  • android app working on simulator but not on phone

    - by raqz
    i have this app that i developed and it works great on the simulator with no errors what so ever. but the moment i try to run the same on the phone for testing, the app crashes stating filenotfoundexception. it says the file /res/drawable/divider_horizontal.9.png is missing. but actually speaking, i have never referenced that file through my code. i believe its a system/os file that is unavailable. i have a custom list view, i guess its the divider there... could somebody please suggest what is wrong here. i believe this is a similar issue discussed here..but i am unable to make any sense out of it http://code.google.com/p/transdroid/issues/detail?id=14 the listview.xml layout file <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout • while loop ignore the event listener

    - by Tamer
    so when i run this code to try to change the background the GUI crashes and gets stuck in a infinite while loop ignoring the event listeners. here is the code: `private Panel getPanel1() { if (panel1 == null) { panel1 = new Panel(); panel1.setLayout(new GridBagLayout()); while(frame.isVisible()){ panel1.addMouseListener(new java.awt.event.MouseAdapter() { public void mouseClicked(java.awt.event.MouseEvent e) { frame.setVisible(false); } }); int r = (int) (Math.random()*255); int g = (int) (Math.random()*255); int b = (int) (Math.random()*255); Color c = new Color(r, g, b); panel1.setBackground(c); try { Thread.sleep(4000); } catch (InterruptedException e1) { e1.printStackTrace(); } panel1.addMouseListener(new java.awt.event.MouseAdapter() { public void mouseClicked(java.awt.event.MouseEvent e) { /*panel1.setVisible(false); frame.setVisible(false);*/ System.exit(0); } }); } } return panel1; }` instead of exiting the loop of terminating the program or event changing the background it just displays the panel and does nothing else and i have to force it to quit. what should i do?

  • Java Runtime command line Process

    - by AEIOU
    I have a class with the following code: Process process = null; try { process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("gs -version"); System.out.println(process.toString()); } catch (Exception e1) { e1.printStackTrace(); } finally { process.destroy(); } I can run "gs -version" on my command line and get: GPL Ghostscript 8.71 (2010-02-10) Copyright (C) 2010 Artifex Software, Inc. All rights reserved. So I know I have the path at least set somewhere. I can run that class from command line and it works. But when I run it using eclipse I get the following error: java.io.IOException: Cannot run program "gs": error=2, No such file or directory at java.lang.ProcessBuilder.start(ProcessBuilder.java:459) at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Runtime.java:593) at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Runtime.java:431) at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Runtime.java:328) at clris.batchdownloader.TestJDBC.main(TestJDBC.java:17) Caused by: java.io.IOException: error=2, No such file or directory at java.lang.UNIXProcess.forkAndExec(Native Method) at java.lang.UNIXProcess.(UNIXProcess.java:53) at java.lang.ProcessImpl.start(ProcessImpl.java:91) at java.lang.ProcessBuilder.start(ProcessBuilder.java:452) ... 4 more In my program, i can replace "gs" with: "java", "mvn", "svn" and it works. But "gs" does not. It's only in eclipse I have this problem. Any ideas, on what I need to do to resolve this issue?

  • Dynamic Linq Property Converting to Sql

    - by Matthew Hood
    I am trying to understand dynamic linq and expression trees. Very basically trying to do an equals supplying the column and value as strings. Here is what I have so far private IQueryable<tblTest> filterTest(string column, string value) { TestDataContext db = new TestDataContext(); // The IQueryable data to query. IQueryable<tblTest> queryableData = db.tblTests.AsQueryable(); // Compose the expression tree that represents the parameter to the predicate. ParameterExpression pe = Expression.Parameter(typeof(tblTest), "item"); Expression left = Expression.Property(pe, column); Expression right = Expression.Constant(value); Expression e1 = Expression.Equal(left, right); MethodCallExpression whereCallExpression = Expression.Call( typeof(Queryable), "Where", new Type[] { queryableData.ElementType }, queryableData.Expression, Expression.Lambda<Func<tblTest, bool>>(e1, new ParameterExpression[] { pe })); // Create an executable query from the expression tree. IQueryable<tblTest> results = queryableData.Provider.CreateQuery<tblTest>(whereCallExpression); return results; } That works fine for columns in the DB. But fails for properties in my code eg public partial class tblTest { public string name_test { get { return name; } } } Giving an error cannot be that it cannot be converted into SQL. I have tried rewriting the property as a Expression<Func but with no luck, how can I convert simple properties so they can be used with linq in this dynamic way? Many Thanks

