• GWT and Panda Video Converter

  I'm writing GWT application where I need to upload video file and encode that video into different video formats. I've decided to use Panda Video Converter. I was able to run panda on my EC2 instance (using their image) and I can upload video from Panda's test pages but now I'm trying to make same thing with my own application in GWT. The question that I have is: How do I get Video id and how do I post my video to the server. What URL do I need to use for that? I tried to read their documentation but have no clue where to start. This is my fist time working with webservices and url, probably that's why I don't how it works.

• Good tools which generate NUnit unit tests for .NET assemblies in Visual Studio 2008

  Hey guys, I'm pretty new to Unit Testing so bare with me. I realize that best best practice is not to auto generate unit tests, however I'd like to use Code Generation to set-up the basic skeleton of the tests. Now, I know Visual Studio 2008 already has the built in "create tests", however, it just creates a flat list of all the classes it's going to test... and it's not for NUnit right? Ideally, I'd like the code generation to follow the folder AND namespace structure of the assembly its generating tests for. Can you guys recommend any good tools which generate NUnit unit tests for .NET assemblies in Visual Studio 2008? cheers!

• GameQuery Collision Detection

  I am having a problem with GameQuery (jQuery) collision detection Tthey just never seem to fire?!? I have checked all the .arrow's exist and the same for the .bot's but it just never seems to call the function I have the below code in my main callback: $(".bot").each(function(){ $(this).collision(".arrow").each(function(){ alert("Test"); }); }); Do you have any idea why this would just simply be doing nothing? The bot walks (has it's x value) moved right over the arrow. Current revision online at http://labs.pezcuckow.com/solveit/game.html (no where near finished) if anyone doesn't mine having a look! • SQL: Gather right hand values from a join

  Let's say a question has many tags, via a join table called taggings. I do a join thus: SELECT DISTINCT `questions`.id FROM `questions` LEFT OUTER JOIN `taggings` ON `taggings`.taggable_id = `questions`.id LEFT OUTER JOIN `tags` ON `tags`.id = `taggings`.tag_id I want to order the results according to a particular tag name, eg 'piano', so that piano is at the top, then by all the other tags in alphabetical order. Currently i'm using this order clause: ORDER BY (tags.name = 'piano') desc, tags.name Which is going completely wrong - the first results i get back aren't even tagged with 'piano' at all. I think my problem is that i need to group the tag names somehow and do my ordering test against that: i think that doing it against the straight tags.name isn't working due to the structure of the resultant join table (it does work if i just do a simple select on the tags table) but i can't get my head around how to fix it. grateful for any advice, max

• Screen capture from windows service

  I've got DirectShow based screen capture software. Internally it calls CopyScreenToBitmap function to grab screen. Then the picture is compressed by ffdshow. It works fine as a desktop application, but as window service, on certain computers it does not work (black picture). I've set 'Allow service to interact with desktop' and run that service on current user account. Any ideas what could be wrong? I test it on windows XP, but it is expected to work on Vista and 7 as well. Yes it works as desktop application on all computers, but on some of them (on majority of them) it fails as a service.

• Visual Studio 2008 Build question x64 vs x86

  Hi Everyone, I have written an application on my x64 machine in Visual Stuido 2008. The application will be sent to someone, and I have two questions that I need answers to. What requirements will they need to have installed. I am assuming the .NET 3.5 redistributable. Are there anything else though? (The application does not call any external dependencies). This is my realy question that I can't find the answer to. I have developed and build the application on my x64 machine using the "Any CPU" option (as versus x64 or x86 specifically). Will this run on a 32 bit machine? (I don't have one to test). Or do I need to build it specifically for x86 in order to run it on a 32 bit machine? Many thanks, Brett

  I am attempting to uplaod a Word doc and then write it line by line in HTML. I made a referecne to the Microsoft Word Object Library. Then I use the following code to grab the and put it in a string variable. However, I have tried multiple regex statements to replace the new line character with "" but nothing I have tried has worked... • How do I get Java to use the serial port in Linux?

  We make use of a java application that manages a pinpad via the serial port. This works perfectly on windows with the Sun Comm.jar, the supplied dll and the properties file. Now we are attempting to use this solution on Linux (actually it does run on various other flavours of linux out in the field) - with Ubuntu server mode. After much attempts - blood, sweat and almost tears we have this scenario: Java version 1.4.2_17 Linux - Ubuntu Comm libs - Comm3 supplied by sun with the default driver specified An external comm test shows the comm ports: /dev/ttyS0 and /dev/ttyS1 But the java application says unable to open port /dev/ttyS1 (using the RXRT files produces invalid port errors) Has anyone been able to use java 1.4.2 on linux for serial port communication and found a solution that I could apply in my scenario? greatly appreciated Phill

• VS2013: How to debug a web application under a specific app domain?

