• Recommendations on a WPF Docking Library

  We are implementing an application that needs dockable windows, similar to Visual Studio 2005/2008, but with multiple "docking sites", unlike VS's single one. Does anyone have a recommendation on a good library for this - either OSS or commercial? I am aware that Infragistics has one, as well as Divelement's SandDock and WPF-Dock from DevComponents, as well as ActiPro's Docking & MDI product. There is also one on CodeProject. Has anyone used any of these libraries? Was the experience good or bad? If you have experience with one of them, does it support multiple "docking sites"?

• Automatically number items in a wpf listbox

  I have a person class with two properties, Name an Age. I know how to use databinding to display a collection of person in a wpf list box and how to modify the listitemtemplate to customize how each person is displayed. Now I'd like to number each person on the list according to the order they appear on the list (which could change as the the items were sorted via name or age in the display). • ComboBox WPF Databinding to a DataView

  Hello Everyone! Lets say I have one ComboBox and 2 TextBox items on my GUI. And I have one DataView with data (City, PostalCode, Street, ID). While initializing the whole thing I fill my DataView with some data :) City 1, 11111, Street 1, 1 City 1, 22222, Street 2, 2 City 1, 33333, Street 3, 3 Now I want to bind this to my ComboBox. DataView is a Class Member called "m_dvAdresses", but this code doesnt help: ItemsSource="{Binding Source=m_dvAdresses}" SelectedValuePath="ID" DisplayMemberPath="Street" Also I want to have my 2 ComboBox items to show PostalCode and City, depending on what to i pick in my ComboBox. Like if I pick "Street 2", TextBox1 show me "City 1" and TexBox2 show me "22222"... How can I bind all of them ONLY in the WPF code? Thanks for help!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  I want to show the wait cursor before my WPF application, composed using CAL, fully loads. • How do I use global resources in WPF?

  I have a WPF application which I would like to use some static resources in. I have created a Resource Library XAML file which contains a resource. I have also added a string into the Resources of the project through the Properties panel. I assumed I could just use these resources with the binding expression: {StaticResource ResourceName} But visual studio is telling me the resources are not found. Do I have to include some form of reference in my XAML? The examples I have seen only include resources locally such as: <Window.Resources>, <Page.Resources> etc I don't want to include the resources locally because I want them to be available to multiple parts of the application.

  In the MVVM pattern for WPF, handling dialogs is one of the more complex operations. As your view model does not know anything about the view, dialog communication can be interesting. I can expose an ICommand that when the view invokes it, a dialog can appear. Does anyone know of a good way to handle results from dialogs? I am speaking about windows dialogs such as MessageBox. One of the ways we did this was have an event on the viewmodel that the view would subscribe to when a dialog was required. public event EventHandler<MyDeleteArgs> RequiresDeleteDialog; This is OK, but it means that the view requires code which is something I would like to stay away from.

• Trouble with creating WPF window extended on the title area (like Office 2007/2010)

  I want to make WPF window extended on the title area (like Office 2007/2010). I implemented DwmWindow (see DwmTest.zip) where I put required stuff. Commonly, it works fine except one disgusting thing: the window appears as white rectangle (see DwmIssue.png) and after a few second this rectangle disappears and the content of the window is shown (see DwmIssueCorrect.png). This bug is essential only for my window. If I remove this lines it works fine (without it aero will not showed on title): HwndSource mainWindowSrc = HwndSource.FromHwnd(handle); if (mainWindowSrc != null) mainWindowSrc.CompositionTarget.BackgroundColor = Colors.Transparent; NativeMethods.MARGINS margins = new NativeMethods.MARGINS(0, 50, 0, 0); NativeMethods.DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea(handle, margins); How can I eliminate this white rectangle? I have a WPF application, in each of my usercontrols / windows I am currently putting the following code in xaml in the header... xmlns:properties="clr-namespace:MaxCut2.Properties" This particular properties namespace I use in every window / usercontrol in my project and I would have thought that if I had put the code in my App.xaml, it would have been exposed to all the child windows/uc's - but it doesn't seem to work. Is there a way that I can expose this without having to declare it in every file in XAML?

• How to manage toolbars with mvvm and WPF

  I'm looking for a smooth method of managing toolbars (and menus) with mvvm in WPF. Consider an UI with tabbed workspaces and heterogenous content (like Visual Studio). There the toolbars should be hidden or visible depending on the active tab. How would you design the view viewmodel for the toolbars? I'd use a collection of toolbar-viewmodels and bind the ToolbarTray to it, but afaik that's not possible. Any recommendations are apreciated.   I am trying to embed an icon into my my WPF application so that I can pull it out for use as an icon in the Window 7 JumpList using the following code: newScene.IconResourcePath = System.Reflection.Assembly.GetEntryAssembly().Location; newScene.IconResourceIndex = 0; I've gotten it to work using the following method: http://dennisdel.com/?p=38 However, it doesn't seem like the best approach and it seems like there should be an easier way to embed an icon resource into my application while still leaving the "Icon and Manifest" option checked in the Application properties for my program. I've tried numerous methods including setting the icon build action as a resource and an embedded resource, but every time I open my .exe in a resource editor, the icon does not appear. Any suggestions?

