• How do I install OSQA with limited access to the server?

  I would very much like to install OSQA on my host (provided/owned by my friend), but I can not make heads or tails of how I would go about doing it; a lot of the dependancies and such can't be installed with the current level of access (or most probably just knowledge) that I have. I can provide any further information required, and attempt to contact (friend) to see if he can do any of it for me, but I'm unsure as to how often I will be able to contact him. exec and shell_exec are not disabled on the server. If there are any other alternatives that I could use, please let me know! I tried Qwench but that was pretty buggy. I can usually deal with these kind of things, but this is my first foray into Python stuff!

• Vim and emacs usage/use case/user statistics

  I wonder if there are statistical documents/research based on use of the two major text editors, in which amount of usage is compared to use case, be it programming language, industry, user age, OS and/or many other things I can't think of now. I don't need this information for an assignment/homework or something, I'm just curious about it. I've been searching this for some time, not very intensively, and only thing I have found was this: Emacs user base size Lastly, I want to denote that I'm not looking for estimations. • Enabling and Disabling components in Unity

  I'm trying to create an enable/ disable game objects in Unity. I used GameObject.SetActiveRecursively but it only works one-way. I used a collider in which when an object enters the collider. The game objects become enabled. When they leave or get to a certain point, they disable. How would I make this a two way system, making it able to be enabled while inside the collider and disabled when outside the collider? -- The collider is in the game object who is being disabled and enabled. According to this information from Unity Answers, the object becomes disabled. So how would I make the object enabled?

• Site inaccessible by some people, fine for others [on hold]

  A couple of days ago my website www.howellphoto.com (hosted by one.com, wordpress site) started loading really slowly, and I have been unable to access any pages linked from the homepage. Several of my friends have found the same issue, yet many are able to access the site without problem. Live support at one.com have not been all that much help, requesting the ip addresses of a few people who cannot access the site, and saying it could be a firewall issue. Wordpress support (my site was created in prophotoblogs) have been better and have updated all plugins, etc, but can see no issue from their end. My main issue is that even if there was a local fix that I could do on my computer, this would not help wih any potential customers visiting my site for information! This is driving me crazy!!! • Partition showing up twice under devices

  I have an ntfs data partition on the same drive as my ubuntu 12.04 partition. I wanted to have this partition automatically mount at startup so that dropbox can start syncing at startup without me having to manually mount it (my dropbox folder is on the partition). I edited the fstab file by appending the following to it: #Data-Partition UUID=762639DE416D0A21 /media/Data ntfs-3g rw,auto,users,exec,nls=utf8,umask=003,gid=46,uid=1000 0 2 The drive now automounts at startup like I wanted, but now I have a duplicate Data entry under my Devices list. This only appeared after editing the fstab file. The second Data entry under Devices does not mount properly and I do not want it there. • No sound after updating from 11.10 to 12.04

  Hi I updated a friends computer from 11.10 to 12.04 and the sound stopped working in the built-in speakers. The computer is a Sony Vaio PCG-2J1L. • Transparent PHP script execution using mod_rewrite

  I am looking for a solution for this a problem: I need that every HTTP request (method is irrelevant) in Apache http server would be served only after execution of specific PHP script. This is needed because I need to gather some information about requests, etc. As far as I understand - this could be achieved using mod_rewrite module. So far I have done this (in .htaccess file): RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^(.*)$ script.php [C] script.php is executed, but I need that after this original request would be executed. • What is the good way of sharing specific data between ViewModels

  We have IAppContext which is injected into ViewModel. This service contains shared data: global filters and other application wide properties. But there are cases when data is very specific. For example one VM implements Master and the second one - Details of selected tree item. Thus DetailsVm must know about the selected item and its changes. We can store this information either in IAppContext or inside each concerned VM. In both cases update notifications are sent via Messenger. I see pros and cons for any of the approaches and can not decide which one is better. 1st: + explicitly exposed shared proerties, easy to follow dependencies - IAppContxt becomes cluttered with very specific data. 2nd: the exact opposite of the first and more memory load due to data duplication. May be someone can offer design alternatives or tell that one of the variants is objectively superior to the other cause I miss something important?

