    I'm trying to mimic the json_encode bitmask flags implemented in PHP 5.3.0, here is the string I have: $s = addslashes('O\'Rei"lly'); // O\'Rei\"lly Doing json_encode($str, JSON_HEX_APOS | JSON_HEX_QUOT) outputs the following: "O\\\u0027Rei\\\u0022lly" And I'm currently doing this in PHP versions older than 5.3.0: str_replace(array('\\"', "\\'"), array('\\u0022', '\\\u0027'), json_encode($s)) or str_replace(array('\\"', '\\\''), array('\\u0022', '\\\u0027'), json_encode($s)) Which correctly outputs the same result: "O\\\u0027Rei\\\u0022lly" I'm having trouble understanding why do I need to replace single quotes ('\\\'' or even "\\'" [surrounding quotes excluded]) with '\\\u0027' and not just '\\u0027'.

    I have a date with a time. I'm using ruby, but the language shouldn't matter. d = "2010-04-01 13:00:00" What is the best way to format this date for Mongo DB? By 'best' I mean, is there a certain format I could use where Mongo would recognize it as a date and might give me more-advanced filtering optons? ie: If formatted correctly, could I ask Mongo to return all records whose month is '04'?   • Access to selection in gmail message body with Google Apps Script

    Can app scripts access the current selection in a gmail message? I frequently compose messages that include engineering calculations and make use of the Google Calc feature do the calculation or convert to the desired units, e.g. 4000 Btu/hr * 8 hrs in kWh It would be really convenient to be able to select the above, hit a mapped key (e.g. Ctrl-K) and have the inserted after the expression 4000 Btu/hr * 8 hrs in kWh = 0.9378 kWh instead of having to paste the expression into a search box and then copy and paste the answer. I could certainly write a solution using a keymapper and a small python script to grab the current selection, send it to the gcalc api, etc ..., but my real motivation is to get familiar with Apps Scripts's capabilities and limitations. I suppose the uber-question here is "what kinds of user actions and state information can App Script access in Gmail messages (and/or Google docs) that are being edited?"

    Okay I have been struggling with this for hours. What I am doing is creating array of what I call objects that can be moved around on a calendar. The idea is that we want to tie in a 'buddy' functionality to a communications app. Very broadly, I believe that the application clients would connect to a central database/auth service which would provide the buddy data and then allow client apps to connect directly to eachother, without passing communications through the server. Specifically, however, what solutions, software, products, servers, technologies, etc would be best to implement to handle such a task?     If I'm returning ["foo"] from a RESTful web query, Which of these is more proper? Will pedantic REST parsing die on the newline? ["foo"]\n (with newline, Content-Length=8) ["foo"] (no newline, Content-Length=7) For easy regression testing I like the form with the newline, but I want to make sure I won't be breaking any application frameworks that might have a more strict view of the REST format.

    I need to migrate our Sherweb.com exchange 2007 services to a Google Apps account. For the process I am really not sure.. I understand I should start with creating aliases for all email accounts within the exchange server, in Google Apps, and here I'm not sure how am I supposed to explain the Exchange that the DNS have changed without losing emails.'' Second thing is: How can I safely move the up-to 3GB mailboxes from the Exchange server to the new Google Apps accounts? Must it be with Outlook data files? If so, how do I actually upload the data files into the Google Apps account? And if not, what would be a proper way to do so? Would really appreciate any kind of help.

Does anyone have an idea how i could serialize the dictionary as <Enum, Int32>? I use the System.Web.Script.Serialization.JavaScriptSerializer for serialization.

So if a user is talking to more than one person at a time i need to loop through. the array's structure is as follows.
