• Installshield Development Error durring the Installation process

  Hey guys, I've been stuck by a problem for the past couple days that makes no sense to me. My installer builds fine in the Installshiled IDE but when it is about to finish the installation, int gets two errors then rollbacks: installation failure. Right when the install bar is at about 100%, an error box pops up that states this: "Error 1001.Exception occurred while initializing the installation: System.IO.FileLoadException: Attempt to load an unverifiable executable with fixups (IAT with more than 2 sections or a TLS section.) (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131019)." The box pops up once, then the installer flashes its status to "rollback" then pops up another error box, then once 'ok'ed it procedes to rollback as usual. I don't understand that error message so i looked in the msi loggings and found this: "InstallShield 13:20:08: Initializing Property Bag... For some reason it looks like to me that installshield is trying to launch my program before it finishes the installation, even when I told it to prompt the user to decide to launch. Is this a registering command system that makes it attemp or what? I've been scouring the web all day and I've found some ideas, but I havent seen any solutions as of yet. The installers that I've tried(and failed) have always needed to be Setup.exes, when i try to build a .msi only setup I get this error message. It may help someone who knows more about this system than I do. Your project contains InstallShield prerequisites. A Setup.exe setup launcher is required if you are build a release that includes InstallShield prerequisites. Change your release settings to build Setup.exe, or remove the prerequisites from your project. -7076 There's nothing on the site that has anything from the error code, so I'm at a loss. • In WPF, how do I get a command in a Control Template to bind to a property in a parent?

  I am relatively new to WPF and sometimes it makes my head explode. However, I do like the power behind it, especially when used with the MVVM model. I have a control template that contains a button. I use that control template inside of a custom control. I want to add a property on the custom control that will bind to the command property of the button inside the control template. Basically, it is a combo box with a button to the right of it to allow a user to pop up a search dialog. Since this control could appear on a usercontrol multiple times, I need to be able to potentially bind each control to a different command (Searh products, search customers, etc). • Validation Summary for Lists using Data Annotations with MVC

  I currently use a custom method to display validation error messages for lists but would like to replace this system for using with Data Annotations. In summary on validation of my form, I want to display "*" next to each input that is incorrect and also provide a Validation Summary at the bottom that relates each error message to the particular item in the list. e.g. say if validation failed on the 2nd list item on a Name input box and the 4th item on an Address input box the validation summary would display [2] Name is invalid [4] Address is invalid Please ignore if there are mistakes in the code below. I'm just writing this as an example. • Marrying Core Animation with OpenGL ES

  Edit: I suppose instead of the long explanation below I might also ask: Sending -setNeedsDisplay to an instance of CAEAGLLayer does not cause the layer to redraw (i.e., -drawInContext: is not called). Instead, I get this console message: <GLLayer: 0x4d500b0>: calling -display has no effect. Is there a way around this issue? Can I invoke -drawInContext: when -setNeedsDisplay is called? Long explanation below: I have an OpenGL scene that I would like to animate using Core Animation animations. Following the standard approach to animate custom properties in a CALayer, I created a subclass of CAEAGLLayer and defined a property sceneCenterPoint in it whose value should be animated. This would mean I would have to implement the animations manually in the OpenGL renderer (which is possible but not as elegant IMO).

• How do you pass user credentials from WebClient to a WCF REST service?

  I am trying to expose a WCT REST service and only users with valid username and password would be able to access it. The username and password are stored in a SQL database. I also tried other clientCredentialType values and none of them worked. I also self-hosted the WCF service to eliminate the issues related to IIS trying to authenticate a user before the service gets a chance. • YUI Calendar: how does it load the Sam's Skin CSS?

  I'm using YUI 2's calendar in YUI 3. How does it load Sam's skin CSS? I didn't manually include it (though it seems like I should so the user can download it in the one request I make to the combo loader for css). Strangely, I don't see it being downloaded nor do I see it in the JS files themselves. I must be overlooking it.   Hello to all! This is my first question here on stack overflow. i need help on a problem i encountered during an ASP.NET MVC2 project i am currently working on. I should note that I'm relatively new to MVC design, so pls bear my ignorance. Here goes : I have a regular form on which various details about a person are shown. One of them is "Date of Birth". Model.Value.ToShortDateString() : string.Empty))%> I used LinqToSql designer to create my model from an sql database. Once i enter an incorrect date in the DateOfBirth field then no custom message is displayed even if use the attribute like [Birthday(ErrorMessage=".....")]. The message displayed is the one returned from the db ie "The value '32/4/1967' is not valid for DateOfBirth.". I tried to enter some break points around the code, and found out that the "value" in attribute is always null when the date is incorrect, but always gets a value if the date is in correct format. The same ( value == null) is passed also in the code generated by the designer. This thing is driving me nuts. Please can anyone help me deal with this? Also if someone can tell me where exactly is the point of entry from the view to the database. Is it related to the model binder? because i wanted to check exactly what value is passed once i press the "submit" button. Thank you.

