    - by Julien
Hi all, I have a problem with a Javascript request to the Google Map Api Web Service : if I have the HTML file on my computer it works, but it doesn't work online. Here's the code : url = 'http://maps.google.com/maps/api/geocode/json?address=Senador+Francisco+Quindimil+Y+Carabobo+Por+Carabobo,Ciudad+Autonoma+de+Buenos+Aires,Argentina&sensor=false'; $.get(url, function(data) { $('#result').html(data); alert('Load was performed.'); }, 'text'); This sample is just supposed to load the "data" in the "result" element. When it is offline, the "data" has text, but not when it is online. Sample here : Online Web Service Test Could one of you guys help ? Thanks a lot !

  • IE7 & IE8 error executing function with ajax

    - by Yahreen
I am loading an ajax page which executes an HTML5 video player script. The function for the Flash fallback is html5media(); : //Load 1st Case Study $("#splash").live('click', function (e) { $(this).fadeOut('slow', function () { $('#case-studies').load('case-study-1.html', function() { html5media(); //initiate Flash fallback }).fadeIn(); }); e.preventDefault(); }); This initial page load works fine in IE7 & IE8. The problem is once this page is loaded, there are links to 4 more videos which are loaded in again using ajax. I use this function: //Switcher function csClients(url, client) { $("#case-studies").fadeOut('slow', function() { $('#case-studies').load(url, function () { html5media(); //initiate Flash fallback }).fadeIn(); }); } //Page Loader $("#cs-client-list li.client1 a").live('click', function(e) { csClients('case-study-1.html', 'client1'); e.preventDefault(); }); Originally I was using return false; but none of the sub-page Flash videos would load in IE7. When I switched to preventDefault, the videos loaded in IE7 but still not in IE8. I also get a weird error in both IE7 & IE8 with no helpful feedback: Error on Page: Unspecified error. / (Line 49) Code: 0 (Char 5) URI: http://www.mysite.com This is line 49 in my index page: <section id="case-studies" class="main-section"> I have a feeling it has to do with calling html5media(); too many times? At a loss...

  • javascript array/object issue

    - by FlyingCat
I am trying to push elements to an array. for (a=0; a < test.length; a++){ if(this.testnumber != test[a].number){ //it will only loop 8 times under conditional statement group = { title: test.Title , ID: test.ID, contents: [] }; this.company.push(group); this.testnumber = test.number[a]; } //outside of if conditional statement.. it will loop 15 times //i want every test[a].conetents get pushed to group.contents array. //this.company is the final variable I need for this function... group.contents.push(test[a].contents); } However, when I do console.log(this.company); I see 8 elmements with only 1 element in each group.contents array The ideal situation is to have 8 elements with 2 to 3 elements in the group.contents array I hope I explain my situation well. Any idea how to solve my issue? Thanks a lot!

  • Live asynchronous time feed for websites

    - by Maven
I want to show up the time over my website based over the location of the user, let’s say if user one browsing the website is from USA than the time should be what is in USA currently and same for China etc. and all. I was wondering if there exists a JavaScript plugin for it but I didn’t find any as dynamic as I want, my requirements include: Something that can be fully stylized according to website theme (no iframes) The pattern I want is to be in (HH:MM:SS) It should be asynchronous like the second [SS] keep ticking and the time keep updating Is this possible, a way around to achieve it?

  • Image swaping with click on <tr>

    - by Jonny Sooter
    I've edited this piece of code from the Data Tables Plugin witch makes a tr click able and pops open another tr with details from the clicked tr. This piece of code is the event listener for opening and closing. When "details" are open the img should be images/details_close.png and they are closed the img should be images/details_open.png and have a swap occurring when it opens and closes when clicked. What is happening is there is no swap going on when its open or closed I still only get the "details_open.png". I don't knoe if I'm just not selecting the img tag properly or whats going on. Link to project: http://www2.kent.k12.wa.us/ksd/it/www/mobile/elementary.html $('#example tbody').on('click', 'td', function (e) { var myImage = $(this).find("img"); var nTr = $(this).parents('tr')[0]; if ( oTable.fnIsOpen(nTr) ) { /* This row is already open - close it */ myImage.src = "images/details_open.png"; oTable.fnClose( nTr ); } else { /* Open this row */ myImage.src = "images/details_close.png"; oTable.fnOpen( nTr, fnFormatDetails(oTable, nTr), 'details' ); } } );

  • Why doesn't the .click() not work in this instance?

    - by Deshiknaves
    Basically what this does is fadeIn pre-existing divs and then loads an image. When the image is loaded it then appends that into one of the pre-existing divs. Then it appends a new div with an id of xButton. Then later it $('#xButton').click() should hide the 3 divs. However it just doesn't work. If I change the click() to either #modalImage or #overlay, it works but just not for the #xButton. I would really like to figure out why its not working and how I should be doing this instead. Thanks. $(function(){ $('#container a').click(function(e){ e.preventDefault(); var id = $(this).attr('href'), img = new Image(); $('#overlay').fadeIn(function(){ $('#modalImage').fadeIn(); }); $(img).load(function(){ $(this).hide(); $('#modalImage').removeClass('loader').append(this); $(this).fadeIn(function(){ var ih = $(this).outerHeight(), iw = $(this).outerWidth(), newH = ($(window).height()/10)*7, newW = ($(window).width()/10)*7; if (ih >= iw && ih >= newH) { $(this).css('height',newH + 'px'); $(this).css('width', 'auto'); } else if (ih >= iw && newH > ih) { $(this).css('height', ih + 'px'); $(this).css('width', 'auto'); } else if (iw > ih && iw >= newW) { if ((newW / (iw / ih)) > newH) { $(this).css('width', 'auto'); $(this).css('height', newH + 'px'); } else { $(this).css('width', newW + 'px'); $(this).css('height', 'auto'); } } else { $(this).css('width', iw + 'px'); $(this).css('height', 'auto'); } var padW = ($(window).width() - $(this).outerWidth()) / 2, padH = ($(window).height() - $(this).outerHeight()) / 2; console.log (padH + ' ' + padW); $(this).css('top', padH); $(this).css('left', padW); if($('#overlay').is(":visible") == true) { ih = ih + 4; $('<div id="xButton">x</div>').appendTo('#modalImage'); if (padH >= 0) { $('#xButton').css('top', padH - 4).css('right', padW - 65); } else { $('#xButton').css('top', '20px').css('right', padW - 65); } } }); }).attr('src', id); }); $('#xButton').click(function(){ $(this).hide(); $('#overlay').fadeOut(function(){ $('#modalImage img').css('top', '-9999px').remove(); $('#xButton').remove(); $('#modalImage').addClass('loader'); }); }); });