  • Updating a Minimum spanning tree when a new edge is inserted

    - by Lynette
    Hello, I've been presented the following problem in University: Let G = (V, E) be an (undirected) graph with costs ce = 0 on the edges e € E. Assume you are given a minimum-cost spanning tree T in G. Now assume that a new edge is added to G, connecting two nodes v, tv € V with cost c. a) Give an efficient algorithm to test if T remains the minimum-cost spanning tree with the new edge added to G (but not to the tree T). Make your algorithm run in time O(|E|). Can you do it in O(|V|) time? Please note any assumptions you make about what data structure is used to represent the tree T and the graph G. b)Suppose T is no longer the minimum-cost spanning tree. Give a linear-time algorithm (time O(|E|)) to update the tree T to the new minimum-cost spanning tree. This is the solution I found: Let e1=(a,b) the new edge added Find in T the shortest path from a to b (BFS) if e1 is the most expensive edge in the cycle then T remains the MST else T is not the MST It seems to work but i can easily make this run in O(|V|) time, while the problem asks O(|E|) time. Am i missing something? By the way we are authorized to ask for help from anyone so I'm not cheating :D Thanks in advance

    Hi..I just wanna create a text file into phone memory and have to read its content to display.Now i created a text file.But its not present in the path data/data/package-name/file name.txt & it didn't display the content on emulator. My code is.. public class PhonememAct extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); TextView tv=(TextView)findViewById(R.id.tv); FileOutputStream fos = null; try { fos = openFileOutput("Test.txt", Context.MODE_PRIVATE); } catch (FileNotFoundException e2) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e2.printStackTrace(); } try { fos.write("Hai..".getBytes()); } catch (IOException e1) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e1.printStackTrace(); } try { fos.close(); } catch (IOException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } FileInputStream fis = null; try { fis = openFileInput("Test.txt"); } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } int c; try { while((c=fis.read())!=-1) { tv.setText(c); setContentView(tv); //k += (char)c; } } catch (IOException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } try { fis.close(); } catch (IOException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } } } Thanks in adv.

  • volatile keyword seems to be useless?

    - by Finbarr
    import java.util.concurrent.CountDownLatch; import java.util.concurrent.atomic.AtomicInteger; public class Main implements Runnable { private final CountDownLatch cdl1 = new CountDownLatch(NUM_THREADS); private volatile int bar = 0; private AtomicInteger count = new AtomicInteger(0); private static final int NUM_THREADS = 25; public static void main(String[] args) { Main main = new Main(); for(int i = 0; i < NUM_THREADS; i++) new Thread(main).start(); } public void run() { int i = count.incrementAndGet(); cdl1.countDown(); try { cdl1.await(); } catch (InterruptedException e1) { e1.printStackTrace(); } bar = i; if(bar != i) System.out.println("Bar not equal to i"); else System.out.println("Bar equal to i"); } } Each Thread enters the run method and acquires a unique, thread confined, int variable i by getting a value from the AtomicInteger called count. Each Thread then awaits the CountDownLatch called cdl1 (when the last Thread reaches the latch, all Threads are released). When the latch is released each thread attempts to assign their confined i value to the shared, volatile, int called bar. I would expect every Thread except one to print out "Bar not equal to i", but every Thread prints "Bar equal to i". Eh, wtf does volatile actually do if not this?

  • Cast object to interface when created via reflection

    - by Al
    I'm trying some stuff out in Android and I'm stuck at when trying to cast a class in another .apk to my interface. I have the interface and various classes in other .apks that implement that interface. I find the other classes using PackageManager's query methods and use Application#createPackageContext() to get the classloader for that context. I then load the class, create a new instance and try to cast it to my interface, which I know it definitely implements. When I try to cast, it throws a class cast exception. I tried various things like loading the interface first, using Class#asSubclass, etc, none of which work. Class#getInterfaces() shows the interface is implemented. My code is below: PackageManager pm = getPackageManager(); List<ResolveInfo> lr = pm.queryIntentServices(new Intent("com.example.some.action"), 0); ArrayList<MyInterface> list = new ArrayList<MyInterface>(); for (ResolveInfo r : lr) { try { Context c = getApplication().createPackageContext(r.serviceInfo.packageName, Context.CONTEXT_IGNORE_SECURITY | Context.CONTEXT_INCLUDE_CODE); ClassLoader cl = c.getClassLoader(); String className = r.serviceInfo.name; if (className != null) { try { Class<?> cls = cl.loadClass(className); Object o = cls.newInstance(); if (o instanceof MyInterface) { //fails list.add((MyInterface) o); } } catch (ClassNotFoundException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } // some exceptions removed for readability } } catch (NameNotFoundException e1) { e1.printStackTrace(); }

