  • How do I copy a package from Debian to my PPA?

    I'd like to add the latest gourmet package from Debian sid to our team's PPA so Ubuntu users who would like to run an up-to-date version of Gourmet can add that PPA to their software sources. (Dependency-wise, that shouldn't be much of an issue as pretty much all our current dependencies are already available in all currently supported Ubuntu versions.) I've downloaded the *.dsc file and debian and orig tarballs, and even figured out I could use this for the package's source.changes file. I also downloaded the Debian maintainer's public key so dput can validate the package. I then tried to upload the package to our PPA using dput ppa:~gourmet/ppa gourmet_0.17.3-1_source.changes (I also tried without the tilda.) This seemed to succeed, but I didn't get a confirmation email, and no packages are now displayed at our PPA, which leads me to believe that the package was rejected because the Debian maintainer's key is obviously not among our team members' keys. So what's the easiest way to "copy" a package from Debian (sid) to a Launchpad PPA? Do I really need to rebuild the entire package locally before I can upload it?

  • How can I avoid a few seconds of blank video when using -vcodec copy?

    I'm processing user-uploaded videos on a CentOS web server with ffmpeg. I need to convert each video to a standard size and format, then extract a 30-second sample clip from each video. I want to use the "-vcodec copy" flag in the extraction command to avoid encoding a second time. This command works for my initial conversion: ffmpeg -i uploaded.mov -f mp4 -vcodec libx264 -vpre medium -acodec libfaac -r 15 -b 360k -ab 48k -ar 22050 -s 480x320 formatted.mp4 And this sometimes works for the extraction: ffmpeg -i formatted.mp4 -vcodec copy -acodec copy -ss 0 -t 30 formatted_sample.mp4 However, when I run the extraction command on some videos, the extracted sample clip starts with several seconds of blank video. The audio starts right away but the video doesn't start for 3-6 seconds. To demonstrate the problem, I've uploaded two video clips and run the above commands on them. I created the first clip in Final Cut Express and encoded it with Handbrake before uploading to the web server: 1a) uploaded clip 1b) converted with first command 1c) extracted with second command, missing first six seconds By comparison, this second clip comes from Apple's website and does not show the problem: 2a) uploaded clip 2b) converted with first command 2c) extracted with second command, no problem Can anyone see what's different about the two source clips? And if so, is there anything I can do in my conversion command so that when the extraction command runs, the clip is set up to avoid the missing video? By the way, I initially had the problem with ffmpeg 0.6.1 installed from yum, but I upgraded to the latest git version and the problem remains.

Preferably, I'd like one as an exact copy of the main SSD and the other with incremental backups of the mysql database and a user uploads file. It is clear I failed. Because the LVM volume is too big, I do not have good idea why. I hope a good solution here.

But i need some more elaborated, because i have several Desktops and are in use by 2 or 3 users each one, so i want to make a class for copy a shortcut in his desktops. The computers are joined to a domain, so any user can log in any desktop, and his profile is created in every desktop.     I have one user account as admin with several iMovie projects. After a period of time, I created a standard user account. Now I want to move admin user's iMovie projects to standard user. What I tried was to copy admin's Movies folder content to standard user by dropping to standard user's public shared dropbox. Then I copied the content to standard user's Movies folder. However, I cannot see iMovie projects in standard user by iMovie app. Is there anyway to move projects from one user to another user? Or copy one user's data to another user? Not sure if I missed anything if just copying Movies folder?

