    I am working in RAD 7.5.0 and using websphere 7.0 Server. When I try to start the server facing below issue.     In a normal aspx page I've set up a jquery tab system. When a particular tab shows up I wire up an ajax call to get another html page with the following content. The btnupdate is supposed to show the contents in the update div and load the form for accepting user input. Whenever I hit btnupdate button I get an object not found exception on IE 8. IE 8 asks if it should start up its in-built debuggger. But, even in this debugger I cannot see what the problem is...However on clicking "No" in that dialog the button click function executes properly, and the form is displayed as intended. Is there a better way to resolve the problem?

  • WinMo > ASMX WebException - how to get details?

    Okay, we've got an application which consists of a website hosting several ASMX webservices, and a handheld application running on WinMo 6.1 which calls the webservices. Been developing in the office, everything works perfect. Now we've gone to install it at the client's and we got all the servers set up and the handhelds installed. However the handhelds are now no longer able to connect to the webservice. I added in extra code in my error handler to specifically trap WebException exceptions and handle them differently in the logging to put out extra information (.Status and .Response). I am getting out the status, which is returning a [7], or ProtocolError. However when I try to read out the ResponseStream (using WebException.Response.GetResponseStream), it is returning a stream with CanRead set to False, and I thus am unable to get any further details of what is going wrong. So I guess there are two things I am asking for help with... a) Any help with trying to get more information out of the WebException? b) What could be causing a ProtocolError exception? Things get extra complicated by the fact that the client has a full-blown log-in-enabled proxy setup going on-site. This was stopping all access to the website initially, even from a browser. So we entered in the login details in the network connection for HTTP on the WinMo device. Now it can get to websites fine. In fact, I can even pull up the webservice fine and call the methods from the browser (PocketIE). So I know the device is able to see the webservices okay via HTTP. But when trying to call them from the .NET app, it throws ProtocolError [7]. Here is my code which is logging the exception and failing to read out the Response from the WebException.   • chrome extension login security with iframe

    I should note, I'm not a chrome extension expert. However, I'm looking for some advice or high level solution to a security concern I have with my chrome extension. I've searched quite a bit but can't seem to find a concrete answer. The situation I have a chrome extension that needs to have the user login to our backend server. However, it was decided for design reasons that the default chrome popup balloon was undesirable. Thus I've used a modal dialog and jquery to make a styled popup that is injected with content scripts. Hence, the popup is injected into the DOM o the page you are visiting. The Problem Everything works, however now that I need to implement login functionality I've noticed a vulnerability: If the site we've injected our popup into knows the password fields ID they could run a script to continuously monitor the password and username field and store that data. Call me paranoid, but I see it as a risk. In fact,I wrote a mockup attack site that can correctly pull the user and password when entered into the given fields. My devised solution I took a look at some other chrome extensions, like Buffer, and noticed what they do is load their popup from their website and, instead, embed an iFrame which contains the popup in it. The popup would interact with the server inside the iframe. My understanding is iframes are subject to same-origin scripting policies as other websites, but I may be mistaken. As such, would doing the same thing be secure? TLDR To simplify, if I embedded an https login form from our server into a given DOM, via a chrome extension, are there security concerns to password sniffing? If this is not the best way to deal with chrome extension logins, do you have suggestions with what is? Perhaps there is a way to declare text fields that javascript can simply not interact with?   • How do I show information to users belonging to different groups (web) in modx

    Hello Everyone, I have created a website using modx evolution v1.0.2. The website that I have developed has 12 different types of users (categorized in groups). Each user will be shown a different price depending on the group to which he belongs. Till now I have been able to fetch the group name of current logged in user (created a snippet for that), but how can I achieve the above mentioned functionality so that each user should be able to see only the price that I have coded according to his group. For example: If a user is associated with the 'ocassional' group then he should be shown the price as , say, 50 bucks and if a user is associated with the 'regular' group then he should be shown the price as, say, 40 bucks I can easily do this by coding a single snippet for every product's variant, but there are a lot of variants (more than 100 and growing). I have created a resource(page) for every product and it's variant. Every variant has a price. It is this price that I want to be shown according to the logged in user group membership. I hope I am able to explain my query clearly. Please help me do this functionality. Thanks

  • Workaround iPhone's browser not honoring the <label> element

    Hi, Just ran into this recently and I thought it'd be helpful to share. The HTML <label> element is supported in a weird way by iPhone's (v3) browser. Try this: <input type="checkbox" id="chkTest" /><label for="chkTest">Click me!</label> Tapping the "Click me!" label has no effect, the checkbox is not checked. Lack of support in a touch device for <label> elements puzzled me and I tried to overcome this issue by using javascript. The surprise came when a I noticed a void javascript like the one below also did the trick: <input type="checkbox" id="chkTest" /><label for="chkTest" onclick="javascript:void(0);">Click me!</label> HTH Further info: Also works with an empty handler: onclick="" Disabling JavaScript inactivates again the label, even if using the empty handler.

