• Updating Visual FoxPro from SQL Server

  I'm trying to update some simple Visual FoxPro tables with SQL Server. I've created a linked server with the following: sp_addlinkedserver @server = 'UTIL', @srvproduct = 'VFP', @provider = 'VFPOLEDB', @datasrc = 'L:\M2MDATA\Util\util.dbc' GO And the following works: select * from UTIL...utcomp However, I cannot use the following statement: update util...utcomp set fmaddress = '123 Elvis Dr.' where fcsqldb = 'M2MDATA01' I receive the error: OLE DB provider "VFPOLEDB" for linked server "util" returned message "Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.". Msg 7333, Level 16, State 2, Line 2 Cannot fetch a row using a bookmark from OLE DB provider "VFPOLEDB" for linked server "util". I have the latest version (9.0) installed so I should have the latest provider. Am I doing something wrong? Is it not possible to update VFP from SQL?

• Facebook friends.getLists failing

  Hi all, I'm trying a simple request on Facebook to return all my friend lists. I'm trying this in Facebook's test console, as well as through an iPhone app i'm working on. friends.getLists (also alternatively through FQL) SELECT flid, name FROM friendlist WHERE owner=4810796 I am currently logged in, so using that number should be valid. Both are returning an empty list (not erroring out), but I am certain that I have a few friend lists set up. I've also tried using this with a test account I set up, but got the same results. I could have sworn this command was working earlier. Can anyone please either verify or reject that this is happening for them? Thanks.

• Jquery UI Slider - Input a Value and Slider Move to Location

  I was wondering if anyone has found a solution or example to actually populating the input box of a slider and having it slide to the appropriate position onBlur() .. Currently, as we all know, it just updates this value with the position you are at. So in some regards, I am trying to reverse the functionality of this amazing slider. One link I found: http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-177578.html is a bit outdated, but looks like they made an attempt. However, the links to the results do not exist. I am hoping that there may be a solution out there. I know Filament has re-engineered the slider to handle select (drop down) values, and it works flawlessly.. So the goal would be to do the same, but with an input text box. Any help would be incredible! Thanks in Advance!! Robert

  I have been looking for a way to define an autoincrement data type in Oracle and have found these questions on Stack Overflow: Autoincrement in Oracle Autoincrement Primary key in Oracle database The way to use autoincrement types consists in defining a sequence and a trigger to make insertion transparent, where the insertion trigger looks so: create trigger mytable_trg before insert on mytable for each row when (new.id is null) begin select myseq.nextval into :new.id from dual; end; I have some doubts about the behaviour of this trigger: What does this trigger do when the supplied value of "id" is different from NULL? What does the colon before "new" mean? I want the trigger to insert the new row with the next value of the sequence as ID whatever the supplied value of "new.id" is. I imagine that the WHEN statement makes the trigger to only insert the new row if the supplied ID is NULL (and it will not insert, or will fail, otherwise). Could I just remove the WHEN statement in order for the trigger to always insert using the next value of the sequence?

  Hi all, I want to store data in a cookie and I am not exactly sure how I will go about it. The data is the UserName, and Password values for the users that are logging into a website, e.g. sometime like this UserName = bob, Password=Passw0rd1 UserName = harry, Password=BLANK UserName = george, Password=R0jjd6s What this means is that bob and george logged into the site and chose to have their password remembered, but harry chose for his password not to be remembered. So on the login dialog a dropdown will be present with all the usernames in it 'bob', 'harry', 'george'. If they select the username bob the password will automatically be filled in, etc. So how does that information need to be stored in the cookie? Like it is above, or does it have to be, UserName1 = bob, Password1=Passw0rd1 UserName2 = harry, Password2=BLANK UserName3 = george, Password3=R0jjd6s Are the username and password values actually stored in the same cookie, or is each piece of data separate? Any information would be good.

• Excel parsing (xls) date error

  I'm working on a project where I have to parse excel files for a client to extract data. An odd thing is popping up here: when I parse a date in the format of 5/9 (may 9th) in the excel sheet, I get 39577 in my program. I'm not sure if the year is encoded here (it is 2008 for these sheets). Are these dates the number of days since some sort of epoch? Does anyone know how to convert these numbers to something meaningful? I'm not looking for a solution that would convert these properly at time of parsing from the excel file (we already have thousands of extracted files that required a human to select relevant information - re-doing the extraction is not an option).

  I am trying to select nodes except from script nodes and a ul that has a class called 'relativeNav'. Can someone please direct me to the right path? I have been searching for this for a week and I can't find it anywhere. Currently I have this but it obviously selecting the //ul[@class='relativeNav'] as well. • UIImagePickerController Causes my app to crash!

  In my app, a user can select an image, change the picture of a UIImageView to the new imge, and save the image to NSUserDefaults using NSKeyedArchiver. When the user selects the image the app immediately crashes! • Avoid implicit conversion from date to timestamp for selects with Oracle 11g using Hibernate

  I'm using Hibernate 3.2.1 criteria queries to select rows from an Oracle 11g database, filtering by a timestamp field. The field in question is of type java.util.Date in Java, and DATE in Oracle. It turns out that the field gets mapped to java.sql.Timestamp, and Oracle converts all rows to TIMESTAMP before comparing to the passed in value, bypassing the index and thereby ruining performance. One solution would be to use Hibernate's sqlRestriction() along with Oracle's TO_DATE function. That would fix performance, but requires rewriting the application code (lots of queries). So is there a more elegant solution? Since Hibernate already does type mapping, could it be configured to do the right thing?

