• C# Win Forms Auto-Updating Controls

  Hello! I have a datagridview and a combobox which get populated randomly with data. However, the new data is never displayed automatically. Someone mentioned the idea of invalidating the control to force the application to redraw it and thus iterate through the contents and populate the control with the new data. Does anyone know which is the best method for implementing auto-updating controls in windows forms applications? help greatly appreciated, regards.

  I am using WCF and REST, and I have complex types, which are working fine. Now I need to check for validation, I am thinking of using DataAnnotations e.g. public class Customer { [Required] public string FirstName {get;set;} } Now where the issue is how do I pass this validation down to the REST service? ALso I need to validate the object when it comes back, and throw an exception, if I am to throw an exception then what is the best way of doing this using REST?

• Piping a bash variable into awk and storing the output

  Hello, To illustrate my problem, TEST="Hi my name is John" OUTP=`echo $TEST | awk '{print $3}'` echo $OUTP What I would expect this to do is pass the $TEST variable into awk and store the 3rd word into $OUTP. Instead I get "Hi: not found", as if it is expecting the input to be a file. If I pass just a string instead of a variable, however, there is no problem. What would be the best way to approach this? So I'm curious if I should save the PDF into JPG's and render them out with the data on top of the image and re-create a PDF. I am wondering what form of authentication would be best for my use? I have heard the if you are just dealing with a websites then a web form is for you (because it's prettier). HTTP header authentication with PHP is said to get clunky/sloppy. htAcess is pretty much the hard core of various authentication methods I have looked up, but is it too much?

  I want to use -drawRect: in an UITableViewCell subclass but it is covered by contentView. So the best option seems to be that I make a UIView subclass with my -drawRect: code and use that as contentView. But how could I feed my UITableViewCell subclass with that contentView? UITableViewCell creates that on its own when the contentView property is accessed. Would I simply override the getter method and then provide my own view there?

  Hi all, i am currently working on a web application that needs to accept video uploaded by users in any format (.avi, .mov, etc.) and convert them to flv for playing in a flash-based player. Since the site is OpenCms-based, the best solution would be a ready-made plugin for OpenCms that allowed to upload and play videos doing the transcode operation in background, but just a set of Java classes to do the transcode would be great and then i could make the uploading form and playback part on my own.

  Hi all, I'm building a website at the moment, I've some html fragment that is being stored into the database, I've been reading around that inserting HTML at runtime poses security risks by using the InnerHTML property of any html tag with runat server on it. So, my question is there any alternative way to safely display the html code and won't pose security risks and is it best to assume any textboxes on any given page is dangerous and process the text in the textboxes with Server.HtmlEncode before I store it to database? • TTCPServer limited to 10 connections?

  I've created a TCP server NT-Service in Delphi 6, I've tried Indy components, Ararat Synapse components, and am now trying just plain old TTcpServer to see which would perform best while using the least resources. I'm surprised to see that the live instance of the service (running on Windows Server) is still limited to 10 connections! Any new connections are forcibly disconnected. Have I missed something? Do I need to set a property or override a method of TCustomTcpServer?
