I need it to open 10 processes, and each time one of them finishes I want to wait few seconds and start another one.
It seems pretty simple, but somehow I can make it work.
For example I have long list of buttons: <input type=button name=clickbutton onclick='dosomething(this)'>
But instead of putting call to the same funcion in every button it would be more rational to add a single listening event that would wait for click of that button with this name. But again, there are maany this buttons so I need pass clicked object to a function. For example this function must update a textarea field that is adjacent (nextSibling) to this button.
my issue is i need to wait 3-4 seconds after a button has been pressed before i can check for it, here is my code under button1_click:
While Not File.Exists(LastCap)
Application.DoEvents()
MsgBox("testtestetstets")
End While
PictureBox1.Load(LastCap)
I think i'm doing something really simple wrong, i'm not the best at VB as i'm just learning so any explaining would be great!
~Thanks
Question
How do I setup Hudson so that if one person triggers a build, Hudson will put it on the queue and wait lets say 2 minutes, and during those 2 minutes if another build is triggered it will replace the older build on the queue with the new build?
This way if there are 2 builds in those 2 minutes, Hudson will only perform the last build.
Hi. I'm sending data to a web service through the MSXML2.XMLHTTP40 object. It's works fine in the development enviroment, but IIS is unable to send the data (long wait and then IIS close the connection). I must configure some in IIS in order to enable XMLHttpRequest ?
I know Windows close kernel handles when an application crashes, but if I want to wait on this event, can I be sure it will happen in milisec or it might take a while? I would like to trigger a new function the moment one application is crashed and I'm checking if this handle is NULL but it seems like I can't get a NULL value in this case.
I'm not sure this is the exact cause of my problem but I'll explain the 2 symptoms I noticed:
If I put a break point on a Toast.makeText(..).show(), step over, then wait a few seconds before running, the toast will never appear.
I have a location callback that tries to show a toast, but it never appears. Maybe I'm doing something else wrong, this is the line in question in my open source distress signal app.
Any help or pointers would be appreciated,

I have a page that performs an Ajax request that replaces a div every second.
This div also has hyperlinks in it.
If the user tries to click one of the hyperlinks, it will work, but if they move the cursor over the link, wait for a second without moving the cursor, the hyperlink no longer has the "hover" pseudostyle and if they click at the wrong time, the link doesn't work.
Is there a way to update the div without causing this, or to restore the "mouse over" state of the link?
Is there a way to kill a child thread after some specified time limit in Java?
Edit: Also this particular thread may be blocked in its worst case (Thread is used to wait for a file modification and blocks until this event occurs), so im not sure that interrupt() will be successful?
This question (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/245566/net-compact-framework-4-0) asked this back before the release of VS 2010. The answer basically said to wait for the release.
Now that the release is here, does anyone know? Is there an upgrade/update to the .NETCF? something past .NETCF 3.5?
How long are files usualy kept in a browser's cache? I'm wondering about the general population - how long would I need to wait to be reasonable certain that most people's caches will refetch the file?

I have a control for uploading an image and above it is an image control.
When User clicks 'Upload' button, image turns to an animated image displaying 'WAIT' message, after the image is uploaded, the image source changes to that image.
I want to do this using simple AJAX, JAVASCRIPT (xmlHTTP objects) , ASP.NET, VB.NET.
Can anyone help me out???
Don't wanna use iframe or flash besides above four.
Is there a way to PHP make asynchronous http calls? I don't care about the response, I just want to do something like file_get_contents(), but not wait on the request to finish before executing the rest of my code. This would be super useful for setting off "events" of a sort in my application, or triggering long processes.
Any ideas?
I was to have some extra information in the callback to sa_sigaction handler, it does not seems possible.
So I was wondering if you could suggest me alternatives. Basic requirements:
Function A raises an signal/event with a pointer to a struct
Handler function tackles the event.
The handler function would only be called on an event and a loop to wait for the event, as in select() , is undesirable.
TIA
how can i control two processes to run alternately in separate terminal windows.
for example i run the code for each on separate terminal windows at 11:59 and both of them wait for the time to be 12:00. at this moment process one starts execution and process two waits for say 10 seconds. then they switch, process two executes and process one waits.
in this way they take turns until the process is complete.
I have a thread that sets a value to true when it is done. Until then I wait:
while(1)
{
if(done[0] == true)
{
break;
}
}
This code works just fine in Debug but in Release it stays in the loop forever even though the debugger clearly says that it is true and not false.
Why would this not work?
Thanks
Actually I have been assigned to implement Barrier system solution in either C or C++ programming language... But I have zero knowledge about it ... I know the problem as well as solution theoritically.. But I have no idea how to implement it.... How can it be possible in C++ to stop or run or wait any process....
Plz yaar... Anyone help me... It's urgent...
Im using jquery for various things on my site, but one thing im not sure how to do, is have it show an element, then wait X seconds, and hide the element.
$('#form').ajaxForm(function() {
$('#cartcontents').fadeOut("fast").load('cart.php').fadeIn("fast");
});
That's the JavaScript that I'm using now. How could I have it (when the form submits) display the div #notice for 5 seconds, then fadeOut?
I have the following method :
public List<string> someMethod()
{
// populate list of strings
// dump them to csv file
//return to output
}
Question is: i dont want the user to wait for csv dump, which might take a while.
If i use a thread for csvdump, will it complete? before or after the return of output?
Hi folks

Let's say I have a thread pool containing X items, and a given task employs Y of these items (where Y is much smaller than X).
I want to wait for all of the threads of a given task (Y items) to finish, not the entire thread pool.
If the thread pool's execute() method returned a reference to the employed thread I could simply join() to each of these Y threads, but it doesn't.
Does anyone know of an elegant way to accomplish this? Thanks.
I am trying to cancel a task awaiting for network IO using CancellationTokenSource, but I have to wait until TcpClient connects:
try
{
while (true)
{
token.Token.ThrowIfCancellationRequested();
Thread.Sleep(int.MaxValue); //simulating a TcpListener waiting for request
}
}
any ideas ?
Secondly, is it OK to start each client in a separate task ?
I am curious to know if there is a way to edit code in VS 2008 right when it has hit a breakpoint and I am walking thru the code... can I modify the code (such as the value in a variable or if my stepthrough line is about to hit an if statement ... can I modify the if statement....etc)?
So far, I have to stop running VS, modify the code, then hit F5 and wait till the breakpoint is hit again.
