Does anyone know of a generic driver for touchpads that supports scrolling. I specifically need this for a Windows 7 machine but could use it on others as well.
I have a Toshiba laptop, with an integral Synaptics (PS/2 port) touch pad, that I bought pre-installed with 32-bit Windows Vista. After doing a clean install of 32-bit Windows 7, I can no longer get the touch pad to respond.
The function (FN) keys on the laptop still operate correctly, but they no longer display on screen when used. I have no…
I understand my MSI x350 notebook comes with a Sentelic trackpad, which supports multi-touch (according to the MSI website). Is there a way to enable multitouch on Ubuntu? I've been having difficulty finding info about this on google, and since it's not a synaptics touchpad I haven't been able to find much info in ubuntu docs. My mouse…
I have an Asus N53SM laptop that I leave running for several weeks at a time. I never put it in hibernate or suspend, I only close the lid when I'm not using it. After a few days or weeks of running, the touchpad and keyboard will Both lock up (at the same time) for no apparent reason. I could be just surfing the internet when it…
When X.org boots up, Synaptics touchpad works well. But when I remove the module it falls back to /dev/input/mice and don't use normal driver even when touchpad is available again.

I think it's broken because it starts working in the same way when i install their drivers in windows. It's an acer travelmate 6492.
I want to disable it because i think that is broken, however i'm going to write what happens and if someone knows what could be wrong if it's not physically broken, can tell me how to solve it.

I got a cheap netbook and put ubuntu on it without even booting into the windows it came with. I am now slightly regretting it since the trackpad is very annoying, it only registers when I press quite hard on it, and even then the motion is so slow that I must drag me poor finger 3 times to get the pointer to move up or down…
I have some ideas for improvements on my touchpad, ranging from the run of the mill scroll horizontally at the bottom, tapzones for right click, to more complicated ones. But I have no idea where to get started? I'm working on Windows 7 Home Premium, its an Asus laptop, and I have none of these options natively available to…

Are you looking for a way to help your Touchpad computer make you more productive? Here’s a quick look at Scrybe, a new application from Synaptics that lets you superpower it.
Touchpad devices have become increasingly more interesting as they’ve included support for multi-touch gestures. Scrybe takes it to the…
I have this script (or rather a set of commands which has permission to execute) to enable two finger scrolling and two finger tap = right click
The script is located in /home/gaurav/Multigesture/multigesture.
When I run the following command in terminal, two finger scrolling and two finger tap = right click start…
Need help in getting the right mouse click to work on a HP mini 210-1015TU when using the touchpad.
If I plug in a USB mouse, both left click and right click function as normal. Using the touchpad however I can only get the left click to work. Attempting to right click gives the result expected from a left click.…
This is more of a hardware question, but i wanted to know: what's the maximum feasible size that a touchpad can be made? I am wondering because someone remarked to me the other day that the surface on an iPod Touch is basically a touchpad, so how big can they be?
I had to reinstall Windows XP on my Aspire 5720 and now I'm reinstalling the drivers. There are two touchpad drivers and I don't know how to find out which is the right one for my system. I've run the program Acer provides that looks at your hardware, but it doesn't tell me which touchpad I have. The two…
I have Debian Squeeze currently installed on a Samsung N250 netbook with a Synaptics touchpad. These touchpads are, generally, good, and everything works perfectly on Windows.
The support is extremely sucky on Linux through. Of course it has all the cool features like two-finger scrolling, but the cursor…
it used to be that tapping two fingers on the touchpad send a middle mouse click. Now it does a right click and three fingers now are the middle click. I really can't understand the change and think it is a bug or badly copied from Apple or something. The reasoning escapes me totally.
I use middle click…
I'm in a HP 430 PC-Notebook using Oneiric. And sometimes my touchpad just stop working :(... I haven't installed anything, just safe playing with terminal following linuxcommand.org
BTW my touchpad has a "hole" that in Windows, it works like this: two touch, block touchpad, two touch, unblock.
And as…
I know there's a lot of similar questions, but nothing I have tried here works yet - perhaps I was doing it wrong.
New Laptop - Toshiba Tecra R850 with an install of Oneiric 64 bit.
Mostly things are working well, but I have a problem with the touchpad (or whatever it's called) - whenever I use it…
This is the first computer I have ever bought and I couldn't bring it home without a mouse of its own. I'm trying to disable the touchpad but the only option I find is by uninstalling the drivers, which I think is a bit drastic, the buttons for activation and deactivation are disabled (I'm using…
The title says it all...I upgraded today and can no longer scroll vertically with my touchpad. I'm really missing that feature since it helps to ease the RSI on my right index finger. How do I re-enable it?
I currently have a Synaptics touchpad with only few classic multitouch features (2 finger scroll, right click). By installing the uTouch testing suite, I saw that it doesn't accept my touchpad as input device. I want to buy a newer notebook and would like to benefit of uTouch features (window…
I have an acer E1-571 laptop, with an ELAN Smart Pad. Unfortunately the "Smart" pad is a bit too smart. It automatically disables itself while I am pressing any keys. This is useful when typing. However it does not allow me to play games that use the mouse for scrolling such as Counter Strike…
Specifically, I'm on a Dell Inspiron 1525. I'd like to disable the touchpad so that I can re-enable if my mouse were to run out of batteries (so physically breaking the connection to the motherboard or uninstalling the driver will not be the best options). In the Control Panel, when I go to…
I accidentally deleted my Dell xps 14 touch pad disabling driver and I don't know where to find it and reinstall it.
I have already tried Dell support and without luck (I don't want to install something that I don't know).
Would anyone please send me the link to that driver
To clarify:…
