• Sort each standalone line alphabetically

  I want to sort some items in alphabetic order, but in a very specifc way. I have, for example, the following list, each item separated by comma: monkeys, dogs, cats pineapple, banana, orange yellow, red, blue, green silver, gold, platinum delphi, java, c++, visual basic I want to sort each line alphabetically, WITHOUT changing line order. My desired result would be: cats, dogs, monkeys banana, orange, pineapple blue, green, red, yellow gold, platinum, silver c++, delphi, java, visual basic My target list has got 3000+ lines, so it should be an automated process. • Binary serialization/de-serialization in C++ and C#

  Hello. I am working on a distributed application which has two components. One is written in standard C++ (not managed C++) and the other one is written in C#. Both are communicating via a message bus. I have a situation in which I need to pass objects from C++ to C# application and for this I need to serialize those objects in C++ and de-serialize them in C# (something like marshaling/un-marshaling in .NET). I need to perform this serialization in binary and not in XML (due to performance reasons). I have used Boost.Serialization to do this when both ends were implemented in C++ but now that I have a .NET application on one end, Boost.Serialization is not a viable solution. I am looking for a solution that allows me to perform (de)serialization across C++ and .NET boundary i.e., cross platform binary serialization. I know I can implement the (de)serialization code in a C++ dll and use P/Invoke in the .NET application, but I want to keep that as a last resort. Also, I want to know if I use some standard like gzip, will that be efficient? Are there any other alternatives to gzip? What are the pros/cons of them? Thanks

  Take these two lists: List 1 Red Green Blue List 2 Brown Red Blue Purple Orange I'm looking for a way to combine these lists together to produce: List 3 Brown Red Green Blue Purple Orange I think the basic rules are these: 1) Insert on top the list any row falling before the first common row (e.g., Brown comes before the first common row, Red); 2) Insert items between rows if both lists have two items (e.g., List 1 inserts Green between Red and Blue); and 3) Insert rows on the bottom if the there's no "between-ness" found in 2 (e.g., List 2 inserts Orange at the bottom). The lists are stored in a DataTable. I'm guessing I'll have to switch between them while iterating, but I'm having a hard time figuring out a method of combining the rows. • When does IE7 recompute styles? Doesn't work reliably when a class is added to the body.

  I have an interesting problem here. I'm using a class on the element as a switch to drive a fair amount of layout behavior on my site. If the class is applied, certain things happen, and if the class isn't applied, they don't happen. The relevant CSS is roughly like this: .rightSide { display:none; } .showCommentsRight .rightSide { display:block; width:50%; } .showCommentsRight .leftSide { display:block; width:50%; } And the HTML: <body class="showCommentsRight"> <div class="container"></div> <div class="leftSide"></div> <div class="rightSide"></div> </div> <div class="container"></div> <div class="leftSide"></div> <div class="rightSide"></div> </div> <div class="container"></div> <div class="leftSide"></div> <div class="rightSide"></div> </div> </body> I've simplified things but this is essentially the method. The whole page changes layout (hiding the right side in three different areas) when the flag is set on the body. This works in Firefox and IE8. It does not work in IE8 in compatibility mode. What is fascinating is that if you sit there and refresh the page, the results can vary. It will pick a different section's right side to show. Sometimes it will show only the top section's right side, sometimes it will show the middle. I have tried a validator (to look for malformed html), double css formatting, and making sure my IE7 hack sheet wasn't having an effect. So my question is: * Is there a way that this behavior can be made reliable? * When does IE7 decide to re-do styling? Thanks everyone.

• C# pulling out columns from combobox text

  What i have is four comboboxes and two files. If the column matches the combobox i need to write it out to a file but it has to appened with the second combobox. So for example Combobox1: Apple | Orange Combobox2: Pineapple | Plum I have selected Apple Plum I need to search threw a text file and find whatever columns is Apple or Plum: Orange|Pear|Peach|Turnip|Monkey|Apple|Grape|Plum and then i need to write out just the columns Apple|Plum to a new text file. Any help would be awesome! • Rhino Mocks Partial Mock

  I am trying to test the logic from some existing classes. It is not possible to re-factor the classes at present as they are very complex and in production. What I want to do is create a mock object and test a method that internally calls another method that is very hard to mock. So I want to just set a behaviour for the secondary method call. But when I setup the behaviour for the method, the code of the method is invoked and fails. Am I missing something or is this just not possible to test without re-factoring the class? • Model Binding to a List using non-sequential indexes. Can I access the index later?