  I have a few applications running under one app domain using port 80. I'm using port 80 to test and develop web application code. I want to take those same applications and publish them in a different app domain under a different port, 8001. This way, clients can view my applications that's using port 8001 while I develop and compile my project on port 80. However, when I debug my application, it freezes both the web applications on both port 80 and 8001. How can I debug my application under port 80 without affecting the web applications under port 8001?

• Stream a continously growing file over tcp/ip

  Hello, I have a project I'm working on, where a piece of Hardware is producing output that is continuously being written into a textfile. What I need to do is to stream that file as it's being written over a simple tcp/ip connection. I'm currently trying to that through simple netcat, but netcat only sends the part of the file that is written at the time of execution. It doesn't continue to send the rest. Right now I have a server listening to netcat on port 9000 (simply for test-purposes): netcat -l 9000 And the send command is: netcat localhost 9000 < c:\OUTPUTFILE So in my understanding netcat should actually be streaming the file, but it simply stops once everything that existed at the beginning of the execution has been sent. It doesn't kill the connection, but simply stops sending new data. How do I get it to stream the data continuously? Thanks for any help!

• Setup requires .NET 4.0 - System already has .net 4.0

  Hi all, I created a service which I now want to install to test, I created a setup program from the templates in VS2010. When running the setup program it prompts me to download and install .net fw 4.0, but I already have it installed. I did try to just install the file that I get pointed to (4.0 cliet), but not only does it still not work, it causes vs2010 to throw an unknown error and can't open. I've now uninstalled everything (including vs2010 beta) and started afresh with VS2010 ultimate trial full version, framework 4.0 and win 7 but it still prompts me to install fw 4.0 when I try to run the setup. Can anyone please point me in the right direction? Thanx in advance Willem

  I know this is not a programming question. Let's try to label it a programming community question so that it doesn't get closed. I've been wondering what makes the programming community so prone to helping others in stackoverflow. Is this something particular to programmers? Do you think lawyers and accountants would help other lawyers and programmers as we do? What makes you come back to stackoverflow every day? It would be great to have an answer per reason so that we can get the list of reasons. In my case, I come to stackoverflow to ask questions that I can't solve quickly, and to test how good I am when answering questions. So far I’ve failed miserably at trying to answer questions but it has helped me understand how little I know.

• ASP.NET treeview populate child nodes. How can I avoid a postback to server?

  I am trying to test populate on demand for a treeview. I follow the procedure from these links: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/e8z5184w.aspx But the treeview still make a postback to the server if I expanded one of the tree nodes (If you put a breakpoint in the first line of Page_load event), thus refreshing the whole page. • How can I copy files with timestamps between 2 times and preserve the directory structure

  I want to copy files that have timestamps from the time the script begins to run and a hour previous. So I am basically trying to emulate robocopy but with minage and maxage going down to the exact time rather than days. • saving the videos and photos in iPhone Simultor 4.0

  Hi All, From 4.0 apple has extended their api support to access the videos and photos from the phone. I am using only iPhone 4.0 simulator to test my application. When I try to save the video as apple has mentioned in their api docs, its giving the error something like "Error Saving the Asset". • Tutorials for .NET database app

  My earlier question and comments are at "What is ADO.NET". This shows my level of knowledge about c# database apps. Can someone point me to tutorials and/or primers that can help me proceed from where I am (also stated in other question)? I've looked and all I've found are tutorials that talk about general db basics (ie, not helping with VS/C#), or talk about connecting to existing SQL db's. I need help setting one up and configuring it, as well as help on how to create and use queries to test the db schema.

• Google Maps v3 InfoWindow Too Wide

  In Google Maps v3, I can't seem to get my infoWindow to a width smaller than 200px. • IE8 AJAX GET setRequestHeaders not working unless params provided in URL

In IE8 however, all of my AJAX test requests work EXCEPT for ones where I'm performing GETs without any query string params (such as the one above). POSTs work without question, and GET requests only work whenever I include query strings in the URL, like this: xhr.open( 'GET', '/ajax/?foo=bar' ) I'm also 110% positive that my server code is handling these requests appropriately, so, this stumps me completely. Does anyone have any clue as to what might be causing this?
