  • windvd aacs keys update dosn't work

    A relative has a viao htpc, which has blue ray. The player I believe is a viao branded version of windvd with blue ray support. Every time it loads it asks if it should update the aacs keys as they are out of date. If you select yes nothing happens. The package just sits there forever saying that you shouldn't turn it off. I have tried to go to the products website (which is now corel) registering and downloading the keys, but the key download page does nothing. Has anyone had a similar problem, or are there any suggestions to get around it?

  • 3d Picking under reticle

    i'm currently trying to work out some 3d picking code that I started years ago, but then lost interested the assignment was completed (this part wasn't actually part of the assignment). I am not using the mouse coords for picking, i'm just using the position in 3d space and a ray directly out from there. A small hitch though is that I want to use a cone and not a ray.   • Leaks on Wikis: "Corporations...You're Next!" Oracle Desktop Virtualization Can Help.

    Between all the press coverage on the unauthorized release of 251,287 diplomatic documents and on previous extensive releases of classified documents on the events in Iraq and Afghanistan, one could be forgiven for thinking massive leaks are really an issue for governments, but it is not: It is an issue for corporations as well. In fact, corporations are apparently set to be the next big target for things like Wikileaks. Just the threat of such a release against one corporation recently caused the price of their stock to drop 3% after the leak organization claimed to have 5GB of information from inside the company, with the implication that it might be damaging or embarrassing information. At the moment of this blog anyway, we don't know yet if that is true or how they got the information but how did the diplomatic cable leak happen? For the diplomatic cables, according to press reports, a private in the military, with some appropriate level of security clearance (that is, he apparently had the correct level of security clearance to be accessing the information...he reportedly didn't "hack" his way through anything to get to the documents which might have raised some red flags...), is accused of accessing the material and copying it onto a writeable CD labeled "Lady Gaga" and walking out the door with it. Upload and... Done. In the same article, the accused is quoted as saying "Information should be free. It belongs in the public domain." Now think about all the confidential information in your company or non-profit... from credit card information, to phone records, to customer or donor lists, to corporate strategy documents, product cost information, etc, etc.... And then think about that last quote above from what was a very junior level person in the organization...still feeling comfortable with your ability to control all your information? So what can you do to guard against these types of breaches where there is no outsider (or even insider) intrusion to detect per se, but rather someone with malicious intent is physically walking out the door with data that they are otherwise allowed to access in their daily work? A major first step it to make it physically, logistically much harder to walk away with the information. If the user with malicious intent has no way to copy to removable or moble media (USB sticks, thumb drives, CDs, DVDs, memory cards, or even laptop disk drives) then, as a practical matter it is much more difficult to physically move the information outside the firewall. But how can you control access tightly and reliably and still keep your hundreds or even thousands of users productive in their daily job?   • Hashing 3D position into 2D position

    I am doing volumetric raycasting and curently working on depth jitter. I have 3D position on ray and want to sample 2D noise texture to jitter the depth. Function for converting (or hashing) 3D position to 2D have to produce absolutely different numbers for a little changes (especialy because i am sampling in texture space so sample values differs very very little) and have to be "shader-wise" - so forget about branches, cycles etc. I'm looking forward for yours nice and fast solutions.

    The newest QT has a feature to record or capture the current screen. My iMac 27 is too big if I want to record the whole screen. Can I designate a region or an application window for recording? I could not find a way to do that. Not sure if I have to use alternative applications to do it.

Is an undergraduate Master's good enough for a Master's or one should go for MS? How much time should one wait (in their job) before going for a MS if that's the decision? Does one lose the progress which one makes while at the job before the Master's? Note: Undergraduate Master's is when my degree is called Master's but it is my first degree. This one is a four year one.

    using Silverlight & Prism. i create a new scoped region inside a TabControl like so: IRegionManager regionManager = tabControl.Add(viewRegions, UNIQUEID, true); then from the TabControl SelectionChanged event i want to get the name of that region. so i go: TabItem item = e.AddedItems[0] as TabItem; FrameworkElement view = item.Content as FrameworkElement; IRegionManager xxx = RegionManager.GetRegionManager(view); so now i have the scoped region manager at hand = xxx! but how do i get its name? (the "UNIQUEID" param i have assigned to it ). HOW?

