• php.ini modifications has no effect on joomla

  I have a netbook with a recently installed ubuntu server 12.04 64-bit. I have (only) installed Joomla on it (version 2.5) and now I am trying to tweak the php.ini settings so I can install jomsocial onto joomla. I have changed these settings: upload_max_filesize = 2M post_max_size = 8M to this: upload_max_filesize = 20M post_max_size = 20M in all php.ini-files in my system. Thats six files, found using 'locate': /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini /etc/php5/cli/php.ini /usr/share/doc/php5-common/examples/php.ini-development /usr/share/php5/php.ini-production /usr/share/php5/php.ini-production-dist /usr/share/php5/php.ini-production.cli I have double-checked that these files actually contain the new settings. Still, joomla does not recognize the new settings, stating that upload_max_filesize is still only 2M and post_max_size is still only 8M The same is true after a complete restart of the server. What am I doing wrong here?

• Can't mount data DVD using 12.04

  I cannot mount a data DVD using Ubuntu 12.04. I can read the DVD using a different OS, so the DVD is not the problem. I can read other CDs using Ubuntu.   (guest reference added by Nancy) Anyone who has been working with Data import and exoport as well as the Essbase Excel Add In has probably come across a phenomenon that is called data precision: Lots of zeroes are added to any given number that has been calculated by Essbase, and this gets displayed as "10.0000000000001" or "9.99999999999999" instead of a simple "10" . This question is one of the recurring ones that Support get asked over and over again, and we therefore feel the need to give an explanation to it: I would like to point you to the note The Limits of Data Precision in Essbase (Doc ID 1311188.1) which explains in detail why these numbers are showing up and what to do about it.

In this entry I'm starting from his sample application and I'm showing how easy it is to build an interface that will look great on an iPhone (or other mobile devices) using Oracle ADF Mobile Browser. For those of you who are just using ADF and never tried ADF Mobile Browser - you'll find that the development experience is quite familiar and similar to your normal Web application development. In the latest version of JDeveloper (11.1.2.1) which I'm usingin this demo we have a built-in skin that will give your application the native iOS look and feel. In the demo I achieve this by setting the styleclass of a tr:panelHeader component to af_m_toolbar to get this. • What is the relevance of resumes in the age of GitHub, Stack Exchange, Coursera, Udacity, blogs, etc.?

  My resume is no longer relevant. It can no longer contain an adequate description of my technical abilities. One can get a much better sense of what I am capable of by looking at my GitHub repositories, my Stack Exchange profiles, and the various courses that I am taking at Udacity and Coursera. The problem is that I have no idea how to tell employers that those are the places to look if they want an accurate description of what I can do. Every time a recruiter contacts me I gently nudge them towards all the resources I just mentioned and I also provide a link to a publicly visible Google doc that contains my resume along with links to all those resources. Yet, they keep coming back asking for a more descriptive resume. How can I make it even more blatantly obvious that if somebody wants to hire me then they can save themselves a whole bunch of trouble by just clicking on a few links and browsing around?

  With release 12.2.4 for non-referenced RMAs, Order Management will allow you to configure the model from Sales Order / Quick Sales Order windows. This is only allowable when profile  OM: Enable Configuration UI for RMA is set to Yes.  All selected options must be returnable, as well as all included items. Order Management explodes included items and creates options and option classes in a way similar to outbound orders. The application creates all selected components with same line number but different option/component number.  Additionally, the application does not allow re-configuration and/or deletion of any line if any line in the same configuration is received, fulfilled, closed, cancelled, or split.   I noticed that every developer implements a somewhat different flowchart for solving programming problems. By flowchart I mean a defined system of techniques that the developer goes through in a certain sequence, trying to solve the problem at hand. Some examples for techniques: Google "how to..." or "... tutorial". Search the java/msdn/apple/etc API doc for the specific class or method. Search in stack overflow the exact problem with some tags like [iphone]/[java] etc. Take a nap and let the subconscious work. Debug. Draw the algorithm or system. Google the logged error message. Ask a colleague or manager. Ask a new question in stack overflow. From your experience, what is the best flowchart for solving a programming problem?

  Hello all, I am just wondering how do you implement libmarkdown-php in a php script? By this, I mean: What code do I run to use the markdown library? Does it simply just add one function? Does it allows me to encode markdown2html and vise versa? Where is a doc for this package, I can't find one? :( Okay, so it terns out that I found the docs, just did not match them up, the project-page did not contain any info on it being the Squeeze package libmarkdown-php, Said to know it is not in Lenny. • Earliest use of Comments as Semantically Meaningful Things in a Program?

  In certain corners of the PHP meta-programming world, it's become fashionable to use PHPDoc comments as a mechanism for providing semantically meaningful information to a program. That is, other code will parse the doc blocks and do something significant with the information encoded in those comments. Doctrine's annotations and code generation are an example of this. What's the earliest (or some early) use of this technique? I have vague memories of some early java Design by Contract implementations doing similar things, but I'm not sure of those folks were inventing the technique, or if they got it from somewhere. Mainly asking so I can provide some historical context for PHP developers who haven't come across the technique before, and are distrustful of it because it seems a little crazy pants.

• Algorithm to simplify building/structural meshes

  I am looking for an algorithm to simplify the meshes of buildings or similar structures. EDIT: I had made a comment that Hoppe's algorithm tends to make meshes more and more spherical with simplification. But, I am not sure about it, so am deleting the comment. Buildings in contrast should tend to become more and more rectangular with increasing simplification. The D3DX extensions for D3D in version 9.0 (d3dx9.lib) used to have classes to do progressive mesh simplification.   Looking for a simple, clean and easy to use personal/career objectives tracker for my team of ~10 developers something like what remember the milk is for tasks. At the moment I track these in a google doc, but ideally like a system where I can browse the teams objectives, add a team objective and it automatically appear on members personal objectives. Also where team members can add/manage their own objectives, browse colleges public/team objectives. Ideally it would also have option for people to add personal out side of work objectives for personal dev projects. • Lua and multi-paradigm programming: scope and capabilities

  Despite having started learning programming with Pascal and C, after the jump to OO (C++, Java) I lost sense of the structured programming paradigm. I have started learning Lua and I have researched many tutorials, but all of them only cover basic operations and language features and capabilities. They feel more like a reference doc than a programmer's guide. Now, when trying to work with day to day tasks, how does one go through most common design patterns like observer, or multithreaded programming, creating UI elements and polling system calls for keyboard or sensors? Is it even feasible in this languages or you have to work with the C binding, libraries and low-level programming to get most stuff done? Do I get the Lua scope wrong?

• How do I install OpenStack?

  Supposedly openstack can be installed easily under Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I've installed 32 and 64bit versions of Ubuntu Server with the same behavior. sudo tasksel check OpenStack hit Okay then I get a tasksel: aptitude failed (100) I've seen: http://www.hastexo.com/resources/docs/installing-openstack-essex-20121-ubuntu-1204-precise-pangolin and https://github.com/EmilienM/doc-openstack documentation, but I was hoping that since it was an LTS released and it was an option in tasksel that I was simply overlooking something obvious and it's just a matter of selecting the right checkbox and hitting okay. Too much wishful thinking?
