• c#/.NET SQLite -- REINDEX not working?

  Hello all, I'm trying to reindex a table in a simple database that I created using SQLite.NET and VS2008. I need to reindex tables after every DELETE command and here is the code snippet I have written (it does not work): SQLiteCommand currentCommand; String tempString = "REINDEX tf_questions"; //String tempString = "REINDEX [main].tf_questions"; //String tempString = "REINDEX main.tf_questions"; currentCommand = new SQLiteCommand(myConnection); currentCommand.CommandText = tempString; currentCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() When run within my program, the code produces no errors, but it also doesn't reindex the "tf_questions" table. In the above example, you will also see the other query strings I've tried that also don't work. Please help, Thanks

A quick search found a couple of promising options that look they might offer what I need: LINQ to JavaScript and jLinq Does any one have any experience using them? What are some pros and cons? Is the performance comparable? Does the function-passing syntax of LINQ to JavaScript offer any hidden benefits (I personally find the syntax of jLinq more appealing on first glance)? • Finding first alphabetic character in a DB2 database field

  I'm doing a bit of work which requires me to truncate DB2 character-based fields. Essentially, I need to discard all text which is found at or after the first alphabetic character. e.g. 102048994BLAHBLAHBLAH becomes:- 102048994 In SQL Server, this would be a doddle - PATINDEX would swoop in and save the day. Much celebration would ensue. My problem is that I need to do this in DB2. Worse, the result needs to be used in a join query, also in DB2. I can't find an easy way to do this. Is there a PATINDEX equivalent in DB2? Is there another way to solve this problem? If need be, I'll hardcode 26 chained LOCATE functions to get my result, but if there is a better way, I am all ears.

  I previously asked a question about chaining conditions in Linq To Entities. Now I use LinqKit and everything works fine. I want to see the generated SQL and after reading this answer, I use LinqPad. How can I see the generated SQL if LINQPad fails?

My question: i want to design a database, that will be used for a production facility of different types of products where each product has its own (number of) parameters. because i want the serial numbers to be in one tabel for overview purposes i have a problem with these different paraeters . One solution could be EAV, but it has its downsides, certainly because we have +- 5 products with every product +- 20.000 serial numbers (records). it looks a bit overkill to me... I just don't know how one could design a database so that you have an attribute in a mastertable that says: 'hey, you could find details of this record in THAT detail-table". 'in a way that you qould easely query the results) currenty i am using Visual Basic & Acces 2007. but i'm going to Visual Basic & MySQL. thanks for your help. Bob

• Using Phing's dbdeploy task with transactions

  I am using Phing's dbdeploy task to manage my database schema. This is working fine, as long as there is no errors in my delta file. However, if there is an error, dbdeploy will just run the delta files up to the query with the error and then abort. This causes me some frustration, because I have to manually rollback the entry in the changelog table then. If I don't, dbdeploy will assume the migration was successful on a subsequent try. So the question is, there any way to get dbdeploy use transactions?

• what to do when Bing api provides inaccurate results

  I am trying to use the bing Phonebook search for locations in China, but all the latitude and longitude are inaccurate. Using the following http://api.bing.net/xml.aspx?AppId=appid&Query=nike&Sources=Phonebook&Latitude=39.9883699&Longitude=116.3309665&Radius=30.0&Phonebook.Count=10&Phonebook.Offset=30 I get multiple locations with the same latitude and longitude, and the rounding is off as well. The latitude and longitude will always end with either .x00001 or .0. The results from the pho:LocalSerpUrl http://www.bing.com/shenghuo/default.aspx?what=nike&where=&s_cid=ansPhBkYp01&ac=false&FORM=SOAPGN /pho:LocalSerpUrl Is right, but the results from the returned xml is off. Also it seems users outside of China can't hit that url and get the result. So I am wondering how I can contact bing and inquire about this problem

  Hello. I want to list messages that received specific user from other users group by ID's and ordered by last message received. If I use this query: SELECT MAX(id), fromid, toid, message FROM pro_messages WHERE toid=00003 GROUP BY fromid I do not get last message sent from user "fromid" to user "toid" but the first message sent. Can I do that in some other way or I need to do it with two queries or join tables? id - message id fromid - id of user who sent message toid - id of user who receive message (in this case user 00003)

