  • How should I group these variables?

    I have a shape that will be defined by: char s_type; char color; double height; double width; These variables are scanned in from a request string sent to my server and passed into my printing function, which then prints out the shape. Currently they are just local variables sitting in my main(); however, I was wondering if there would be any advantage in creating a struct containing these variables, and then passing the struct to my printing function? or how else might I improve my program's structure/style, would passing a struct by reference have any kind of performance benefit if there were many requests and therefore many printing function calls? printer(char st, char cr, double ht, double wd); int main() { // Other main functionality. char s_type; char color; double height; double width; sscanf (serv_req, "GET /%c/%c/%lf/%lf", &s_type, &color, &height, &width); printer(s_type, color, height, width); // Other main functionality. return 0; } It seemed "neater" if I had a struct or something that didn't leave me with declarations in the middle of everything else going on in main. As far as I understand there are two main parts here: Intercept the user actions (say http traffic in web/ui interaction in thick-client) analysis of user intentions. While the first part is rather technical and therefor easy to implement, the second one is AI related and can be academic. So I was wondering whether someone knows some third-parties/academic projects that would implement the 'action-recognition' stuff?

    Ok, this is my first time with windows server os. I started doing this out of curiosity. I have a desktop running windows server os 2003 which is connected to a wifi router. I have a laptop that connects to this router wirelessly and THIS REPRESENTS A REMOTE USER. I want to provide access to this user to a set of files ON THE SERVER. So i create an account for this user, as Start - programs - admin tools -user manager and then the steps to create an account. When i use this laptop, i log in as administrator as its the default account that came. Now when i want this laptop to be the user i just created on the server, HOW DO I DO THAT?

  • no internet mail group / mail sending and delivery restrictions

    I run a win 2k8 a/d server and an win 2k8 exchange 07 server I have a group called 'No Internet Mail', i made it a distribution group. I tried to setup a transport rule on the exchange server that is configured as follows for outgoing: from a member of no internet mail and sent to users outside the organization redirect the message to administrator and send message refused, forwarded to administrator. Please talk to management for external email use. however , when i enable this it forwards everyones emails to me regardless if they are a member of the no internet mail group or not. not sure what im doing wrong, thanks in advanced.

  • Using a Group Managed Service Account (gMSA) for a scheduled task

    Back in Windows Server 2008 R2, when stand-alone Managed Service Accounts (sMSA) were new, they could not be used to execute scheduled tasks. In Windows Server 2012 however, there is a new type of account called the Group Managed Service Account (gMSA). This type of account is supposedly capable of launching scheduled tasks in the task scheduler on clients & member servers inside of a Windows Server 2012 forest/domain functional level. My question is: How do I configure a Scheduled Task to execute using a Group Managed Service Account (gMSA)?

    In my game, I want to provide a user with drawing feature. By free hand drawing user create a polygon shape. So in my game implementation I have to create body for all found vertices and I have to generate image based on that polygon shape. So my problem is how to create image that match the user provided vertices. In cocos2d I listen that there is an implementation of something like Image Masking. Recently I wanted to add some features to one of my sites, and I need git integration. Usually, to create a new git repository, I'll do something like: $ mkdir proj $ cd proj $ git init Initialized empty Git repository in /home/user/proj/.git/ // here I'm creating the files or copy them from somewhere else $ git add *.php $ git add README $ git commit -m 'initial version' But after creating the repository in virtualmin, I can find a new dir named 'reponame.git' but not the '.git' dir. When I'm trying to run any git command (e.g. git status) I'm receiving "fatal: This operation must be run in a work tree". How can I work with that repository? Currently I need to explicitly grant access for users to be able to view the repositories via gitweb. How can I make certain repositories public?

    is there a function or regex or anything to group items by a { and } tag? so it should group items by the opening tag { and the closing tag }. but be careful, there are also groups inside parent groups like so: group { text1 group2 { text2 } } so basically think of it like php, you make an opening tag, you need to close it with a closing tag, curly braces in php's case. i just need it to like substr() each group into an associative array somehow, except I cant figure it out with the whole, "group inside a parent group".

  • Users in database server or database tables

    Hi all, I came across an interesting issue about client server application design. We have this browser based management application where it has many users using the system. So obvisously within that application we have an user management module within it. I have always thought having an user table in the database to keep all the login details was good enough. However, a senior developer said user management should be done in the database server layer if not then is poorly designed. What he meant was, if a user wants to use the application then a user should be created in the user table AND in the database server as a user account as well. So if I have 50 users using my applications, then I should have 50 database server user logins. I personally think having just one user account in the database server for this database was enough. Just grant this user with the allowed privileges to operate all the necessary operation need by the application. The users that are interacting with the application should have their user accounts created and managed within the database table as they are more related to the application layer. I don't see and agree there is need to create a database server user account for every user created for the application in the user table. A single database server user should be enough to handle all the query sent by the application. Really hope to hear some suggestions / opinions and whether I'm missing something? performance or security issues? Thank you very much.

