  Please note this is not a question about online/hosted SVN services. I am working on a home based, solo developer, project that now has commercial significance and it is time to think about remote source code backup. There is no need for file level check in/out, all I need is once a day or once a week directory level snapshot to remote storage. Automatic encryption would be a bonus to protect my IP. What I have in mind is some sort of GUI interface app that will squirt a source code snapshot off to an Amazon S3 bucket on an automatic schedule. (My development PC runs on MS Windows.)

  Hello...I am new to PHP (never really used it before tonight) and I need to use a PHP script to read the contents of a file on my website (http://kylemills.net/Geocaching/BadgeGen/MacroFiles/BadgeGenBeta.gsk) and then take some specific varying data and output it. For example: If my file contains the text: random text Here is some text #There is some text here too $Version = "V2.2.23 Beta" random text #some more text $Text="some text" If the above was the contents of my file, I need the script to return "V2.2.23 Beta" (without quotes). The idea is that as I update the file, the version changes and I want this to be reflected across my site.   I need an algorithm to find the best solution of a path finding problem. The problem can be stated as: At the starting point I can proceed along multiple different paths. At each step there are another multiple possible choices where to proceed. There are two operations possible at each step: A boundary condition that determine if a path is acceptable or not. A condition that determine if the path has reached the final destination and can be selected as the best one. At each step a number of paths can be eliminated, letting only the "good" paths to grow. I hope this sufficiently describes my problem, and also a possible brute force solution. My question is: is the brute force is the best/only solution to the problem, and I need some hint also about the best coding structure of the algorithm.

The application needs to be able to match the phrase: Looking for a second hand car in good shape To other phrases which basically have the same meaning but use different wording, such as: 2nd hand car in great condition needed or searching for a used car in optimal quality The phrases are length limited (say 250 chars), user generated & unstructured. Instead of going for clusters, I am planning to propose to use Windows Azure Cloud for this application. I have gone through white papers of Windows Azure and have collected some details about Azure. But I feel that is not substantial. I need to do some case study about applications that are running on the azure and that uses azure storage efficiently. I looked for several research paper in related to performance of the applications in Windows Azure. But as Azure was quite new, I wasn't able to find any. Now, I am looking for some white papers/details regarding application that uses azure storage to substantiate my proposal. I also need to understand the windows azure storage architecture and virtual machine architecture. Do anyone know some research papers or details or blogs or something related to these topics.

• binary file formats: need for error correction?

  I need to serialize some data in a binary format for efficiency (datalog where 10-100MB files are typical), and I'm working out the formatting details. I'm wondering if realistically I need to worry about file corruption / error correction / etc. What are circumstances where file corruption can happen? Should I be building robustness to corruption into my binary format? Or should I wrap my nonrobust-to-corruption stream of bytes with some kind of error correcting code? (any suggestions? I'm using Java) Or should I just not worry about this?

  Are there any tutorials or guides out there that anyone knows of that will show me how to read forms from an external program and get back information about the controls on the form? Currently, I can get the handle to the form, and I can get the class name, but I need to get more information such as a persistent name and contained data. Thanks. Edit: I now have a way to read the contained data (with the WM_GETTEXT message), however, I still need a persistent name/ID that I can be sure will not change from instance to instance. One way I can think of for doing this is to take the handle, find the position of the control on the window, and then get the handle from the position from then on. Another way is to determine a static ID for the control and then use that to get the handle from then on. The new scope of my problem is how to implement either of these. Any Ideas?

• C++ a class with an array of structs, without knowing how large an array I need

  New to C++, and for that matter OO programming. I have a class with fields like firstname, age, school etc. I need to be able to store other information like for instance, where they have travelled, and what year it was in. I cannot declare another class specifically to hold travelDestination and what year, so I think a struct might be best. This is just an example: struct travel { string travelDest; string year; }; The issue is people are likely to have travelled different amounts. I was thinking of just having an array of travel structs to hold the data. But how do I create a fixed sized array to hold them, without knowing how big I need it to be? Perhaps I am going about this the completely wrong way, so any suggestions as to a better way would be appreciated.

