  Back in the day, floppy disks were a: and if you were lucky b:, then when permanent storage came along c: was the default for hard disks (as I remember it) Now that many computers no longer have floppy disks is it possible to have your primary hard disk as A: is the convention out dated? Removable drives (like DVDs and flash readers) now seem to take lower precedence than permanent storage so it is a bit of an oddity that floppy disks should have higher letters.

  Upon starting Windows Server 2008 R2 I get this error message: Event ID 11 Disk The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk3\DR3. There are also also 3 more similar messages for Harddisk 2, 4, and 5, but not zero or 1. Checking the event viewer reveals it's been going on for 3 months. I ran chkdsk - no bad sectors. Any advice on the cause, better still, a solution?

  So I screwed up my grub.conf file on a CentOS system and I'm in recovery right now (it's only a test dedicated server). My disks are /dev/sda1 and /dev/sdb1 (RAID 1). Now I need to mount /dev/sda1 and make changes to the grub file, however those changed need to be reflected on the second disk aswell. How do I mount these RAID disks? I can mount one using mount -t ext3however it will damage the RAID array.

  We're running a website which enables users to download documents about our company, such as: -wallpapers with the company logo. -company logos in various flavours. -media kits in pdf format. Since these files are quite big in size (some reach 1MB), we no longer want them to be downloaded from our website directly as it's consuming our bandwidth. Accordingly we've been looking into document sharing services. For instance we found Scribd which could allow us to share pdf files, but not our wallpapers and logos which are in png format. Is there a free service we can use for our users to reliably download any type of files we want to host? (ideally on a service which allows users to easily browse through our files).

  i have this problem, not sure about the source of it, Basically the title describes the issue, I can access the webpage and see the html structure, but no resources are being donwloaded nor I have access to them using the browser that means, no javascript, no css styles and no images., any solutions?, Im using tomcat by the way. EDIT 1 If I access the tomcat manager from within the server it also blocks the images. I'm running on windows server 2008 R2.

• External USB disk drive cannot be remounted in Windows XP

  I have Maxtor Basics Desktop 1TB external USB drive connected to Windows XP. The dirve's firmware puts it to sleep after 10-20 min of inactivity and then the drive cannot be mounted unless I reset it via power connector. While in sleep mode I can see the device in the Device Manager under both Disk drives and USB sections. Is there a way to get the drive out of sleep mode without hard reset? Thanks

  I have the followjng problem with ISO master software: I try to edit WIndows 7 ISO image $ isomaster windows7.iso The file does open, unfortunately all I get is README with message: This disc contains a "UDF" file system and requires an operating system that supports the ISO-13346 "UDF" file system specification. isomaster comes form Ubuntu repository, I am using 12.04. The system has kernel support for UDF installed, I can mount above ISO (mount -o loop) and see its content read only. Any idea how to fix it? Using other than isomaster tool is also an option. For that to work, I need a removable storage device, or else it won't appear in LiveUSB Creator's list. Explorer lists my USB stick as a hard disk: LiveUSB Creator indeed doesn't show it in the device list: Is there any way of forcing Windows to see the stick as a removable storage device?
