    Hi everyone, I followed this tutorial http://blog.ulf-wendel.de/?p=215#hello. I tried both on Visual C++ 2008 and Visual C++ 2010. Either static or dynamic, the compiler gave me the same exact error messages: error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _get_driver_instance Has anyone experience this issue before?   • Data in linux FIFO seems lost

    Hi, I have a bash script which wants to do some work in parallel, I did this by putting each job in an subshell which is run in the background. While the number of job running simultaneously should under some limit, I achieve this by first put some lines in a FIFO, then just before forking the subshell, the parent script is required to read a line from this FIFO. Only after it gets a line can it fork the subshell. Up to now, everything works fine. But when I tried to read a line from the FIFO in the subshell, it seems that only one subshell can get a line, even if there are apparently more lines in the FIFO. So I wonder why cannot other subshell(s) read a line even when there are more lines in the FIFO.     Hi all, I have the following codes in my page. The style variable holds the custom style. <cfchart chartheight="450" chartwidth="550" gridlines="9" yaxistitle="Score" scalefrom="20" scaleto="100" style="#style#" format="png" > <cfchartseries query="variables.chart_query" type="scatter" seriescolor="##000000" itemcolumn="MyItem" valuecolumn="MyScore"/> </cfchart> Before I begin, please go to http://www.monteandjanicechan.com/chart_good.jpg. This is how I want my report to come up. On the x-axis, there will always be three items as long as at least one of them has values. If an item does not have any values (i.e. 2010), there would not be a marker in the chart. The problem occurs only when only one item has value. Please see http://www.monteandjanicechan.com/chart_bad.jpg. As you can see, 2008 and 2010 do not have any values; y-axis is now scaled from 0 to 100. I have tried setting one of the items (ex. 2008) a value of 0 or something off the chart; it would scale according to this off-the-chart value and the 2009 value. In short, I have to have at least two items with values between 20 and 100 in order for cfchart to scale from 20 to 100. My question is, how can I correct the issue so that cfchart would ALWAYS scale from 20 to 100? I am running CF9. Thanks in advance, Monte

    cfhttp with a get to download the files. Does anyone have an example of cfhttp working? Are there special settings that need to be set up on the server side to get this tag to work.   • How to set default date in date_select helper in Rails

    I'm trying to set up a date of birth helper in my Rails app (2.3.5). At present it is like so. <%= f.date_select :date_of_birth, :start_year => Time.now.year - 110, :end_year => Time.now.year %> This generates a perfectly functional set of date fields that work just fine but.... They default to today's date which is not ideal for a date of birth field (I'm not sure what is but unless you're running a neonatal unit today's date seems less than ideal). I want it to read Jan 1 2010 instead (or 2011 or whatever year it happens to be). Using the :default option has proven unsuccessful. I've tried many possibilities including; <%= f.date_select :date_of_birth, :default => {:year => Time.now.year, :month => 'Jan', :day => 1}, :start_year => Time.now.year - 110, :end_year => Time.now.year %> and <%= f.date_select :date_of_birth, :default => Time.local(2010,'Jan',1), :start_year => Time.now.year - 110, :end_year => Time.now.year %> None of this changes the behaviour of the first example. Does the default option actually work as described? It seems that this should be a fairly straightforward thing to do. Ta.

    Scenario: Programmer creates a branch for project 'foo' called 'my_foo' at revision 5 Programmer makes multiple changes to multiple files as he works on the 'my_foo' feature. At the end of each major step, say adding several new functions to class, the programmer does an svn commit on the appropriate files therefore committing them to the branch After several weeks and many commits later (each commit having a commit log describing what he did), the programmer merges the branch back into the trunk: #Assume the following is being done from inside a working copy of the trunk: svn merge -r 5:15 file:///path/to/repo/branches/my_foo Hazzah! he's merged all his changes back into trunk! There's much rejoicing and drinking of Mountain Dew. Now let's say another programmer comes along a week later and updates their working copy from revision 5 to revision 15. "Wow", they say. "I wonder what's changed since revision 5".     I have a perl script that is run with a command like this: /path/to/binary/executable | /path/to/perl/script.pl The script does useful things to the output for the binary file, then exits once STDIN runs out (< returns undef). This is all well and good, except if the binary exits with a non-zero code. From the script's POV, it thinks the script just ended cleanly, and so it cleans up, and exits, with a code of 0. Is there a way for the perl script to see what the exit code was? Ideally, I'd want something like this to work: # close STDIN, and if there was an error, exit with that same error. unless (close STDIN) { print "error closing STDIN: $!   • deploy a sinatra app with passenger gives only 404, page not founds. Yet a simple rack app works.