• WPF: How to efficiently update an Image 30 times per second

  Hello, I'm writing a WPF application that uses a component, and this component returns a pointer (IntPtr) to pixels of a bitmap (stride * height). I know in advance that the bitmap is a 24bits rgb, its width and height. Updating the Image control with these bitmaps makes up a video to the user, but I'm not sure what's the most efficient way to do that, most of the time the CPU usage goes to 75%+ and memory changing from 40mb to 500mb and the nI think GC starts to work and then it drops again to 40mm. The app starts to not be responsive. What shoud I do? thanks!

  I have a custom font family embedded in my WPF application which I can reference by specifying a base URI and font family name. new FontFamily(new Uri("pack://application:,,,/Fonts/"), "./#My Custom Font Family"); However, when I copy a selection which uses this font the xaml on the clipboard resembles the following <Run Text="Foo" FontFamily="./#My Custom Font Family" /> When I paste into the same RichTextBox I lose the font as it falls back to the system default because - When a FontFamily is specified as an attribute in markup, the base URI value is always implied—its value is the URI of the XAML page. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.media.fontfamily.aspx and my xaml page is not located in the same directory as the custom font family. Any ideas for a workaround?

• WPF TextBlock Overflow Text to the Left

  As background I have a very long ID that too long to display in the given area of the TextBlock. The interesting portion of the ID is the end, that is the rightmost portion. What I would like to do is have the TextBlock, rather than the text overflowing right and cutting off the rightmost portion, overflow left and cutoff the leftmost portion. That is given the ID 123456 and a TextBlock with enough space to hold four characters, to get the TextBlock to display 3456 rather than 1234 as it does by default. I could manually trim my ID for display, but given a variable spaced font that's not ideal. So is there someway to get WPF do change the overflow direction?

• [WPF] Drag and drop between 2 popups

  Our application is a WPF (4.0) AppBar docked to the top of the desktop. Various buttons in the AppBar produce Popups containing various data (in ListBoxes). I am trying to implement drag and drop of items between 2 Popups. It's pretty standard boiler plate stuff using Josh Smith's draggable ListBox that I've used half a dozen times before. Drag is initiating correctly, but the target Popup is not receiving the DragOver or Drop. Is this a focus issue? Or is there something else at work here?

• Is there a more efficient way to retrieve tables from websites using wpf + webclient

  new to the community, but here is my first question that I am stuck on. I am new to WPF and WebClient using c# and I am attempting to make a program that access www.nba.com to populate a combobox I have with team names, and then when a user selects a team from the combobox, I wanted to populate a portion of the main window with the roster from the teams home site, same style and eveything. I was able to populate the combobox using the WebClient.OpenRead and reading in the markup to extract the team names. Now I am on the more difficult part. I was planning on using the same method to grab all the markup and then somehow display the table in a content panel, but I feel that this is a very tedious thing to do. Can anyone give me any tips for completing this action or is there a method in the webclient class that allows me to search a webpage for a table or object other than text? Thanks.

• WPF application in obj directory doesn't work.

  When I build my WPF application the exe that ends up in the bin directory works just fine, but the one in the obj directory does not. When I Debug the exe from the obj directory I get the following exception: TypeInitializationException was unhandled: The type initializer for 'MyProject.App' threw an exception. So basically I'm wondering why the obj exe doesn't work while the bin one does (I was under the assumption that the obj exe was just copied to the bin) and how to fix it. The reason that I even care is because I'm using Wix to create a MSI for my application and I have a Votive project setup that uses var.MyProject.TargetPath which points to the exe in the obj directory.

• WPF webbrowser - get HTML downloaded?

  I'm listening to the WPF webbrowser's LoadCompleted event. It has some navigation arguments which provide details regarding the navigation. However, e.Content is always null. Am I paying attention to the wrong event here? How can I fetch the HTML that was just downloaded as string? I tried some things which I would consider hacks, but they return a string of HTML, even though that was not the string downloaded. For instance, with that method when I go to a page which just sends me the string abc, I get the result <document><body>abc</body></document> or something similar. I would prefer not getting into any more hacks than nescessary to get this running.

The tree looks like this: SurfaceWindow --- Startscreen ..........................-------- Page---------- Subpage I'm trying to call a method from the "Subpage" from the "Code Behind" of the Startscreen(Startscreen.xaml.cs). The method from the Subpage looks like this: public void showTheme(ThemeViewModel theme) { ... } If know that I can call it when I'm on the "Page" or the "SurfaceWindow", because it's in the same "branch" of the tree, and I just do something like this: ThemeViewModel theme = (ThemeViewModel)mvm.CurrentItem.ThemeViewModel; katalog.katalogblatt.showTheme(theme); But how do I do it when I'm not on the same branch of the tree and want to call the method?
