• HTML tag closes when inside a condition

  I'm having a little problem with jade. Here is the following code : each user in users - if (user.valid == 1) tr(style="color:green;") - else tr(style="color:red;") td = user.mail td = user.lastIp td = user.token td = user.valid My problem is that the tds are created only in the else case. if the if (user.valid == 1) is true, then it creates an empty tr. Is there a way I can create my tr with this condition, and then only fill them ? Thanks :)

  hello, using XMLHttpRequest it is not possible to open a connection to a document on a different domain than where the page itself is hosted. but what about different ports? for example i have a webserver running on my machine listening on port 80 so the webaddress would look like this: http://localhost:80/mypage.html and i have another webserver running on localhost which is meant to process the ajax requests but listens on a different port. so the javascript in mypage.html would look like this: var xmlhttprequest = new XMLHttpRequest(); xmlhttp.open("GET", "http://localhost:1234/?parameters", true); xmlhttp.send(); would this work? or will it give a security exception as well?

• How to create an image from canvas data?

  In my application I am trying to save an arbitrary part of a rendered HTML canvas to an image file. In my Javascript I call ctx.getImageData(x, y, w, h) and pass the resulting object to my macruby code (though if you know a solution in objc I am also very interested). There I'm trying to create a NSBitmapImageRep object so that I can then save to an image format the user desires. • What is the best way to keep database data encrypted with user passwords?

  Let's say an application has really specific data which belongs to a user, and nobody is supposed to see it except the owner. I use MySQL database with DataMapper ORM mapper. The application is written in Ruby on Sinatra. Application behavior: User signs up for an account. Creates username and password. Logs into his dashboard. Some fields in specific tables must be protected. Basically, I'm looking for auto-encryption for a model properties. Something like this: class Transaction include DataMapper::Resource property :id, Serial property :value, String, :length => 1024, :encrypted => true ... etc ... belongs_to :user end I assume that encryption/decryption on the fly will cause performance problems, but that's ok. At least if that works - I'm fine. Any ideas how to do this?

• WCF: How to find out when a session is ending?

  I have a WCF application that is using sessions. Is there any central event to get thrown when a session ends? How can I find out when a session is ending WITHOUT (!) calling a method (network disconnect, client crashing - so no "logout" method call)? The server is hosted as: [ServiceBehavior( InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.PerSession, ConcurrencyMode = ConcurrencyMode.Reentrant, UseSynchronizationContext = false, IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults = true )] Basically because it is using a callback interface. Now, I basically need to decoubple the instance created from the backend store when the session terminates ;) Any ideas?

• strsplit in R with metacharacter

  I have received a large amount of data where the delimiter is a backslash (obviously a bad choice). I'm processing it in R for computation, and having a hard time finding how to split the string since the backslash is a metacharacter. For example, a string would look like this: "1128\0019\XA5\E2R\366\00=15" and I want to split it along the "\" character, but when I run the strsplit command: strsplit(tempStr, "\") Error in strsplit(tempStr, "\") : invalid regular expression '\', reason 'Trailing backslash' When I try to used the "fixed" option, it does not run because it is expecting something after the backslash: strsplit(tempStr, "\", fixed = TRUE) Unfortunately, I can't preprocess the data with another program because the data is generated daily. Please help and thanks!

  I am working in an android application and I want to Clear my Bitmap data. The scenario is that I am taking a screen capture of an Widget(Imageview) and I am storing it in a Bitmap. This action comes in a Button click. SO after some time I get a Memory error. So I want to clear the values in the bitmap. Firefox throws an error that simply says "$(" for that line. Anyone know what might be causing this?

  I have a post controller that has many comments. The post model has a field called has_comments which is a boolean (so I can quickly select from the database only posts that have comments). To create a new comment for a post, I use the create action of my comments controller. After I create the comment I need to update my post's has_comments field and set it to true. I can update this field from the create action of my comments controller, but that doesn't seem right - I feel that I should really be using the post's update action, but I'm not sure if it's right to call it (via send?) from the create action of the comments controller. Where should the code for updating the post be? Thank you!

