  • Best Text-to-Speech Solution for my Website [on hold]

    - by Tim Marshall
I'm working on the 'Ease of Access' section of my website with the options to increase the font-size displayed on pages to a minimum, invert colours and whatnot. I wish to implement a plugin which, if enabled by the user, to read content on my website. Presumably my best option is a website plugin, however there might be some programming I've not come across which allows the likes of PHP to read content. I'm not entirely sure how this all works.

  • Should back end processes be included in use cases in requirements document?

    - by bizso09
We're writing a requirements document for our client and need to include the use cases of the system. We're following this template: ID Description Actors Precondition Basic Steps Alternate Steps Exceptions Business validations/Rules Postconditions In the Basic Steps section, should we include steps that the system performs in the back end or should we only include steps that the user directly interacts with? Example: Basic Steps for Search 1: User goes to search page User enters term User presses search System matches search term with database entries System displays results vs Basic Steps for Search 2: User goes to search page User enters term User presses search System displays results

  • SQL Insert Into Statement

    - by Derek Dieter
The “insert into” statement is used in order to insert data into an existing table. The syntax for this is fairly simple. In the first section of the statement, you specify the table name and column names in which you are inserting data into. The second part is where the source of [...]

  • Print screen key can no longer select a region to capture

    - by Steven Sproat
After upgrading from 11.04 to 11.10, I've noticed that the "Take Screenshot" application used to be launched when I'd hit print screen. Now it automatically captures the entire screen. In 11.04 it would pop up the "take screenshot" application which allows me to capture a rectangular region of the screen. Can this be reverted? I never want to capture the whole screen, only portions of it, which means manually cropping out that section in GIMP with this changed behaviour. Cheers.

  • Building an ASP.Net 4.5 Web forms application - part 3

    - by nikolaosk
?his is the third post in a series of posts on how to design and implement an ASP.Net 4.5 Web Forms store that sells posters on line.Make sure you read the first and second post in the series. In this new post I will keep making some minor changes in the Markup,CSS and Master page but there is no point in presenting them here. They are just minor changes to reflect the content and layout I want my site to have. What I need to do now is to add some more pages and start displaying properly data from my database.Having said that I will show you how to add more pages to the web application and present data.1) Launch Visual Studio and open your solution where your project lives2) Add a new web form item on the project.Make sure you include the Master Page.Name it PosterList.aspxHave a look at the picture below 3) In Site.Master add the following link to the master page so the user can navigate to it.You should only add the line in bold     <nav>                    <ul id="menu">                        <li><a runat="server" href="~/">Home</a></li>                        <li><a runat="server" href="~/About.aspx">About</a></li>                        <li><a runat="server" href="~/Contact.aspx">Contact</a></li>                          <li><a href="http://weblogs.asp.net/PosterList.aspx">Posters</a></li>                    </ul>                </nav> 4) Now we need to display categories from the database. We will use a ListView web server control.Inside the <div id="body"> add the following code. <section id="postercat">       <asp:ListView ID="categoryList"                          ItemType="PostersOnLine.DAL.PosterCategory"                         runat="server"                        SelectMethod="GetPosterCategories" >                        <ItemTemplate>                                                    <a href="http://weblogs.asp.net/PosterList.aspx?id=<%#: Item.PosterCategoryID %>">                            <%#: Item.PosterCategoryName %>                            </a>                            </b>                        </ItemTemplate>                        <ItemSeparatorTemplate> ----- </ItemSeparatorTemplate>                    </asp:ListView>             </section>        Let me explain what the code does.We have the ListView control that displays each poster category's name.It also includes a link to the PosterList.aspx page with a query-string value containing the ID of the category. We set the ItemType property in the ListView to the PosterCategory entity .We set the SelectMethod property to a method GetPosterCategories. Now we can use the data-binding expression Item (<%#: %>) that is available within the ItemTemplate . 5) Now we must write the GetPosterCategories method. In the Site.Master.cs file add the following code. This is just a simple function that returns the poster categories.        public IQueryable<PosterCategory> GetPosterCategories()        {            PosterContext ctx = new PosterContext();            IQueryable<PosterCategory> query = ctx.PosterCategories;            return query;        } 6) I just changed a few things in the Site.css file to style the new <section> HTML element that includes the ListView control.#postercat {  text-align: center; background-color: #85C465;}     7) Build and run your application. Everything should compile now. Have a look at the picture below. The links (poster categories) appear.?he ListView control when is called during the page lifecycle calls the GetPosterCategories() method. The method is executed and returns the poster categories that are bound to the control.  When I click on any of the poster category links, the PosterList.aspx page will show up with the appropriate Id that is the PosterCategoryID.Have a look at the picture below  We will add more data-enabled controls in the next post in the PosterList.aspx page. Some people are complaining the posts are too long so I will keep them short. Hope it helps!!!

