• Timeout Expired error Using LINQ

  I am going to sum up my problem first and then offer massive details and what I have already tried. Summary: I have an internal winform app that uses Linq 2 Sql to connect to a local SQL Express database. Each user has there own DB and the DB stay in sync through Merge Replication with a Central DB. All DB's are SQL 2005(sp2or3). We have been using this app for over 5 months now but recently our users are getting a Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. Detailed: The strange part is they get that in two differnt locations(2 differnt LINQ Methods) and only the first time they fire in a given time period(~5mins). One LINQ method is pulling all records that match a FK ID and then Manipulating them to form a Heirarchy View for a TreeView. The second is pulling all records that match a FK ID and dumping them into a DataGridView. The only things I can find in common with the 2 are that the first IS an IEnumerable and the second converts itself from IQueryable - IEnumerable - DataTable... I looked at the query's in Profiler and they 'seemed' normal. They are not very complicated querys. They are only pulling back 10 - 90 records, from one table. Any thoughts, suggestions, hints whatever would be greatly appreciated.   I have an Object that is being marshalled to XML using JAXB. One element contains a String that includes quotes ("). The resulting XML has &quot; where the " existed. Even though this is normally preferred, I need my output to match a legacy system. How do I force JAXB to NOT convert the HTML entities? -- Thank you for the replies. A solution that uses bcp and xp_cmdshell, that is not my desired solution, has been posted here: stackoverflow.com/questions/828749/ms-sql-server-2005-write-varbinary-to-file-system (sorry i cannot post a second hyperlink since my reputation is les than 10). I am new to c# (since I am a Delphi developer) anyway I was able to create a simple CLR stored procedures by following a tutorial. My task is to move a file from the client file system to the server file system (the server can be accessed using remote IP, so I cannot use a shared folder as destination, this is why I need a CLR stored procedure). So I plan to: 1) store from Delphi the file in a varbinary(max) column of a temporary table 2) call the CLR stored procedure to create a file at the desired path using the data contained in the varbinary(max) field Imagine I need to move C:\MyFile.pdf to Z:\MyFile.pdf, where C: is a harddrive on local system and Z: is an harddrive on the server. I provide the code below (not working) that someone can modify to make it work? Here I suppose to have a table called MyTable with two fields: ID (int) and DATA (varbinary(max)). Please note it doesn't make a difference if the table is a real temporary table or just a table where I temporarly store the data. I would appreciate if some exception handling code is there (so that I can manage an "impossible to save file" exception). I would like to be able to write a new file or overwrite the file if already existing.   I have an application that will record and play audio files. Some of the audio files are downloaded using simple standard http downloads using httpclient. It worked like a charm for a long time. Now all of a sudden I cannot play the files I download. It fails with this stack. I store the files on the SDCard and I experience the problem both on a handset and a USB connected device. I have checked that the downloaded file is cool on the server, and I can play it without any issues. • JLabel animation in JPanel

  After scratching around I found that it's best to implement a custom image component by extending a JLabel. So far that has worked great as I can add multiple "images" (jlabels without the layout breaking. I just have a question that I hope someone can answer for me. I noticed that in order to animate JLabels across the screen I need to setlayout(null); and setbounds of the component and then to animate eventually setlocation(x,y);. Is this a best practice or a terrible way to animate a component? I plan on eventually making an animation class but I don't want to do so and end up having to chuck it. I am creating a DataGenerationPlan to insert data into a simple table, in which one of the column datatypes is XML. It is trying to create the schema table using this sql: CREATE TABLE SubSonicSchemaInfo ( version int NOT NULL CONSTRAINT DF_SubSonicSchemaInfo_version DEFAULT (0) ) Which doesn't work on oracle. The correct sql would be: CREATE TABLE SubSonicSchemaInfo ( version int DEFAULT (0), constraint DF_SubSonicSchemaInfo_version primary key (version) ) The funny thing is that since this is the very first sql executed by subsonic migrations, NOBODY EVER TESTED it on oracle.

