  • Using Monit to monitor Resque

    I'm trying to use resque as a job runner for Rails. I've tried this config, and many other ways of demonizing the rescue task (because running rake resque:work leaves the terminal tied to that command). Unfortunately, their example configuration doesn't work for me. Does the configuration look correct? Or is there another way to turn the process into a daemon?   • Next project. GW or webOS enyo framework [closed]

    I'm considering the use of GWT for next project. We already know java and the front-end its already writteng in Android java (not the same at all, but its a starting point). We are also considering enyo framework, from HP's webOS. Its seem interesting and its only javascript for everything. Does anybody have tested it yet?. Could it be a risky business to develop with HP? Target: Deskopt web browser, first. Mobile tablet browsers, second.

  • variable declaration in javascript [migrated]

    I have been doing something like this for a while and I have never seen any errors. But, unfortunately, I have never been able to explain why this works. The first line creates a variable which points to a function. The second line just adds func2 to func1 separated by a dot and defines a function. If I add a var in front of func1.func2 then I see a compilation error. func1.func2 = function(){}; Error SyntaxError: missing ; before statement var func1.func2 = function(){}; What type was func1 on first line 1 and what did it become on line 2. var func1 = function(){}; func1.func2 = function(){}; Thanks Venkat

  • Is it possible to grant access to a folder in a SVN server using SVN's API?

    I need to develop a web application (Using any language but I'm familiar with Frameworks Symfony2 and Rails), that is able to grant access to a user to a determined folder on another server on the same network from the application's front-end. I found out that SVN has an API and that I could interact with it with PHP or Ruby (Apparently), although I would be willing to program the application on another language, the server where the files are stored is using Windows and I thought on using Virtual SVN server, however I can't find any function on the API to grant users access to files and/or folders or access of any kind, like you usually do using the GUI (VirtualSVN on Windows). Am I missing anything? Is this even possible?

The jobs for C and C++ developers working in the Unix environment are not as plentiful as they used to be, so you're looking to expand your skills. If you were going to focus on an area of technology for the next 10 years, and you had a choice of C# or to continue with your work in Java and expand those skills, which would you choose and why? I love being a programmer. I want to focus on an area that would put me in demand so that I can continue to be a programmer. This is not meant to be subjective, I'm looking for guidance and advice from other professionals. This is a question that is at the front of my mind right now. TIA.

Question visual link is : Design this application The approach that I told him: Firstly build whole person's data (contacts , place information and all) Then where you mark on the map, just build a cluster of that country using Hadoop and fire the message to all the person's contact comes in that cluster.   • C# .NET 4.0 interactive course?

    I would like to learn C# programming. I already studied it for several weeks and wrote some minor programs with VS2010, and I'm not completely newbie at programming because I worked on STALKER - Shadow of Chernobyl as scripter, but it was LUA. I want to become a real programmer. I think C# is a decent way to start with. I already learned about the most commonly used resource sites and got some nice eBooks as well, but unfortunately I don't have time to sit down in front my computer all the time, so my progress is pretty slow. I would like to ask that if someone can recommend me some decent interactive online courses to make my learning progress faster. I know about the "joe grip" course but I don't know if it's worth $39 also it's only for .NET 1.x and 2.0 while I'd like to learn 4.0 so I have no idea what should I do.

The data of parent is being change in the front end with JSF, however, it is not updating in the child class. Any idea as to what could be causing this?   • Collision for mobile game

    I'm writing a little game in as3 using Starling, and I need to check collision between 2 boats that can rotate. I don't need the pixel perfect collision, but bounds collision is not enough too. The boat look more or less like this: I was thinking about create one square on the back of the boat and a triangle on the front, than for each boat, check if the square collide with the other boat square or triangle, and the same for the triangle. I just don't know how to do that, I don't know if it's possible with the Shape.hitTest, or if it's the best way to do that. What can I do?

  • How do I focus an "urgent" application?

    Sometimes applications will wiggle in the launcher and have a blue triangle. (See compiz config settings for Unity.) How can I set a keyboard command to bring that application to the front in Ubuntu 11.10? I had it set in 11.04, but I don't remember how. This is useful when programs open in the background or if you activate them from another app. (I have an alias to send files to a single gvim instance from Terminal instead of opening them in their own window. When gvim gets the file, it wiggles but doesn't gain focus.)