  • Doubts in executable and relocatable object file

    - by bala1486
    Hello, I have written a simple Hello World program. #include <stdio.h> int main() { printf("Hello World"); return 0; } I wanted to understand how the relocatable object file and executable file look like. The object file corresponding to the main function is 0000000000000000 <main>: 0: 55 push %rbp 1: 48 89 e5 mov %rsp,%rbp 4: bf 00 00 00 00 mov $0x0,%edi 9: b8 00 00 00 00 mov $0x0,%eax e: e8 00 00 00 00 callq 13 <main+0x13> 13: b8 00 00 00 00 mov $0x0,%eax 18: c9 leaveq 19: c3 retq Here the function call for printf is callq 13. One thing i don't understand is why is it 13. That means call the function at adresss 13, right??. 13 has the next instruction, right?? Please explain me what does this mean?? The executable code corresponding to main is 00000000004004cc <main>: 4004cc: 55 push %rbp 4004cd: 48 89 e5 mov %rsp,%rbp 4004d0: bf dc 05 40 00 mov $0x4005dc,%edi 4004d5: b8 00 00 00 00 mov $0x0,%eax 4004da: e8 e1 fe ff ff callq 4003c0 <printf@plt> 4004df: b8 00 00 00 00 mov $0x0,%eax 4004e4: c9 leaveq 4004e5: c3 retq Here it is callq 4003c0. But the binary instruction is e8 e1 fe ff ff. There is nothing that corresponds to 4003c0. What is that i am getting wrong? Thanks. Bala

Lets say I have 3 numpy arrays, A1,A2,A3, and 3 floats, c1,c2,c3 and I'd like to evaluate B = A1*c1+ A2*c2+ A3*c3 will numpy compute this as for example, E1 = A1*c1 E2 = A2*c2 E3 = A3*c3 D1 = E1+E2 B = D1+E3 or is it more clever than that? In c++ I had a neat way to abstract this kind of operation. I defined series of general 'LC' template functions, LC for linear combination like: template<class T,class D> void LC( T & R, T & L0,D C0, T & L1,D C1, T & L2,D C2) { R = L0*C0 +L1*C1 +L2*C2; } and then specialized this for various types, so for instance, for an array the code looked like for (int i=0; i<L0.length; i++) R.array[i] = L0.array[i]*C0 + L1.array[i]*C1 + L2.array[i]*C2; thus avoiding having to create new intermediate arrays. This may look messy but it worked really well. I could do something similar in python, but I'm not sure if its nescesary. Thanks in advance for any insight. -nick

  • Different results between Android Geocoder and Google Geocoding web service

    - by user3571822
    I am creating an Android application and I need to use the geolocation. I have started by using the Geocoder API from Android (android.location.geocoder) but it causes some issues (timed out waiting for response from server) which seem to be common according to what I have read. To make my application work when this kind of error occurs, I use the Geocoding web service. Now, the application works every time. The problem is that the results returned by the geocoder from API and the geocoder from the web service are not the same. For example the web service returns only 3 addresses with only city name and country whereas the geocoding from the API returns about 8 addresses with the feature name, the thoroughfare, the locality... The question is: is there a way to make the results from the web service exactly the same than the ones from the API? EDIT Here is my MainGeocoder class: public class MainGeocoder { private Geocoder geocoderAPI; private GeocoderRest geocoderRest; public MainGeocoder(Context context) { geocoderAPI = new Geocoder(context); geocoderRest = new GeocoderRest(context); } public List<Address> getFromLocationName(String search, int maxResults) { List<Address> addresses; try { addresses = geocoderAPI.getFromLocationName(search, maxResults); return addresses; } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); try { addresses = geocoderRest.getFromLocationName(search, maxResults); return addresses; } catch (IOException e1) { return null; } catch (LimitExceededException e1) { return null; } } } } It basically tries to get the list of addresses from the API Geocoder. If an IO exception is thrown it gets this list from the web service by using the GeocoderRest class which has been pasted from here: http://stackoverflow.com/a/15117087/3571822

  • Handling Denormalized Schema with Eclipselink

    - by iamrohitbanga
    Hello All I have a denormalized table containing employee information. The fields are employee id, name and department name. The primary key is a composite one consisting of all three fields. An employee can belong to multiple departments. I want to read/write the objects in the table using the Eclipselink Dynamic Persistence API (which is infact a wrapper on top of JPA descriptors etc.). Example Data: 1 e1 dep1 2 e1 dep2 3 e2 dep1 4 e2 dep3 5 e3 dep1 5 e3 dep2 5 e3 dep3 A normal ReadAllQuery (select query) on the table returns a DynamicEntity corresponding to each row in the table. However I want to club all entities based on the emp id and return all the departments he belongs to as a list. I can merge the entities after retrieving them but if I can use some Eclipselink feature out of the box then it would be better. One way to do the read is the following: I create two dynamic types corresponding to employee: Having id,name as the primary key Having id, department as the primary key, I create a OneToManyMapping from the first type to the second one. Then when I query the first type it does return the departments to which employee belongs as a list of DynamicEntity of the second type. This satisfies the read scenario. Is there a better way of doing this? Is this inherently supported by Eclipselink or JPA? I cannot get the same dynamic type configuration working for the write scenario. This is because when I write the changes using the writeObject method of UnitOfWork, it generates insert queries which enter the following entries in the table id name department 102 emp_102 102 st 102 dep_102 102 dep_102 102 dep_102 instead of: id name department 102 emp_102 st 102 emp_102 dep_102 102 emp_102 dep_102 102 emp_102 dep_102 Is there any way I can get write to work with this schema using eclipselink? I want to avoid doing the heavy lifting of merging the rows for such a denormalized schema or generating each row before doing a write. Is there no clean way of doing this using Eclipselink or JPA? Thanks in Advance.