• trouble setting up TreeViews in pygtk

  I've got some code in a class that extends gtk.TreeView, and this is the init method. I want to create a tree view that has 3 columns. A toggle button, a label, and a drop down box that the user can type stuff into. The code below works, except that the toggle button doesn't react to mouse clicks and the label and the ComboEntry aren't drawn. (So I guess you can say it doesn't work). • Function chaining depending on boolean result

  This is just an efficiency question really.. I'm interested to know if there is a more efficient or logical way that people use to handle this sort of scenario. In my asp.net application I am running a script to generate a new project my code at the top level looks like this: Dim ok As Boolean = True ok = createFolderStructure() If ok Then ok = createMDB() If ok Then ok = createProjectConfig() If ok Then ok = updateCompanyConfig() I create a boolean and each function returns a boolean result, the next function in this chain will only run if the previous one was successful. I do this because an asp.net application will continue to run through the page life cycle unless there is an unhandled exception and I don't want my whole application to be screwed up if something in the chain goes wrong (there is a lot of copying and deleting of files etc.. in this example). I was just wondering how other people handle this scenario? the vb.net single line if statement is quite succinct but I'm wondering if there is a better way?

  Can semantic errors be detected by the compiler or not? If not when do the errors get detected? As far as I know semantic errors are those errors which result from the expressions involving operators with incorrect number/type of operands. For example: n3=n1*n2;//n1 is integer, n2 is a string, n3 is an integer The above statement is semantically incorrect. But while reading C Primer Plus by Stephen Prata I found the following statement The compiler does not detect semantic errors, because they don't violate C rules. The compiler has no way of divining your true intentions. That leaves it to you to find these kinds of errors. One way is to compare what a program does to what you expected it to do. If not the compiler, who detects those errors? Am I missing something?

• Scrolling through list element causes text elements to scroll as well

  I'm using a list element with variableRowHeight and word-wrap set to true like in the example below: http://blog.flexexamples.com/2007/10/27/creating-multi-line-list-rows-with-variable-row-heights/ When I scroll through the list with a mouse scrollwheel the text in the listItems also scroll. I know that this is to do with the height of the textField... but I am unsure how to best resolve this issue. Any thoughts are appreciated! The issue that I am experiencing also occurs in the example above.

• How can I get an image too big from a server?

  I'm currenty developing for blackberry and just bumped into this problem as i was trying to download an image from a server. The servlet which the device communicates with is working correctly, as I have made a number of tests for it. But it gives me the 413 HTTP error ("Request entity too large"). I figure i will just get the bytes, uhm, portion by portion. How can i accomplish this? • while(0=0) evaluates to false

  b=10; while(a=b) { b--; if(b==-10)break; } B goes from 10 to -10. In my world, the while-statement, a=b, should always be true (since the assigment always "goes well"). That is not the case. When the loop stops, b will have a value of 0. In my world, it should pass 0 and go all the way to -10, when the if-statement kicks in. Have I misunderstood something major? (Code tested in IE8 and Adobe Acrobat)

  I want to bind the presence of an attribute to a variable in AngularJS. Specifically, sandbox for an iframe. Say I have $myCtrl.allowJavascript as a variable, I want to do: <iframe src="..." sandbox /> Where the sandbox attribute is present when allowJavascript == false, and I want the sandbox attribute to disappear when allowJavascript == true. Does AngularJS have a mechanism for this? The closest thing I could find was here, which basically says "it will just work for certain attributes"--but not for sandbox.

• Webservice for serial port devices

  Hi I want to create a remote webservice for an application that is now avaliable only localy. This application controlls three devices (each is controlled separately) connected on serial port. The problem is that I don't know how to take care of passing back information that a device return requested data. For example - I send move command to the motion device (which is very slow and can take a minute or more). Can I just set a big timeout on the client side (and server side) and return for example a true/false if operation is completed or is this a bad idea? Is SOAP with big timeouts ok? And the other question is if Mono on Linux (Ubuntu 9.10, Mono 2.4) is stable enought for making a web service or should I chose Java or some other language? I'm open for recommendations. • ASP.Net Problem with View Control

  I admit, I'm an .NET n00b. Basically what I'm trying to do is I have a page with a text box on it and an image button. On click of the image button I want it to show a view control I have set up. Inside this view control is an image and some text. Well when I click on the button for submit, I get the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." error message. Where am I going wrong?