  I'm following Phil's great tutorial on model binding to a list. I use input names like this: book[5804].title book[5804].author book[1234].title book[1234].author This works well and the data gets back to the model just fine, populating a list of books. What I'm looking for is a way to get access in the model to the index that was used to send the books. I'd like to get that number, "5804." This is because the index is of semantic importance. If I can access it, it saves me from setting another property on the object (book ID). Is there a way to see, either on the FormCollection or on the model after UpdateModel is called, what the index was when it was sent up?

  Hi, I am trying to publish to a users stream when they click a share button in my flash app that i have living in a tab on a fan fan. I basically have my swf embedded on a page that has a java script function that calls the facebook share dialogue. So if the user entered: "orange" it should match an entry "orange' in the dictionary. Now the catch is that the user can also enter a wildcard or series of wildcard characters like say "or__ge" which would also match "orange" The key requirements are: * this should be as fast as possible. * use the smallest amount of memory to achieve it. If the size of the word list was small I could use a string containing all the words and use regular expressions. however given that the word list could contain potentially hundreds of thousands of enteries I'm assuming this wouldn't work. So is some sort of 'tree' be the way to go for this...? Any thoughts or suggestions on this would be totally appreciated! Thanks in advance, Matt

  I'm trying to include a file (/wp-load.php) at the beginning of the /html/ directory. • Strange sound behavior

  First of all, sorry for the tittle. English isn't my native language, and I can't find a word to describe the strange behavior I'm getting here. In the most simple explanation, is like sound keeps going down and up again... Think in a kid with that old radios that have a circled volume button. Think like these kid keeps "turning" the volume button. That is the behavior I'm getting here. At first, I believed that it was a pulseaudio issue, but, it isn't. I followed the wiki part I think that should be my problem, but it didn't work. After that, as I'm using XFCE, I didn't really need pulseaudio, so I removed it and stays with a clean alsa, hopping that will fix my problem. Sweet mistake. It really looks like a kid looking for trouble. I believed it worked, and, suddenly, here is the same issue again. BTW: I have a full-upgraded testing system (yeah, I upgraded to testing hopping for new pulseaudio version which fix the issue), no pulseaudio at all, just xfce, started with startxfce. What can I do to fix this? It's extremely annoying... sometimes I just want to throw my laptop in the wall because of this. Any extra info you need, please, tell me.   Hey everyone, If my table looks like this: id | colA | colB | colC =========================== 1 | red | blue | yellow 2 | orange | red | red 3 | orange | blue | cyan What SELECT query do I run such that the results returned are: blue, cyan, orange, red, yellow Basically, I want to extract a collective list of distinct values across multiple columns and return them in alphabetical order. I am not concerned with performance optimization, because the results are being parsed to an XML file that will serve as a cache (database is hardly updated). So even a dirty solution would be fine.   I am struggling with the print in a table part of the question. So far I have managed to order the user inputted sentence alphabetically and count the number of times each word occurs. • Change highlighting of certain subviews in a UITableViewCell

  Is it possible to exclude certain subviews in a UITableViewCell from being highlighted or to change their highlight implementation? I added an orange warning label to the UITableViewCell for certain occassions and it highlights properly with the rest of the cell, which is good. However, when the cells stops being highlighted in an animated way, you first see the background of the warning label become white and then flash to orange. I would either like it to be excluded from being highlighted at all, or to change it's highlight implementation so it animates back to orange properly.

  I developed a web site to search a database of videos indexed by keywords. There are several keywords that are repeated like "kid" and "kids" or "children" I'd like that when users search for a keyword they will find also videos with similar keywords and keywords translation (ex. "kid" "kinder"). I was thinking about using an external dictionary, there's Google dictionary but it does not provide APIs. Have you got any idea on how can I do that? Thanks Giuseppe