• Ubuntu 12.04 on Vm Player showing Wired Network Instead of Wireless Network

  I am new to Ubuntu, recently I installed ubuntu 12.04 in Vm Player (Virtual Machine) on my Dell laptop having windows 7 ultimate 32 bit for just to check the security of my wireless network and want to crack the WiFi (WPA-PSK) password but in ubuntu it does not show the wireless network it shows the 2 arrow sign as i have not connect the ethernet cable to my laptop and connected through WiFi on my main OS (windows 7) but it shows the wired network and internet is working but it does not show wifi connection. On windows 7 WiFi is connected and showing the WiFi connection and working correctly.But my main motive is to crack the WiFi password as it can't detect WiFi network so what to do? Anyone who's browsed the documentation there knows that there's a lot of need for improvement for more clear understandings on use for each property. My question on this post is more about the "significantLinks" property and how it effects SEO for on page, in content anchored text. Does anyone have any more information regarding whether its good to use for link optimization? I understand what schema.org means that it's to be used on "non-navigational links" and those links should be relevant to the current page's meaning. But will using this property hurt SEO or make SEO better for each page?

• Trouble setting up openVPN/VPN

  I'm having trouble setting up a VPN on my VPS that's running Ubuntu 11.04. I'm been following this guide http://tipupdate.com/how-to-install-openvpn-on-ubuntu-vps/ I'm able to start the VPN, but the command it tell's me to do after I start the VPN doesn't work for me. I've tried it about 5 different way's and i'll show you what i get now. :~# iptables -A FORWARD -m state --state RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT iptables: No chain/target/match by that name. :~# iptables -A FORWARD state --state RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT Bad argument `state' Try `iptables -h' or 'iptables --help' for more information. I just can't get that to work and the VPN doesn't seem to be workign with out it. Can someone help me fix this?

• Installing Ubuntu 13.10 'Saucy Salamander' on L75D-A7280 hangs on a black screen

  Trying to get Ubuntu 13.10 to work and it will not. Seen that somebody is having a similar problem, some things failing then it just hangs on a black screen (after pressing F1 to see what it's doing). My system is a Toshiba Satellite L75D-A7280, and I have tried two different files that I had downloaded from Ubuntu.com with no luck. My laptop came with Windows 8 and following the dual-boot directions Ubuntu 12.04 was installed and worked perfect, except for completely obliterating Windows 8 and voiding my warranty, meaning neither Toshiba nor the retail center I bought my system from can help me legally, besides giving advice... nor can I return it to get a non-UEFI based system. I really need to figure this out, I am a student and need my laptop working properly with any OS I put on it. Will continue searching for any information I can find.

• Acer AO722 flickering screen

  The screen on my Acer Aspire One netbook (AO722) flickers for a few minutes when Ubuntu awakens the screen after a period of inactivity. I am pretty sure this is not a hardware issue, as I never see this problem in Windows and both of my Acer netbooks exhibit the same problem. I see the flickering in all recent versions of Ubuntu -- 11.10, 11.04, and 10.10. Surprisingly I haven't been able to find a lot of information about this problem online. I believe the video card in this netbook is Radeon 6290 paired with AMD C-60. I am using the default open source video driver. Would appreciate any tips on how to get rid of the flicker. Thanks!

• Minecraft program frame rate is very slow

  I have recently downloaded Minecraft to Ubuntu 12.04. It launches and plays successfully, however- the frame rates for the game are extremely slow. They never go past 9 fps and usually drop below 3 fps. I have been a Windows XP user for years and have just recently switched to Ubuntu, so I'm not an expert with this OS. My video card is a Diamond Stealth s60 with Radeon 7000. I don't know what other information you guys need but if you ask for it, and would please tell me how to get to it, I will tell you as soon as I can. Thanks for your help.

• New and Improved Patch for FRM-40654 Errors in Purchase Orders and Requisitions

  Development has modified the code in purchase orders and requisition forms to prevent error FRM-40654 when there are trailing spaces in the tables for most of the fields.  After applying the patch, the form will still display the error but a requery will allow you to save the transaction. For the scenarios not covered in the fix, the FND log will now display the specific field that causes the error.  This an example of the FND log for one document where the note_to_vendor has trailing spaces: Form note_to_vendor oldvalue Database  note_to_vendor newvalue Failed first if statement when comparing fields FRM-40654: Record has been updated. Requery block to see change. This new patch includes the fix in Patch 14204845:"In Oracle Purchasing, leading or trailing spaces in po lines data was resulting in errors".  For more information on FRM-40654 errors see the patching section of Note 1203796.1. Be proactive and apply Patch 14479586:R12.PO.B for 12.1.3 or Patch 14569747 for 11.5.10 now!