  • SSL_CLIENT_CERT_CHAIN not being passed to backend server

    I have client certificate configured and working in Apache. I want to pass the PEM-encoded X.509 certificates of the client to the backend server. I tried with the SSLOptions +ExportCertData. This does nothing at all, while the documentation states it should add SSL_SERVER_CERT, SSL_CLIENT_CERT and SSL_CLIENT_CERT_CHAINn (with n = 0,1,2,..) as headers. Any ideas why this option is not working? I then tried setting the headers myself using RequestHeader. This works fine for all variables except SSL_CLIENT_CERT_CHAIN. It shows null in the header. Any ideas why the certificate chain is not being filled? I'm trying to clone/copy a VM that I installed on an ESXi installation. I was trying to follow along with the top example here: http://serverfault.com/questions/16320/is-there-a-way-to-clone-an-existing-vm-on-an-esxi-server-without-having-to-re-imp However, I'm using the vSphere client to connect to the ESXi box and manage it, and the vSphere client is telling me it won't let me rename the vmdk file. The real answer I want is how do I clone the VM I installed if I want to spin up 5 copies. Is there another utility I can use to copy the vmdk file, then create a new virtual machine using it? Any idea why they nerfed the feature in vSphere client?

  • Some apps very slow to load on Windows 7, copy & paste very slow.

    Hello, I searched here and couldn't find a similar issue to mine but apologies if I missed it. I've searched the web and no one else seems to be having the same issue either. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on a pretty high spec. machine (well, apart from the graphics): Asus M4A79T Deluxe AMD Phenom II 965 black edition (quad core, 3.4GHz) 8GB Crucial Ballistix DDR 1333MHz RAM 80GB Intex X25 SSD for OS 500GB mechanical drive for data. ATi Radeon HD 4600 series PCI-e Be Quiet! 850W PSU I think those are all the relevant stats, if you need anything else let me know. I've updated chipset, graphics and various other drivers all to no avail, the problem remains. I have also unplugged and replugged every connection internally and cleaned the RAM edge connectors. The problems: Video LAN (VLC) and CDBurnerXP both take ages to load, I'm talking 30 seconds and 1 minute respectively which is really not right. Copy and paste from Open Office spread sheet into Fire Fox, for example, is really, really slow, I'll have pressed control V 5 or 6 times before it actually happens, if I copy and then wait 5 to 10 seconds or so it'll paste first time so it's definitely some sort of time lag. Command and Conquer - Generals: Zero Hour. When playing it'll run perfectly for about 10 or 20 seconds then it'll just pause for 3 or 4 then run for another 10 or 20 seconds and pause again and so on. I had the Task Manager open on my 2nd monitor whilst playing once and I noticed it was using about 25% of the CPU, pretty stable but when the pause came another task didn't shoot up to 100% like others on the web have been reporting (similar but not the same as my issue, often svchost.exe for them) but dropped to 2 or 3% usage then back up to 25% when it started playing properly again. Very odd! But it gets even odder... I had a BSOD and reboot last week, when it rebooted the problem had completely gone, I could play C&C to my heart's content and both the other apps loaded instantly, copy and paste worked instantly too. I did an AVG update earlier this week which required a reboot, rebooted and the problem's back. I don't think it's AVG related though, I think it was just coincidence that's the app that required a reboot. I think any reboot would have brought the issue back. A number of reboots later and it hasn't gone away again. If any one could make any suggestions as to the likely cause and solution to these issues I'd be most grateful, it's driving me nuts!     I'm trying to forward metrics from gmetad to graphite/carbon. After configuring carbon_server and ganglia_prefix in gmetad.conf gmetad starts losing metrics. gmetad Version is 3.3.5, carbon/whisper/graphite-web is 0.9.8. There is no I/O bottleneck on the system and no CPU bottleneck (HP DL385G7 with 2 SSDs in RAID0), I even configured another gmetad on a remote host to send metrics to graphite/carbon, which also broke down. Does anyone else experience this?

When I try to copy a whole tree to the share, I get an error saying "The operation cannot be completed because you don't have access to some of the items". If I zip the directory, and copy that over, it succeeds. Any explanation?   • Is there a convenient way to manually copy the Log Shipping *.trn files from one SQL 2008 server to

    We have a remote SQL 2008 server (ServerB) that needs to keep a warm (15 minute interval is OK) copy of production data (ServerA). ServerA is also SQL 2008. Log Shipping looks like it will do the job. We can only get to the destination ServerB with remote desktop. Is there a way to set this up when we can't get to both servers from one Management Studio? We want to be able to temporarily (until a VPN is setup between our network and the ServerB network) manually export a small .trn file, copy it via remote desktop to ServerB and then manually import those transactions from the .trn file. My supervisor says he saw a post saying this is possible. We were just trying to avoid doing a full database backup and copying that every time. Thanks in advance for any suggestions on this.