  • how am I supposed to call the function?

    - by user1816768
    I wrote a program which tells you knight's movement (chess). For example if I wanted to know all possible moves, I'd input: possibilites("F4") and I'd get ['D3', 'D5', 'E2', 'E6', 'G2', 'G6', 'H3', 'H5'] as a result, ok I did that, next, I had to write a function in which you input two fields and if those fields are legal, you'd get True and if they're not you'd get False(I had to use the previous function). For example: legal("F4","D3") >>>True code: def legal(field1,field2): c=possibilities(field1) if field1 and field2 in a: return True return False I'm having a problem with the following function which I have to write: I have to put in path of the knight and my function has to tell me if it's legal path, I'm obliged to use the previous function. for example: >>> legal_way(["F3", "E1", "G2", "H4", "F5"]) True >>> legal_way(["F3", "E1", "G3", "H5"]) False >>> legal_way(["B4"]) True I know I have to loop through the list and put first and second item on it in legal(field1,field2) and if it's false, everything is false, but if it's true I have to continue to the end, and this has to work also if I have only one field. I'm stuck, what to do? def legal_way(way): a=len(way) for i in range(0,a-2): if a==1: return true else if legal(way[i],way[i+1]: return True return False and I get True or index out of range

  • Memory not being returned after function python call

    - by Dan
    I've got a function which does a parse of a sentence by building up a big chart. For some reason, Python holds on to whatever memory was allocated during that function call. That is, I do best = translate(sentence, grammar) and somehow my memory goes up and stays up. Here is the function: from string import join from heapq import nsmallest, heappush def translate(f, g): words = f.split() chart = {} for col in range(len(words)): for row in reversed(range(0,col+1)): # get rules for this subspan rules = g[join(words[row:col+1], ' ')] # ensure there's at least one rule on the diagonal if not rules and row==col: rules=[(0.0, join(words[row:col+1]))] # pick up rules below & to the left for k in range(row,col): if (row,k) and (k+1,col) in chart: for (w1, e1) in chart[row, k]: for (w2, e2) in chart[k+1,col]: heappush(rules, (w1+w2, e1+' '+e2)) # add all rules to chart chart[row,col] = nsmallest(MAX_TRANSLATIONS, rules) (w, best) = chart[0, len(words)-1][0] return best EDIT: Using Python 2.7 on OS X. The grammar g is just a dictionary from strings to heaps, e.g.: g['et'] [(1.05, 'and'), (6.92, ', and'), (9.95, 'and ,'), (11.17, 'and to')] EDIT: If you want to run the code, try the sentence "Cela est difficile" with the following grammar: >>> g['cela'] [(8.28, 'this'), (11.21, 'it'), (11.57, 'that'), (15.26, 'this ,')] >>> g['est'] [(2.69, 'is'), (10.21, 'is ,'), (11.15, 'has'), (11.28, ', is')] >>> g['difficile'] [(2.01, 'difficult'), (10.08, 'hard'), (10.19, 'difficult ,'), (10.57, 'a difficult')]

  • Android onFling not responding

    - by Kevin Moore
    I am new to android first of all so think of any newbie mistakes first I am trying to add a fling function in my code. public class MainGamePanel extends SurfaceView implements SurfaceHolder.Callback, OnGestureListener { private MainThread thread; private Droid droid; private Droid droid2; private static final String TAG = gameView.class.getSimpleName(); private GestureDetector gestureScanner; public MainGamePanel(Context context){ super(context); getHolder().addCallback(this); droid = new Droid(BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), R.drawable.playerbox2), 270, 300); droid2 = new Droid(BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), R.drawable.playerbox2), 50, 300); thread = new MainThread(getHolder(), this); setFocusable(true); gestureScanner = new GestureDetector(this); } public boolean onTouchEvent(MotionEvent event){ return gestureScanner.onTouchEvent(event); } @Override protected void onDraw(Canvas canvas){ canvas.drawColor(Color.BLACK); droid.draw(canvas); droid2.draw(canvas); } @Override public boolean onFling(MotionEvent e1, MotionEvent e2, float velocityX, float velocityY) { droid.setX(50); droid.setY(50); Log.d(TAG, "Coords: x=" + e1.getX() + ",y=" + e2.getY()); return true; } @Override public boolean onDown(MotionEvent e) { droid2.setX((int)e.getX()); droid2.setY((int)e.getY()); Log.d(TAG, "Coords: x=" + e.getX() + ",y=" + e.getY()); return false; } I got the gestureListener to work with: onDown, onLongPress, and onShowPress. But i can't get any response with onFling, onSingleTapUp, and onScroll. What mistake am I making? does it have to do with views? I don't know what code would be useful to see.... so any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank You!

