  • Dev environment for smart client application

    Hi, we are starting a new smart client project, which is .net winform as client, connecting web service at application server in win 2003. currently, all developers are using win xp pro, to enalbe debugging at both client and server side, we try to get both client and web service installed on XP pc, but the web server require service account to be used for authentication to Active Directory which need IIS6, so it won't work on XP(xp only support IIS5). What is best way to work around this?

    Hi, I have problem with Runtime.exec() in Java My code: String lol = "/home/pc/example.txt"; String[] b = {"touch", lol}; try { Runtime.getRuntime().exec(b); } catch(Exception ex) { doSomething(ex); } It's working good but when I trying changle variable "lol" files doesn't create in hard disk for instance: String lol = x.getPath(); where getPath() returns String What should I do ?     I have small question about pdp-11(simulator), I have this command (it begins from the address 1000) add 2500, #2500 and this initial list: register/address - initial value pc 1000 sp 600 2500 3000 and I want to know how this small snippet exactly runs, in my booklet I found that: firstly it reads inforamtion from the address 1000, inside this address we have value 066727, after we read number from the address 1002, AND VALUE MUST BE 2500(because of add 2500, #2500), but in my booklet I have 1474 without any explanations why, I know that I have here relative addressing mode, but why 1474 inside the address 1002 and not 2500, thanks in advance for any help

It's like 1/6 of the screen on the right that makes anything over there impossible to see. If not, what would be the best programming language to go about making my own program?     I would like to host a service on a WinCE device. The WinCE device is the host which can be accessed(control and data acquisition) by multiple clients (PC or WinCE) over serial port, TCP, USB etc. I was considering using Protocol Buffers for serialization on the wire. It would be ideal to use WCF or remoting but as far as I see they are not implement on the Compact Framework. Anyone have any ideas how this can be achieved.

    I have both Fruityloops and Propellerheads Reason software synths on my Windows PC. Any way I can get at and script these from either Visual Basic or Python? Or at least send Midi messages to the synths from code? Update : attempts to use something like a "midi-mapper" (thanks for link MusiGenesis) don't seem to work. I don't think Reason or FL Studio act like standard GM Midi synths. Update 2 : If you're interested in this question, check out this too.

    I am using VS2008 C# and testing on my local XP Pro PC with local IIS, I have wrote a web service to call a third party software .exe file to use svn checkout commands to insert data into a folder, which use System.Diagnostics.Process.Start . The same codes did work when I use VS2008 build-in ASP.NET Development Server(http://localhost:2999/MyServices/MyServices.asmx). but when I use IIS normal URL(http://developer/MyServices/MyServices.asmx) to run Process.Start on the web service, it just haunlted and not doing anything.plz send one sample program.

    So in a bluetooth piconet, there is one master with upto seven slaves. The master sets the clock and frequency hop that the slaves sync with. But is there a way to determine which device is the master and which is the slave?
