  • Where do I start with a web bot?

    I simply want to create an automatic script that can run (preferably) on a web-server, and simply 'clicks' on an object of a web page. I am new to Python or whatever language this would be used for so I thought I would go here to ask where to start! This may seem like I want the script to scam advertisements or do something illegal, but it's simply to interact with another website. Sorry for asking, I hope you guys can provide me with some ground to start on!

  • ASP.NET Granting access to local resources

    Hi all I have an ASP.NET web application that runs on a windows server 2003 server. there is a form that reads and writes data to an xml file inside the application's directory. I always grant the NETWORK SERVICE user full control on my application folder so that it can read and write to the xml file. I put the application on another windows server 2003 server and did the same steps above but i was getting an Access denied exception on the form that reads and writes to the xml. I did some search and found that if you grant the user ASPNET full control to the directory it would work, I did that and it worked fine. my question is: what is the difference between granting full control permissions to NETWORK SERVICE and ASPNET users ? and what can be the difference between the two servers that caused this issue ? thanks

  • Tying PyQt4 QAction triggered() to local class callable doesn't seem to work. How to debug this?

    I create this object when I want to create a QAction. I then add this QAction to a menu: class ActionObject(object): def __init__(self, owner, command): action = QtGui.QAction(command.name, owner) self.action = action self.command = command action.setShortcut(command.shortcut) action.setStatusTip(command.name) QtCore.QObject.connect(action, QtCore.SIGNAL('triggered()'), self.triggered) def triggered(self): print("got triggered " + self.command.id + " " + repr(checked)) Unfortunately, when the menu item is selected, the 'triggered' function is not called. QtCore.QObject.connect() returns True. Nothing is printed on the console to indicate that anything is wrong, and no exception is thrown. How can I debug this? (or, what am I doing wrong?)

  • Using VirtualMode on a DataGridView when the number of rows/columns isn't known

    I need to display an unknown length sequence of dictionaries with unknown keys efficiently in a data grid. This sequence is the result of a potentially slow LINQ query that could contain any number of results. At first I thought that VirtualMode on DataGridView was what I was looking for but it appears that the number of rows and columns must be known upfront. I tried adding a single row and column then adding more as needed from the CellValueNeeded event but this doesn't work. Is this even possible with VirtualMode? Or do I need to estimate how many rows are visible on the screen and manually build up the rows/columns? And if so, how do I ensure that a vertical scrollbar is present and react appropriately when a user uses it?

    How can I create a fubumvc behaviour that wraps actions with a particular return type, and if an exception occurs while executing the action, then the behaviour logs the exception and populates some fields on the return object?     I have the following dummy class structure and I am trying to find out how to get the properties from each instance of the class People in PeopleList. I know how to get the properties from a single instance of People but can't for the life of me figure out how to get it from PeopleList.     This piece of code is supposed to calculate an approximation to e (i.e. the mathematical constant ~ 2.71828183) at compile-time, using the following approach; e1 = 2 / 1 e2 = (2 * 2 + 1) / (2 * 1) = 5 / 2 = 2.5 e3 = (3 * 5 + 1) / (3 * 2) = 16 / 6 ~ 2.67 e4 = (4 * 16 + 1) / (4 * 6) = 65 / 24 ~ 2.708 ... e(i) = (e(i-1).numer * i + 1) / (e(i-1).denom * i) The computation is returned via the result static member however, after 2 iterations it yields zero instead of the expected value.   • Get newly created window using Win32 API hooks

    This may be a long short or not even possible but no harm in asking. What I am trying to do is monitor an application for any new windows it creates in its MDI control. I have implemented hooking in C# and can capture the MDICREATE window message but because I need to get information about the window after is has been created the MDICREATE message isn't much help because at that stage the window hasn't been created in the other application yet. Without going into to much detail I just need to be able to see when a new window has been created. Is this possible? Thanks

  • Recursively created linked lists with a class, C++

    I'm using C++ to recursively make a hexagonal grid (using a multiply linked list style). I've got it set up to create neighboring tiles easily, but because I'm doing it recursively, I can only really create all 6 neighbors for a given tile. Obviously, this is causing duplicate tiles to be created and I'm trying to get rid of them in some way. Because I'm using a class, checking for null pointers doesn't seem to work. It's either failing to convert from my Tile class to and int, or somehow converting it but not doing it properly. I'm explicitly setting all pointers to NULL upon creation, and when I check to see if it still is, it says it's not even though I never touched it since initialization. Is there a specific way I'm supposed to do this? I can't even traverse the grid without NULLs of some kind Here's some of my relevant code. Yes, I know it's embarassing.   • node.js and jsdom - no way to detect that an http 500 error was returned?

    I'm using jsdom with node.js and I'm trying to get it to provide me with some indication that an http error has occurred. I've set up a test server that simply returns an http 500 header for all requests, but when I attempt to load it with jsdom, jsdom doesn't throw any error and doesn't seem to provide me with any information that would identify that an http 500 error was returned. What's the best way to detect an http 500 error?

    I'm trying to validate an XML file against a number of different schemas (apologies for the contrived example): a.xsd b.xsd c.xsd c.xsd in particular imports b.xsd and b.xsd imports a.xsd, using: <xs:include schemaLocation="b.xsd"/> I'm trying to do this via Xerces in the following manner: XMLSchemaFactory xmlSchemaFactory = new XMLSchemaFactory(); Schema schema = xmlSchemaFactory.newSchema(new StreamSource[] { new StreamSource(this.getClass().getResourceAsStream("a.xsd"), "a.xsd"), new StreamSource(this.getClass().getResourceAsStream("b.xsd"), "b.xsd"), new StreamSource(this.getClass().getResourceAsStream("c.xsd"), "c.xsd")}); Validator validator = schema.newValidator(); validator.validate(new StreamSource(new StringReader(xmlContent))); but this is failing to import all three of the schemas correctly resulting in cannot resolve the name 'blah' to a(n) 'group' component. I've validated this successfully using Python, but having real problems with Java 6.0 and Xerces 2.8.1. Can anybody suggest what's going wrong here, or an easier approach to validate my XML documents?

  • Has anyone used an object database with a large amount of data?

    Object databases like MongoDB and db4o are getting lots of pub lately. Everyone that plays with them seems to love it. I'm guessing that they are dealing with about 640K of data in their sample apps. Has anyone tried to use an object database with a large amount of data (say, 50GB or more)? Are you able to still execute complex queries against it (like from a search screen)? How does it compare to your usual relational database of choice? I'm just curious. I want to take the object database plunge, but I need to know if it'll work on something more than a sample app.

  • Is there a way to load an icon from a memory file handler?

    I am writing wxWidgets application where I am importing the .ICO file as a header. I am attempting to use a wxMemoryFSHandler to make this icon (and others as well) accessible as files. I am using the following code to do this: wxFileSystem::AddHandler(new wxMemoryFSHandler); wxMemoryFSHandler::AddFileWithMimeType( "app_inactive.ico", CsiWebAdmin_ico, sizeof(CsiWebAdmin_ico), "image/vnd.microsoft.icon"); Unfortunately, if I try to load an icon from this "file" as shown below, it does not work. As I stepped through the MSW source (wx 2.8.10), I can see that the loader never attempted to resolve the virtual file name. wxIcon icon("memory:app_inactive.ico"); I have also tried the following: wxIcon icon(wxIconLocation("memory:app_inactive.ico")); and have encountered the same results. I realise that I can use resources to load these files but I would still face the same dilemma when the time came to port my application to GTK. Is there something obvious that I am missing?
