  • scala coalesces multiple function call parameters into a Tuple -- can this be disabled?

    - by landon9720
    This is a troublesome violation of type safety in my project, so I'm looking for a way to disable it. It seems that if a function takes an AnyRef (or a java.lang.Object), you can call the function with any combination of parameters, and Scala will coalesce the parameters into a Tuple object and invoke the function. In my case the function isn't expecting a Tuple, and fails at runtime. I would expect this situation to be caught at compile time. object WhyTuple { def main(args: Array[String]): Unit = { fooIt("foo", "bar") } def fooIt(o: AnyRef) { println(o.toString) } } Output: (foo,bar)

  • How is `toString` in `scala.Enumeration$Value` implemented?

    - by Red Hyena
    I have an enum Fruit defined as: object Fruit extends Enumeration { val Apple, Banana, Cherry = Value } Now printing values of this enum, on Scala 2.7.x gives: scala> Fruit foreach println line1$object$$iw$$iw$Fruit(0) line1$object$$iw$$iw$Fruit(1) line1$object$$iw$$iw$Fruit(2) However the same operation on Scala 2.8 gives: scala> Fruit foreach println warning: there were deprecation warnings; re-run with -deprecation for details Apple Banana Cherry My question is: How is the method toString in Enumeration in Scala 2.8 is implemented? I tried looking into the source of Enumeration but couldn't understand anything.

  • Check for new mails in Hotmail using OpenPop.NET

    - by deadlock
    I was advised to use OpenPop lib to fetch my mail from hotmail. But I could'nt find any better way to check for new mail except disconnecting and reconnecting again. And there, I found a problem, Hotmail doesn't allow more than 1 pop3 login each 15 minutes. I want to know if it's possible to get the new mail without disconnecting and reconnecting to their pop3 server. Here is my code: Timer checker = new Timer(); checker.Interval = 1000; checker.Tick += new EventHandler(delegate { Pop3Client client = new Pop3Client(); client.Connect("pop3.live.com", 995, true); client.Authenticate("[email protected]", "myPassword"); label1.Text = client.GetMessageCount().ToString(); client.Disconnect(); }); checker.Start();

  • IQueryable<> dynamic ordering/filtering with GetValue fails

    - by MyNameIsJob
    I'm attempting to filter results from a database using Entity Framework CTP5. Here is my current method. IQueryable<Form> Forms = DataContext.CreateFormContext().Forms; foreach(string header in Headers) { Forms = Forms.Where(f => f.GetType() .GetProperty(header) .GetValue(f, null) .ToString() .IndexOf(filter, StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase) >= 0); } However, I found that GetValue doesn't work using Entity Framework. It does when the type if IEnumerable< but not IQueryable< Is there an alternative I can use to produce the same effect?

  • What is/are the Scala way(s) to implement this Java "byte[] to Hex" class

    - by nicerobot
    I'm specifically interested in Scala (2.8) techniques for building strings with formats as well as interesting ways to make such a capability easily accessible where it's useful (lists of bytes, String, ...?).. public class Hex { public static String valueOf (final byte buf[]) { if (null == buf) { return null; } final StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(buf.length * 2); for (final byte b : buf) { sb.append(String.format("%02X", b & 0xff)); } return sb.toString(); } public static String valueOf (final Byteable o) { return valueOf(o.toByteArray()); } } This is only a learning exercise (so the utility and implementation of the Java isn't a concern.) Thanks

    This code below produces a NumberFormatException in this line: val cache = cf.createCache(Collections.emptyMap()) Do you see any errors? • How to make web service methods return string value in lines format?

    - by Born To Learn
    How to make web service methods return string value in lines format? My web service method looks like this [WebMethod] public string GetSomeLines() { System.Text.StringBuilder builder = new StringBuilder(); builder.AppendLine("Line1."); builder.AppendLine("Line2."); builder.AppendLine("Line3."); return builder.ToString(); } But when I get the result from web browser or from delphi/c# consumer it will be like this: Line1. Line2. Line3. While I expect to see: Line1. Line2. Line3. I know may be returning a StringBuilder or String Array is an option here but I want to know if there is a way to make this with string result. Thanks for your help.

  • How to disable listbox auto select item when pressing key

    - by tomfox66
    I have a listbox where I want to copy and paste items within that listbox. Copy and paste works fine but everytime I press "Crtl + C" the item starting with the letter C is automatically selected. Can this automatic selection be disabled or am I missing something here Here is the copy and paste method I implemented: private void listBox_Script_KeyDown(object sender, KeyEventArgs e) { if (e.Control == true && e.KeyCode == Keys.C) { int test = listBox_Script.SelectedIndex; Clipboard.SetDataObject(listBox_Script.Items[listBox_Script.SelectedIndex], true); return; } if (e.Control == true && e.KeyCode == Keys.V) { if (Clipboard.GetDataObject().GetDataPresent(DataFormats.Text)) { listBox_Script.Items.Insert(listBox_Script.SelectedIndex + 1, Clipboard.GetDataObject().GetData(DataFormats.Text).ToString()); return; } }

  • C# - Listing class properties like Immediate window

    - by Robert
    Hi, I store a few classes in session. I want to be able to see the values of my class properties in trace viewer. By default I only the Type name MyNamespace.MyClass. I was wondering if I overwrite the .ToString() method and use reflection to loop over all the properties and construct a string like that ... it would do the trick but just wanted to see if there is anything already out there (specially since Immediate Window has this capability) which does the same ... i.e. list the class property values in trace instead of just the Name of the class. Thanks!

