Sometimes I have repeating events, stored as weekly repeating, so if the date is 6-10-10, and I am repeating an event every two weeks from that day (including that day) what is the best way to find dates for every two weeks from 6-10-10?   I don't know what's the best way to doing this. On my application.html.erb I define a header div. My default controller ( root ) is a homepage controller. And I wish that if I'm at index of the homepage the header is rendering with some content, but all other controllers render another content inside that header. How can I make a condition in that header div to render different content based on the controller that's being rendered?

  I have a database which users should not be able to alter data in unless they use the specific app. I know best practice is to use windows authentication however that would mean that users could then connect to the database using any other data enabled app and change values which would then not be audited. Unfortunately SQL 2008 with its inbuilt auditing is not available. Any ideas how to ensure that users cannot change anything unless its through the controlling app?

  I am trying to use FileLock lock(long position, long size,boolean shared) in FileChannel object As per the javadoc it can throw OverlappingFileLockException. When I create a test program with 2 threads lock method seems to be waiting to acquire the lock (both exclusive and non exclusive) But when the number threads increases in the acutal scenario over lapping file lock exception is thrown and processing slows down due the block at File lock table. What is the best way to acquire lock avoiding the OverlappingFileLockException ?
