    I've just came across this on GitHub. ($config === NULL) and $config = Kohana::config('email'); Is that the equivalent of if ($config === NULL) { $config = Kohana::config('email'); } Is this commonplace? Would I expect other developers looking at my code if I used that first way to instantly know what it was doing?

    Could someone please add comments to this code? Or, alternatively, what would be the pseudocode equivalent of this Ruby code?     I'm using some of Firefox's specially-defined values for cursor, in particular -moz-zoom-in -moz-zoom-out -moz-grab -moz-grabbing In order to display these on other browsers, I'd like to deploy the equivalent CUR files — but I can't seem to find these online, or in my copy of Firefox.     I generally test my web apps with Firefox and use Firebug. I love Firebug. But when I'm testing JavaScript code in IE I use the debugger in Microsoft's Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition. I would love to have an equivalent to Firebug's console.log methods which would allow me to log messages to Visual Web Developer. Any way to log messages to the error list/messages list/output pane using JavaScript?

    I'm trying to execute MS-DOS DEL commands inside a Win32 C program, and I already know that system and popen can be used for this. However, the problem is that both require string literals (type const char) for the commands, and I need something like the DOS equivalent of dir ~ | grep -P '/\d{7,8}\.exe$/' | rm, which obviously can't use string literals. Is there some other subprocess function in C that allows for char arrays as arguments for process names?

    I'm trying to make a test for checking whether a sys.argv input matches the regex for an IP address... As a simple test, I have the following... import re pat = re.compile("\d{1,3}.\d{1,3}.\d{1,3}.\d{1,3}") test = pat.match(hostIP) if test: print "Acceptable ip address" else: print "Unacceptable ip address" However when I pass random values into it, it returns "Acceptable ip address" in most cases, except when I have an "address" that is basically equivalent to \d+ Any thoughts welcome.     I'm moving some code from YUI to javascript and some of it is using YUI's YAHOO.util.Dom.getElementsBy(function). I've been reading through the prototype API docs and haven't been able to find something equivalent. It needs to be able to take an arbitrary function not just select off a CSS selector or the like. Can anyone suggest to me the best way to accomplish this in Prototype?

  • Pascal's repeat... until vs. C's do... while

    In C there is a do while loop and pascal's (almost) equivalent is the repeat until loop, but there is a small difference between the two, while both structures will iterate at least once and check whether they need to do the loop again only in the end, in pascal you write the condition that need to met to terminate the loop (REPEAT UNTIL something) in C you write the condition that need to be met to continue the loop (DO WHILE something). Is there a reason why there is this difference or is it just an arbitrary decision?

    I am trying to use the asin() function in an iOS app to calculate an angle from the y axis. I am using trigonometry, but I must be doing something wrong with the asin() function, as when I try to pass in 0.707.... as asin(rotation) where rotation is a double equivalent to 0.707..., I get around 0.78....., where as my calculator gives me 44.991..., which is about correct from the variables passed in. What am I doing wrong, please can somebody help me?

  • Can I get a person's display name or composite name from Apple AddressBook on OSX platform?

    I have come across ABRecordCopyCompositeName() in these pages but, having Spotlighted it, have a hunch it's only available for the IOS platform. The AddressBook app itself, and ABPeoplePicker obviously do something similar internally, so is there an equivalent API for OSX? It's a tedious thing to retrieve title, first name, middle name, last name, suffix and work out if it's a company before building it yourself.

    Hi, is it possible (a Google API or something) to get the ranking of a website given a search word? It's the code equivalent of doing a Google search for a word, then browsing through the results until you find the website you look for. By ranking I mean the position in the pages found, e.g. the site is number 4000 when searching for some word. Thanks!