  • Elfsign Object Signing on Solaris

    - by danx
    Elfsign Object Signing on Solaris Don't let this happen to you—use elfsign! Solaris elfsign(1) is a command that signs and verifies ELF format executables. That includes not just executable programs (such as ls or cp), but other ELF format files including libraries (such as libnvpair.so) and kernel modules (such as autofs). Elfsign has been available since Solaris 10 and ELF format files distributed with Solaris, since Solaris 10, are signed by either Sun Microsystems or its successor, Oracle Corporation. When an ELF file is signed, elfsign adds a new section the ELF file, .SUNW_signature, that contains a RSA public key signature and other information about the signer. That is, the algorithm used, algorithm OID, signer CN/OU, and time stamp. The signature section can later be verified by elfsign or other software by matching the signature in the file agains the ELF file contents (excluding the signature). ELF executable files may also be signed by a 3rd-party or by the customer. This is useful for verifying the origin and authenticity of executable files installed on a system. The 3rd-party or customer public key certificate should be installed in /etc/certs/ to allow verification by elfsign. For currently-released versions of Solaris, only cryptographic framework plugin libraries are verified by Solaris. However, all ELF files may be verified by the elfsign command at any time. Elfsign Algorithms Elfsign signatures are created by taking a digest of the ELF section contents, then signing the digest with RSA. To verify, one takes a digest of ELF file and compares with the expected digest that's computed from the signature and RSA public key. Originally elfsign took a MD5 digest of a SHA-1 digest of the ELF file sections, then signed the resulting digest with RSA. In Solaris 11.1 then Solaris 11.1 SRU 7 (5/2013), the elfsign crypto algorithms available have been expanded to keep up with evolving cryptography. The following table shows the available elfsign algorithms: Elfsign Algorithm Solaris Release Comments elfsign sign -F rsa_md5_sha1   S10, S11.0, S11.1 Default for S10. Not recommended* elfsign sign -F rsa_sha1 S11.1 Default for S11.1. Not recommended elfsign sign -F rsa_sha256 S11.1 patch SRU7+   Recommended ___ *Most or all CAs do not accept MD5 CSRs and do not issue MD5 certs due to MD5 hash collision problems. RSA Key Length. I recommend using RSA-2048 key length with elfsign is RSA-2048 as the best balance between a long expected "life time", interoperability, and performance. RSA-2048 keys have an expected lifetime through 2030 (and probably beyond). For details, see Recommendation for Key Management: Part 1: General, NIST Publication SP 800-57 part 1 (rev. 3, 7/2012, PDF), tables 2 and 4 (pp. 64, 67). Step 1: create or obtain a key and cert The first step in using elfsign is to obtain a key and cert from a public Certificate Authority (CA), or create your own self-signed key and cert. I'll briefly explain both methods. Obtaining a Certificate from a CA To obtain a cert from a CA, such as Verisign, Thawte, or Go Daddy (to name a few random examples), you create a private key and a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) file and send it to the CA, following the instructions of the CA on their website. They send back a signed public key certificate. The public key cert, along with the private key you created is used by elfsign to sign an ELF file. The public key cert is distributed with the software and is used by elfsign to verify elfsign signatures in ELF files. You need to request a RSA "Class 3 public key certificate", which is used for servers and software signing. Elfsign uses RSA and we recommend RSA-2048 keys. The private key and CSR can be generated with openssl(1) or pktool(1) on Solaris. Here's a simple example that uses pktool to generate a private RSA_2048 key and a CSR for sending to a CA: $ pktool gencsr keystore=file format=pem outcsr=MYCSR.p10 \ subject="CN=canineswworks.com,OU=Canine SW object signing" \ outkey=MYPRIVATEKEY.key $ openssl rsa -noout -text -in MYPRIVATEKEY.key Private-Key: (2048 bit) modulus: 00:d2:ef:42:f2:0b:8c:96:9f:45:32:fc:fe:54:94: . . . That is, protect the key to protect against unauthorized signatures by others. One method is to use a PIN-protected PKCS#11 keystore. The private key you generate should be stored in a secure manner, such as in a PKCS#11 keystore using pktool(1). Otherwise others can sign your signature. Other secure key storage mechanisms include a SCA-6000 crypto card, a USB thumb drive stored in a locked area, a dedicated server with restricted access, Oracle Key Manager (OKM), or some combination of these. I also recommend secure backup of the private