I have the Searching logic all working. The control builds custom search fields and performs searches based on declarative C# classes implementing my SearchSpec interface. I have to do this.sp1.MyTemplateContainer.FindControl("ownerBox") to get the control. How can I make it so that the C# Code Behind will have the controls generated and not null in my Page_Load event so that developers can just do this: testNameBox.Text = "foo"; ownerBox.Text = "bar"; descriptionBox.Text = "baz";

  I am trying to build a webservice that manipulates http requests POST and GET. I have the website set up, I have the code for the handler in a .cs file, i have edited the web.config to add the handler for the file extension I need. Now I am at the step 3 where you tell IIS about this extension and map it to ASP.NET. Also I am using IIS 7 so interface is slightly different than the screenshots. This is the problem I have: 1) Go to website 2) Go to handler mappings 3) Go Add Script Map 4) request path - put the extension I want to handle 5) Executable- it seems i am told to set aspnet_isapi.dll here. Maybe this is incorrect? 6) Give name 7) Hit OK button: Add Script Map Do you want to allow this ISAPI extension? Click "Yes" to add the extension with an "Allowed" entry to the ISAPI and CGI Restrictions list or to update an existing extension entry to "Allowed" in the ISAPI and CGI Restrictions list. Yes No Cancel 8) Hit Yes Add Script Map The specified module required by this handler is not in the modules list. If you are adding a script map handler mapping, the IsapiModule or the CgiModule must be in the modules list. OK edit 2: Have just figured out that that managed handler had something to do with handlers witten in managed code, script map was to help configuring an executable and module mapping to work with http Modules. So I should be using option 1 - Add Managed Handler. In the applications folder (in IIS) so far I just have the MyHandler.cs and web.config (Of course also a file with the extension I am trying to create the handler for!) edit3: progress So now I have the code and the web.config set up I test to see If I can browse to the filename.CustomExtension file: HTTP Error 404.3 - Not Found The page you are requesting cannot be served because of the extension configuration. • Why does my UIWebView not Allow User Interaction?

  Hi, I'm new to these forums so I apologize for my noobieness. I did as thorough a search as I could, but I couldn't find anyone else with this issue, applogise if this has been covered elsewhere. I've created a very simple example of my problem. I'm sure I'm missing something but I can't for the life of me figure out what. I'm creating a UIWebView and adding it to a custom view controller that inherits from UIViewController. When the app loads in the iPad simulator, the uiwebview loads the desired page, but the UIWebView is entirely unresponsive. The webview does not pan or scroll and none of the in page links can be clicked. However, if you change the orientation of the webview suddleny everything works. Thanks in advance for your help!!   I have a Windows Service which communicates with WCF services. The WCF services are all fault shielded and generate custom UserFaultContracts and ServiceFaultContracts. No problems there. In the Windows Service I am using EntLib for exception handling and logging. • WPF: Updating visibility of controls not updating the screen

  I will preface this by stating that I am new to WPF programming and may be making multiple errors. Any insight that can be provided to help me improve in my skills are greatly appreciated. I am working with a WPF application and am looping through a list of objects that contain properties that describe a document that should be built on the fly and automatically printed. I am attempting to display a small grid in the interface that shows the document being built before it is printed. This serves two purposes: one, it allows the user to see work being done by the application. Two, it renders the items on the screen so that I can then have something to actually print since WPF appears to not be able to load an image for printing dynamicaly without displaying it on the screen. In my code, I am setting the various elements in the grid and setting the visibility to visible. However, the UI is not updating and the printed document doesn't look as intended since the image never shows up on the screen. Basically it builds a visual element for a page, prints an XPS version of it and then builds the next page and prints it, etc. Once all pages have been processed, the job is actually sent to the printer. The only purpose of this application is to let the user print these documents so there is not other task that they can do in the application while the documents print. I thought that putting this task in a background thread would help to update the UI but since I am trying to manipulate items directly on the UI thread it would appear that this option won't work for me. What am I doing wrong here and how can I improve the code so that I can get the behavior that I am trying to achieve?