  • What is the easiest way to get the primary groupName from AD in C#?

    I am currently using PrincipalContext and UserPrincipal to return the users primary groupid. How can I take this id and find the actual group name? Also I have code that works correctly to assign the user's primary group, but once I assign them to the group I can not delete them from Domain Users which is the default primary group prior to my change. I have called Save() before trying to remove the domain users group. My requirements state I must add the user to AD then assign their primary group and then remove them as a member of Domain Users.

    I have an example database, it contains tables for Movies, People and Credits. The Movie table contains a Title and an Id. The People table contains a Name and an Id. The Credits table relates Movies to the People that worked on those Movies, in a particular role. The table looks like this: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Credits] ( [Id] [int] IDENTITY (1, 1) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, [PersonId] [int] NOT NULL FOREIGN KEY REFERENCES People(Id), [MovieId] [int] NOT NULL FOREIGN KEY REFERENCES Movies(Id), [Role] [char] (1) NULL In this simple example, the [Role] column is a single character, by my convention either 'A' to indicate the person was an actor on that particular movie, or 'D' for director. I'd like to perform a query on a particular person that returns the person's name, plus a list of all the movies the person has worked on, and the roles in those movies. If I were to serialize it to json, it might look like this: { "name" : "Clint Eastwood", "movies" : [ { "title": "Unforgiven", "roles": ["actor", "director"] }, { "title": "Sands of Iwo Jima", "roles": ["director"] }, { "title": "Dirty Harry", "roles": ["actor"] }, ... ] } How can I write a LINQ-to-SQL query that shapes the output like that? I'm having trouble doing it efficiently. if I use this query: int personId = 10007; var persons = from p in db.People where p.Id == personId select new { name = p.Name, movies = (from m in db.Movies join c in db.Credits on m.Id equals c.MovieId where (c.PersonId == personId) select new { title = m.Title, role = (c.Role=="D"?"director":"actor") }) }; I get something like this: { "name" : "Clint Eastwood", "movies" : [ { "title": "Unforgiven", "role": "actor" }, { "title": "Unforgiven", "role": "director" }, { "title": "Sands of Iwo Jima", "role": "director" }, { "title": "Dirty Harry", "role": "actor" }, ... ] } ...but as you can see there's a duplicate of each movie for which Eastwood played multiple roles. How can I shape the output the way I want?

    Hello! I'm wondering what would be the typical scenario for using an end-user report designer. What I'm thinking of is to have a base report with all the columns that I can have, also with a basic view of the report (formatting, order of columns, etc.) and then let the user to change that format and order, take out or add (from the available columns) data to it, etc. Is that a common way to address what is called end-user designer for reports or I'm off track? I know it depends on the user (if it's someone that can handle SQL or not for example), but is it common to have a scenario where the user can build everthing from the sql query to the formatting?     Dear, When i login to windows using domain user account, it take a min show welcome and then automatically logoff. I think user profile error, so login with the administrator account and create new local account. When i login using the local user account, it happened the same as domain user account. Only Administrator Level can login to windows. Any know how can i fix this case? Thanks

    I apologise in advance if this has been answered before; it seems so fundamental to me yet I haven't turned up the answer in any of my searches. I have a list of string tuples, say (P1,P2) I'd like to know if there's a LINQ statement where I could group by P1 (in ascending order), and have that group contain all the P2 values for the group (in descending order). For input: ("A","B"), ("A","C"), ("D","B") I'd like to get two groups: "A" and "D" (in that order, every time) where group "A" contains "C" and "B" (in that order, every time) and group "D" contains, well, "B". Is this possible with the built-in LINQ classes or do I need to iterate the groups and sort them myself? Sounds like hard work~

  • How do I save user specific data in an asp.net site?

    I just set up user profiles using asp.net 3.5 using wvd. For each user I would like to store data that they will be updating every day. For example, every time they go for a run they will update time and distance. I intend to allow them to also look up their history of distance and time from any past date. My question is, what does the database schema usually look like for such a set up? Currently asp.net set up a db for me when I made user profiles. Do I just add an extra table for every user? Should there be one big table with all users data? How do I relate a user I'd to their specific data? Etc.... I have never done this before so any ideas on how this is usually done would be very helpful. Thank you.