key. Here's an example of generating a private key protected in the PKCS#11 keystore, and a CSR. $ pktool setpin # use if PIN not set yet Enter token passphrase: changeme Create new passphrase: Re-enter new passphrase: Passphrase changed. $ pktool gencsr keystore=pkcs11 label=MYPRIVATEKEY \ format=pem outcsr=MYCSR.p10 \ subject="CN=canineswworks.com,OU=Canine SW object signing" $ pktool list keystore=pkcs11 Enter PIN for Sun Software PKCS#11 softtoken: Found 1 asymmetric public keys. Key #1 - RSA public key: MYPRIVATEKEY Here's another example that uses openssl instead of pktool to generate a private key and CSR: $ openssl genrsa -out cert.key 2048 $ openssl req -new -key cert.key -out MYCSR.p10 Self-Signed Cert You can use openssl or pktool to create a private key and a self-signed public key certificate. A self-signed cert is useful for development, testing, and internal use. The private key created should be stored in a secure manner, as mentioned above. The following example creates a private key, MYSELFSIGNED.key, and a public key cert, MYSELFSIGNED.pem, using pktool and displays the contents with the openssl command. $ pktool gencert keystore=file format=pem serial=0xD06F00D lifetime=20-year \ keytype=rsa hash=sha256 outcert=MYSELFSIGNED.pem outkey=MYSELFSIGNED.key \ subject="O=Canine Software Works, OU=Self-signed CA, CN=canineswworks.com" $ pktool list keystore=file objtype=cert infile=MYSELFSIGNED.pem Found 1 certificates. 1. The next step is to sign one or more objects with your private key and cert. Here's a simple example that creates an object file, signs, verifies, and lists the contents of the ELF signature. $ echo '#include <stdio.h>\nint main(){printf("Hello\\n");}'>hello.c $ make hello cc -o hello hello.c $ elfsign verify -v -c MYSELFSIGNED.pem -e hello elfsign: no signature found in hello. $ elfsign sign -F rsa_sha256 -v -k MYSELFSIGNED.key -c MYSELFSIGNED.pem -e hello elfsign: hello signed successfully. format: rsa_sha256. signer: O=Canine Software Works, OU=Self-signed CA, CN=canineswworks.com. signed on: October 17, 2013 04:22:49 PM PDT. $ elfsign list -f format -e hello rsa_sha256 $ elfsign list -f signer -e hello O=Canine Software Works, OU=Self-signed CA, CN=canineswworks.com $ elfsign list -f time -e hello October 17, 2013 04:22:49 PM PDT $ elfsign verify -v -c MYSELFSIGNED.key -e hello elfsign: verification of hello failed. format: rsa_sha256. signer: O=Canine Software Works, OU=Self-signed CA, CN=canineswworks.com. signed on: October 17, 2013 04:22:49 PM PDT. Signing using the pkcs11 keystore To sign the ELF file using a private key in the secure pkcs11 keystore, replace "-K MYSELFSIGNED.key" in the "elfsign sign" command line with "-T MYPRIVATEKEY", where MYPRIVATKEY is the pkcs11 token label. Step 3: Install the cert and test on another system Just signing the object isn't enough. You need to copy or install the cert and the signed ELF file(s) on another system to test that the signature is OK. Your public key cert should be installed in /etc/certs. Use elfsign verify to verify the signature. Elfsign verify checks each cert in /etc/certs until it finds one that matches the elfsign signature in the file. If one isn't found, the verification fails. Here's an example: $ su Password: # rm /etc/certs/MYSELFSIGNED.key # cp MYSELFSIGNED.pem /etc/certs # exit $ elfsign verify -v hello elfsign: verification of hello passed. format: rsa_sha256. signer: O=Canine Software Works, OU=Self-signed CA, CN=canineswworks.com. signed on: October 17, 2013 04:24:20 PM PDT. After testing, package your cert along with your ELF object to allow elfsign verification after your cert and object are installed or copied. Under the Hood: elfsign verification Here's the steps taken to verify a ELF file signed with elfsign. The steps to sign the file are similar except the private key exponent is used instead of the public key exponent and the .SUNW_signature section is written to the ELF file instead of being read from the file. Generate a digest (SHA-256) of the ELF file sections. This digest uses all ELF sections loaded in memory, but excludes the ELF header, the .SUNW_signature section, and the symbol table Extract the RSA signature (RSA-2048) from the .SUNW_signature section Extract the RSA public key modulus and public key exponent (65537) from the public key cert Calculate the expected digest as follows:     signaturepublicKeyExponent % publicKeyModulus Strip the PKCS#1 padding (most significant bytes) from the above. The padding is 0x00, 0x01, 0xff, 0xff, . . ., 0xff, 0x00. If the actual digest == expected digest, the ELF file is verified (OK). Further Information elfsign(1), pktool(1), and openssl(1) man pages. • Android - HorizontalScrollView within ScrollView Touch Handling

