• Handling multiple exceptions

  Hi there, I have written a class which loads configuration objects of my application and keeps track of them so that I can easily write out changes or reload the whole configuration at once with a single method call. However, each configuration object might potentially throw an exception when doing IO, yet I do not want those errors to cancel the overall process so that the other objects are still given a chance to reload/write. Therefore I collect all exceptions which are thrown while iterating over the objects and store them in a super-exception, which is thrown after the loop, since each exception must still be handled and someone has to be notified of what exactly went wrong. However, that approach looks a bit odd to me. Someone out there with a cleaner solution?   Hi, I have a table called Resource, and i am making a line chart (the chart is complicated, so just assume its a simple xy line chart). I want to execute the report with different resources. I have added a new parameter and bound it to a dataset to return a dropdownlist of resource names. Can i do a mulitiple selection of resource. for example if i want to make chart with ResourceA and ResourceB, only, can i select these two resources from the dropdownlist of parameters. cheers, Oz

Imagine this situation: You have different resources, and resource loaders for them, that take a std::istream as a parameter. And there are a "resource source" that provides these streams. Resources can be both text and binary and I need to handle both cases with resource loaders. Or other situation: Image that you have an archive with resources of mixed types.   Hello, when I have the fallowing code to read a binary file: NSString* file = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:fileName]; NSString* filePath = resource ? [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:file ofType:nil] : [[NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES) objectAtIndex:0] stringByAppendingPathComponent: file]; NSData* fileData = [NSData dataWithContentsOfFile:filePath]; Where "fileName" and resource are load function parameters. "resource" is used to know if the file is located in application bundle or in Documents. Sometimes this code works well and sometimes it doesn't. As far I saw this problem is random. I can run the code 10 times in a row and it works fine and after that it gives me nil data without any modification. Does anybody knows what could be the problem? Could it be related with file extension or file name? Thank you. PS: I use this code on iPhone Simulator and the file exists in application bundle.

  I am working with UIWebView project and I want to load an HTML file from a project resource. It is working fine when I run from the URL, but when I view the HTML file locally, JS files are not loaded. Loading the local HTML local file doesn't refer to js files in UIWebView. I created two AVDs. One for API level 8, one for API level 16. When I try to build, it gives me these three errors and a warning. What is wrong with my setup?   I have two resource controllers where I am using a slug to represent the ID. (friendly_id gem). I am able to have the show path for one resource on the route but not for two at the same time. ie. root :to => 'home#index' match '/:id' => "properties#show" match '/:id' => "contents#show" Basically I want urls like, # Content domain.com/about-us domain.com/terms # Property domain.com/unique-property-name domain.com/another-unique-property-name Whatever resource I put on top works. Is there a way to do this? Thanks in advace if you can help.

• How can I get the "Latency" of a process that has a TCP connection open?

  Hello, I am looking to get the "Latency" field of a TCP connection. I notice windows Resource Monitor has this field, and I was wondering if there was a way I can find it. Preferrably without using WMI. If you are unsure what field I am talking about, open Task Manager, goto the Performance tab and hit the Resource Monitor button. Once Resource Monitor is open, expand the TCP Connections area and you will see a Latency field. Is there anyway to access this programatically? Thanks!

  Hello. I have a weird problem with global resources in my asp.net mvc web application. I have some resources in separate project(not a web app project). Those resources have following settings: Build action: Embedded Resource, Copy To Output Directory: Do not copy, Custom Tool: ResXFileCodeGenerator. When I change an existing value in resource file, build solution in release mode and upload neccesary dll files back to server, the previous values in resources are still shown. However, when I add a new key into resource file, the value of this key is shown properly. I do not have this problem during debugging on localhost. Thanks

• Deadlock Problem because of an Update Lock.

  We have a deadlock issue we're trying to track down. I have an deadlock graph (xdl) generated from Profiler. It shows the losing SQL statement as a simple Select statement, not an Update, Delete or Insert statement. The graph shows the losing Select statement as requesting a Shared lock on a resource **but also owning an Update lock on a resource**. This is what is baffling me. Why would a Select statement that is not part of an Insert, Update or Delete ever hold an Update lock on a resource? I should add that the Update lock it owns is on the table being selected against by the losing Select statement.

  I noticed that .NET framework uses formatting functions, generated the same way localizable string are. There is a resource file Resources.resx with resource string TestString. So you may use it in code like this: string localizableValue = Resources.TestString; Now, imagine you need a formattable localizable string, to use it in string.Format function. So everytime you use it, you have to write something like this: string localizableFormattedValue = string.Format(Resources.TestFormatString, someParam1, someParam2); The observation says that in .NET framework generated resource classes already include the above construction. So instead of string property, a string function is generated. The resulting code looks like this: string localizableFormattedValue = Resources.TestFormatString(someParam1, someParam2); The question is - how do they do this? Is it some custom Microsoft feature (resx generator) or I'm missing something obvious?

  Hi, My understanding of Resources is that I can combine resources i.e. images and my program into single executable. Let's say I have image pic1.png and I put it into Resource of my project, and is accessible with Properties.Resource.pic1. For example, PictureBox pb = new PictureBox(); pb.Image = Properties.Resource.pic1; What I want to do is for that my program will be able to replace this image at runtime. For example, my program runs, and locate newPicture.png, and use this new image to replace pic1.png that was originally used. Maybe my question is better reworded as "Can I include new image into Resources at runtime?" Please help. Thanks.

• Should an edit of a comment be sent through POST or PUT?

  I have the following URI: Posts/{postId}/Comments/{commentId} I would like to enable users to edit a comment through my API, should the edit be done with POST or PUT? One one hand, POST updates the contents of a resource so that makes sense but on the other hand PUT replaces it with a new one. So if I understand correctly with POST I need to send only what needs to be updates and with PUT I send the whole resource. Usually in edit forms, the whole resource is loaded anyway so what's the point of using POST? If I take one approach or the other, what are the differences?

  In my windows 7 home premium, several of my application crashes after some minutes even wehn I am not touching system. For example I have outlook 2007, that works fine, but suddenly crashes. The same about visual studio 2012. It is also crashes after some minute no matter if I am working on a project or I am not touching it. the same behaviour is there, for other applications (skype, oovoo and ...). I use Microsoft security essential and there is no virus on my system. I also checked my system with Sophos anti root kit and there is no root kit there. What would be the problem?

  I have a database and the database populates a listview. when i long press a list item from the listview i get a context menu where i have the option to edit. When the edit option is clicked i open an activity and get all the values of the respective fields from the database. Now, here I want to get a value from the database and show it in the spinner. the spinner already has these values and is getting populated from the database...   I have the above mentioned error in my /var/log/auth.log file and just try to figure out if this is a harmelss statement. As far as I understand does pmvarrun tells the system how many active session (e.g. logins) a user has on the system.
