  Here's what I'd like to do: If a user goes to www.example.com/thislocation, I'd like to redirect to a particular script and give it "thislocation" as a parameter. So if a user navigated to www.example.com/thislocation, I'd like to redirect to www.example.com/cgi-bin/test.pl?parameter=thislocation, and similarily, if the user navigated to www.example.com/thatlocation, I'd like to redirect to www.example.com/cgi-bin/test.pl?parameter=thatlocation. Is this possible with Apache?

• Using (embedding?) wireshark in a C application for sniffing

  I'm writing a C/C++ application which needs (among other things) to sniff packets and save the output in a file. This file will be read and processed by wireshark after a few days, using a LUA script to do some other stuff. My question is for the sniffing part which must be provided by my application. I can see two ways to do this: 1) Fork the wireshark process in background (of course using the command line version) 2) Using wireshark as library: no forking but include stuff like "wireshark.h" and link against libwireshark.so, thus using function calls to do the sniffing. So far I haven't found any documentation about #2 and it seems that #1 is the "right way" to embed sniffing capabilities in my code. Do you think I'm doing he right thing? Does wireshark allow embedding as a library?

• Cannot convert parameter 1 from 'short *' to 'int *' [closed]

  I'm trying to learn pointers and since I recently learned that short int takes up less memory [2 bytes as apposed to the long int's memory usage of 4 which is the default for int] I wanted to create a pointer that uses the memory address of a short integer. I'm following a tutorial in my book about Pointers and it's using the Swap function. • Marshalling the value of a char* ANSI string DLL API parameter into a C# string

  For those who do not mix .NET C# code with legacy DLL's that use char* pointers on a regular basis, the process to convert the strings one way or the other is non-obvious. This is not a comprehensive article on the topic at all, but rather an example of something that took me some time to go find, maybe it will save someone else the time. I am utilizing a third party too that uses a call back function to inform my application of its progress.  This callback includes a pointer that under some circumstances is a pointer to an ANSI character string.  I just need to marshal it into a C# string variable.  Seems pretty simple, yes?  Well, it is, (as are most things, once you know how to do them). The parameter of my callback function is of type IntPtr, which implies it is an integer representation of a pointer.  If I know the pointer is pointing to a simple ANSI string, here is a simple static method to copy it to a C# string: private static string GetStringFromCharStar(IntPtr ptr) {     return System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.PtrToStringAnsi(ptr); } The System.Runtime.InteropServices is where to look any time you are mixing legacy unmanaged code with your .NET application.

  Using the ODAC (Oracle Data Access Components) downloaded from Oracle to talk to a handfull of Oracle DBs - Was putting together my DAL to update the DB, and things weren't working as I hoped - UPDATE foo SET bar = :P_BAR WHERE bap = :P_BAP I assign my parameters - objCmd.Parameters.Add(objBap); objCmd.Parameters.Add(objBar);   Execute update command - int result = objCmd.ExecuteNonQuery() and result is zero! ...  Is my filter incorrect? SELECT count(*) FROM foo WHERE bap = :P_BAP ...result is one... Is my new value incorrect?  Am I using Char instead of Varchar somewhere and need an RTRIM?  Is there a transaction getting involved?  An error thrown and not caught? The answer: Order of parameters.   The order parameters are added to the Oracle Command object must match the order the parameters are referenced in the SQL statement.  I was adding the parameters for the WHERE clause before adding the SET value parameters, and for that reason although no error was being thrown, no value was updated either. Flip parameter collection around to match order of params in the SQL statement, and ExecuteNonQuery() is back to returning the number of rows affected.

  I recently had an issue with my acer 4736z notebook because I was having a blank screen after booting the OS, then someone told me to use the parameter GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT = "quiet splash acpi_osi = Linux" after quiet splash inside the grub.   I have a function that takes a pointer to a D3DXVECTOR3, but I have no reason to declare this beforehand. The most logical solution to me was using new: Function( //other parameters, new D3DXVECTOR3(x, y, 0)); but I don't know how I would go about deleting it, beign intitialized in a function. My next thought was to use the & operator, like so: Function( //other parameters, &D3DVECTOR3(x, y, 0)); but I don't know if this is a valid way to go about doing this. (It doesn't get an error, but neither does int *x; x = 50;). So should I use new, &, or some other technique I'm overlooking?

  I am writing a C# program in which I send a query to SQL Server to be processed and a dataset returns. I am using parameters to pass information to the query before it is sent to SQL server. This works fine except in the situation below. The query looks like this: reportQuery = " Select * From tableName Where Account_Number in (@AccountNum); and Account_Date = @AccountDate "; The AccountDate parameter works find but not the AccountNum parameter. I need the final query to execute like this: Select * From tableName Where Account_Number in ('AX3456','YZYL123','ZZZ123'); and Account_Date = '1-Jan-2010' The problem is that I have these account numbers (actually text) in a C# string list. To feed it to the parameter, I have been declaring the parameter as a string. I turn the list into one string and feed it to the parameter. I think the problem is that I am feeding the paramater this: "'AX3456','YZYL123','ZZZ123'" when it wants this 'AX3456','YZYL123','ZZZ123' How do I get the string list into the query using a parameter and have it execute as shown above? This is how I am declaring and assigning the parameter. SqlParameter AccountNumsParam = new SqlParameter(); AccountNumsParam.ParameterName = "@AccountNums"; AccountNumsParam.SqlDbType = SqlDbType.NVarChar; AccountNumsParam.Value = AccountNumsString; FYI, AccountNumString == "'AX3456','YZYL123','ZZZ123'"

