• CSS Negative margins for positioning.

  Is it ok to use negative margins for positioning? I have a lot in my current site and feel like it's not such a stable way to position things. I usually suggest to use them too. For example I have a checkout page with three divs on top of each other <div class="A"> header </div> <div class="B"> content </div> <div class="C"> footer </div> (A, B and C), which are meant to sit on top of each other, to appear attached. I did this using: .B { margin-top: -20px; } On div B, to meet the bottom of div A. Is this good practice or shall I re-code using top and left?

• How do I share an NSArrayController between two nib files?

  I have an array of images, and two nib files. One nib file has a window that displays the images in an NSTableView. The other nib has a window that draws the array of images into an NSView, and also draws a highlight over the images that are selected. The array of images is controlled by an NSArrayController. I'm having trouble getting the two nibs to share the NSArrayController. I would have two separate NSArrayControllers bound to the same content, but I also want both nibs to share the controller's selection; that is, if you select an image in the table window, it also becomes selected in the other window. Is there a standard way to do this?

  Hi Please give a look at this site. maimei.ch After 5 times opening a new site via ajax (fancybox) it crashes in IE? One little thing is that i load a whole asp.net site via ajax in the new window. so viewstate and other overhead is there twice after. could this be the problem? if yes, why just after 5 times?. is it possible to call just the content of an specific element via ajax? may be just the innerhtml of the body element of the called site?   I will be displaying news feeds from external websites on my website. So i need to open external links in those feeds in a new window, but give the user an option to return to my website. Basically I'm trying to replicate Google Images' technique of opening a link in a window with 2 frames - with the top frame having an option to "Remove Frame" and the bottom frame displaying the content of the link. Also, since the news feed will be dynamic, I don't want to hard-code anything. The code should be used automatically by any link appearing in the news feeds. Any ideas on how to do it?

• Development deployment: how to achive edit-and-reload with JSP pages?

  Out project uses WebLogic as web-server and uses mostly JSP for user interface. With standard setup it is possible to copy edited JSP files into the exploded deployment directory and WebLogic will automatically pick them up, recompile and serve new content through HTTP. However, is it possible to avoid copying at all, so that I just save a file in my editor and it is immediately (well, after a couple of seconds for recompilation) visible? The project uses Apache Ant as building tool. I would imagine what I want would be possible with symlinks (since this is for deployment only I don't care about cross-platformity), but then I don't see how it is possible to symlink lots of files at once with Ant. So, how do I achieve save-JSP-hit-F5-in-browser functionality either with some setting in WebLogic; or with symlinking JSPs using Apache Ant (instead of copying them as is done now); or something else completely?

  Say that you have a XHTML document in English but it has accented characters (e.g. meta name="author" content="José"). Let's say you have no control over the HTTP headers. Should the characters be replaced for their corresponding named entities (e.g. &aacute;, etc)? Should the doc type and the xml:lang attribute be set to English? I know I can check the W3C recommendation but I am asking more from a practical point of view.

  Hi, WordPress requires you give each blog post at least two fields: a title and text body content. I'm wondering how to modify WordPress admin so I can sometimes enter a single field for a blog post, in particular a URL, without WordPress requiring a title (related but not the point of this question: a custom theme would then know how to handle a post that only contained a URL, it would treat it like a "Link" post in Tumblr). Ideally it'd be good if the "add/edit post" form could be modified so it only contains this single URL/Link field when this is wanted. I'm guessing this is possible through a plugin but I'm not certain. I'm hoping some smart WordPress devs are here to share and brainstorm ideas for how this could be done. The problem we're left with is the following: the flash API is streaming the content of the video to a webpage, this page saves the photo as a jpg. • How to implement Android Pull-to-Refresh

  In Android applications such as Twitter (official app), when you encounter a ListView, you can pull it down (and it will bounce back when released) to refresh the content. I wonder what is the best way, in your opinion, to implement that? Some possibilities I could think of: An item on top of the ListView - however I don't think scrolling back to item position 1 (0-based) with animation on the ListView is an easy task. Another view outside the ListView - but I need to take care of moving the ListView position down when it is pulled, and I'm not sure if we can detect if the drag-touches to the ListView still really scroll the items on the ListView. Any recommendations?

• Test wordpress sites for SQL Injection on siteurl

  I have a client who's wordpress sites have gotten hacked twice by iframe scammers. Each time they've injected iframe code into the content of the sites. This last time, today, they simply changed the siteurl in wp_options to their iframe code. The result was obvious and appeared to simply botch the paths of the scripts that rely on I can't determine if its a password compromise (on FTP or WordPress itself) or a SQL injection to alter siteurl. Since the only thing that was altered is siteurl, I'm thinking perhaps SQL Injection. What are your thoughts? Any way to scan a site for potential SQL injection vulnerabilities? The only active plugins on the site are contact form 7 and google xml sitemaps.

Is there any way to force transformer to use UTF-8 instead of entities?

  Hi everybody, I'm very new to jQuery, Ajax and things like these. I've found solutions on how to inject HTML fragments into my site: $(document).ready(function(){ $('a').click(openContent); //binding all anchors to this function }); function openContent(){ var path = $(this).attr('href'); $('#content').load(path); return false; //to prevent browser from loading the single HTML fragment } That works really fine! The problem is, these function won't be executed when clicking on anchors located in the new HTML fragment which were injected right before. So the fragment won't get injected into div, the browser will only load the fragment for itself. Hope there are solutions which aren't that tricky... thanks sam

  I'm writing my own blog/CMS engine (using WebApp and Google App Engine), and I'm looking for a light-weight XML format to use for content storage. Is there some already existing format that could be used for this purposes? Maybe some subset of the DocBook or ePub format? I had a look at those and they seem to be a little of overkill for what I want to do. Then again WXR (Wordpress eXtended RSS) or the one from Pluxml (pluxml.org) might be suited as well. Any ideas?

• Cleaning up nasty characters in PHP

  Hi folks, Got a little issue where my client is pasting in content from Word into my little text editor in a CMS. The double quotes are coming back encoded in what looks like some form of UTF. Any ideas if I can strip/replace these using PHP when they get displayed out of my mySQL table.   I know there are already many questions like mine but I found no answer which works in Java. So I write a new question. I have text files with content like this: key1 = "This is a \"test\" text with escapes using '\\' characters"; key2 = 'It must work with \'single\' quotes and "double" quotes'; I need a regular expression which matches the values in the double-quotes (or single-quotes). This regular expression must support the escaped quotes and escaped backslashes. The regular expression must work with Java standard Pattern/Matcher classes.