  Say I have two classes, and neither of them are GUI components. Class A is a short lived object that registers for an event declared by a long lived object B. For example public A(B b) { b.ChangeEvent += OnChangeEvent; } If A never deregisters from B's event, will A never be garbage collected? Does A need a Dispose method just to deregister from B's event? There is also a related second question. If A and B should both live for the entire execution time of the application, does A need to deregister?

  Hi, I am new to iPhone development and really have no idea how to do what I am trying to implement. Here is my problem, I need to display the users current street and city as text in my iPhone app (See picture). I have seen many posts on stack overflow and other websites about how to do this but they are all just code examples. As I said before, I am a extreme beginner. I just need to show the MKReverseGeocoder and its output as text in my application. If someone could walk me through how/where to create the ReverseGeocoder and how to make it show up in my application I would be extremely grateful. I have searched for hours trying to find a beginner example but alas I cannot find one that lays it out step by step. I hope this can help me out.

  Previously, on StackOverflow ... (Summarized) I need to capture all requests, for a particluar subdomain .. and rewrite their destination. Now, the trick to determining the host via regex was solved. Now, i need to make sure all requests to the root index page is rewritten, but i can't figure out the correct regex to find the 'homepage' / website root. this is what i have.... <if header="HTTP_HOST" match="^foo\.mydomain\.com\.au(?::\d+)?/?$"> <!-- snip some other rewrites, eg./buying/product -> ~/Pages/Foo/Bar.aspx --> <rewrite url="^/$" to="~/Pages/SomeWeirdFolder/Home.aspx" processing="stop"/> </if> Now if one of the rewrites were not found, then it falls through and continues.   Hi, I'm working on a project and I need some advice. Just some background, Im not a programmer though at times I do some fiddling and I am generally comfortable with more specific terms. Now for the actual issue, I have a folder with 10 small videos (4/7 secs max each) and I would like to display them full screen looping and overlaid.   The company I work for is looking to implement a caching solution. We have several WCF Web Services hosted and we need to cache certain values that can be persisted and fetched regardless of a client's session to a service. I am looking at the following technologies: Caching Application Block 4.1 WCF TCP Service using HttpRuntime Caching Memcached Win32 and Client Microsoft AppFabric Caching Beta 2 Our test server is a Windows Server 2003 with IIS6, but our production server is Windows Server 2008, so any of the above options would work (except for AppFabric Caching on our test server). Does anyone have any experience with any of these? This caching solution will not be used to store a lot of data, but it will need to be fetched from frequently and fast. Thanks in advance.

• Do I need to enable DRS to use Dynacache in Websphere Application Server Cluster

  We are running a websphere commerce application with several websphere application servers configured in a cluster. We are using dynacache, so each server in the cluster will have its own cached objects in its own JVM. We are using CACHEIVL with database triggers for all cache invalidations. I was reading http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/websphere/library/techarticles/0603_crick/0603_crick.html and found an interesting sentence: "Furthermore, cache replication is necessary to ensure that invalidation messages are shared between the servers in a cluster." After thinking about this it would make sense that for the invalidation to work it would need to be triggered on all the servers in the cluster, but I couldn't find confirmation of this in the mountains of IBM doco. Does anyone know if you can use trigger based cache invalidation (through CACHEIVL) when you have several application servers clustered each with their own cache without DRS turned on? or do I need to use DRS for this to work?

  I have a large .NET based system running within the company intranet, which allows winforms users to see some live calculated numbers and a custom winforms control drawn live (but not real-time). The Forms users can also affect the operation of the system. I would like to just show the live numbers on a website, along with the custom control. Nothing needs to come back from the web user, as the web app is meant to be just for monitoring. All the numbers can be calculated at the server. It's been a long time since I touched ASP.NET, and I need to know how to proceed. What are the steps in building and deploying such a website? Any caveats I need to look out for?