    Imagine I've got the following in a text file opened under Emacs: some 34 word 30 another 38 thing 59 to 39 say 10 here 47 and I want to turn into this, adding 1 to every number made of 2 digits: some 35 word 31 another 39 thing 60 to 40 say 11 here 48 (this is a short example, my actual need is on a much bigger list, not my call) How can I do this from Emacs? I don't mind calling some external Perl/sed/whatever magic as long as the call is made directly from Emacs and operates only on the marked region I want. How would you automate this from Emacs? I think the answer I'm thinking of consist in calling shell-command-on-region and replace the region by the output... But I'm not sure as to how to concretely do this.

    I have a Latitude, Longitude, and a direction of travel in degrees true north. I would like to calculate if I will intersect a line defined by two more Lat/Lon points. I figure the two points defining the line would create my great circle and my location and azimuth would define my ray (or possibly a small circle). Any ideas?

    There are four regions with more than one million records total. Should I create a table with a region column or a table for each region and combine them to get the top ranks? If I combine all four regions, none of my columns will be unique so I will need to also add an id column for my primary key.     I've spent more time than I should trying to get my ray picking program working. I'm pretty convinced my math is solid with respect to line plane intersection, but I believe the problem lies with the changing of the mouse screen touch into 3D world space. It would be appreciated if you would answer using OpenGL ES 2.0 code.

    Hi, My problem: error message when playing blu-ray movies stating that the HDCP encryption could not be established. My setup: A new projector (EPSON EMP TW700) with a HDCP-compliant HDMI port a PC with a brand-new graphics adapter (Sapphire HD 4350 512MB DDR2) supporting HDCP Connection made with a DVI cable (it's installed in my wall) and a DVI-HDMI adapter to connect the projector Latest drivers and software My questions: What can I do to establish the HDCP connection? Would it help to use the HDMI output of the graphics adapter instead of the DVI (could it be that the HDCP chip is only supported on HDMI?) Any other ideas? I am very thankful for any hint.

  • Empty DVD Drive indicates it has music in it (CDFS)

    I have a Windows 7, 64 bit computer with a Blu-ray DVD drive. When I first start the computer, the DVD drive indicates it has music in it, but it is empty. If I put a CD in it, it will not Autoplay. But, if I open the drive and close it again, it will Autoplay and will no longer act as if it has a music CD in it. I've checked the drive with Plextor Utilities and it says it is working OK. I would appreciate any help with this.

  • Emacs 23: Selection not highlighted

    I installed Ubuntu 10.04, and with it came Emacs 23. If I want to select text in Emacs, that works perfectly fine except the fact that the region is not highlighted. However, this only happens, if I try to make a region using the keyboard. If I select something with the mouse, it is highlighted as usual. Does anybody know, why the region is not highlighted and how to fix that?

The NavigationWindow has a fairly large ControlTemplate that houses a ContentPresenter as so: <ControlTemplate> ....snip... <ContentPresenter x:Name="PART_NavWinCP" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"/> .....snip.... </ControlTemplate> What we want to do is use that ContentPresenter as the first tab and dynamically add other tabs at run time. Like this: <ControlTemplate> ....snip... <TabControl Background="Transparent" cal:RegionManager.RegionName="MainRegion" Grid.ColumnSpan="2" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"> <TabItem Header="Nav Window Content"> <ContentPresenter x:Name="PART_NavWinCP" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"/> </TabItem> </TabControl> .....snip.... </ControlTemplate> Then our Modules grab the RegionName and insert their content dynamically. The issue seems to be that the PRISM region manager doesn't like that our code is in a ContentTemplate and cannot resolve the region. I have tried updating the RegionManager, adding the Region dynamically, just having a root tab control without the ContentPresenter, but I cannot get this to work. Any ideas?