  • Accessing controls created dynamically (c#)

    - by Aliens
    In my code behind (c#) I dynamically created some RadioButtonLists with more RadioButtons in each of them. I put all controls to a specific Panel. What I need to know is how to access those controls later as they are not created in .aspx file (with drag and drop from toolbox)? I tried this: foreach (Control child in panel.Controls) { Response.Write("test1"); if (child.GetType().ToString().Equals("System.Web.UI.WebControls.RadioButtonList")) { RadioButtonList r = (RadioButtonList)child; Response.Write("test2"); } } "test1" and "test2" dont show up in my page. That means something is wrong with this logic. Any suggestions what could I do?

    I am using a calculation in my SQL query. How can I use that calculated field in C#? When I try, I get an index out of range exception. My query is: Select OwnerCompanyLog.olog_name,inlt_companyid,inlt_childcompid,inlt_effectinterest,inlt_percent,inlt_sharetype,inlt_shares,inlt_childbase,inlt_effdate, (inlt_percent * inlt_effectinterest)/100)eff from InterestLogTable INNER JOIN OwnerCompanyLog ON InterestLogTable.inlt_childcompid = OwnerCompanyLog.olog_companyid where inlt_companyid=5 Order By inlt_childcompid I want to use inlt_percent * inlt_effectinterest)/100 in my C# code: entity.ParentCompany = new List<Company>(); while (parentCompanyReader.Read()) { ParentCompany.Effect = parentCompanyReader["eff"].ToString(); entity.ParentCompany.Add(ParentCompany); } parentCompanyReader.Close(); But I got the error above.

  • How do I tell if the ObjectDataSource OnSelected event was called for the selectmethod or selectcou

    - by itchi
    I have an object datasource that looks like this: <asp:ObjectDataSource ID="obdsList" runat="server" EnablePaging="True" SelectCountMethod="GetCountByID" SortParameterName="sortExpression" OldValuesParameterFormatString="original_{0}" SelectMethod="GetByID" TypeName="Services.Users" onselected="obdsList_Selected"> <SelectParameters> <asp:QueryStringParameter Name="ID" QueryStringField="ID" Type="Int32" /> </SelectParameters> </asp:ObjectDataSource> And a onselected event like this: protected void obdsList_Selected(object sender, ObjectDataSourceStatusEventArgs e) { } However, the event method is being called twice.. once with my returned list, and once with the returned Int32 count. If I want to cast e.ReturnValue to the return List how do I differentiate between the count and select methods? I can do a e.ReturnValue.GetType().ToString() but that seems like a hack.

  • sortable + draggable demo - how to get access to dropped item?

    - by user246114
    Hi, I have a sortable list. When a new item is dropped into the list (from a draggable), I'd like to get access to it to perform some operations on it. This is what I have: $("#mySortableList").sortable({ receive: function(event, ui) { alert("this is the dropped item: " + ui.item.toString()); } }).disableSelection(); so "ui.item" is the element that was dropped, but it's not the duplicated item that will now be part of my list. How do I get access to the new item that was dropped? I am using the exact demo from the jquery-ui site here: http://jqueryui.com/demos/draggable/#sortable Thanks

  • python array.array with strings as data type

    - by Gladius
    Is there an object that acts like array.array, yet can handle strings (or character arrays) as its data type? It should be able to convert the string array to binary and back again, preferably with null terminated strings, however fixed length strings would be acceptable. >>> my_array = stringarray(['foo', 'bar']) >>> my_array.tostring() 'foo\0bar\0' >>> re_read = stringarray('foo\0bar\0') >>> re_read[:] ['foo', 'bar'] I will be using it with arrays that contain a couple million strings.

Here is the code I have: private void myButton_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { foreach (DataGridViewRow row in ProductsGrid.Rows) { if (this.ProductsGrid.SelectedRows.Count == 1) { // get information of 1st column from the row string value = this.ProductsGrid.SelectedRows[0].Cells[0].ToString(); } } } However when I click on myButton, the this.ProductsGrid.SelectedRows.Count is 0. Also, how do I ensure that the user selects only one row and not multiple rows? Does this code look right?

  • How to create simpliest PHP Get API with UTF-8 support?

    - by Ole Jak
    How to create simpliest *(less lines of code, less strange words) PHP Get API *(so any programm made in .Net C# could call url like http://localhost/api.php?astring=your_utf-8_string&bstring=your_utf-8_string ) with UTF-8 support? What I need Is PHP API with one function - concatinate 2 strings so that a simple .net client like this would be able to use it: public string setStream(string astring, string bstring) { string newAstring =Uri.EscapeDataString(astring); string newBstring = Uri.EscapeDataString(bstring); WebClient client = new WebClient(); var result = client.DownloadString(("http://localhost/api.php?" + string.Format("astring={0}&bstring={1}", newAstring, newBstring)).ToString()); return result; }

  • Is there a way to set a DLL to always follow CultureInfo.InvariantCulture by default, if not specifi

    - by JL
    I have a lot of code in a class library that does not specify CultureInfo.InvariantCulture. For example in toString operations, toBool, toInt, etc. Is there a way I can get set a property for the class library to always execute using CultureInfo.InvariantCulture, even if it is not explicitly specified everywhere in the code? Sort of like a global switch? It is not only messy to have to explicitly type it everytime, it makes my code less readable, and is a royal pain for example: if (Convert.ToInt16(task.RetryCount, CultureInfo.InvariantCulture) < Convert.ToInt16(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["TasksMaxRetry"], CultureInfo.InvariantCulture))