  • SQL Rally Voting Open

    - by AllenMWhite
The voting for sessions for SQL Rally has been going on for a couple of weeks now. This week the Enterprise Database Administration & Deployment sessions are up for voting. I didn't go into politics because I don't feel comfortable telling people that they should vote for me but this is how the sessions are being decided for this conference, so here goes. I've submitted two abstracts, both grouped in the Summit Spotlight section. The first is a new session based on what I learned implementing...(read more)

  • How to make the most of GWT's "Search queries"?

    - by DisgruntledGoat
I've been looking at the "Search queries" section in Google Webmaster Tools recently, and it seems like there is a lot of potential there in finding which pages on a site need improvement. I'm trying to figure out exactly what to sort or filter on. Do I look at pages with a low average position? Low impressions but high clicks? Pages that are rising up/falling down the rankings? What is the low-hanging fruit here?

  • How do I split a texture into differently shaped pieces with libgdx?

    - by VictorB
I want to split a texture into variously shaped pieces with libgdx, like the pieces of a puzzle game. TextureRegion.split() is not an option, as it splits into equally sized rectangular texture regions. The "Similar Questions" section here is helpful (particularly this question How do I break an image into 6 or 8 pieces of different shapes?), but I'm not sure yet if it's possible to implement the solution with libgdx. Any pointers?

  • What is the meaning of # in R5RS Scheme number literals

    - by ikmac
There is a partial answer on Stack Overflow, but I'm asking something a teeny bit more specific than the answers there. So... Does the formal semantics (Section 7.2) specify the meaning of such a numeric literal? Does it specify the meaning of numeric operations on the value resulting from interpreting the literal? If yes, what are the meanings (in English -- denotational semantics is all greek characters to me :))?

  • Mod Rewrite Help - Pseudo-Subdirectories

    - by Gimpyfuzznut
I am dealing with a frustrating problem with Joomla that is going to require some url trickery. The idea is straight-forward but after reading a bunch of guides for mod-rewrite, I still can't seem to get it work. Let's say my site is www.mysite.com. Joomla is already performing some rewriting for SEF urls so I have links like www.mysite.com/home and www.mysite.com/news and so on. I want to be able to have (4) pseudo-subdirectories like www.mysite.com/mode1/ and www.mysite.com/mode2/ and so on. These subdirectories should work as if the subdirectory isn't there, ie both www.mysite.com/mode1/home and www.mysite.com/mode2/home should pull up the same www.mysite.com/home. It should point any www.mysite.com/mode1/anypagehere to www.mysite.com/anypagehere. The reason I am asking for this is because I will be reading the url for mode1, mode2, etc, to modify the template page. There will be a landing page that will direct people to /mode1/ and /mode2/ etc and the template will change based on that. Note, that I don't want to actually pass a parameter to the url accessible by a GET or whatever because Joomla removes it (perhaps because of my current mod_rewrite settings). I've pasted the current .htaccess file. RewriteBase /joomla ##########Rewrite rules to block out some common exploits RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} mosConfig_[a-zA-Z_]{1,21}(=|\%3D) [OR] # Block out any script trying to base64_encode crap to send via URL RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} base64_encode.*\(.*\) [OR] # Block out any script that includes a <script> tag in URL RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} (\<|%3C).*script.*(\>|%3E) [NC,OR] # Block out any script trying to set a PHP GLOBALS variable via URL RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} GLOBALS(=|\[|\%[0-9A-Z]{0,2}) [OR] # Block out any script trying to modify a _REQUEST variable via URL RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} _REQUEST(=|\[|\%[0-9A-Z]{0,2}) # Send all blocked request to homepage with 403 Forbidden error! I am trying to install a SSL certificate on IIS 7. I have download a free trial certificate. After that, this is the steps what I do: Click the Start menu and select Administrative Tools. Start Internet Services Manager and click the Server Name. In the center section, double click on the Server Certificates button in the Security section. From the Actions menu click Complete Certificate Request. Enter the location for the certificate file. Enter a Friendly name. Click OK. Under Sites select the site to be secured with the SSL certificate. From the Actions menu, click Bindings. This will open the Site Bindings window. In the Site Bindings window, click Add. This opens the Add Site Binding window. Select https from the Type menu. Set the port to 443. Select the SSL Certificate you just installed from the SSL Certificate menu. Click OK. This is the step where I get the message: One or more intermediate certificates in the certificate chain are missing. To resolve this issue, make sure that all of intermediate certificates are installed. For more information, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/954755 After this, when I access the web site on its first page, I get this message: There is a problem with this website's security certificate. What am I doing wrong?
