    I have a Windows 7 Ultimate - 64 bit Operating System When I'm trying to create virtual machine Windows Server 2008 64 bit I'm getting the same error neither with Virtual PC or Workstation 7.1 Error: 64 bit guest operating systems are not supported by this host and will not run and Status: 0xc000035a info: Attempting to load a 64 bit application however this CPU is not compatible with 64 bit mode. Is it any settings I'm missing or can you give me a suggestion about workaround, or what do I need to make it work.

  • Windows Event Log wrong Source column value

    In the Event Viewer in Windows 7 there is a Source column that is set by my Windows Service application. The value is set to TOS and usually when a log entry is associated to my application, it has TOS as the Source column value. However, when the service fails to start (or some other kind of error occurs) I get a Source of one of the following values: Application Error Service Control Manager .NET Runtime I don't understand why the value is not always TOS Also, is it possible to force it to use TOS every time?

  • Windows 7: Add column to ALL music folders

    In Windows 7 Explorer, when I open a folder containing only music, it's smart enough to show me a custom set of columns (Name, #, Title, Contributing Artists, Album) that make sense for a music folder. However, I also always want to see a Length column. I can right click on the column headers and add the Length column, which is persistent for that folder, but when I go to another music folder, it doesn't have the new Length column. How do I set up Windows so that ALL music folders ALWAYS show me this column?

  • Windows External Harddisk drive letter after cloning boot partition to it

    I cloned my windows 7 installation on c: to external hard drive. I applied usb patch using pwboot and i could successfully boot into windows. But My problem is even though i am booting in to external hd the file reference and system path is pointing to c: on my internal hard disk. If i remove internal hd and boot it will get stuck at login screen. Is there any way i can force drive letter c: to my boot partition on external hd while booting from it.

    I need a command line tool that adjusts the time of a Windows 2008 server, using an internet clock. The purpose is to adjust the time in a script, when other apps from that script are not running. It is not an option to use the built-in NTP service because that makes some apps on this server fail - note, that this server is used in an industrial environment with no PCs on the network and no Windows update or similar applied. Any idea, anyone?

    Hi, MS Word 2007 files have a property page for entering details like summary and title. This is displayed when you hover over the documents on Desktop. Now on my Windows XP SP2 computer, inside Windows Explorer, it shows the special properties for all such files from Desktop, but not from the Network Drives. This is a big problem when I have a large collection of Word documents all in one folder. How can I display these special properties (infotips) for documents in my network drives ? Thanks :)

    As soon as I logon to Windows 7 64bit, the computer restarts. It isn't a hardware issue, as linux works fine. Windows 7 64 bit. Safe mode, last known good configuration etc, nothing makes any difference. Nor does startup repair or sfc. I used DaRT to check the event log, and nothing is recorded. How can I troubleshoot this?

What's that supposed to mean. How do I change it so that when I click on the Windows Explorer shortcut, I get to see this location: E:\FINAL SAVE DATA

I would like to have a dual boot that, if nothing was pressed, the Windows XP would start automatically.     Remote Assistance is enabled on a PC to-bo-controlled-remotely which is running Windows 7 Starter. I also allowed permanent access for it on the firewall. On the controlling Windows XP Professional laptop I enabled Offer Remote Assistance using gpedit.msc. Both are on the same Workgroup and on the same subnet in my LAN. But I still receive Permission Denied when I attempt to connect: Any idea what I could be missing and how to troubleshoot this problem?

    A little while ago I discovered that on Ubuntu linux one can display or conceal hidden files on demand at run-time by pressing [Ctrl-H]. This is really handy. Is there anyway this can be had on windows?     I want to create recovery media (DVD or HDD) for my Windows 7 running on my VAIO laptop. I noticed that my HDD is already having 13.51 GB partition which is labelled as "Recovery Partition" (not visible in My Computer but visible in Computer management tool in control panel). Can you please suggest me how to use this Recovery partition as a recovery media for my windows? I don't want to create DVDs as recovery media.

  • Can't see any entries on "File Types" tab on Windows 7's Desktop Search

    For some reason, Windows Desktop Search (included with Windows 7.0) now no longer shows any file types on the "Advanced Options" dialog box. Any ideas on how to fix this? WDS claims to be indexing...but I'm not sure what it's actually indexing right now. I should also add that when I try to add a file type, nothing shows up or is ever actually added. If I login as a different user on the same system, everything appears normally.

  • Avoid Windows Explorer to load complete executable file

    On Windows Vista, when browsing to a network folder containing executables, Windows Explorer seems to load all the files completely just to be able to show the executable icon (the resource monitor indicates loads of traffic during the loading of the directory) On XP only a part of the file is loaded. Is there a way to avoid the complete loading of these files? Note that disabling my anti virus does not help.