    - by Joel
    Hi, I have a ScrollView that surrounds my entire layout so that the entire screen is scrollable. The first element I have in this ScrollView is a HorizontalScrollView block that has features that can be scrolled through horizontally. I've added an ontouchlistener to the horizontalscrollview to handle touch events and force the view to "snap" to the closest image on the ACTION_UP event. So the effect I'm going for is like the stock android homescreen where you can scroll from one to the other and it snaps to one screen when you lift your finger. This all works great except for one problem: I need to swipe left to right almost perfectly horizontally for an ACTION_UP to ever register. If I swipe vertically in the very least (which I think many people tend to do on their phones when swiping side to side), I will receive an ACTION_CANCEL instead of an ACTION_UP. My theory is that this is because the horizontalscrollview is within a scrollview, and the scrollview is hijacking the vertical touch to allow for vertical scrolling. How can I disable the touch events for the scrollview from just within my horizontal scrollview, but still allow for normal vertical scrolling elsewhere in the scrollview? Here's a sample of my code: public class HomeFeatureLayout extends HorizontalScrollView { private ArrayList<ListItem> items = null; private GestureDetector gestureDetector; View.OnTouchListener gestureListener; private static final int SWIPE_MIN_DISTANCE = 5; private static final int SWIPE_THRESHOLD_VELOCITY = 300; private int activeFeature = 0; public HomeFeatureLayout(Context context, ArrayList<ListItem> items){ super(context); setLayoutParams(new LayoutParams(LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT)); setFadingEdgeLength(0); this.setHorizontalScrollBarEnabled(false); this.setVerticalScrollBarEnabled(false); LinearLayout internalWrapper = new LinearLayout(context); internalWrapper.setLayoutParams(new LayoutParams(LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT)); internalWrapper.setOrientation(LinearLayout.HORIZONTAL); addView(internalWrapper); this.items = items; for(int i = 0; i< items.size();i++){ LinearLayout featureLayout = (LinearLayout) View.inflate(this.getContext(),R.layout.homefeature,null); TextView header = (TextView) featureLayout.findViewById(R.id.featureheader); ImageView image = (ImageView) featureLayout.findViewById(R.id.featureimage); TextView title = (TextView) featureLayout.findViewById(R.id.featuretitle); title.setTag(items.get(i).GetLinkURL()); TextView date = (TextView) featureLayout.findViewById(R.id.featuredate); header.setText("FEATURED"); Image cachedImage = new Image(this.getContext(), items.get(i).GetImageURL()); image.setImageDrawable(cachedImage.getImage()); title.setText(items.get(i).GetTitle()); date.setText(items.get(i).GetDate()); internalWrapper.addView(featureLayout); } gestureDetector = new GestureDetector(new MyGestureDetector()); setOnTouchListener(new View.OnTouchListener() { @Override public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) { if (gestureDetector.onTouchEvent(event)) { return true; } else if(event.getAction() == MotionEvent.ACTION_UP || event.getAction() == MotionEvent.ACTION_CANCEL ){ int scrollX = getScrollX(); int featureWidth = getMeasuredWidth(); activeFeature = ((scrollX + (featureWidth/2))/featureWidth); int scrollTo = activeFeature*featureWidth; smoothScrollTo(scrollTo, 0); return true; } else{ return false; } } }); } class MyGestureDetector extends SimpleOnGestureListener { @Override public boolean onFling(MotionEvent e1, MotionEvent e2, float velocityX, float velocityY) { try { //right to left if(e1.getX() - e2.getX() > SWIPE_MIN_DISTANCE && Math.abs(velocityX) > SWIPE_THRESHOLD_VELOCITY) { activeFeature = (activeFeature < (items.size() - 1))? activeFeature + 1:items.size() -1; smoothScrollTo(activeFeature*getMeasuredWidth(), 0); return true; } //left to right else if (e2.getX() - e1.getX() > SWIPE_MIN_DISTANCE && Math.abs(velocityX) > SWIPE_THRESHOLD_VELOCITY) { activeFeature = (activeFeature > 0)? activeFeature - 1:0; smoothScrollTo(activeFeature*getMeasuredWidth(), 0); return true; } } catch (Exception e) { // nothing } return false; } } }