• xgamma -display parameter for dual monitor setup

  I want to change gamma for my first monitor. Every time I invoke xgamma with different -display parameters it somehow points to my second monitor. But I want to modify first one. I tried these commands. The parameters I have used for -display are :0, :0.0, :0.1, :1.0, :1.1, :1. Only the first 2 works. But it points to my second monitor. Not the first one.   I'm trying to implement a skybox into my engine, and I'm having some trouble loading the image as a cube map. Everything works (but it doesn't look right) if I don't load using an ImageLoadInformation struct in the ShaderResourceView.FromFile() method, but it breaks if I do. I need to, of course, because I need to tell SlimDX to load it as a cubemap. How can I fix this?   I'm PXE-booting a Ubuntu 10.10 system, where I specify the kernel parameters as follows: append root=/dev/nfs initrd=ubuntu-boot/initrd.img-2.6.35-24-generic nfsroot=11.22.33.44:/data/nfsroot,fsc ip=dhcp rw I need to use the mount option 'fsc' in order to use FS-cache functionality (the cachefilesd package.) However, when I try this I get the following error upon boot: nfsmount: bad option 'fsc' Why doesn't nfsmount permit this option? (It works fine when you mount manually with "mount -o fsc" after booting up.)

  I'm kind of stuck at this part and was hoping that I'd get some assistance. I'm building a highscores page in PHP, that's going great, it works. However, I dislike the idea of index.php?skill=name and therefore wanted a bit of SEO in this. I have successfully replaced the url with a more friendly version: highscores/skill/name And this is where the problem starts, I have added pagination to the highscores and the page is read from the HTTP_GET page variable ($_GET['page']). I dislike the idea of highscores/skill/name&page=2 and was hoping if you guys could assist me to make the url like the following: Page 1, so accessing the file without declaring the page number: DOMAIN.TLD/highscores/skill/name Page 1 so now the page variable is needed: DOMAIN.TLD/highscores/skill/name/2 As you can tell the "2" will define page 2 and load the correct data for page 2. However, I'm having much trouble in my .htaccess file to configure it this way. RewriteRule ^highscores\/skill\/(.*?)(\/(.*?)*)$ highscores/skills.php?skill=$1&page=$2 [L] # Skills page That is my latest attempt in order to get it to work, unfortunately it does not work, it makes the page look horrible (CSS doesn't work) and it doesn't go to the page specified on the URL.

  Today, I had a hard time unit testing a function to make sure a Method with some array parameters was called. Method to be called : void AddUsersToRoles(string[] usernames, string[] roleNames);   I had previously used Arg<T>.Matches on complex types in other unit tests, but for some reason I was unable to find out how to apply the same logic with an array of strings.   It is actually quite simple to do, T really is a string[], so we use Arg<string[]>. As for the Matching part, a ToList() allows us to leverage the lambda expression.   sut.PermissionServices.AssertWasCalled(                 l => l.AddUsersToRoles(                     Arg<string[]>.Matches(a => a.ToList().First() == UserId.ToString())                     ,Arg<string[]>.Matches(a => a.ToList().First() == expectedRole1 && a.ToList()[1] == expectedRole2)                     )                     );   Of course, iw we expect an array with 2 or more values, the math would be something like : a => a.ToList()[0] == value1 && a.ToList()[1] == value2    … etc.

• Initializing entities vs having a constructor parameter

  I'm working on a turn-based tile-based puzzle game, and to create new entities, I use this code: Field.CreateEntity(10, 5, Factory.Player()); This creates a new Player at [10; 5]. I'm using a factory-like class to create entities via composition. This is what the CreateEntity method looks like: public void CreateEntity(int mX, int mY, Entity mEntity) { mEntity.Field = this; TileManager.AddEntity(mEntity, true); GetTile(mX, mY).AddEntity(mEntity); mEntity.Initialize(); InvokeOnEntityCreated(mEntity); } Since many of the components (and also logic) of the entities require to know what the tile they're in is, or what the field they belong to is, I need to have mEntity.Initialize(); to know when the entity knows its own field and tile. The Initialize(); method contains a call to an event handler, so that I can do stuff like this in the factory class: result.OnInitialize += () => result.AddTags(TDLibConstants.GroundWalkableTag, TDLibConstants.TrapdoorTag); result.OnInitialize += () => result.AddComponents(new RenderComponent(), new ElementComponent(), new DirectionComponent()); This works so far, but it is not elegant and it's very open to bugs. I'm also using the same idea with components: they have a parameterless constructor, and when you call the AddComponent(mComponent); method in an entity, it is the entity's job to set the component's entity to itself. The alternative would be having a Field, int, int parameters in the factory class, to do stuff like: new Entity(Field, 10, 5); But I also don't like the fact that I have to create new entities like this. I would prefer creating entities via the Field object itself. How can I make entity/component creation more elegant and less prone to bugs?