    I have correctly (or prbably not) installed passenger on apache 2. Rack works, but sinatra keeps giving 404's. Here is what works: config.ru: #app = proc do |env| return [200, { "Content-Type" => "text/html" }, "hello <b>world</b>"] end run app Here is what works too: Running the app.rb (see below) with ruby app.rb and then looking at localhost:4567/about and / restarting the app, gives me a correct hello world. w00t. But then there is the sinatra entering the building: config.ru require 'rubygems' require 'sinatra' root_dir = File.dirname(__FILE__) set :environment, ENV['RACK_ENV'].to_sym set :root, root_dir set :app_file, File.join(root_dir, 'app.rb') disable :run run Sinatra::Application and an app.rb require 'rubygems' require 'sinatra' get '/' do "Hallo wereld!" end get '/about' do "Hello world, it's #{Time.now} at the server!" end This keeps giving 404s. /var/logs/apache2/error.log lists these correctly as "404" with something that worries me: 83.XXXXXXXXX - - [30/May/2010 16:06:52] "GET /about " 404 18 0.0007 83.XXXXXXXXX - - [30/May/2010 16:06:56] "GET / " 404 18 0.0007 The thing that worried me, is the space after the / and the /about. Would apache or sinatra go looking for /[space], like /%20? If anyone knows what this problem relates to, maybe a known bug (that I could not find) or a known gotcha? Maybe I am just being stupid and getting "it all wrong?" Otherwise any hints on where to get, read or log more developers data on a running rack, sinatra or passenger app would be helpfull too: to see what sinatra is looking for, for example. Some other information: Running ubuntu 9.04, apache2-mm-prefork (deb), mod_php5, ruby 1.8.7, passenger 2.2.11, sinatra 1.0

  • Is using SharePoint as a intranet/extranet portal a good idea?

    I work for a fortune 500 company in IT and we have developed many systems/applications to do a variety of things. We are in need of some commonality of these applications and a better portal/dashboard/landing page for these applications. So, our customers and employees would log into this portal and see all the "things" that they can do which then link to their own application. This could maybe just iframe in each application inside of this portal to keep brand and navigation consistency. We are trying to decide whether to use SharePoint 2007 or 2010 for this or develop a portal/dashboard of sorts in house. We would like this portal to look and feel very branded to our needs and really not even feel like its using SharePoint (if needed). An example is to provide our own Menu control that drives the navigation if needed. Does anyone have any pros/cons for using SharePoint in such a way? Any advice on implementation (e.g. use 2010, much easier to customize design than 2007, etc)?

    We have developed an ASP.NET website on a Windows 7 - 32 bit platform using Visual Studio 2008. This website is being hosted at a hosting company where we share a server with hundreds of other ASP.NET websites. We are in the process of changing our hosting to a dedicated Windows 2008 - 64 bit server. We have installed Visual Studio on this new server in order to debug our application. If we try to start the application on this new server using Visual Studios 2008's own web server (not IIS 7) we get the error below. We have tried to compile the application in both 32 as well as 64 bit mode. We also tried to compile to "Any CPU". But nothing helps.     I am trying to figure out this fullcalendar and how to get events from database. I am using asp .net I am using a webservice that has something like this. I am just trying to put a test record first then I will tie it to the database once i get it working. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks alot!
