    I am looking for seminal and excellent examples of libraries and projects that emulate the good practices of the Java Concurrency in Practice book. The book is marvelous. However, I think supplementing this book reading with code reviews of projects and libraries that make use of the concurrency APIs effectively is necessary to drive the concepts into the brain.     let's say I have a list li = [{'q':'apple','code':'2B'}, {'q':'orange','code':'2A'}, {'q':'plum','code':'2A'}] What is the most efficient way to return the count of unique "codes" in this list? In this case, the unique codes is 2, because only 2B and 2A are unique. I could put everything in a list and compare, but is this really efficient?

  • Parse error after upgrading to PHP 5.3

    I have a php code that works well in PHP 5.2 but throwing "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '}'" after upgrading to PHP 5.3. When I use echo/print or heredocs to print all the HTML part of the code, the error is gone. My question is, why this error occurred? Is this mean that in PHP 5.3 we are no longer allowed to put HTML code inside PHP code? The program fails at any trying to do something with Ogre::LogManager::getSingletonPtr() object with code User program stopped by signal (SIGSEGV) I checked that getSingletonPtr() returns address 0x000 But using code Utils::get_mutable_instance().getHandle().write("foo") works good in another part of program. What's wrong could be there with calling singletons?

  • Java ME Runnable object takes up memory although not made an instance yet

    I am facing a strange problem with memory in Java ME. here is a part of my code: int variable=1; while (true) { if (variable==2) { display = Display.getDisplay(this); MyCanvas mc = new MyCanvas(this); // MyCanvas is a runnable object mcT = new Thread(mc); // new thread for MyCanvas mc.repaint(); display.setCurrent(mc); mcT.start(); // run thread } if (variable==1) { // Do some other stuff } } The problem is that although still the variable is set to 1, so it does not come through the if (variable==2) condition the program consumes 300kB more memory than when I delete the code after condition if (variable==2). As far as I know the code should by executed and the objects shall be created only when I set variable to value 2. But it consumes the memory also when the code after condition "if (variable==2)" is not executed. Why does this happen?

    I am trying to get the version/build that is running on the simulator via code. Basically I am checking various features of my app using the simulator, and want to switch code paths on and off based on which SDK do I have set as current, instead than doing it by hand every time (my testing machine has different version of the SDK on it and I switch the current for testing purposes between 4.1 and 5.1). So the idea is that when the app launch on the simulator, I can read the build of the SDK and know trough matching (I have a function that does the matching and turn on and off the features) if I should run a specific code path or not. I know how to figure out if I am running on the sim or on a device, but cannot find references about how to get the version of the SDK via code, so I am basically stuck. Is there any function that I can call and that returns me the build or version of the currently installed iOS, while I am running the app on the simulator?

  • How to force calling of QWidget::paintEvent() when its hovered by other window?

    Hi there. I have occured a problem: I'm writing a widget, which displays current date's day number. It's like a button, but it's not derived from QPushButton class. Just from QWidget. So I reimplemented enterEvent(), leaveEvent(), mousePressEvent(), mouseReleaseEvent(). I call update() inside these methods and widget has realistic button behavior (paintEvent() is reimplemented too). But when I change system date and hover that widget with other window, my widget doesn't calls paintEvent() and displays old date. Only when I place mouse over it, widget repaints it's contents. I guess there is an option, which paints old contents on hover event to avoid unnecessary paint events. But I need to disable it. Tried to set many attributes (Qt::WidgetAttribute enum). But it doesn't helps. Please, help me (and sorry for my bad english).

    I'm trying to remove a dynamic form field by click a button. It will also subtract whatever values it had from the total amount from my calculation. If I comment out the rest of the code it will work, but not with the rest of the code. I know this is something simple, yet I can't seem to wrap my mind around it. Can someone please help?