  An alternative title might be: Check for existence of multiple rows? Using a combination of SQL and C# I want a method to return true if all products in a list exist in a table. If it can be done in all in SQL that would be preferable. I have written a method that returns whether a single productID exists using the following SQL: SELECT productID FROM Products WHERE ProductID = @productID If this returns a row, then the c# method returns true, false otherwise. Now I'm wondering if I have a list of product IDs (not a huge list mind you, normally under 20). How can I write a query that will return a row if all the product id's exist and no row if one or more product id's does not exist? (Maybe something involving "IN" like: SELECT * FROM Products WHERE ProductID IN (1, 10, 100))

  I would like to select every column of a table, but want to have distinct values on a single attribute of my rows (City in the example). I don't want extra columns like counts or anything, just a limited number of results, and it seems like it is not possible to directly LIMIT results in a JPQL query.   Hi, I have a parent child relationship, let's say class and children. Each child belongs to a class and has a grade. I need to select the children (or the ids of the children) with the lowest grade per class. session.CreateCriteria(typeof(Classs)) .CreateAlias("Children", "children") .SetProjection(Projections.ProjectionList() .Add(Projections.Min("children.Grade")) .Add(Projections.GroupProperty("Id")) ) .List<Object[]>(); This query returns me the lowest grade per class, but I don't know which child got the grade. When I add the children's Id to the group, the group is wrong and every child gets returned. I was hoping we could just select get the id's of those childs without grouping them. If this is not possible, then maybe there is a way to solve this with subqueries?

  I'm calling a web API exposed by TheyWorkForYou (TWFI). http://www.theyworkforyou.com/api/ I'm using the Python bindings provided by twfython: http://code.google.com/p/twfython/ I wrote some code to call this API a few months ago, at which time it worked fine. But now I dig it out to run it again, no matter what query I ask of the API, it always returns '{}' (an empty dictionary).   I have a web service which runs with a HttpHandler class. In this class, I inspect the request stream for form / query string parameters. In some circumstances, it seemed as though these parameters weren't getting through. After a bit of digging around, I came across some behaviour I don't quite understand.   I like the apparent simplicity of JdbcTemplate but am a little confused as to how it works. It appears that each operation (query() or update()) fetches a connection from a datasource and closes it. Beautiful, but how do you perform multiple SQL queries within the same connection? I might want to perform multiple operations in sequence (for example SELECT followed by an INSERT followed by a commit) or I might want to perform nested queries (SELECT and then perform a second SELECT based on result of each row). How do I do that with JdbcTemplate. Am I using the right class?

  hey folks, I'm setting up a keyword search across multiple fields: name_first, name_middle, name_last but I'm not getting the results I'd like. Here's the query: "SELECT accounts_users.user_ID, users.name_first, users.name_middle, users.name_last, users.company FROM accounts_users, users WHERE accounts_users.account_ID = '$account_ID' AND accounts_users.user_ID = users.id AND CONCAT_WS(' ', users.name_first, users.name_middle, users.name_last) LIKE '$user_keyword%' ORDER BY users.name_first ASC" So, if I've got three names in the DB: Aaron J Ban Aaron J Can Bob L Lawblaw And if the user_keyword == "bob lawblaw" I get no result. If user_keyword == "bob L" then it returns Bob L Lawblaw. Obviously I can't force people to include the persons middle name in their keyword search but I'm stuck for the proper way to do this. All help is greatly appreciated.

• MySql timeouts - Should I set autoReconnect=true in Spring application?

  After periods of inactivity on my website (Using Spring 2.5 and MySql), I get the following error: org.springframework.dao.RecoverableDataAccessException: The last packet sent successfully to the server was 52,847,830 milliseconds ago. is longer than the server configured value of 'wait_timeout'. You should consider either expiring and/or testing connection validity before use in your application, increasing the server configured values for client timeouts, or using the Connector/J connection property 'autoReconnect=true' to avoid this problem. According to this question, and the linked bug, I shouldn't just set autoReconnect=true. Does this mean I have to catch this exception on any queries I do and then retry the transaction? Should that logic be in the data access layer, or the model layer? Is there an easy way to handle this instead of wrapping every single query to catch this?

  Hi, I'm trying to position a rectangle in an InkCanvas. I am using the following method. Unfortunately when I add the rectangle it gets displayed at (0,0). Although when I query to see the whether the left property is 0 I get a non zero values. Does anyone know why this might be?