  • How do you modify the data returned from an AJAX call before it is rendered in the jqGrid?

    - by GiddyUpHorsey
I'm trying to modify the data returned from an AJAX call before jqGrid 3.7.2 renders it. I've tried hooking into the loadComplete event but when I modify the data it appears to be after it has already rendered. I've also tried hooking into the success event on the ajaxGridOptions field of options but that seems to totally override the event and jqGrid doesn't render the data. How can I modify the data returned from a web service call before jqGrid renders it?

  • jCarousel Lite - center images horizontally and vertically

    - by carillonator
I have jCarousel Lite going in Drupal with images of various sizes/aspect ratios. I'm not having much luck trying to center the images vertically and horizontally (i.e. evenly-spaced). The plugin requires that the images be in a <ul><li><img ... /></li></ul>. I've tried display:inline-block, marginTop:50% among other things, most of which just screw up the carousel. The carousel is posted at: http://carillontech.org/drupal/ thanks!!

  • How to remove hyperlink but keep text for an array of links?

    - by Keith Donegan
My question is fairly similar to this question: Remove hyperlink but keep text? but, I can't seem to workout how I can feed an array of class names and do this in one go? For Example <a class="unwrap" href="#">Blah</a> <a class="unwrap" href="#">Blah</a> <a href="#">Blah</a> <a class="unwrap" href="#">Blah</a> I would just like the links with the unwrap class to be modified.

  • Get computed font size for DOM element in JS

    - by Pekka
Is it possible to detect the computed font-size of a DOM element, taking into consideration generic settings made elsewhere (In the body tag for example), inherited values, and so on? A framework-independent approach would be nice, as I'm working on a script that should work standalone, but that is not a requirement of course. Background: I'm trying to tweak CKEditor's font selector plugin (source here) so that it always shows the font size of the current cursor position (as opposed to only when within a span that has an explicit font-size set, which is the current behaviour).

  • Custom link on embedded youtube video

    - by 0plus1
I'm looking to direct the user on the channell webpage instead of the video url that I'm embedding. I've read the api and I didn't see any way to achieve this. I tried enclosing the embedded video in a and I added this code: $('#youtube').click(function() { document.write('http://www.youtube.com/user/trasportareoggi'); return false; }); And surprise it won't work. How, if it's even possible I can do this?

  • Calling and writing javascript functions

    - by Ankur
I think I have not got the syntax correct for writing a javascript function and calling it to assign its return value to a variable. My function is: getObjName(objId){ var objName =""; $.ajax( { type : "GET", url : "Object", dataType: 'json', data : "objId="+objId, success : function(data) { objName = data; } }); return objName; } I am trying to call it and assign it to a variable with: var objName = getObjName(objId); However Eclipse is telling me that "there is no such function getObjName() defined"

  • How to record when user follows external links without slowing user down

    - by taw
I want to track when user clicks external links for analytics purposes. The simplest solution is to replace all external links with links to special record-and-redirect controller, but that would slow the user unnecessarily. The second idea would be to override click event and within in $.post a message to record controller, then let the main event handler happen, which will usually be either click (open link in same tab) or middle click (open in new tab) - good either way, and the user won't have to wait for wait for my server to record it, it's fire-and-forget. (I don't care if users without Javascript don't get tracked) Is that a reasonable way to go? Or what else would be the best way to track all external link clicks?

  • How to initiate JavaScript Callback with MVC2 using RenderAction

    - by Zacho
I am building a dashboard where I am iterating through a list of controls to render, and I need to initiate a general callback both after each control and after they are all completed. I was curious what the best way to handle this is. I can get the control specific callback fired off by placing myUserControlCallback(); in the user control itself. I'm just not sure how to run something like allControlsRendered();. Any ideas?

  • Resize jqGrid based on number of rows?

    - by Rosdi
I want my jqGrid to shrink and expand based on the number of rows it has. Let say it currently has 10 rows, the height of the jqGrid will shrink to 10 rows (so that no gaping empty rows is exposed). If however there are too many rows, the height of the grid will expand to a maximum 'height' value and a scroll bar will appear.

  • Intercept click event on a button, ask for confirmation, then proceed

    - by Blankman
Based on a variable SomeCondition, I need to intercept a click event on a button, and ask for confirmation, if they say ok, proceed, otherwise ignore click. So something like: if(SomeCondition) { // disable click on button var isOk = window.confirm("Are you sure?"); if(isOk) { $("#button1").click(); } } Note: button1 has already been wired up with a click event via javascript from an external .js file that I can't change. I don't know what the click event was bound too, so I have to disable the click if SomeCondition is true, then ask for confirmation, then continue with the click.