• Poco SocketReactor Scalability

  I have written a proxy server for Linux using Poco but have since been reading up on the various approaches to achieving TCP/IP server scalability. I will need the server to handle persistent connections (not HTTP traffic) with an upper limit of about 250 simultaneous connections. Each connection typically uses about 5-10Kb/sec and the best possible latency in handling traffic is crucial. As it stands I am using the Poco SocketReactor which uses the Reactor model with a select() call at its heart however I have had a read on the C10K problem as well as few other resources and it seems that using this approach might not be the best idea. I believe there is a test implementation in the Poco libs that uses poll() so this could be an option to improve things. Does anyone have any experience using a Poco SocketReactor and do you have any idea how well it might scale for my scenario? If it will not scale well, suggestions on alternatives would be appreciated.

Anybody know what the problem could be?

• C# timer won't tick

  hi, i have a strange problem... I've been going out of my mind for the past couple of hours... the timer i put in my winform code (from the toolbar) won't tick... I have timers on a couple of forms in my program, they all work fine... I try to do exactly the same it this it won't tick... I select it, drag it on to a form, enable it, set interval and handle the tick event... and nothing happens... i even tried putting random code like messagebox.show in the tick event just to see if anything happens, and nothing!!! as I said, a have a couple of more timer in my program (on other forms, not in the one i'm trying to put this timer) and they all work fine... any suggestions? thanks in advance!

• NDepend query methods/types in framework assembly being used by other assemblies/types

  I am trying to determine which types or methods in a base framework assembly are being used by other assemblies in the application system. I cannot seem to find a straight-cut query to do that. What i have to do is first determine which assemblies are directly using the framework assembly, then manually list them in a second query SELECT TYPES FROM ASSEMBLIES "IBM.Data.DB2" WHERE IsDirectlyUsedBy "ASSEMBLY:FirstDirectUsedByAssebmly" OR IsDirectlyUsedBy "ASSEMBLY:SecondDirectUsedByAssebmly" OR IsDirectlyUsedBy "ASSEMBLY:ThirdDirectUsedByAssebmly" OR IsDirectlyUsedBy "ASSEMBLY:FourthDirectUsedByAssebmly" Is there a better/faster way to query for this? Additionally, the query results are focused on the matched types only. The Dependency graph or matrix exported only shows details of those. I do not know how to render a graph that shows those types or methods plus show the dependent types/methods from other assemblies that are consuming them?

So we only have Users, PrivilegeGroups and rdPrivileges entities. PrivilegeGroups and rdPrivileges are many to many relationship. What I need to do is retrieve all code from rdPrivileges table based on a passed in userId. How can I do it? • Saving selected rows in a jqGrid while paging

  I have a jqGrid with which users will select records. A large number of records could be selected across multiple pages. The selected rows seem to get cleared out when the user pages through the data. Is it up to the developer to manually track the selected rows in an array? I'm fine doing this, but I'm not sure what the best way is. I'm not sure I want to be splicing an array whenever any number of records are selected as that seems like it could really slow things down. My end goal is to have a jQueryUI dialog that, when closed, while store all the selected rows so I can post it to the server. Insight, questions, comments; all are appreciated!   I am using VFPOLEDB driver to read DBF files and I keep getting this error and I am not sure why and how to fix the problem: The provider could not determine the Decimal value. For example, the row was just created, the default for the Decimal column was not available, and the consumer had not yet set a new Decimal value. Here is the code. • Why doesn’t ABPersonViewController show any properties besides the name?

  For some reason, ABPersonViewController is unwilling to display any properties aside from the name, no matter what properties are set for it to display. I’m unable to use the AddressBookUI controllers to let a user select a contact to display, since my UI has custom requirements, otherwise I’d go that route (as Apple does in their sample project.)   In my project i have a lot of css styles. Some of them are never used (not anymore). I check this manually with eclipse: i select text and then with "Search - Text - Project" i can find, if this style occurs only in the stylesheet or also in java files. Is there better way to check, which styles are currently used in my GWT project? edit: @Igor,Keith: thanks for the hint, but i'm not using the CssResource to insert my css file. Instead i use my index.html. And i want to remove the unused styles just for better overview. CssResource is not exactly, what i'm looking for.

  I have the following query: $this->select() ->where("`name` LIKE ?",'%'.mysql_escape_string($name).'%') Now I have the Zend_Paginator code: $paginator = new Zend_Paginator( // $d is an instance of Zend_Db_Select new Zend_Paginator_Adapter_DbSelect($d) ); $paginator->getAdapter()->setRowCount(200); $paginator->setItemCountPerPage(15) ->setPageRange(10) ->setCurrentPageNumber($pag); $this->view->data = $paginator; As you see I'm passing the data to the view using $this->view->data = $paginator Before I didn't had $paginator->getAdapter()->setRowCount(200);I could determinate If I have any data or not, what I mean with data, if the query has some results, so If the query has some results I show the to the user, if not, I need to show them a message(No results!) But in this moment I don't know how can I determinate this, since count($paginator) doesn't work anymore because of $paginator->getAdapter()->setRowCount(200);and I'm using this because it taks about 7 sec for Zend_Paginator to count the page numbers. So how can I find If my query has any results?
