  • Can I move another program's window to the front of focus?

    I am interacting with a third party application using it's API, and would like to move it to the front of focus (so that it is on top of all other open windows) when a user performs a certain action. While I can move my application up and down in the hierarchy pretty easily, there doesn't appear to be a way to interact with other windows. Is it possible to move another program's window to front with Java?

    Hi, I am interested in getting the profiling of some number crunching program. I compiled it with -g and -pg options and linked it and got it gmon.out. After reading the info (plain text) it looks a bit ugly. I wonder if there are some open source tools for getting a graphical representation of the 10 functions where the program spends the most of the time as well as a flux diagram. Thanks

    Hi all, I have seen links that open modal windows AND have a nice animation effect that create the illusion that the window grows out of the link clicked. On closing the window a similar animation shows that the window shrinks and disappears in the link which originally opened it. I remember I saw it on some jquery page but don't remember where and don't know what this effect is called. Have you seen this? Examples?

  • Calling Windows commands (e.g. del) from a GNU makefile

    It does not appear to be possible to call Windows system commands (e.g. del, move, etc) using GNU Make. When the following rule is run, an error is reported del: command not found: clean: del *.o This is presumably because there is no such execuatable as "del". I've also tried running it as an option to cmd but with this only seems to open a new prompt: clean: cmd /C del *.o I'm using GNU Make 3.79.1 that is bundled as part of MSys.

The application that I am dealing with also allows developers to plugin javascript into various event handlers for client side validation, etc.. What is the best way for me to localize my javascript messages and strings? Ideally, I would like to store the strings in the .resx files to keep them with the rest of the localized resources.   • Distributing an executable zip file with __main__.py, how to access extra data?

    I'm doing a little program and I want to distribute using this recipe: single directory with _main_.py in it zip this directory and echo #!/usr/bin/env python\n file.zip making it executable The problem is that in this package I have also extra files (I'm using pygtk toolkit and I need images and ui xml files). When I try to access these files I have the error that the resource is unavailable (the path that I'm trying to open is something like file.zip/gui/gui.ui ). How can I handle this situation?

    I have a C++ program that takes user input for fopen in order to initiate a file write. Could someone help me find a function which will return a FILE* and use the Windows specific version of mkdir in order to create the folder structure for fopen to never fail to open a new file in the specified location because one of the folders does not exist.     Givens: disk is cheap, and there's plenty lying around on various computers around the corporate intranet redundant contiguous large storage volumes are expensive Problem: It would be fantastic to have a single entry point (drive letter, network path) that presents all this space as one contiguous filesystem, effectively abstracting the disk and network architecture from the paths presented to users.   • Hotkey to preview in browser in second monitor while still keeping focus in editor?

    I use two monitors. The second one has a browser open. I use Visual studio in the first monitor and making edits to the web page. Would love to press a key and instantly see the change in the browser. Basically doing a refresh in the browser behind the scene and still keep window focus in the editor. Instead of keep switching to the browser, refresh, switch back to VS. Any better ideas than using a keyboard recorder like AutoPilot?

    How come this pop-up gets a size other than what I have specified, when testing it in IE6 and FireFox 3.6? Firefox displays it correctly but IE6 is smaller for some reason. I know my examples are not very good ones. Essentially, I have an SNMP agent running on Linux and I need it to provide platform specific health and state information.     I've recently been given a MS Access .mdb database file and asked to make it usable in a Linux system. What I'm looking for is a way to convert the Access database to an open-source database such as MySQL or PostGres. I don't have MS Office, and it's a one-time project for a volunteer organization so I don't want to spend money if it's avoidable. I'm running Vista x64, and have a Linux virtualbox, so something usable in either one will be good.

    I have a file that exists within a text and a binary image, I need to read from 0 to 30 position the text in question, and the position on 31 would be the image in binary format. What are the steps that I have to follow to proceed with that problem?     Say you've got some IEnumerable called S of length N. I would like to select all continuous subsequences of length n <= N from S. If S were, say, a string, this'd be pretty easy. There are (S.Length - n + 1) subsequences of length n. For example, "abcdefg" is length (7), so that means it has (5) substrings of length (3): "abc", "bcd", "cde", "def", "efg". But S could be any IEnumerable, so this route isn't open. How do I use extension methods to solve this?