  I have the following query, now the strange thing is if I run this query on my development and pre-prod server it runs fine. If I run it on production it fails. I have figured out that if I run just the Select statement its happy but as soon as I try insert into the table variable it complains.   I,m trying to work through and test a Voice Recognition example based on the VoiceRecognition.java example at http://developer.android.com/resources/samples/ApiDemos/src/com/example/android/apis/app/VoiceRecognition.html but when click on the button to create the activity, I get a dialog that says Connection problem. My Manifest file is using the Internet Permission, and I understand it passes the to the Google Servers. Do I need to do anything else to use this. Code below UPDATE: Ok, I was able to replace my emulator image with one from HTC that appears to come with Google Voice Search, however now when I run from the emulator, i'm getting an Audio Problem message with Speak Again or Cancel buttons. It appears to make it back to the onActivityResult(), but the resultCode is 0.   Hi there, I'm having trouble with a query in SQL Server 2008 on some forex trading data. I have a trades table and an orders table. A trade needs to comprise of 2 or more orders. DDL schema and sample data below. What I want to do is write a query that shows the profit/loss in pips for each trade. A pip is 1/1000th of a currency. So the difference between USD 1.3441 and 1.3442 is 1 pip in forex-speak. A trade usually has one entry order and multiple exit orders. So for example if I buy 3 lots of the currency pair GBP/USD at the exchange rate of 1.6100 and then sell 1 lot at 1.6150, 1 lot at 1.6200 and 1 lot at 1.6250 then the profit is (1.6150 - 1.6100) + (1.6200 - 1.6100) + (1.6250 - 1.6100), or 50 + 100 + 150 = 300 pips profit. The trade could also go the other way (Shorting). For example the currency pair can be sold first before it's bought back later at a cheaper price. I would like a query that returns the following: tradeId, currencyPair, profitInPips It seems like a pretty straightforward query, but it's eluding me right now. I came across an example on this website which I find to be exactly what I was looking for, but there is one problem. It references an object - Entity - and I don't know what namespace it is in. • Android: manifest targetSdkVersion change resulted in: icon not visible, widget no longer works, and

  I recently upgraded my Android app to support multiple resolutions. Previously, my Android.manifest file had a line: To support multiple density and resolution devices, I changed this to: <supports-screens android:smallScreens="false" android:normalScreens="true" android:largeScreens="true" android:anyDensity="true" /> <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="3" android:targetSdkVersion="4" /> I then added a couple of new directories, like drawable-hdpi-v4 and drawable-long-hdpi-v4 that includes the high-res versions of the graphics. That's about it. Ever since releasing this update, there have been a decent number of users complaining about various problems: - the app icon doesn't appear (I did not create a high res version of the icon) - the home screen widget no longer works, even if they delete and re-add it (this code did not change with the update). I've had a user send me their error log, which shows: 03-19 20:59:41.617 W/ActivityManager( 1854): Unable to launch app com.alt12.babybump/10078 for broadcast Intent { action=android.appwidget.action.APPWIDGET_UPDATE flags=0x4 comp={com.alt12.babybump/com.alt12.babybump.WidgetGirl} (has extras) }: process is bad There is one questionable section in my existing widget code that may be relevant: @Override public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) { // v1.5 fix that doesn't call onDelete Action final String action = intent.getAction(); if (AppWidgetManager.ACTION_APPWIDGET_DELETED.equals(action)) { final int appWidgetId = intent.getExtras().getInt( AppWidgetManager.EXTRA_APPWIDGET_ID, AppWidgetManager.INVALID_APPWIDGET_ID); if (appWidgetId != AppWidgetManager.INVALID_APPWIDGET_ID) { this.onDeleted(context, new int[] { appWidgetId }); } } else { super.onReceive(context, intent); } } And perhaps most troublesome: the sqlite database is no longer accessible/writeable for some users so their data is no longer available. I did add the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission to the manifest. This is only happening to certain users and it tends to be HTC Eris users. In that error log I see things such as: 03-19 16:00:56.173 E/FlurryAgent( 4791): java.io.FileNotFoundException: /data/data/com.alt12.babybump/files/.flurryagent.-2333f5cb 03-19 16:00:56.173 E/FlurryAgent( 4791): at org.apache.harmony.luni.platform.OSFileSystem.open(OSFileSystem.java:231) 03-19 16:01:09.393 E/Database( 4791): sqlite3_open_v2("/data/data/com.alt12.babybump/databases/uitematmamad.db", &handle, 6, NULL) failed 03-19 16:01:09.393 W/System.err( 4791): android.database.sqlite.SQLiteException: unable to open database file It's as if the update has caused a new process and it can't access the old process's data, or something. Any help appreciated!