  Scenario: A .NET-based application server (Wonderware IAS/System Platform) hosts automation objects that communicate with various equipment on the factory floor. CPython is hosted inside this application server (using Python for .NET). The automation objects have scripting functionality built-in (using a custom, .NET-based language). These scripts call Python functions. The Python functions are part of a system to track Work-In-Progress on the factory floor. The purpose of the system is to track the produced widgets along the process, ensure that the widgets go through the process in the correct order, and check that certain conditions are met along the process. The widget production history and widget state is stored in a relational database, this is where SQLAlchemy plays its part. For two reasons: There is another family of functions, sequence functions. The sequence functions call several of the basic functions. One sequence function should equal one database transaction.   I'm playing around with Silverlight Images and a listbox. Here's the scenario. Using WCF I grab some images out of my database and, using a custom class, add items to a listbox. It's working great right now. The images load and appear in the listbox, just like I want them to. The datatemplate is a custom control and literally it contains a contentpresenter, nothing more. Now the class that I use as the ItemSource has a Source property. The images that I'm downloading take about 2-5 seconds to download. Now for the problem / fine tuning. Right now my code will check if the source is null and if it is, return a loading element, and run the background worker to get the image. Once the background worker finishes, set the source to the new downloaded image. I want to be able to set the Source property AFTER the image has fully downloaded. Right now my loading element appears for a brief second, then there's nothing for 2-5 seconds until the image finishes downloading. I want the loading elements to stick around until the image is completely ready but I'm having troubles doing this. I've tried adding a a listener to the ImageOpened event and update the Source property then, but it doesn't work. Thanks in advance.

• Servlet/JSP Flow Control: Enums, Exceptions, or Something Else?

  I recently inherited an application developed with bare servlets and JSPs (i.e.: no frameworks). I've been tasked with cleaning up the error-handling workflow. Currently, each <form> in the workflow submits to a servlet, and based on the result of the form submission, the servlet does one of two things: If everything is OK, the servlet either forwards or redirects to the next page in the workflow. If there's a problem, such as an invalid username or password, the servlet forwards to a page specific to the problem condition. For example, there are pages such as AccountDisabled.jsp, AccountExpired.jsp, AuthenticationFailed.jsp, SecurityQuestionIncorrect.jsp, etc. I need to redesign this system to centralize how problem conditions are handled. So far, I've considered two possible solutions: Exceptions Create an exception class specific to my needs, such as AuthException. Inherit from this class to be more specific when necessary (e.g.: InvalidUsernameException, InvalidPasswordException, AccountDisabledException, etc.). Whenever there's a problem condition, throw an exception specific to the condition. Catch all exceptions via web.xml and route them to the appropriate page(s) with the <error-page> tag. enums Adopt an error code approach, with an enum keeping track of the error code and description. The descriptions can be read from a resource bundle in the finished product. I'm leaning more toward the enum approach, as an authentication failure isn't really an "exceptional condition" and I don't see any benefit in adding clutter to the server logs. Plus, I'd just be replacing one maintenance headache with another. Instead of separate JSPs to maintain, I'd have separate Exception classes. I'm planning on implementing "error" handling in a servlet that I'm writing specifically for this purpose. I'm also going to eliminate all of the separate error pages, instead setting an error request attribute with the error message to display to the user and forwarding back to the referrer. Each target servlet (Logon, ChangePassword, AnswerProfileQuestions, etc.) would add an error code to the request and redirect to my new servlet in the event of a problem.   When using sfDoctrineGuard plugin, it automatically generates the backend administration functionality where I can edit users of the system and assign them permissions. So I visit http://.../backend_dev.php/sf_guard_user/:id/edit where I am presented with the user's information including the available permissions to select. By default the permissions are shown as a multiple select box, HTML follows: <select name="sf_guard_user[permissions_list][]" multiple="multiple" id="sf_guard_user_permissions_list"> <option value="1">Permission1</option> <option value="2">Permission2</option> <option value="3">Permission3</option> <option value="4">Permission4</option> </select> What I would prefer is a list of checkboxes. So I searched around and found that if I add the option "expanded" set to true to the following code: 'permissions_list' => new sfWidgetFormDoctrineChoice(array('multiple' => true, 'model' => 'sfGuardPermission', 'expanded' => true,)), The code is part of this file: lib/form/doctrine/sfDoctrineGuardPlugin/base/BasesfGuardUserForm.class.php. I don't think I should've edited this file (potential for changes to be overwritten should sfDoctrineGuard ever be re-installed) but couldn't think of another way to make it work. It would be easy if there was a template to edit but since I'm dealing with the Forms framework it is my understanding that the templates are generated on the fly - I can see them in my symonfy cache folder. How would I go about this? I started writing my own sfWidgetFormDoctrineChoicePermission class that extends the same class as sfWidgetFormDoctrineChoice but am struggling to edit the rendering functions correctly for the desired output. Is this the correct way to go about this work? I also need to integrate my sfGuardUserProfile model into the edit user page (same as above), I read somwhere that editing the generator.yml file for the sfGuardUser plugin module and simply adding the field names from the sfGuardUserProfile table would make it work, but sadly it doesn't. Any help with any of my queries would be appreciated. Thanks

