the trick? Or a VBA method to accomplish? Thanks Justin

  • Explained shell statement

    - by Mats Stijlaart
The following statement will remove line numbers in a txt file: cat withLineNumbers.txt | sed 's/^.......//' >> withoutLineNumbers.txt The input file is created with the following statement (this one i understand): nl -ba input.txt >> withLineNumbers.txt I know the functionality of cat and i know the output is written to the 'withoutLineNumbers.txt' file. But the part of '| sed 's/^.......//'' is not really clear to me. Thanks for your time.

OK, i have been doing some work modding a pre-compiled ASP.NET application (VB codebehind) but i have come across something i have never seen before. When ever theres an error on the loading of a page, the page outputs nothing (no error message, no error message, nothing at all) firefox displays this error: XML Parsing Error: no element found Location: http://site.local/Checkout.aspx Line Number 1, Column 1: Because there is no html output. • for x in y, type iteration in python. Can I find out what iteration I'm currently on?

    - by foo
Hi, I have a question about the loop construct in Python in the form of: for x in y: In my case y is a line read from a file and x is separate characters. I would like to put a space after every pair of characters in the output, like this: aa bb cc dd etc. So, I would like to know the current iteration. Is it possible, or do I need to use a more traditional C style for loop with an index?

  • How do I move a file (or folder) from one folder to another in TortoiseSVN?

    - by codeflunky
I would like to move a file or folder from one place to another within the same repository without having to use Repo Browser to do it, and without creating two independent add/delete operations. Using Repo Browser works fine except that your code will be hanging in a broken state until you get any supporting changes checked in afterwards (like the .csproj file for example). Update: People have suggested "move" from the command line. Is there a TortoiseSVN equivalent?

  • Enabling ProGuard in Eclipse for Android

    - by Ted Hopp
The new documentation on ProGuard for Android says to add a line to the default.properties file in the project home directory. However, on opening this file, I read at the top: # This file is automatically generated by Android Tools. # Do not modify this file -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE ERASED! Am I missing something? Also, is there a way to enable ProGuard only for a production build from Eclipse (i.e., when exporting the finished product)?
