  • Why is the sudden increase in number of Git submitters on Debian popcorn graph in 2010-01?

    Almost every article I've read 1 comparing Git and Mercurial it seems like Mercurial has a better command line UX with each command being limited to one idea only (unlike say git checkout). But at some point Git suddenly became looking super popular and number of Git submitters on Debian popcorn graph (see graph image below) literally exploded. Source: Debian What happened in 2010-01 that things suddenly changed. Looks like GitHub was founded earlier than that - 2008.

    Hey all, recently I installed the Minecraft .jar and played it. It's a bit of fun, but the coolest thing about it IMO has been the anaglyph 3D option. Yay, a ViewMaster game! Anyway, I'm looking for other anaglyph 3D games and apps. I understand that there's an anaglyph plugin for Compiz as well, although it apparently is an inactive project since 2008. An anaglyph interface for Blender would be severely awesome, right?

    RESTful interfaces for web services are all the rage for many Web 2.0 sites.  If you want to consume these in a very simple fashion, LINQ to XML can do the job pretty easily in C#.  If you go searching for help on this, youll find a lot of incomplete solutions and fairly large toolkits and frameworks (guess how I know this) this quick article is meant to be a no fluff just stuff approach to making this work.     Many of us have probably seen the new SQL Server 2012 per core licensing, with Enterprise Edition at $6,874 per core super ceding the $27,495 per socket of SQL Server 2008 R2 (discounted to $19,188 for 4-way and $23,370 for 2-way in TPC benchmark reports) with Software Assurance at $6,874 per processor? Datacenter was $57,498 per processor, so the new per-core licensing puts 2012 EE on par with 2008R2 DC, at 8-cores per socket.   • dot42 vs Xamarin to develop in C# for Android phones [on hold]

    does anyone have experience with both dot42 and Xamarin to develop C# apps for Android? Could you please say why one should prefer one over the other? I like the free Visual Studio integration that is offered by dot42 (while Xamarin requires a subscription for this, and the business one which is quite expensive).     I got this when I tried to install the source code on Windows Server 2008 R2, and this was an issue with EntLib 4.0 as well. The solution is the same now as it was then, but since I had a new OS install I didn't recreate the fix.