• Asp.net MVC/Silverlight and Sharepoint 2010 integration

  Just a sidenote: I'm not sure whether I should post this to serverfault as well, because some MOSS admin may have some info for me as well? Additional note 1: I've found this document (Asp.net MVC 2 & Sharepoint integration) if anybody with sufficient expirience is willing to comment on its content whether this can be used in my described scenario or not. Additional note 2: I've discovered (later) that Silverlight is supported in Sharepoint 2010 so I'm considering it as well. So if anyone would comment on silverlight integration as well. A bit of explanation first (without Asp.net MVC/Silverlight) Is it possible to integrate the two? Is it possible to write an application that would share at least credential information with MOSS? I have to write a MOSS application that has to do with these technologies: MOSS 2010 Personal client certificates authentication (most probably on USB keys) Active Directory Federation Services Separate SQL DB that would serve application specific data (separate as not being part of MOSS DB) How should it work? Users should authenticate using personal certificates into MOSS 2010 There would be a certain part of MOSS that would be related to my custom application This application should only authorize certain users via AD FS - I guess these users should have a certain security claim attached to them This application should manage users (that have access to this app) with additional (app specific) security claims related to this application (as additional application level authorization rights for individual application parts) This application should use custom SQL 2008 DB heavily with its own data This application should have the possibility to integrate with external systems as well (Exchange for instance to inject calendar entries, ERP systems etc) This application should be able to export its data (from its DB) to files. I don't know if it's possible, but it would be nice if the app could add these files to MOSS and attach authorization info to them so only users with sufficient rights would be able to view/open these files. Why Asp.net MVC/Silverlight then? I'm very well versed in Asp.net MVC (also with the latest version) and I haven't done anything on Sharepoint since version 2003 (which doesn't do me no good or prepare me for the latest version in any way shape or form). This project will most probably be a death march project so I would rather write my application as a UI rich Asp.net MVC application and somehow integrate it into MOSS. But not only via a link, because I would like to at least share credentials, so users wouldn't need to re-login when accessing my app. Using Asp.net MVC I would at least have the possibility to finish on time or be less death marching. Is this at all possible? I haven't done any serious project using SIlverlight, but I will sooner or later have to. So I'm also considering a jump into it at this moment, because it still might make this application development easier than strict Sharepoint 2010. Questions Is it possible to integrate Asp.net MVC/Silverlight into MOSS as described above? If integration is not possible, would it be possible to create a completely MOSS based application that would work as described? Which parts of MOSS 2010 should I use to accomplish what I need?

• How to use multiple instances of a usercontrol (with jquery) on the same page

  Hi All, I've been working on an usercontrol with a jquery timer in it. At first I had the jquery within the usercontrol. But when I add 2 of those controls to my page the second usercontrol isn't showing it's data very well. Now I've put the jquery into the mainpage and the usercontrol only uses the id's of the jquery. • Zend_Nav in zend framework issue getting menu to show up

  Hi ! First time of here, so please bare with me. I have to following problem, using zend framework, specifically zend_nav to create a reusable menu to be passed in via the layout/layout.phtml page.   I've read as many search results I could find on this dreaded problem, unfortunatelly, each one seems to focus on a specific function call. My problem is that I get the same error from multiple functions, which I am guessing are being called back from functions that I use. To make matters worse, the actual code is within a custom private framework which is being imported in another project, and as such, debugging isn't as simple? Can anyone point me to the right direction? At which point they spawn multiple times, until the keyboard won't provide any input. Touch events are still registered, but system slows down, and eventually may lead to unallocated object errors.