    Given I am SSHed into a server and have tmux running, is there any straightforward way to be able to yank into a register in vim and: have that text be available in my tmux clipboard? have that text available in my osx clipboard? I know how to copy/paste in tmux and iterm2 seems to handle passing that onto my osx clipboard. However there are times when I want to yank text in a vim split screen and the tmux copy/paste won't do. Anyone figured this out? Thanks so much!

    If you select and copy a text from Internet Explorer and paste it in Miscrosoft Word, the formatting is preserved. If you do that in Opera or Firefox in Windows, it's lost, IIRC. I use Gnome desktop in Linux, and formatting is preserved nowhere, which is very inconvenient. Even if desktop lets me copy formatted text, I can't post it into any web form: WISYWIG Javascript forms will strip formatting and make me walk through the whole text and fix it manually. I don't know how things are in Macs. Is there a desktop + browser + editor set that allow passing formatted text consistently throughout?

    I plan to distribute a free CD that automatically copies files to a connected usb device. This process will be done on the computers of the users that obtain the cd. The CD will contain an autorun.ini file that will instruct the computer to copy a set of files located on the cd..to a specific directory on the connected usb device. The usb drive letter is not the same on all the systems, therefore...Windows XP should automatically know the drive letter of the usb device before the copy operation begins. What would be the best way of creating a short batch file or script that I can place on the CD to execute this process? Also, please note that it is NOT feasible or recommended to include a batch file on the USB devices to sync this operation due to the explanation at the beginning of this paragraph. :) Thank You All

    I use iTerm2 as my terminal client in Mac OS X. On the local system I can use pbcopy and pbpaste to transfer data between the system clipboard and the terminal, but of course this doesn't work when you're ssh'ed to another machine. Is there some way which I can take the result of a command and copy it to the clipboard automatically? Perhaps an applescript to grab the text on the iTerm windows, then get the next to last line? For instance, if I wanted to copy the current working directory: I run pwd, then use the mouse to select the text, and then press command + c. Is there any better / faster / automatic way of doing this? I'm not looking for a bulletproof solution that would work for every command (eg: might not work when there is a huge scrollback) - I'm just looking for something to make this task that I do quite often a little less tedious. Update I'm looking into using screen to do this, but I'm still not sure if it is possible.

    Hello I cannot copy photos and paste them from a word document into the text of an email on my Sony Laptop having already substantially redcued the size of the photos using Microsoft Office Picture Manager. I can readily manage to perform this functjon from my work place PC but am presently working mostly from home. I am trying to email photos and text using a btinternet.com email address but have checked that I cannot perform the task using my alternate googlemail email address either. I can obviously highlight the relevant photographs but whenever I try to copy or cut them into the email text the paste function is disabled. Assistance would be much appreciated. Kind regards Simon

Unfortunately I have also accidentally cut off copying process by accidentally closing off the SSH sessions. Is it possible for me to fork a cp or mv process on SSH? As it currently stands when I close the SSH session, be it by accidentally closing the terminal window or closing my laptop screen and putting it to sleep, the copy process stops. Can I do something like cp ~/blah /some/other/path & and have the process keep running to completion in the background even if the SSH session is terminated?

    When I copy text out of a PDF file and into a text editor, it ends up mangled in a variety of ways. Formatting like bold and italics are lost; soft line breaks within a paragraph of text are converted to hard line breaks; dashes to break a word over two lines are preserved even when they shouldn't be; and single and double quotes are replaced with ? signs. Ideally, I'd like to be able to copy text from a PDF and have formatting converted to HTML codes, "smart quotes" converted to " and ', and line breaks done properly. Is there any way to do this?