  • Android Mediaplayer: setDataSource issue for downloaded media file

    - by Erik
    I have an application that will record and play audio files. Some of the audio files are downloaded using simple standard http downloads using httpclient. It worked like a charm for a long time. Now all of a sudden I cannot play the files I download. It fails with this stack. I store the files on the SDCard and I experience the problem both on a handset and a USB connected device. I have checked that the downloaded file is cool on the server, and I can play it without any issues. These are the code snippets I use ( I know that recordingFile is a valid path for the file). // inside the activity class private void playRecording() throws IOException{ File recordingFile = new File(recordingFileName); FileInputStream recordingInputStream = new FileInputStream(recordingFile); audioMediaPlayer.playAudio(recordingInputStream); } Here is the media player code: // inside my media player class which handles the recordings public void playAudio(FileInputStream audioInputStream) throws IOException { mediaPlayer.reset(); mediaPlayer.setDataSource(audioInputStream.getFD()); mediaPlayer.prepare(); mediaPlayer.start(); } Here is the exception: E/MediaPlayerService( 555): offset error E/MediaPlayer( 786): Unable to to create media player W/System.err( 786): java.io.IOException: setDataSourceFD failed.: status=0x80000000 W/System.err( 786): at android.media.MediaPlayer.setDataSource(Native Method) W/System.err( 786): at android.media.MediaPlayer.setDataSource(MediaPlayer.java:632) W/System.err( 786): at net.xxx.xxx.AudioMediaPlayer.playAudio(AudioMediaPlayer.java:69) W/System.err( 786): at net.xxx.xxx.Downloads.playRecording(Downloads.java:299) W/System.err( 786): at net.xxx.xxx.Downloads.access$0(Downloads.java:294) W/System.err( 786): at net.xxx.xxx.Downloads$1.onClick(Downloads.java:135) I have tried seeking some answer of the offset error, but not really clear what this issue might be. PS I download the file with this code: public FileOutputStream executeHttpGet(FileOutputStream fileOutputStream) throws ClientProtocolException, IOException{ try { // Execute HTTP Post Request httpResponse = httpClient.execute(httpPost, localContext); int status = httpResponse.getStatusLine().getStatusCode(); // we assume that the response body contains the error message if (status != HttpStatus.SC_OK) { ByteArrayOutputStream ostream = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); httpResponse.getEntity().writeTo(ostream); fileOutputStream = null; } else { InputStream content = httpResponse.getEntity().getContent(); byte[] buffer = new byte[1024]; int len = 0; while ( (len = content.read(buffer)) > 0 ) { fileOutputStream.write(buffer,0, len); } fileOutputStream.close(); content.close(); // this will also close the connection } } catch (ClientProtocolException e1) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e1.printStackTrace(); fileOutputStream = null; } catch (IOException e2) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e2.printStackTrace(); fileOutputStream = null; } return fileOutputStream; }

  • Sharing transactions between web applications, which run in the same cluster

    - by pihentagy
    We (will) have the following architecture: Base.war will be a self-contained spring-hibernate application All applications will run under Glassfish, and may be clustered E1.war will sit on top of Base.war, extending it's functionality There could be further extensions (E2.war, E3.war, …) sitting on top of Base.war Either wars could start a transaction, and transactions could span between wars Without shutting down Base.war, or any other Ex.war, it should be possible to upgrade an Ey.war Is there a solution for this with spring-hibernate-glassfish environment?

  • Run bat file in Java and wait 2

    - by Savvas Dalkitsis
    This is a followup question to my other question : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2434125/run-bat-file-in-java-and-wait The reason i am posting this as a separate question is that the one i already asked was answered correctly. From some research i did my problem is unique to my case so i decided to create a new question. Please go read that question before continuing with this one as they are closely related. Running the proposed code blocks the program at the waitFor invocation. After some research i found that the waitFor method blocks if your process has output that needs to be proccessed so you should first empty the output stream and the error stream. I did those things but my method still blocks. I then found a suggestion to simply loop while waiting the exitValue method to return the exit value of the process and handle the exception thrown if it is not, pausing for a brief moment as well so as not to consume all the CPU. I did this: import java.io.BufferedReader; import java.io.IOException; import java.io.InputStreamReader; public class Test { public static void main(String[] args) { try { Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec( "cmd /k start SQLScriptsToRun.bat" + " -UuserName -Ppassword" + " projectName"); final BufferedReader input = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream())); final BufferedReader error = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(p.getErrorStream())); new Thread(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { try { while (input.readLine()!=null) {} } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } }).start(); new Thread(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { try { while (error.readLine()!=null) {} } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } }).start(); int i = 0; boolean finished = false; while (!finished) { try { i = p.exitValue(); finished = true; } catch (IllegalThreadStateException e) { e.printStackTrace(); try { Thread.sleep(500); } catch (InterruptedException e1) { e1.printStackTrace(); } } } System.out.println(i); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } but my process will not end! I keep getting this error: java.lang.IllegalThreadStateException: process has not exited Any ideas as to why my process will not exit? Or do you have any libraries to suggest that handle executing batch files properly and wait until the execution is finished?