  • Problems with input and suspend(separately)

    I'm still very new at Ubuntu/any other linux OS, so this might be an easy fix for most. I installed Ubuntu 14.04 a few days ago, it's dual-booted with Windows 8.1 and I'm using a Toshiba laptop. Whenever I suspend/close my computer, and then open it again, the front LEDs will light up telling me that it's running, but the screen will not do anything. I can hear the fan spinning, but it's almost like the screen doesn't power on like it should. Also, another problem I'm having, is that ~60% of the time, my trackpad and keyboard do not work at all, this starts as soon as Ubuntu boots up. To fix it, I just turn it off and back on until it works. My USB mouse does work no matter what though. Both problems are only present in Ubuntu and not windows 8.1.

  • IntellIJ editor doesn't appear

    I updated my IntellIJ install to the latest version (11.1.4) and now the Editor window doesn't appear. Double-clicking on the file, jump-to-source, nothing happens. No error message, it just doesn't appear. If I double-click on an xml layout file the preview window works, but no Editor window. Have installed and reinstalled; went back to an earlier version and it doesn't work there either. I'm at a loss. Any ideas? Update: Editor works if I create a new project.     I've been scouring the web for a good example, but cannot figure out how to add a page break to an Active Reports report programmatically. The reports I'm working with usually require 1-2 pages for each record. In order to support dual-sided printing of the reports I want to insert a blank page for each record that uses an odd number of pages, ensuring that each new record is printed on the front of each printed page. I'm very new to Active Reports, so any suggestions, code samples, or links are much appreciated!

  • WPF storyboard animation issue when using VisualBrush

    Hey guys, I was playing around with storyboards, a flipping animation, and visual brushes. I have encountered an issue though. Below is the xaml and code-behind of a small sample I quickly put together to try to demonstrate the problem. When you first start the app, you are presented with a red square and two buttons. If you click the "Flip" button, the red square will "flip" over and a blue one will appear. In reality, all that is happening is that the scale of the width of the StackPanel that the red square is in is being decreased until it reaches zero and then the StackPanel where a blue square is, whose width is initially scaled to zero, has its width increased. If you click the "Flip" button a few times, the animation looks ok and smooth. Now, if you hit the "Reflection" button, a reflection of the red/blue buttons is added to their respective StackPanels. Hitting the "Flip" button now will still cause the flip animation but it is no longer a smooth animation. The StackPanels width often does not shrink to zero. The width shrinks somewhat but then just stops before being completely invisible. Then the other StackPanel appears as usual. The only thing that changed was adding the reflection, which is just a VisualBrush. Below is the code. Does anyone have any idea why the animations are different between the two cases (stalling in the second case)? } } } } UPDATE: I have been testing this some more to try to find out what is causing the issue I am seeing and I believe I found what is causing the issue. Below I have pasted new xaml and code-behind. The new sample below is very similar to the original sample, with a few minor modifications. The xaml basically consists of two stack panels, each containing two borders. The second border in each stack panel is a visual brush (a reflection of the border above it). Now, when I click the "Flip" button, one stack panel gets its ScaleX reduced to zero, while the second stack panel, whose initial ScaleX is zero, gets its ScaleX increased to 1. This animation gives the illusion of flipping. There are also two textblocks which display the scale factor of each stack panel. I added those to try to diagnose my issue. The issue is (as described in the oringal post) that the flipping animation is not smooth. Every time I hit the flip button, the animation starts but whenever the ScaleX factor gets to around .14 to .16, the animation looks like it stalls and the stack panels never have there ScaleX reduced to zero, so they never totally disappear. Now, the strange thing is that if I change the Width/Height properties of the "frontBorder" and "backBorder" borders defined below to use explict values instead of Auto, such as Width=105 and Height=75 (to match the button in the border) everything works fine. The animation stutters the first two or three times I run it but after that the flips are smooth and flawless. (BTW, when an animation is run for the first time, is there something going on in the background, some sort of initialization, that causes it to be a little slow the first time?) Is it possible that the Auto Width/Height of the borders are causing the issue? I can reproduce it everytime but I am not sure why Auto Width/Height would be a problem. Below is the sample. It has the following structure: $/Code/MainSolution $/Code/Branches I want to branch the MainSolution in $/Code/Branches So I do it, (it works perfectly), I set a working folder for that project and do a 'get latest'. But when I open that solution in Visual Studio 2005 it identifies every file as new (+ sign in front of the file) and when I commit it it goes to $/Data/NameOfTheBranch Why does it do that? Why doesn't it follow MY rules?

    Hi, I have 2 views, each for portrait and landscape. I start by displaying the portrait view. On both the views, I have a button, which presents a modal view on clicking it. When the modal view comes up and then I rotate the iPad, the portrait view is replaced by the landscape view, but the modal view goes behind this view.
