Main Thread: 2 Main Thread: 1 Main thread exiting. And some times it's giving me same output in both the cases. So, i am not getting the exact change in both the scenario.     I'm trying to validate that a user only enters a long value as input (long bigger than 0 actually). Compare and Range validator has DataTypeCheck for int values only. I was planning on using this class in a CustomValidator but then I would need to write both, client and server side validation code. Do you know of any other good way of doing this? Thanks!

  • problem with two .NET threads and hardware access

    I'm creating an application which communicates with the device via FT2232H USB/RS232 converter. For communication I'm using FTD2XX_NET.dll library from FTDI website. I'm using two threads: first thread continuously reads data from the device the second thread is the main thread of the Windows Form Application I've got a problem when I'm trying to write any data to the device while the receiver's thread is running. The main thread simply hangs up on ftdiDevice.Write function. I tried to synchronize both threads so that only one thread can use Read/Write function at the same time, but it didn't help. Below code responsible for the communication. Note that following functions are methods of FtdiPort class.   • C# Begin/EndReceive - how do I read large data?

    When reading data in chunks of say, 1024, how do I continue to read from a socket that receives a message bigger than 1024 bytes until there is no data left? Should I just use BeginReceive to read a packet's length prefix only, and then once that is retrieved, use Receive() (in the async thread) to read the rest of the packet? Or is there another way? edit: I thought Jon Skeet's link had the solution, but there is a bit of a speedbump with that code. The reason for this is if the buffer gets filled on a read it is assumed there is more data; but the same problem happens as before. A 2 byte buffer, for exmaple, gets filled twice on a 4 byte packet, and assumes there is more data. It then blocks because there is nothing left to read. The problem is that the receive function doesn't know when the end of the packet is. This got me thinking to two possible solutions: I could either have an end-of-packet delimiter or I could read the packet header to find the length and then receive exactly that amount (as I originally suggested). There's problems with each of these, though. I don't like the idea of using a delimiter, as a user could somehow work that into a packet in an input string from the app and screw it up. It also just seems kinda sloppy to me. The length header sounds ok, but I'm planning on using protocol buffers - I don't know the format of the data. Is there a length header? How many bytes is it? Would this be something I implement myself? Etc.. What should I do?

  • Connection Refused running multiple environments on Selenium Grid 1.04 via Ubuntu 9.04

    Hello, I'm writing a selenium grid test suite which is going to be run on a series of different machines. I wrote most of it on my macbook but have recently transfered it over to my work machine, which is running ubuntu 9.04. That's actually my first experience with a linux machine, so I may be missing something very simple (I have disabled the firewall though). I haven't been able to get the multienvironment thing working at all, and I've been trying and manual reviewing for a while. Any recommendations and help would be greatly, greatly appreciated!     Hello. I'm trying to write a performance measurements library for Scala. My idea is to transparently 'mark' sections so that the execution time can be collected. Unfortunately I wasn't able to bend the compiler to my will. I use mkTimer like this: val myTimer = mkTimer('aTimer) val myString= myTimer { (1 to 100000).mkString("-") } println (myString) But I get a compiler error: error: type mismatch; found : String required: () => Nothing (1 to 100000).mkString("-") I get the same error if I inline the currying: val timerBigString = time('timerBigString) _ val bigString = timerBigString { (1 to 100000).mkString("-") } println (bigString) This works if I do val timerBigString = time('timerBigString) (_: String), but this is not what I want. I'd like to defer typing of the partially applied function until application. I conclude that the compiler is deciding the return type of the partial function when I first create it, chosing "Nothing" because it can't make a better informed choice. So I guess what I'm looking for is a sort of late-binding of the partially applied function. Is there any way to do this? Or maybe is there a completely different path I could follow?   • How to make and use first object in Objective C to store sender tag

    I started with a sample program that simply sets up a UIView with some buttons on it. Works great. I want to access the sender tag from each button and save it. My first thought was to save it to a global variable but I couldn't get it to work right. I thought the best way would be to create an object with one property and synthesize it so I can get or set it as needed. First, I created GlobalGem.h: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface GlobalGem : NSObject { int gemTag; } @property int gemTag; -(void) print; @end Then I created GlobalGem.m: #import "GlobalGem.h" @implementation GlobalGem @synthesize gemTag; -(void) print { NSLog(@"gemTag value is %i", gemTag); } @end The sample code I worked from doesn't do anything I can see in "main" where the program initializes. They just have their methods and are set up to handle IBOutlet actions. I want to use this object in the IBOutlet methods. But I don't know where to create the object. In the viewDidLoad, I tried this: GlobalGem *aGem = [[GlobalGem alloc]init]; [aGem print]; I added reference to the .h file of course. The print method works. In the nslog I get "gemTag value is 0". But now I want to use the instance aGem in some of the IBOutlet actions. For instance, if I put this same method in one of the outlet actions like this: - (IBAction)touchButton:(id)sender { [aGem print]; } ...I get a build error saying that "aGem is undeclared". Yes, I'm new to objective c and am very confused. Is the instance I created, aGem, in the viewDidLoad not accessible outside of that method? How would I create an instance of a Class that I can store a variable value that any of the IBOutlet methods can access? All the buttons need to be able to store their sender tag in the instance aGem and I'm stuck. As I mentioned earlier, I was able to write the sender tag to a global variable I declared in the UIView .h file that came with the program, but I ran into issues using it. Where am I off?

    Let's say there's a table created as follows: create table testTable ( colA int not null ) How would you drop the not null constraint? I'm looking for something along the lines of ALTER TABLE testTable ALTER COLUMN colA DROP NOT NULL; which is what it would look like if I used PostgreSQL. To my amazement, as far as I've been able to find, the MySQL docs, Google and yes, even Stackoverflow (in spite of dozens or hundreds of NULL-related questions) don't seem to lead towards a single simple SQL statement which will do the job.