  • ASP.net Error in Design Mode

    I just switched to VS 2010, and upgraded a previous project. I'm getting the following error on a page in design mode for 2 controls: Error Creating Control - ObjectName Object reference not set to an instance of an object. One of them is a simple label, and the other is a ajax update panel. Other pages look fine. When I build and test the app, the page renders fine in the browser and functions fine - the label functions as expected and the content in the update panel works as expected. Any ideas why I'm getting this error? I tried some of the google results to no avail. It'd be great to get this out of the way. Thanks!

  • WCF: limit number of calls per hour - per user

    Hi guys, I've got a WCF service (basicHttpBinding, basic authentication, IIS 6.0) on which I want to restrict the number of calls per hour - on user basis. For example, max 1000 calls per user, per hour (a la Google Maps, etc). I also want to implement some sort of subscription mechanism, so that users can upgrade their call-limit across various 'price plans'. I know that I could achieve this with a custom Inspector, backed by a DB containing some sort of 'subscription' table and a counter, but I'd like to avoid reinventing the wheel. Does anyone have experience doing this? Are there 3rd party projects/libraries that support this out of the box? Thanks. Eric

Best practice #1: A short time delay that increases with the number of failed attempts, like: 1 failed attempt = no delay 2 failed attempts = 2 sec delay 3 failed attempts = 4 sec delay 4 failed attempts = 8 sec delay 5 failed attempts = 16 sec delay etc. DoS attacking this scheme would be very impractical, but on the other hand, potentially devastating, since the delay increases exponentially. I am curious how I could implement something like this for my login system in PHP?

    Hi, I want to scrape data from www.marktplaats.nl . I want to analyze the scraped description, price, date and views in Excel/Access. I tried to scrape data with Ruby (nokogiri, scrapi) but nothing worked. (on other sites it worked well) The main problem is that for example selectorgadget and the add-on firebug (Firefox) don’t find any css I can use to scrape the page. On other sites I can extract the css with selectorgadget or firebug and use it with nokogiri or scrapi. Due to lack of experience it is difficult to identify the problem and therefore searching for a solution isn’t easy. Can you tell me where to start solving this problem and where I maybe can find more info about a similar scraping process? Thanks in advance!

    I'm kind of disappointed at Ria Services. I like to work in a domain driven design way, so for example if I'm working with an invoicing system I have an object invoice which will have all methods on it to for example calculate total price from its invoice rows. public decimal Amount { get {return Entries.Sum(x => x.Amount);} } I like to have methods to add a new row to validate in data. public void AddInvoiceRow(Article article, decimal quantity) This is functionality I need on both client and server side. Have I missed something big or is RIA Services not for me? (In the whole, I don't like Silverlight restrictions at all, I mean that we need get; set on every data field we want to transfer for example some fields are not public at all in domain driven design but the technique Silverlight offers forcing us to do bad coding.)

    Does any one know if it is possible to use the Default Google Scatter Chart in the Google Visualizations Gallery to draw a scatter chart that has both a series with points only, a series with a line of best fit and on top of this a set of lines across the chart indicating limits. i.e. at +/- 20% etc. The chart we need is actually a Control Chart with multiple series and individual formatting of each series displayed on the chart. i.e some series with only points other series with a line of best fit. Does any one know of a Control Chart that has already been done using the Google Visualization API?

    We have developed an ASP.NET website on a Windows 7 - 32 bit platform using Visual Studio 2008. This website is being hosted at a hosting company where we share a server with hundreds of other ASP.NET websites. We are in the process of changing our hosting to a dedicated Windows 2008 - 64 bit server. We have installed Visual Studio on this new server in order to debug our application. If we try to start the application on this new server using Visual Studios 2008's own web server (not IIS 7) we get the error below.
